ATERI: Kayode Fashola, Lateef Jakande and Obafemi Awolowo have one degree each and not in politics. Much education does not teach common sense. And as for Obama, how many intelligent black men would describe him as a good president? Definitely not if you are a Nigerian. Prof Utomi is one of those that the Nigerian people must watch if we are not to be sold to the white man as slaves again. Today, what Nigeria needs are intellectuals whose brain cells are good enough to know that western economic prescriptions are meant to cripple Africa. If you don`t know that simple fact, you have no business in politics. A prof. that believes Nigerian currency should be devalued further ought to be tried for treason. You mentioned intellectuals. Chances are that you'd find intellectuals amongst educated people than people who aren't educated, and i agree with you. However, I consider Obama a good President for his country. Most decision he has made, if not all is for the best interest of Americans. And i also mentioned relevant degrees. Eg i would rather vote for an intellectual with a law degree as president than an intellectual with an english degree...its just more relevant. |

Im sorry to say.. But Obama graduated from Columbia uni... Previous presidents of USA graduated from very good school...usually ivy league schools...even other countries, their leaders graduated from very good schools... Maybe if Nigeria voted educated people as their leaders...We may have a chance to have a better Nigeria. Trust me, how educated our leaders are actually affect how the country is going to be governed... Next time we should vote for a president that has a masters degree in a program relating politics or a relevant program. Remember not to vote a President that has a bachelors in Agric Or a President that has no degree! Waiting for bants.... |

I agree with you... But saying a black man is flawed... I dont agree with you . If you said humans in general are flawed id agree... But u specifically referring to a black man as flawed, higlights inferiority complex. You should have said "challenges a black man has to overcome is so so and so" or something like that. Because it is challenging for a black man to not identify with differences and oppose similarities does not necessarily make him flawed. Take note. |

mazeltov: All politicians are corrupt. You want to know why? Because politics is a dirty game so there is no way someone would participate in politics with soiling his/her hands with dirts. FACT!!! And when we are talking about corruption sir, it's not just about stealing public fund or financial mismanagement, NO!!corruption goes beyond that. Even corruption persists in the American system so if you we are waiting for a Siant President or a saint Political Party and blameless Politicains to come and govern us, then our plight and suffering will be immesurable. I am not trying to justify Apc and I am not saying Apc members are Saints and Angels but to be sincere and be fair enough, we should all allow Apc to give us taste of what they have to offer for at least 4 years. We pretend to be playing opposition but we should know what we are wishing for - And honestly, back in 2011, I hate Apc more than anyone else here on Nairaland and I never knew that I would later be the one drumming support for Apc government now which is when I later realised that Pdp is playing ''baba suwe'' game with our future in this country. And I keep repeating it, Pdp has reversed the glory of this Nation for a good 16 years. If Qatar can make it, why won't Nigeria make it. With the structure and system Apc is using to operate, If they should rule Nigeria for 16 years, where do you think Nigeria would be? Nigeria would be better, just like how Yar'adua and Jonathans tenure was better than Onasanjos own. |
Politics › Re: Reason Why I Dislike Apc & Their Followers by Badguytinz(m): 12:35am On Dec 26, 2015 |
mazeltov: If there is anybody that doesn't like Apc, it shouldn't be from the mouths of the Nigerian youths in this country. It's so unfortunate that some youths and students are yet to know the extent of damage Pdp has done to their future but I pray it won't be too late before God opens their sight of understanding, remove their stupidity and replace it with sense. Amen!!
If you want to know how bad Pdp and some thieves have ruined this country, then compare Qatar with Nigeria. Qatar is also an Opec member just like Nigeria that depends heavily on Crude oil as her major source of revenue - Nigeria was colonised by Britain and became independent in 1960 while Qatar also share the same colonial master with Nigeria and Qatar gained her independence sometimes around 1971 which is a difference of 11 years yet Nigeria has nothing to show for it. Today, I stand to tell you that Qatar is the richest country in the world!!! Despite the fact that we have more natural resources than Qatar, yet they are well structured than us - I don't know why God would allow a cursed Party like Pdp to govern us. Pdp has reversed the glory of this nation through corruption and massive looting. Yes Apc may not be getting things right no doubt about that but anybody that is still praying for Pdp to return back to power should be tied with big stone and be thrown inside River Niger!! If a little country Qatar can make it, why won't Nigeria make it?
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!! I'm sorry to say but PDP =APC and APC=PDP You may not agree with me, but you will soon enough. So in other words APC is just as corrupt as PDP Sheikina |

