This s wickedness

As long as corruption prevails in Nigeria and there is no severe punishment for corruption, all attempts and policies to remove hardship or improve the lives of the people are bound to be exercises in futility.

Most Governors on receiving humongous allocations will only be busy changing them into dollars for personal use or funding outrageous white elephants projects with the purpose of stealing. How do you preach kindness to a Tiger or gentleness to a He-Goat on heat?

Islam is the only popular religion I know where one adherent may be gravely afraid of another adherent who is ready to kill his fellow adherent based on the tenets of the religion. It is not surprising that a Muslim is ready to kill another fellow Muslim on charges of blasphemy without even doing due diligence.

Politics / Re: CBN Pegs Rate For Import Duty Payment by Babinski: 6:12pm On Feb 24
Sheuns:
Why is the custom’s charging import duty in USD? If it is charged in Naira there wouldn’t be a need to adjust and readjust exchange rates.

Peg import duties in Naira and let importers seek Naira to pay. Not changing exchange rate all the time.

Other countries I know of charge import duties in their local currencies and not pegging exchange rate at USD.

Import duties are basically assessed as percentages or fractions of the good or importation cost. These costs are typically in Dollars because foreign countries won't collect Naira from you to buy goods or services. So the assessed import duties are in dollars and then converted to Naira using a specific exchange rate so they can be paid to the Customs in Naira.

Well said but two wrongs don’t make a right…. Whatever that happened in the past doesn’t mean that current generation of Igbos should continue to be marginalized or despised by other tribes…. It is time we look ahead and stop dwelling in the past…. if going back to the Federalism structure will ensure peace and prosperity then let all tribes push for it… the blame game over what happened in the 60s will not put food on anyone’s table or change Nigeria’s terrible economic realities….

You are right that we need to look ahead and stop dwelling in the past.

However we cannot move ahead when a lot of Igbos are bent on a revisionist retelling of history, making it seem the Northerners simply hated them without cause in 1966 and that Yoruba are their arch-enemy.

The first step to healing is for the Igbo to admit, if not to anyone but themselves, that their actions in several ways led to the Civil War and then going forward, make appropriate corrections to be able to live and grow peaceably with their co-sojouners in the country called Nigeria. They cannot continue to label Yoruba as "betrayers", Northerners "cattle" and Nigeria "Zoo" or "Zoogeria" and expect support from these same people. Aggression and insults do not win friends.

It is not about doctors being psychotic. This may be the results of corruption right from higher education stage where incompetent doctors get graduated based on corruption. Then poor regulation and all other contributing factors from corruption. Public hospitals are not very well regulated, how much more private hospitals?
When we run a country that is not based on merit, these are the kind of painful results that come out.

On December 28, 2023, I flew into Benin City Airport around 2 p.m. as part of an official 5-member delegation authorised by the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Alhaji Lamidi Basiru Apapa.

The petitioner should first be arrested for conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace. The Supreme Court has already affirmed Abure as the authentic Chairman on Labour Party by October 2023 and yet the petitioner came to disrupt LP activities on the order of Papa as a purported Acting Chairman that has been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The petitioner is really mischievous.

It is also perplexing that same petitioner is dictating to the Police in his petition on what the Police is to do and how the Police is to act. Is he teaching them their job? Telling them to freeze accounts, arrest by covert operations, etc.

While I do not excuse the attack against the petitioner and his rights to seek redress by filing a compliant with the Police, it is clear his actions and disregard for Supreme Court ruling brought him the beating.

I'm not holding brief for Abure but why should the police refer to him as a factional chairman of labour party, even when he has been declared the authentic chairman of the party by the court?

If the police indeed referred to Abure as factional Chairman, then that is enough to show that the Police may be biased on the issue.

What the Igbo man saw as far back as 1966 is what they are just seeing today

Make I follow you shout....we die here!!!!

Permit me to educate you on the following:

1. The first military Head of State in Nigeria (Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi) was an Igbo man who was brought into power through a Coup d'etat spearheaded by Igbo men. President Azikiwe, an Igbo man was conveniently absent and refused to pressure or dissuade the military, thus allowing the acting President (i.e. Senate President Nwafor Orizu), another Igbo man to officially handover power to Ironsi and thereby truncate the First Nigerian Republic.

2. Aguiyi Ironsi not only failed to punish the coup plotters but went ahead to promulgate the now-infamous "Decree No. 34", which abrogated the country's Federal structure and replaced it with a Unitary one that made the center so powerful at the detriment of the States and Regions.

Igbos not only created the resentment and provocations that led to the 1966 Civil War but also plunged Nigeria into the bad Unitary structure and the killing of Federalism that we are battling with till today.

If we talk about restructuring, it is more or less about going back to the Federalism structure and good old days that Aguiyi Ironsi and his kinsmen killed decades ago.

He chose him to be an Apostle to the Gentiles.

You do not need to engage with him for any purposes of enlightenment. Check is posts on this forum over the years and it is clear he is not a Christian. He is probably some self acclaimed philosopher seeking to sow discord. If he can be making statement like Paul not being selected as one of the disciples, you can clearly see the depth of his understanding of the scriptures.

