He indeed lived in the UK (and was actually born) and the US but at some point he developped great nostalgia for africa and was following a spiritual awakening that made him renounce it all and ultimately fly back to Nigeria. You have to understand where he is coming from to better judge his posts. He is someone that follows a simplistic, antimaterialistic and spiritual inclined way of life and judges everything from that angle. His Family is quite rich with ties to the ruling class in Lagos so he does not view the world from the perspective of a struggling nigerian japaing.

I generally don't give advice on travelling out but my 2 pence is this.
UK is going thru economic meltdown at the moment. So things a expensive and hard. But there are still jobs and opportunities.
U have to work hard and be smart to achieve breakthrough.
Pls focus on IT, go for certification in IT courses eg project management. IT is a great economic cushion in this period. Your wife can go into coding since she has computer science background. She can easily earn 400 pounds a day in that field.
Finally, not everything Sukkot said is wrong, don't come here thinking u will be able to build house in maitama or banana island. Don't come here thinking of becoming a billionaire that will be throwing money around in naija. If that's your intention pls don't come.
UK isnt build for such, in fact most western nations apart from America is strongly socialist.
U can attain a solid middle class life here easily compared to Nigeria. Find ways to beat the system albeit legally otherwise u will use all your money to pay tax and bills.

My friend who relocated to Sunderland 6 months ago analysed to me that Japa to UK is still better than Nigeria. That He saves 500 pounds monthly after bills ( which is about 500k naira) compared to me doing white collar job and earning 300k naira salary in Nigeria. He does minimum wage job in Sunderland @10 pounds per hour and on dependent visa while his wife is on student visa.

Almost 40 percent of Nigerians in the UK cannot afford food. If you go to the charity section of every church where they give free food to the hungry it's full of Nigerian families.

because my friend in the UK just about 5 months in, is in a contribution of 1M/month since March. She makes a little over 3k pounds/month. And by the way she does live-in care work of 10pm-8am everyday. Which means she can even still get other jobs during the day if she's so strong for it. She's really doing amazing for herself.
I help her calculate her taxes and I see her accounts first hand. So I know.