dearpreye: Why do you think only hungry charlatans are agitating for Biafra? Why do you think I'm not gainfully employed?
Besides, this thread isn't about Biafra but about the latent issues that have given the Biafra agitators a genuine case. So let's keep the thread that way.
It's being over 5 years I stopped living for MYSELF. I live for values and beliefs; values that will certainly outlive me. Till a man stops living for himself, he's yet to truly live. I never said "only". To handle the population of Nigeria is hard, three major tribes struggling to have the presidential seat. An average typical nigerian would want a President from their ethnicity with the mindset their region would be favoured. There maybe more to Biafra for some people, but with the harsh conditions in 2015, right now the mindset of southern youths is that if the separation happens and Biafra is world recognized as a republic (certified) ,there is a better possibility for their future and that they would most likely have a greener pasture. I'm not saying it is a bad thing to have a better life, infact it is good to have good life. But That's just the way I see the see the situation. And I don't know if you're gainfully employed or not, I meant to say if you were put in such a position, what would you do. However are you gainfully employed or not? Do you find what I wrote plausible? Or do you agree with it fully or partially? |
Politics › What The Government Could Do To Help Nigeria As A Nation by Badguytinz(op): 6:28am On Jul 11, 2015 |
1) Education: I will stress this, EDUCATION. This a very big problem we have and what we all seem to know as education is going to school and A's and goods grades, and probably go to a big name school like corona. Taa! An average Nigerian child knows little to nothing about Nigeria, and then how do we expect to see a better future when all they think about is Rick Ross is dope or I want to be like Nicki minaj. However, I think what I'm about to write may help. Appointing the right teachers with the right pay - Even though most our government schools may be haphazard and dirty at least let's get the enlightenment we are thirsting for. Most teacher only care about their salary , and when they teache it is like as if they hate the students/ pupils, beating them viciously like they are the cause of all their problems. On the other hand a good teacher would correct the student or pupil appropriately, teaches in an enthusiastic manner such that the student won't see going to school as a chore. There is more to this, but can't type for long mahn. Rejuvenate some places we call universities, with good facilities and experienced professors and a few really good lecturers. Adding /making more universities of at least satisfactory standard 2) Electricity - I mean like really how much will it cost? $1billion tops . Nigeria can definitely afford that.if we had electricity 24/7, do they realize how that can make businesses boom. Make our economy better. Greed is a bastard. Some may be against what I'd say, but taking like $5billions from foreign strictly for the betterment of Nigeria wouldn't hurt, after all we need money to make some more. 3) Entrepreneurship and Privatisation: what else can I say about thsee? I mean they are the keys to economic development. But our government is paddy paddy /monopoly 4)Health: We have so many medical graduates all over the world, some even went to havard, but they stay oversea to practice. However I don't blame them because the starting salary of a doctor in Naija is 200k-400k , while they can practice abroad with a starting salary of about $150k. If the government is wise , I advise with thin a ten year span, they build at least two high standard and maybe 3 other average standard hospitals in each state. Also the starting salary for a well trained medical doctor be a minimum of 600k a month. 5) Other necessary developments, like agriculture ,research, energy/building oil refinery, infrastructure, should follow I have probably left some stones unturned, but the four mentioned above would help Kickstart Nigeria towards progression |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Still Has A Date With Truth! by Badguytinz(m): 5:28am On Jul 11, 2015 |
dearpreye: A few days ago, a seemingly innocuous thread I created here was taken down on the grounds it supported the Biafra Cause. I wrote that article in the deepest demonstration of loyalty to truth and fairness. I agree it may have violated a rule on the site but I'm still shocked it wasn't relegated to the secessionist/Ethnic section. It was removed and hidden. I'll still try to state the issues that Nigeria must address if it must experience meaningful development, progress and national peace.
For all intent and purposes, Nigeria can work if we all are willing to sit and talk sincerely about our myriads of problems. All the agitation for Biafra and other secessionist moves will simply fade into space if we can address this problems. And the problems aren't unknown to us.
A Borrowed System.
Our current constitution, which plays no small part in our stagnant situation, was s implied copied and styled after the US Constitution. It's advisable to endeavour to follow the pattern of a nation that runs one of the longest and largest democracies in the world. But it's retrogression and inimical to tailor our system after that of the US without considering our particular uniqueness. The Japanese, Koreans and the Chinese have been sincere and brave enough to design a constitution that fits their uniqueness, and that's largely responsible for their growth and development.
If Nigeria must grow, it must stop making little and biased amendments to the Constitution and get for itself a better and more participatory constitution. We don't practice something you don't own. So far, Nigeria is like a company that runs on another's policy. It has never worked.
True Federalism
Solve this problem, and see Nigeria on its part to growth. The current unitary system only breeds laziness, parasitism, mind boggling corruption and underdevelopment. I can write pages on this economic injustice. We've been only reading of Excess Crude Account, but when are we going to read of Excess Groundnut Account? No system can survive on this kind of shocking injustice. If a state has only 3 billion naira, can it tolerate an individual therein embezzling 2 billion naira out of it? No way. But that's the case with the current situation. States simply fold their arms till nd wait till end of money, collect allocations, squander it and them wait till the next month ending. The cycle never ends. If Nigeria doesn't address these situations, then human lives will surely be used to sustain the current Nigeria.
I'm shocked as to why a people will know their problems and keep playing the ostrich. Whether how long Nigeria runs, it has a date with these salient and solemn truths. Nigeria's problem is that we are hungry. A hungry man is an angry man. If actually we practiced true capitalism, not some sherre werre thing we are doing, I think all of us will be fine. This is human nature: We become selfish when we struggle to survive. Assuming you got a good paying job, living life well do you think biafra go bother you? Answer sincerely |
