ACM10: No doubt! There are quacks everywhere, even in Enugu (where you will get the highest concentration of consultants and specialist), but to single out Onitsha and Aba is rather unfair. There are more herbalists masquerading as doctors in Owerri. There are fewer specialists in Onitsha because our people cannot afford to pay their exorbitant fee. How many of Onitsha residents can pay #150K for appendectomy? Besides, being a specialist does not guarantee mastery and dexterity in many surgical procedures. Visit UNTH and NAUTH to see many senior registers in surgery that cannot do lumpectomy, or consultants that are still learners. My boss friend is a consultant urologist at General hospital Onitsha. He has done many failed hydrocoelectomies. Many of them visit my boss hospital at Fegge for a repeat surgery. Don't be deceived, there are many truly gifted GPs in Onitsha. We know them.
Like I said earlier, no governor made serious effort to fund health sector in Anambra. Peter Obi did slightly better than Ngige by upgrading few infrastructures. He did not make any serious attempt to attract highly qualified medical personnel to the state by inducing them with incentives and improved pay package plus better working environment, just like Dr Sam Egwu did in Ebonyi. That it why things like health insurance should exist in Nigeria.... If I had insurance I won't worry about 150k for appendectomy. |

Politics › Re: Why Are We Not Using Coins In Nigeria by Badguytinz(op): 6:12am On Jun 02, 2015 |
socialmediaman: @op very valid question, because in a way it would reduce the rise of inflation on consumed products, but coins would much more useful when most businesses use e-payment, and they should be light and portable too.
I remember having so much coins in my last visit to the U.S. that I had to donate them to someone's piggy bank I second your opinion |

I am Igbo, and certainly i would want to know another language apart from my mother tongue, but what youve mentioned is kinda impossible . I would suggest the compulsory learning of yoruba in primary and secondary school. Also they should include the compulsory learning of igbo and hausa too. Knowing these major language could be a yardstick to having a more united nigeria |

People are blaming him for not doing anything for the kidnapped girls. Is it even easy to find individuals that are kidnapped for money Is not easy..... thats all.....And yeah, America coming to nigeria to help fight boko harm is an agenda for them (unsure of what they want) ...And sure this could be a reason jonathan rejected their help..... I don't really trust those people. They are smart and can be subtly devious. . Like they say no thing comes for free, a price must be paid |

Jokay07: off lift, you're tawking as if you are not in nigeria Nope, its just a simple thought. That's why countries like America will always be better than the countries in Africa. They are always united..... Trust me, we underestimate the power of unity. Nigeria can never get there as long as we keep swimming in such hostility. |

Jokay07: I need to document this article, they are bitter truth which can't be go against. I like igbo people so much but one thing is common among them, do you know it? It's called ''greediness''. If it's possible to read every post that belongs to igbo people on nairaland as regards to the issue of ownership of lagos, you will always notice that trait of greediness in them. It's even an insult to be arguing about the true ownership of Lagos with Igbos, it's a big INSULT!!. How would one Emeka or Ifeyinwa leaves Anambra or Enugu in the eastern region and come to west and be dragging the ownership of Lagos with the yorubas, is that not an insult? You guys are visitors and nothing can change it. I'm not objecting to what you said, but visitors? Dude, Nigeria is A country... would you call a man who comes originally comes from California but lives in New York a visitor? |
