Exactly..na the Zuko vex me pass, it looked nothing like the animation, but make we dey observe sha. It's either going to be very good or very bad...no middle ground.
I think it'll be decent.
Season 1 of ATLA wasn't even that good sef apart from last 2 episodes...so you guys should lower your expectations...
Season 2 is when it kicks off and S2 is when the Netflix adaptation will kick off

Just hope the visual effects are good...
And that the action scenes are good...not like the movie where it took a full squad of earth benders to move one stone grin

These are *pandemic DCEU* uno, coupled with almost simu HBO max release, it would definitely hurt the numbers. Most movies struggled in that time frame tbh.
those numbers are awful no matter the excuse...
Wonder Woman 1984 didn't even make it's budget... embarrassing...
Can't believe I wasted my money watching it

The Suicide Squad was actually surprising since it was a good movie

Projections are looking like Blue Beetle will flop too...

If after the reboot, DCEU drops another bomb, they should just retire the universe and stick to solo movies

Netflix too dey gbà, that's the problem. I saw the One Piece teaser and i almost threw up.
they use cheap looking sets sometimes

For ATLA...the costumes looked like cosplays

The Netflix "Avatar: The Last Airbender" project first renders looks just as awful as the 2010 live action movie. I have faint confidence it will turn out good. I starting to think perhaps this isn't destined for a live action adaptation.
have some faith...
It won't release till next year...
They have enough time to fix things

One Piece live action Trailer from Netflix

Thoughts?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNMSqxQtO0w
what I'm worried about here is the MCU type of humour. It just doesn't work for One Piece and I personally hate it in media generally

Luffy isn't the kind of person who says lines like: "I'm sensing some tension here"
That's MCU script, not One Piece script

The sets looks kinda like Cowboy Bebop live action sets...

The teaser looks goofy...but One Piece manga/anime is also goofy af...so it could work...

Buggy looks scary...like a horror movie villain...not a bad thing tho...

And all the talk of Wonky CGI is just Hogwash, the CGI was top notch from beginning to end.
yeah sure.

I honestly don't know why people are complaining of bad CGI

I've been saying it since that these guys are fuckíng hypocrites. After all that clowning they did when Spiderman NWH came out, see how low they are stooping for fan service and nostalgia bait. I heard George Reeves was in it - The same George Reeves that committed suicide for a number of reasons, one of them being that his career took a negative turn after playing superman. What an interesting time to be a DC fan.
grin

Imagine using CGI to give dead actors a cameo...

Very pathetic...cash-grabbing tactics

You haven't seen doesn't mean it doesn't exists. They have rated F for some terrible movies and F is the lowest rating in the alphabet rating if common sense is anything to go by.

I doubt if any metric use "S" as a grade system, it is probably means the movie contains high sexual content, don't confuse it for a metric gauge and stick to what you know and you are comfortable with.
S is seen as a special metric...special grade...
I don't know if any critic site uses it, but my point is that alphabetical metrics aren't consistent

A+ exist for some...for some the highest is just "A"
Same as B and B+

The only way to actually know what the rating really means is to know the exact metric used.

A far easier and more accurate method is to use figures. Alphabets preset a vague score unless someone fully knows the entire metric system being used
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Baddestguyp(m): 1:18pm On Jun 17, 2023

Nice cameo

These nostalgia bait is getting more embarrassing. Even dead actors are now making cameos...

I'd like to believe F is the lowest. From our schools' metric of rating our performances in exams, A1 (A+ in the Cinemascore universe) is the highest, while F9 is the lowest.
is this a guess or real?
I have never seen below a C on Cinemascore

And alphabetical metrics are not constant lol

Some metrics see "S" as the highest grade...some see "A"
Some see "A+"

Same as lowest...some metrics don't use up to "F"...some use "C" as lowest...some use "

Nigerian University no be movie...some unis don't even use A+...it's A...even B+ and B- don't exist in some

So, The Flush had a B cinemascore, I remember someone telling me to wait for the cinemascore that this would be an unbiased take. I wonder who DC fans will blame this on now. These movies are above it's level. 😂
and someone wants to tell me that an "F" exists in Cinemascore when movies like Thor Love and Thunder and Shazam got a B+?

