Idaytesj29:"“Officers In Charge (of prisons) deliberately keep inmates’ numbers high so they can claim more money for their feeding,” a prison source said asking not to be named as he has no permission to talk to journalists. “In connivance with Police DPOs, they arrest vulnerable people, go to court, and remand them in custodial centres.”" Directly from the article |
Dismissive replies show how heartless some of you are and that you did not read the article. 1: Criminals do not deserve to die from disease, that was not their sentence nor what the punishment should be. 2: The article clearly states that many inmates are imprisoned there on false charges so prison officials can loot the allocations, so many are completely innocent |
It is a tortoise. It's a bit concerning that you ate something that you didn't even know the name of though |
if she is qualified and can show her experience and competence at the potential portfolio, then there is nothing against her serving |
GboyegaD:The winners will hold their positions until the next elections in 2023. |
bluefilm:Herd immunity will come when a large percentage of the world is vaccinated (at least 80% for the Delta variant - depends on further study though). Only 32.2% of the world is fully vaccinated so herd immunity hasn't begun yet against COVID. There is pretty strong herd immunity against other illnesses, which is why there aren't commonly massive measles or rubella epidemics. |
bluefilm:0.1% of 8 billion is 8,000,000 people. If everyone getting vaccinated can save even a tenth of those, it's worth it. |
bluefilm:even if it was from a lab, that doesn't mean you just let people die from it |
i completely agree that seated should be reserved for women but create them from the current number until legislator expenses are lessened |
michaelwilli:Because they’re corrupt bastards that stole palliatives for themselves and they don't care about people's safety, they just know that fewer people dying is good for their re-election campaigns. But fewer people dying is also good for everyone so they should make vaccines compulsory. |
cappyolu:Vaccines work, the vast majority of serious cases are in unvaccinated people. The vaccine is meant to protect you from getting hurt and it's working. plus "Why do you care so much about keeping everyone safe" is simple: I don't want more people to die, i don't care if I'll never know those people but I don't want them to die. |
bluefilm:Vaccines boosts natural immunity, helping our immune systems fight diseases. That's why Smallpox has been finished and polio is rare. Natural immunity isn't enough to stop pandemics as shown by the millions that have died in them. |
Pretty much none of these quotes say that the states will never have compulsory COVID-19 vaccination, they just say that the states aren't planning it right now. I hope they and all states eventually make the vaccine compulsory, it's the only way to keep everyone safe. |
How are ministries supposed to be held to fiscally responsible spending when the auditing office can’t even spend appropriately |
bjtinz:Lawmaking, in an ideal world, is just as important as the executive and the executive cannot get their budgets or projects funded without the legislature so both should use the system of majority rule. That already happens with the presidency as one needs 50% to win but for the legislature (unless the electoral system is changed), it is vital that each district have the same population. The state have very different populations and that should be reflected in the amount of seats each state has. Take for example Bayelsa (around 2 mil pop.) and Rivers (around 7 mil pop): if both elected the same number of representatives, then Rivers voters would have three and a half times less influence then Bayelsa voters. It would not be democratic to allow such a massive deviation in voter power for such an important body. |
Ironically Biafra isn't an Ijaw word or even an African word, it's named after the Portuguese city of Mafra. |
I support a unicameral legislature but having every state have the same number is nonsense. There is no democracy if a state with a small population has the same number of legislators as a state three times its population. |
This is wrong. Fellow Christians simply ask yourself how you would feel if this was the Government of Kebbi State or somewhere deciding to put exams on Easter or Christmas. This shouldn’t be allowed, it's a public holiday |
If true, this explanation makes sense but for press conferences it would make more sense to also have Igbo and Yoruba speakers as well |
This really shouldn’t be a big deal, it's one word that means the same thing. Not everything needs to be a fight |
This could not more clearly be a piece paid for by the candidate. This is laughable |
Why should anyone be able to go without questioning? I am completely in favor of giving women equal ministerial positions and recognize that having previous experience as a lawmaker may be important for a cabinet post, but no one should become a minister without answering a few questions. |

Sermwell:I don't think you get what I am trying to say. His posing and caption are implying that the building in the background is the Burj Khalifa. It looks like he is purposefully trying to mislead people that have not seen the Burj Khalifa so that he would not have to wait in line to take a photo with the actual building. |
Sermwell:Yes, the Burj Khalifa looks nothing like this building.
|
This is not the Burj Khalifa, it is a nearby building.
|
Foolish idea that would only make it worse |
Guestlander:Yes, every member of the parliament is elected. However, being an elected MP is not a requirement for serving in the cabinet or even as Prime Minister. In Italy, the current Prime Minister is an unelected man (Giuseppe Conte) that very few in the country even knew of until months after the election. Also, there must be a head of state how would you suggest that position be filled?? We do not have a suitable monarch and if there is an executive president that would defeat the purpose. The only other option is a ceremonial president, however, look at Sri Lanka where the country has been through weeks of turmoil because of a power struggle between the president and prime minister. How could a parliamentary system cause anything but more chaos. |
Shameful this should never happen |
Can Giwa just leave already give up man |
