Ninnie35: Good afternoon. Please how soon can I reapply for an F1 visa after refusal? Please answer, thanks Immediately. But the issue is getting a date. However, they always advise you should only re-apply if your circumstances have changed. If you know the reason you were initially denied and can defend yourself at the next interview, all well and good! |

Gigdraft: @MzWendy and @Badguy001, Please inform me when you eventually secure a second expedited appointment with a single MRV receipt, even when the first interview wasn’t successful.
I sincerely hope I am wrong because that would really help you, @MzWendy, meet your enrollment deadline.
I can’t wait to celebrate with you! The point here is that she is yet to interview. Her emergency request was denied not a visa denial. You are entitled to two EA requests on one MRV so long you have not interviewed. |

MzWendy: Oh really! Please how soon can I apply again? What was your initial emergency request location? Whatever the case, you may re-apply immediately whether you are switching location or sticking to the same location. I believe once you log on to CGI, you should still see an emergency request option. |

Gigdraft: Hi MzWendy,
Unfortunately, you do not qualify for an additional expedited appointment at this time. Hence, I would advise you to defer your admission. Don't worry, the appointment portal will be updated later on. Therefore, you won't have to wait till May, 2023. Just keep checking the portal.
I can't wait to celebrate with you.
Sorry, how does she not qualify for an additional emergency request? I believe everyone has the option of two emergency requests on one MRV. |

Pash3685: The question is why that same grade is not captured in the final scores You like stress o! Even the ETS doesn't add the scores in Verbal and Quant to give you a combined maximum of 340. The idea is that every test on the GRE actually measures different skills so leaving them as individual scores is the best! You should note that the ETS indicates percentiles for each section of the test and not a single percentile for an overall score. Because again, these individual tests measure different skills. A humanities person for example is expected to score high in Verbal while a STEM person should score high in Quant. |

I get that people are skeptical about this vaccination thing, but we all know what we want to achieve here, why not take it once and for all and know that interview and visa are all you have left to worry about.
Some restaurants here don’t even let you in if you are not vaccinated, they are taking this thing 1000% serious. Let’s avoid all this late running around stress. Getting an interview date and getting the visa is already stress enough. Very well stated, succinct, and absolute! Thank you! |

For those that have travelled, is it really the case that one must be fully vaccinated to enter the US?
The last dose I took was crazy. And I still have one more dose to go which I ain't even eligible for before I travel. |

SonugaMike: Hello guys,
My interview date is January but I would like to change my passport pickup location from Lagos to Abuja.
Is this something I can still do?
How possibly is it? Yes, it is. Just log on to the appointment portal and you will see the feature as part of the boxes on the right side or directly occupying most of the screen. I changed mine (from VI to Isolo) after scheduling my Abuja appointment. Why do you want to change though? You feel it's faster getting one's passport that way esp if one is interviewing in Abuja? |

Timotte: Hi,
I sincerely understand your concern as the wording on the webpage suggests that the passport should be valid at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay in the US. I'm not exactly sure if it's a new change as the same wording are on different other "state.gov" webpages. However, up till December 23 when the embassy went on break, I know of a few folks with passports with only 9-12 months to expiration who got their visa approved without any problem. To be doubly sure, you can send an email to the embassy and they'll get back with clarification. Thank you! Yes, I have sent an email to the embassy! Thank you! Well appreciated! |

Timotte: 1. Valid Passport: must be valid at least 6 months into the future. 2. Valid U.S. Visa 3. Form I-20. Make sure you sign it. 4. I-901 Fee Receipt (SEVIS fee receipt) 5. Copy of your admissions letter and proof of funds: While you may not be asked for it, it is advisable for incoming new students to carry these documents as well.
Note that covid vaccination for F-1 visa holders isn't required at the POE. However, the airline may require covid vaccination (see email screenshot below from the US embassy) Hi Tim, good evening. I need a clarification on the matter I stated above about having a valid passport throughout the duration of one's course of study. Refer to this screenshot I took from the US traveldocs website. Is it a new policy or what?

Please, anyone here who got their visa even though their passport isn't valid throughout the duration of their program? I need to know whether I have to renew my passport since the US travel website states the passport must be valid throughout the duration of the program. |

Salsabil88: Not necessarily you must renew till your end of date of program. What is required is at least 6 month validity from The date of lecture commencement. Thank you! But the travel website states something different. Refer: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typefandm.aspI have attached a screenshot.

SonugaMike: That’s not true, December 2022 is still fine. So long it’s still valid at least 6 months into your arrival you are good. By law, you cannot renew your passport is in its final 6 months except you want to pay more Thank you! I also thought so but the US travel docs website ( https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typefandm.asp) states at least 6 months beyond the period of stay.

