Was Alex Ekwueme not the Vice President to Shagari? Have Igbos not been Senators, Senate Presidents and Governors?

Today, December 25, 2025, I decided to step out and soak in the festive vibes at the Uyo Christmas Village. What I witnessed there has got me thinking deeply about human nature, and I just had to share it here for some discussion.
The place was buzzing with energy – lights everywhere, music blasting, food stalls overflowing, and people from all walks of life letting loose. I saw old men chilling with bottles of beer, cracking jokes and laughing like they were teenagers again. Old women and ladies were dancing, sipping colorful cocktails, snapping selfies, and indulging in everything from grilled suya to ice cream and games. Families were there too, but even the adults seemed to forget their worries, chasing that momentary high of joy and pleasure.
It hit me hard: We humans are inherently hedonistic, aren't we? We chase pleasure, comfort, and enjoyment at every opportunity. Whether it's through food, drinks, music, or just the thrill of the crowd, we're wired to seek out what feels good. But here's the real question that's been bugging me – why do we pretend otherwise?
In our daily lives, we put on this facade of being all serious, disciplined, and "moral." We judge others for "partying too much" or "living recklessly," yet when the lights dim and the festivities kick in, we're right there in the mix. Is it society? Religion? Fear of judgment? Or are we just hypocrites who deny our true selves to fit in?
I'd love to hear your thoughts, Nairaland. Have you had similar experiences? Do you think hedonism is our default mode, or is there more to it?

The Nigerian Army has dismissed a frontline soldier, Private Isah Emmanuel, after he allegedly refused to obey a direct ceasefire order issued by his commanding officer during a fierce encounter with Boko Haram insurgents.

The incident occurred on November 17, 2025, when troops under the 16 Brigade Garrison reportedly came under intense attack from Boko Haram fighters. According to internal military documents sighted by reporters, the commanding officer instructed his men to cease fire as part of a tactical withdrawal and repositioning strategy. The Armed forces has always been subject to civil rule. But that civil order must come from the president, not a minister, senator or state governors.

Those illiterates in the hallowed chamber should go study the meaning of armed forces subjecting to civil rule.

The part in bold is the point a lot of Nigerians are missing. On what basis should our military be deployed to protect a construction site with a directive to shoot government officials who are on routine monitoring exercise? Are we in a war situation with another country over the property? Is that what we’ve reduced our armed personnel to? Instead of deploying soldiers to fight terrorism and protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria, we now deploy them with the directive to shoot government officials over an illegally acquired land. What a shame.

Like I’ve said before, all the soldiers involved in that illegal operation and show of shame including the person that deployed them to that site should have been arrested by the police and charged to court. I condone impunity far too much in this country and that’s why people get away with a lot of rubbish.

Wike did not lose. Rule of law lost. Civilian lost against military. This shows that Military can do anything they like and nothing will happen. The Nigerian people lost. Democracy lost.
So tomorrow, military can do anything to Nigerians and nothing will happen.
They can bully anybody and it will be in vain.
Military authority won against Democratic Authority even in the face of military illegality.

Last last, na all of us go collect... If you celebrate this, then you are celebrating future pains that will be meted on you by the military because you cannot escape it

So this is just general Ghanaian frustration over Nigeria winning everything, both African and foreign.

I also saw another video where they were lamenting about how the Ghana movie industry had collapsed after Nollywood blanked their actors for collabo etc.... It's not just music.