I'm assuming you went to school, so you want to tell me you don't know were the Alphabetic metrics ends or you just want to clown yourself?
I don't follow Cinemascore but I haven't seen any movie rated below a C by them...

And alphabetical metrics are not constant lol

Some metrics see "S" as the highest grade...some see "A"
Some see "A+"

The only movie I anticipated this year which kinda didn't disappoint is extrACTION , fully lived up to it's name..

Would have given them a solid 9/10 but they didn't kill off that stupid Sandro kid.."Snitches must get stitches"..
yes the kid was annoying...
But that's what he is...a kid.

Just like Tyler said, he is confused. He made mistakes...he doesn't know who to trust...he was being told different things

Extraction 2.......8.8/10

Solid action movie. The objective was clear.
No one went in expecting some grandiose story...
But I won't go into spoilers

The uncut action scenes of the extraction from prison to the train and to their extraction point was incredible...
I heard it took 4 months just to film that scene...

Some insane directing there since everyone knew their roles...

I'm glad people are starting to appreciate uncut scenes more and more...I remember one of the legendary uncut fight scene from the old Korean movie: OLDBOY

Not like the cheap scenes with a million pointless cuts we mostly get in Hollywood nowadays...

for the record, I'm Not saying all action scenes with many cuts are bad...the Bourne movies did it well...and they used it with a purpose and efficiently...
But most movies after just use to make cheap effortless action scenes

Glad uncut scenes are getting more focus nowadays

The action scenes weren't realistic but never broke investment...not like the supernatural scenes in Fast and Furious.

They put in a lot of effort to make them as professional as possible, making full use of different artillery and kits

The only scenes I found incredibly hard to believe was the fight with helicopters on the train. At a point, they had a clean shot at Tyler but somehow, all their bullets managed to miss him out in the open while all of his landed on the chopper

Was it better than the first movie?
I don't know...I think I enjoyed the first movie slightly better but it's been long. All I know is that both movies are very good...it could go either way

So i think it boils down to preference and the matter here is that you prefer the fraction ratings. Using Alphabet or fractions or Percentage is basically the same. I have even seen stars as ratings, If you see any of these rating style, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out the metric guage the person is tending towards. It's a none issue in my opinion.
if A+ is the highest, then what is the lowest?

C- ?
D?
F?

Or maybe even "S" could be the highest
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Baddestguyp(m): 10:45am On Jun 17, 2023
Beorn:
I really don't see it that way or feel it's silly. I just think it's what they are more comfortable with or they chose to stand out from the rest of the pack using that style. Just like you have some media outlets using "stars" to rate or judge in their movies reviews.

Personally, I don't like it though and have never visited Cinemascore till few minutes ago when I went there to prove my point. I only come across them when I read the Wikipedia pages of certain movies and that's how I knew they use alphabet to rate their movies. I'm not fan of such ratings. I prefer rating from 1-10.
stars... especially 1-10 stars is still great...
Most people can understand it...
IMBD uses stars but final score is in digits...

The whole alphabetical score is too vague... different sites can have different meaning of these alphabets

If A+ is the highest, then what is the lowest?
D? C-? F?
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Baddestguyp(m): 10:43am On Jun 17, 2023
Broskyjames:
Cinemascore doesn't do reviews, it's just metric site to measure how good or bad a movie is from an audience point of view. Doesn't this invalidate all you just said?
well I don't use Cinemascore anyway...
I just see their scores and don't click...

I hate alphabetical scores
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Baddestguyp(m): 10:23am On Jun 17, 2023
Beorn:
My bad. It wasn't Metacritic I was suppose to type, I meant Cinemascore.
I think his point was that this alphabetical rating is a very sîlly and vague rating...

Whenever I see it myself, I personally ignore it...
It's too vague, you can't really tell from it...
Same as most people... because the alphabets can represent different scores...

I think Cinemascore do it so people focus more on their reviews than the score itself...

Same as the review I see on this thread. Whenever I see alphabetical scores, I personally ignore it and focus on the review itself...the score is pointless

so yes...using alphabets to score movies is a sîlly rating system except your intention is to get people to focus on the review and not the score

If you simply dropped an alphabet without a review to accompany it, it would be clownery...but with a review, it makes more sense
