It's basically a meme at this point that the final season has been going on for 3 years...and even this part 3 is split into 2 different 1hour episodes...

This first episode is also split into two chapters

Chapter 1: The Rumbling
Opened up with the scene from Ep1 of AOT with Eren and Mikasa under the tree. The episode explores the character of Eren hating himself for the genocide he's committing against humanity and apologizing to the kid Ramzi even though Ramzi doesn't understand
Love the constant switches to rumbling in present day.

This part is pure hell...the end of the world and it's shown in such a gruesome way filled with hopelessness as humanity tries to run from the rumbling. Blood, Carnage.

The episode also shows the Alliance trying to work the flying boat to get to Eren as the Rumbling approaches them. It featured one of the best ODM gear scenes in the entire show...and *spoilers so I won't say

Chapter 2: Sinners
Starts with the Alliance acknowledging their own crimes, their sins and the fact that they aren't saints. The Scouts are still adamant that the situation can be resolved peacefully by speaking with Eren.
However the paths scene afterwards clears the air that there is no peaceful solution.
If they want to stop the Rumbling, they must kill Eren

This chapter also shows the last major fortress of humanity leading an air assault on the attack Titan to save humanity...
Humanity finally understands their mistake of all the hate passed against the Subjects of Ymir

My favourite line is then admitting this was "the monster they created"

When all hope seems lost, the Alliance appear jumping off the plane in their desperate attempt to stop Eren and kill Zeke


It came as a surprise to me that the Rumbling scenes from chapter 134 was not animated in this episode and it seems to be saved for the next episode
The Freedom scene also felt different from the manga...but I still love it

I can't wait for the next episode in Fall 2023

Season 2 ending theme song was the best, Shinsei Kamattechan did great, they probably are subjects of Ymir, lol.

Besides, it is a little scary that a whole clan of people carry a dormant but terribly vicious monster inside them, no wonder Marlians treated them like they did.

I actually prefer the Akuma no ko song from the S4P2 ending

To be fair...in reality, humans will never accept a race that can turn into monsters with all the destruction they can do...and they eating humans alive

And the Eldians did do it, they used Titans in war, they pillaged and ràped and practiced forced-breeding to expand their empire

The biggest crime of the world tho...was to pass their hate to the newer generation...to blame the subjects of Ymir for every evil in the world
And Marley is mostly the cause of that by using Titans in War

Watching this episode, I can understand why MAPPA wanted it released at once...like a movie

It feels like Cinema...the ODM scenes were insane...

MAPPA really did some of the best ODM scenes in the entire show...

It's gotten darker this season...and in a way it was kind of expected.

After all it is a show about attacking monsters in a dungeon, and even in that first ever season, we had hints about how dangerous the monsters are...

Since then (SPOILERS ALERT)

1.We have had seasons showing some of the monsters may be sentient.

2.The dungeon itself is far more dangerous than we thought.

3.Even some of them dumb monsters get more dangerous in the deeper levels.

I can't even ironically enjoy Redo of Healer. At least anime like Eromanga Sensei and Peter Grill have a few redeeming qualities. Redo of Healer just absolutely sucks.

Comics CAN sell well in Nigeria (Wole Adenuga of Super story fame published and sold comics a lot in the 1970's 80's and 1990's....Ikebe Super and Super Story for adults, and from 1991/2 Binta for children ....and yes, some of the characters and storylines for his 'Super story' and Papa Ajasco tv programmes came from the comics...eg Ajasco junior had a comic strip in Binta for example)....but as you say, those days are long long gone.(And no it was not because of the economy...1980's Nigeria was very tough after 1982. Adiche's Americanah captures those days very well in the early chapters).
