Politics / Re: Tinubu Vows To Fight Smugglers, Corruption To Ruins by Badgers14: 6:01am On Mar 01
Let him fight BDC first.

Why does BdC have too much power in Nigeria??

Because the government gave it to them.

Why can't banks deduct money from customers account to effect a wire transfer?

Why sending customers to source dollars to pay to the bank so bank can send an ELECTRONIC TRANSACTION ABROARD??

Why are some schools and companies charging customers in dollars, while the Nigerian currency is naira?

When will Gandollar be prosecuted??

Please don't quote me, I have low battery?

Health / Re: How Do I Travel With Antiretroviral Drugs For My Brother by Badgers14: 1:33pm On Feb 29
Chikolo24:
Dear Nairalanders,

My younger brother was diagnosed with HIV when he applied for a stidy visa to canda. Fortunately, he was granted the visa. However he is yet to get health insurance in Canada. I intend traveling there soon and they are asking that I come with his drugs.

Please advise. Can I travel with ARV drugs on his behalf? Are there risks associated?

Aren't there NGOs or even government Health centers that could provide this medication for free? Or at little to no cost in Canada?

You think Banks will just hand over the USD to you?

It reached a point in Nigeria where you can't access PTA without a 50-50 with the bankers.

Why would customer need usd cash to pay their supplier in China or pay thier kids school fees abroad??

That's my argument, those transactions are done electronically so why can't bank just do it electronically from the start instead of having a customer go source usd at bdc then bring the dollar to bank then bank will resell the usd to bdc and effect the customers transfer electronically.

erico2k2:

Right I arrived safely back in london yesterday.
SO here it goes my experience, when going I was allowed to travel on my expired Nigerian passport, it was signed at arrival in Port Harcourt international vis Lufthansa. Now returning was a different ball game. You are meant to have a valid Nigerian passport or show proof you have paid for a replacement passport if not you will be charged by immigration up to 50K,I saw people being charged, but I have an ID car that meant I was let off, so I did not pay.
SO, in summary, you will need a valid Nigerian passport to leave Nigeria even with your USA or UK passport. (1st hand information here)

grin

I am glad your journey was smooth.

I am curious on the ID part.

What kind of ID is this? NIN registration?

But wetin Nigerians dey use dollars do inside Nigeria?

FG and CBN know the right thing to do but they won't do it.

Why can't people just go to their banks and effect a wire transfer to their kids school abroad or pay their supplier in China??

Rather the system wants to fleece the populace by telling them to go and buy dollar from bdc and come and pay to the bank.. it's not like the bank will carry the dollar and deposit to bank of India or bank of england.. the transaction is still done electronically..

So why not the bank conduct the transaction electronically from the get go??

No one needs 8 PHD degrees from Harvard to fix this issue..

The solution is there but because of corruption and greediness, they don't want to implement it.

She didn't drop the name. It is just going to be her work name.

Nicholas Cage did the same thing because he wanted to be recognised in the industry by merit, and not by family connections to F.F Coppola. Malia wants to be recognised through the works of her own hands and not because she is related to a famous father.

People are already drinking pandol for someone's headache.

She just wanted to create a path for herself. The name "Obama" does come with its own pressure. Many people that didn't like her fathers politically views might take their frustrations on her..

Someway somehow, I think you should be more worried about the "originality" of the liquid content of the bottle than the price for a potential poison you paid for with your hard-earned 5k.

Supposedly "imported wine" that is sold for N5k should have been the first red flag.

N5k = $3.

As strong n stable as the Rand is against the dollar you will bever see anybody in SA with dollar. Their bank do not have or allow dorm acct in any currency.

I wonder what intelligence Tinubu/Cardoso need to close all foreign currency domicile acct n make them illegal with the dollar situation in Nigeria. Nigerians do not need dorm account to pay fees abroad, all you need is have your bank do the transaction on your behalf once you pay the equivalent that is how I transfered fund from SA to USA n that is how I was paid when receiving money from the USA in SA.

I wonder why dollar should be made an alternative legal tender in Nigeria with the foolish CBN governor acting like a novice.

I have been saying this for years..
We all know the problem of our country but the powers that be don't want to fix.

Why arresting BDC folks in the street.. that doesn't stop anything..

Most people that deal with BDC have their contact and sometimes their transactions are done inside the bank if the volume is big.

If naira is solely utilized in Nigeria.. if people can just walk inside their bank and effect a wire at an official rate, who would patronize the BDC? No one would tell them to close shop .. they would close their shops by themselves
