omabroowniee: Hi,
I am seeking some advice with regards to uk visa.i applied to visit friends in the uk in december for a short holiday (as my leave was about then)but was denied because i didnt submit payslips from my job. I am trying to reapply later this month and i need counsel. My husband wants to invite me to visit him(we got married on 29th dec) as he is based in the uk.we want to know the best way to go about this since he holds a tier 1 general which is due renewal in april after which i can come as his dependent. or should we just go ahead to apply as dependent in april when he gets a renewal?Secondly,when i did the ist application,i didnt mention him as someone i know in the uk..does this affect in anu way?
Thanks for your time. Chinky.

Based in the UK with a tier 1 general? Isn't that a visit visa?

Final Question, I will be submitting both my salary acct and my savings acct for the application. I will be applying for the visa next week friday. Do I leave the funds in my salary acct which is not as much as the funds in my savings acct or I can transfer it to my savings even though I will still be submitting both accts for the application. I hate leaving funds in my salary acct because the bank tends to make some unexplainable debits from my acct and I do mobile/internet banking with my savings making it easier for me to pay for goods and services.

salsera: besides there are trains from london bridge to crystal palace 30mins or so

There is no cost implication, travel zones are wide so its the same cost no matter long the travel time is as long as its covered by the zones on your oyster card

So save your hotel bill

Wow, thanks so much. Crystal palace it is then. Will save me over £150. Cool.

£210 for 7 days hmmm....it looks good from the reviews but your major issues will be transportation into Central London. Your closest station seems to be Crystal Palace on the London Overground so you'll be fine with your Oyster card. You should be looking at a minimum journey time of 30mins to get into Central London.

Yeah, considering transportation, i chose hotel lily cos i don't know the cost implication of the 30mins to and fro.

Flight <= 600
hotel <= 400
Travelcard for a week(zone 1-6)<= 60
Feeding <= 100
Tour Tickets <= 100
Shopping <= 400

anything between 1400 - 1600 should do the trick.

You don't have to stay in kensington.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate. What abt Queens Hotel, crystal palace, london. Its £210 for the 7 days stay.

Aren't you going shopping? lol Nigerians are know to be some of the highest high street spenders in the UK.

I know it's not compulsory but you still need to include some additional funds for emergencies. I'd suggest another 200 pounds to be included in your budget as 'spending money'.

Lol, shopping is for sure. Will add that. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Can someone help out with a sustainable budget for one week stay in the UK. Trying to draw up a feasible budget for the ECO.
This is the budget i drafted, cost is in pounds, feel free to modify, reduce or increase budget.

Flight: 700
Accommodation: 385 (Hotel Lily,Kensington/earl's court, London, booked for 7 nights and offers breakfast)
Transport within London: 100 (The hotel is in a good location for places of attraction and i will use the oyster card loaded with weekly pass)
Feeding: 100(lunch/dinner)
Tour tickets: 100

This will be my first time in the UK if visa is granted.

Thank you.

Its gonna be a pleasant surprise for him. He is just 4 o, but he has been asking for a big car(any body type as long as its not a sedan) for his mum from dad. I can't wait to paint the town gold with my kids.

You r simply the best. Oh, av said dat countless times now, lol. Thanks once again.

HARD DOCUMENTS are documents that carry Security Authentication; or Stamps; or Seals; or Signatures; or apostiles, etc: (For example a Marriage Certificate), such documents must be submitted in their original states. Any other document that does not carry any of the mentioned authentication is allowed to be submitted in photocopied state

Thanks so much Vicjustice. Its much clearer now.

But is it true I have to run 3 copies oF each document submitted?

Please the documents needed for making the general visa applications, which ones should i submit the originals and which should i submit just photocopies. How many sets of photocopies is needed? Someone just informed me i need 3 sets.

Here is a list of documents i want to use for the application:

Bank Statements (6 months), mine
Bank statements (6 months), Hubby. He is a co-sponsor
Payslips (6 months) for both of us
Letter of introduction from HR
Leave application form
Letter of confirmation and promotions
Letter of consent from Hubby
Tax clearance card and work ID for both of us
Marriage certificate
Kid's birth certificates
ARM pension statements
Hotel Reservation confirmation
My itinerary for the 7 days stay

Please kindly avail me more documents i might need for the application and documents i listed that are not necessary. Which ones need to be originals and which should just be copies.

I had a refusal in 2006 about lack of evidence of accommodation and anomalies and inconsistencies in bank statements submitted. I appealed and the Judge dismissed it based on the accommodation but allowed the bank statement as authentic.

Do i need to submit a copy of the refusal and also the decision of the Judge?

Thank you for your time.

P.S. I just received my tax clearance card today and there was a letter missing in my first name. It was spelt Chiagzie instead of Chiagozie. I hope it wont affect my application?

Dis Guy:

hmm I think you would be looking at about £400 for a decent hotel,
you could get cheaper but you'll have to comprise with daily travel expense or
inconvenience travelling to visit family or shopping route

Thanks Dis Guy. In terms of proximity to places of interest in London, so its advisable to get a higher priced hotel in London I guess. Well, best I increase my budget then.

Kindly avail me the good ones with a budget of £400 to £450. Shopping routes is my major priority.

Thank you for your time.

Are you a student or tourist?

where's you final destination?

What's your budget

there are affordable hotels in London too if you book early and avoid high season

Thanks Dis guy.

I am a tourist. Destination is London, first timer. Planning to spend just 7 days. I would like A hotel with a total cost of btw 50k and 75k for the 7 nights.
Travel date is most likely mid-march.

Thanks.

Please which areas close to London can one get affordable hotels. Going tru booking.com and kind of confused as to which hotel to book.

I saw some average and affordable hotels within my budget but seems far away from London. What do I need to know before booking a hotel because I wouldn't want to be denied based on inadequate accomodation or location of hotel, I am traveling alone.

Thanks.

Do you have enough for the trip in your salary account?

No I don't, the bulk of the money/transactions is in my savings account. I will also be using my hubby's salary acct statement as he is a co-sponsor for my trip.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by babybird82(f): 12:07pm On Jan 09, 2013
Hello Justwise,

Please i intend to apply for a tourist visa with 2 bank statements, one is my salary account and the other is my savings account. The only problem is that my savings account was opened on August 1 2012 and is not up to 6 months old, about 5 months plus while the salary account is over 6 months old.

Is this going to pose any problems as i intend to apply next week and the savings account will be 6 months on the 31st of January.

Thank you.

He lives in a rented apartment with his wife and 2 kids. The wife is actually my friend, we were highschool classmates. He is Nigerian but was born in the UK.