That being said, I do not expect any serious Christian to take the self styled Apostle Suleiman serious as a Christian Minister after all the issues with women of easy virtue. By their fruits we shall know them. Forget about the English speaking and talk talk on stages and television.

While race is said to be a social construct and not a biological reality, it appears from abundant evidence that Societies with predominantly black people have not been able to organically conceive, understand and execute the key underlying principles that birth developed countries. Principles such as:

1. Human Capital Development: Investing in education, healthcare, and skills training to develop a highly educated and healthy workforce capable of driving innovation and productivity.

2. Institutional Quality and Governance: Ensuring transparent, accountable, and efficient governance structures, including rule of law, property rights protection, and anti-corruption measures.

3. Social Equity and Inclusion: Promoting social equity, reducing poverty, and addressing inequalities to ensure that the benefits of development are shared equitably across society.

When you cannot understand, master and execute along these principles, you can never become developed nations.

There are often blame games mentioning effects of colonization, foreign interference, etc as major culprits but I disagree. There are some black countries that were never colonized like Ethiopia and Liberia but where are they today? Well before the white man came to Africa, what style of governance were various Africa societies practicing and how developmental were they? What there any serious indications that could have grown into developed countries in that manner?

Religion / Re: Woman Speaks Up Against Pastor Adeboye by Babinski: 10:47am On Feb 19

I am a member of RCCG check the two publication above where Pastor Adeboye was asking GEJ to fix the country, why has he not ask Tinubu or why didn't he tell Bubu during his tenure, let's face the truth men of God in Nigeria have failed God, period.

A lot of claimed men of God in Nigeria are not even known to or recognized by God, much less talking about failing Him. That is why you see so many churches, some much religion but the expected impact is not found in the society.

That being said, a genuine Man of God does not fail God by refusing to participate in partisan politics. You fail God by not doing what he told you to do and when He had expectations of obedience from you. Suffice to say, the job descriptions of a Pastor does not include political activism and partisan politics.

People choose their political leaders and governance is not much of a spiritual matter as understanding and abiding by certain principles. There is no evidence that correlates religion with good governance, particularly in a multi-religioua country like Nigeria.

Rather than waiting to hear Adeboye criticizing governments which to me has no real impact on the situation, people should endeavour to follow the teachings he represents and presents. If every single claimed RCCG member genuinely practices the teaching of Christ, Nigeria will be a better place that it currently is. The calling to change the nature of people to Christ is far higher in impact than the calling to be a public critic.

One should not make claims in the absence of supporting evidence, particularly when it affects the integrity of another person. Can you prove that Adeboye collected money from or was dashed money by politicians?

On the matter of winning the souls of politicians, a Pastor can only preach to someone, the actual conviction and conversion is done by the Holy Spirit. If he has preached to the politicians, then his job is done. Whether they accept or not is left to them.

Kuginzi:

https://dailypost.ng/2024/02/17/tinubu-rigged-his-way-into-power-to-kill-nigerians-aisha-yesufu/

One of the major problems with opposition in Nigeria, particularly from Obidents is that they are mentally lazy and sentimental.

1. Their position is always that Tinubu can never do anything right because he is occupying where they want Peter Obi to be. Yet through all the Court cases, no cogent evidence was presented to show that Tinubu stole Obi's mandate. In fact the outing of Obi at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal up to Supreme Court which gulped over N700 million (more than 50% of total LP Election Funds) left so much to be desired.

2. Their argument is not based on policies but personalities. The two main causes of the present economic travails in the country are the floating of the dollar and the removal of petroleum subsidy which are the same policies that were advocated by Peter Obi. So what is Tinubu doing now that Obi would have done differently?

Of all the 3 major candidates, whether his intentions are genuine or not, Tinubu was clearly the most prepared candidate who took years to work his way by forming ACN, trying a shot at Presidency with Ribadu to learn the ropes, merging with CPC abd nPDP to form APC, subduing personal interest to field Buhari in 2015 as having the brighter chance, wrestling power from PDP and waiting till 2023 to make a shot at the Presidency directly. He never decamped to another party but built organically and through mergers.

Compare to Atiku who was decamping across parties like a prostitute and Obi who decamped from APGA to PDP and left PDP for LP barely 2 years to the election.

Now instead of sitting down in the trenches to build a true party, the opposition are is busy chasing the limelight with showmanship and political commentary. Let them propose the solution to even one of the major problems facing the polity so we know they have it upstairs instead of armchair criticism.

His criticism at best only lead to polarized members because not all RCCG members will support the same political party. Pastors need to stay off politics.

Checked through some.of your posts and it appears "dyslexia" is the new buzzword you just learnt for insulting people.

You claims on providing references and instance is laughable. You make reference to the cost of a Kiln which is a capital cost that is at best amortized and even so at local currency conversion rate at time of purchase or installation. You make references to Diesel when Dangote cement runs on gas turbines and the gas is sourced locally from NNPC, etc.

