A 19-year-old girl and member of a cult known as the Marine Girls, Blessing David, on Thursday confessed to having slept with 10 men after she was initiated into the group.

The teenager, who was initiated along with other girls, said sleeping with the men was part of the initiation rites.

She said this at the headquarters of the Edo State Police Command in Benin City, when the Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, paraded 15 armed robbery suspects, six cultists, three kidnappers and four murder suspects.

The cultists paraded were three teenage girls, who were said to be members of the Marine Girls.

Blessing told PUNCH Metro that she was initiated into the group in 2019.

“My name is Blessing David. I was initiated into the cult last year. I slept with 10 men as part of the initiation process,” she stated.

Another 16-year-old girl, Ada Emeka, said she also slept with 10 men as part of the initiation rites.

Top officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission have walked out of the venue of an investigative hearing being held by the House of Representatives.

The House Committee on NDDC is probing the alleged mismanagement and illegal spending by the commission, especially a total sum of N81.5bn spent between January and July 2020.

The Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Prof Kemebrandikumo Pondei, who led members of the Interim Management Committee of the commission to the hearing, demanded that the Chairman, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, steps down as he had also been accused of various “crimes” against the commission.
Several members of the committee, however, dismissed the request, asking the NDDC to petition the Nigeria Police, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission or the Department of State Services for any infraction allegedly committed by Tunji-Ojo.

The chairman of Gwer West Local Government council in Benue, Francis Ayagah, was publicly punished for shouting All Progressives Congress ( APC ) at a campaign rally organized by the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ).
According to reports, Ayagah was elected chairman on the platform of the APC, but he defected to PDP during the new political realignment in Benue State.

During the campaign rally which was organized by Governor Samuel Ortom ’s wife, Eunice, for the re-election of her husband in the local government area.
The chairman mounted the podium to deliver his campaign speech, he shouted Aaaaaa Peeeee Ceeeee (APC) two times.

There was no response from the PDP supporters, who felt embarrassed.

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu has been invited before a panel probing the activities of the agency.

The panel is said to be sitting at the Banquet Hall wing of the Presidential Villa.

Magu was stopped in traffic while moving out of the Wuse II Annex of the EFCC in Abuja and the invitation was extended to him.

Although Magu was on his way to the Force Headquarters, he pleaded with an officer from FCID who met with him to honour the scheduled appointment.

But he was told the invitation by the panel was more important.

At about 1.35pm, Magu arrived at the Villa where he was ushered into the wing.

As at Press time, Magu has been joined at the Villa by his lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs.

A source said: “Both Magu and Jacobs are now in an office in the Banquet Wing of the Vila.

“He has not been arrested by any of the security agencies. We are awaiting further development. ”

A member of the House of Representatives, Zakariya Dauda Nyampa, has advocated for fresh graduates to be enlisted into the army.

Nyampa who represents representing Michika/Madagali constituency of Adamawa state, said the military service should replace the mandatory one-year National Youth Services Corps (NYSC).

The lawmaker made the suggestion at a virtual meeting organised by a non-governmental organisation, Leadership newspaper reported.

He said graduates who do not have the interest to serve as military personnel should be allowed to venture into other endeavours after the mandatory one-year training and service in the Nigerian army.