Hello peeps! Does anyone know how the whole international passport thing goes these days? Express. Apparently, my passport expires December, 2022 before my program end date. Since it is stated that one must have a valid passport throughout their program duration, I guess I have to renew my passport right away. |

ibcircuit: Hello House,
Does this write up fit for an EA application ? ;
I write to request the need for an emergency appointment for my visa interview nearer than January 06, 2022, as the school program begins on January 18, 2022, while the international orientation program comes up on January 13, 2022. Moreover, there is a need for me to have arrived there like ten days earlier due to the quarantine exercises that I will need to undertake. I will really be happy if I am considered for the appointment. Thank you for your understanding.
Lagos Consulate !!! Do you already have an EA for January 6 from Lagos? If not, just switch to Abuja! Lagos is a precarious affair! It's not worth the long wait! Plus: late arrival letter, etc can always be got from your school! |

Tyleet: So, it looks like I was the only one who got denied for an EA in Abuja. I submitted everything required - i20, passport, sevis recceipt, mrv fee receipt - yet I got denied with no explanation. What exactly am I supposed to do in this case? Is there someone I need to talk to about this pls? Was there a format for writing the request that I did not follow? Those of you who got approved, how did you write the request? So sorry about your experience. Might it be related to a cooling period that is required (after being previously denied a visa) before you can apply for an emergency interview? If not, see if you can apply again. In my case, I attached Admission Letter, SEVIS, i20, International Passport, and DS 160 Confirmation Page. I gave reasons like: (1) Program start date bla bla bla (I mentioned the start date) and is within 60 days; (2) Compulsory orientation program for new Master's students happening before the start date (I mentioned the date) ; (3) Quarantine purposes and need to be in the US early enough yo observe the protocol; (4) Non-transferability of my scholarship to any subsequent semester. |

Hazardd: hmmm.. we una answer me Oh! I just replied you before seeing this! Still perform a WES evaluation, if your GPA comes up to 2.80, you do have a chance! Generally, you do have a chance if what you have done between your diploma and now is compelling enough! I am aware of a US CS professor at UIUC whose undergraduate GPA was 2.4/4.0 on the US Scale! And I read somewhere about an Asian whose GPA was even 2.16/4.00 at undergrad and got into Carnegie Mellon's CS Program! The challenge with your profile is that it's a polytechnic diploma but I think you stand a chance still. Check this out: https://www.nairaland.com/370346/what-hnd-equivalent-usaBest of luck! |

ifedayosol: Fill a new DS-160 form, choosing Abuja. save the new DS-160 application ID. sign in to ur CGIfederal portal, click update profile, erase the old DS-160 application ID and input the new one, then click on save/update. you would be transferred to Abuja ìmmediately. you can then start a new appointment schedule I requested for Abuja and submitted yesterday after cancelling the Lagos that was denied. First off, I filled a new DS 160 for Abuja. However, I logged on to the portal just now and I can't even see the emergency request feature or anything close nor is the "Reschedule" feature available. The only thing I see is the available Abuja July, 2022 appointment that I accepted before the emergency appointment request. Is this typical? |

Rocice: Pls can someone recommend any schools in US offering admission to a 2.2 grade I' m trying to streamline my application to a handful of schools cause of application fee Thanks alot A few things: 1. Alimi1's response (above) is as right as it gets! Perform an official transcript evaluation to determine what your grade is on the US scale (however, you may check out this for an unofficial version and see where you fall: https://support.scholaro.com/portal/en/kb/articles/ordering-a-gpa-report-um-rackham). Once it is above 3.0/4.0, you are good! As Alimi stated, a few schools accept below that grade point average compensated by years of relevant experience in the field you are running your Master's degree. 2. Do not limit your applications because of application fees. A lot of these US schools offer fee waivers. You just need to attend a virtual school event! 3. Try to write (if you haven't already) the GRE and IELTS and score highly in them. While there are waivers in some schools, getting very good scores may get you the scholarships or funding you need. Or rather, it may compensate for a low undergraduate GPA, hence 'tempting' enough to make the Admissions Committee take an important look at your profile. 4. If you are applying for Fall 2022, now is the time to begin to put together a strong application. Including chasing your undergraduate lecturers for strong, recommendation letters. 5. I don't know what your intended Master's is. But here are a few schools you may wish to check out: Illinois State University, Kent State University, Bowling Green State University, and if you have so much faith: Stanford University, MIT, UC Berkeley, Princeton University, Yale University! Best of luck! |