The major operating costs in cement production is the cost of raw materials and power. And I have shown these are locally sourced. Transportation, personnel and marketing costs do not warrant the upsurge we see in price differential over a short period. So where is your argument?

If you make your points so easily and backed up with strong evidence, you would not need to challenge anyone to prove your intellectual capacity. You only prove things that are in doubt. How often have you had to prove you are a man when all can see you are one?

He spoke against Jonathan but how effective was his speaking against him? Did his speaking make life better or it opened him up to insults from Jonathan supporters? We all learn as we grow. If he adopted a strategy during Jonathan regime and he didn't see how it helped his ministry or found it to be counter productive, you do not expect him not to learn from it.

Critics are readily made in Nigeria and if your goal is to sensitize the Government to the suffering of the masses, there are many doing that already. What difference does it really make when Adeboye turns himself into a critic of bad government? Is that is calling? The God who chose him to win souls will not award him points for criticism.

Pastor Adeboye's job is winning souls for Christ and not as a political activist, critic or social commentator. You cannot expect him to start inciting people against the Government because we all know how ruthless and vindictive our politicians are. It will be total lack of focus to get into political fights that can hamper his ministry and affect his primary duty.

This same old elementary argument again. Crude oil is sourced in Nigeria, has that stopped you lot from importing PMS and Diesel?
Common sense is not common.

PMS and Diesel are imported wholly and that accounts for their pricing dependency on FX rates regardless of the sourcing of crude oil locally.

On the other hand, importation of cement is banned and it is produced and packaged locally with the major raw materials sourced locally. So what is the FX component of cement production compared to PMS and Diesel that are wholly imported to justify your comparison?

Commo sense really is not to be common for you and that appears to be your signature rather than being a mere comment.

1…. The bank will sack the staff and claim that he acted on his own without the approval or consent from sterling bank

2… Nigeria legal system is terrible…. Instead of the bank to pay you for the damages and deformation of character…. The bank will simply take a token to the Judge in charge of the case….
And the Judge will either frustrate you the more by adjourning your case until you get tired

This is a fight you’re not designed to win Oga

1. Sacking the staff does not automatically free Sterling Bank. There is what is called vicarious liability in law as long as the staff was employed and working for them.

2. It is not all Judges that are corrupt. I have seen cases won against Banks for wrongful termination of employment and other issues and the Judges clearly were not compromised.

3. The OP should file a case of violation of Fundamental Human Rights against the Police because a loan issue is a civil matter and not criminal. The Police are not loan enforcers or loan collectors.

The reasons adduced are insufficient to warrant the change at this point in time. With all the lack of party discipline, ineffective institutions and widespread corruption even at the legislature, it will be disastrous to seek Parliamentary System at this point.

We already can see how the legislature is more about selfish interests than representing the people and how they are getting fat at the expense of the electorate and even making laws to feather their own nests. The Senate is the retirement home of Governors and the House of Representatives is not much different in serving the need of the people. You are wicked and abused power.

Your brother stole something and sold. You left your brother who would soon become anini to go and fight helpless people.

Your brother carried it and uninstalled it and sold it.

Sue your brother first

Wicked man.
As you keep protecting your brother one day he will use gun and kidnap you.

Better refund their money. That is what you should have done in the first place.

Not call police because you have money and lawyer.

Then when your brother is caught you deal with him.

For the whole family to be against you it means you did wrong. Infact very wrong.

I am sure when he was uninstalling it no one challenged him because they felt you are brothers. So he carried it and sold it for ps3.

Now you went and challenged the buyer knowing fully well, that your brother sold it.

What if he sold it to aboki people you will go to their dump to retrieve it. Dey play

Useless brother.

Why not bring your brother to testify but because you know your thief of a brother is a disgrace you shielded him

Na u supposed dey beg.
They will return it.
Using police force. We dey misuse police ooo

All this your epistle while holding a wrong position in the eyes of the law. Are you a buyer of stolen goods for you to be so driven by emotion on the matter?

Simple question:

1. Do those buyers of the Solar Panels, Batteries and Inverter have a receipt for the purchase? The answer is NO because they have not shown it. What they rely on his theclaim that his brother sold it to them but they have no evidence of proper sales and payment of even the amount they claim. It is their responsibility to look for the seller (that is the brother on the run) to backup their claim, not for the owner of the Panels to provide his brother.

2. Do they have sufficient reason to believe the brother who sold the Solar Panels to them has true Ownership of the property? Does he have a job to warrant earnings to buy the Solar Panels? Would a true owner of the Solar Panels worth over 400K exchange it for 35K and PS3? If they cannot show reason for Believe that he owns the Panels when they entered negotiations with him, then it means they are partners with him in the crime and guilty of theft. And that is likely the position because they are even unable to produce receipt of the sale.

The first thing Police will ask you for as proof of ownership of anything is the receipt. If you are unable to produce receipt or strong evidence of ownership, then forget about it.

Try to reason rather than supporting theft and stupidity. All the family of the purported buyer should be locked up!
