Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Seven Important CV Parts That Needs More Attention by Badonasty(m): 7:44am On Aug 20, 2017
tripleY:
A CV is an outline of a person’s educational and professional history. It summarizes how your skills and abilities can contribute to an organisation. It helps get you a Job Interview. It is employers’ screening tool.

Below are Seven Parts of CV you need to consider when designing a CV.

1. Headings
Don’t write CV, curriculum vitae or résumé at the top. The employer/recruiter can see what it is.
Write your name in a bold format so they can find you quickly in a stack of CVs
Do not use italic format
Use a serious and professional email address. E.g adakoleutaji@gmail.com, adakole.utaji@gmail.com, adakoleutaji@yahoo.com,
Do not use email like samcares4you@yahoo.com, sam4real@gmail.com,
Do not include your photo on your CV

2.Objectives

Also called ‘career objective’ or ‘job objective’
An Objective can be helpful if you are applying to a company that interests you, but not in response to a particular job opening.
It isn’t necessary to write a full sentence
Make it short and specific. A vague, general objective wastes space and the reader’s time.

3. Key Skills and Experience

A very brief summary of your most relevant skills and experience. Employers/recruiters scan CVs for 30 seconds or less before deciding if they want to read further. Let them know what you want them to know about you in seconds
Customize! For example, use ‘Key Marketing Skills & Experience’ for a marketing position
Use phrases instead of full sentences
Capitalize the first letter in each new bullet point
Many companies and recruiters use internet to search for skills and experience that match their requirements. This is a good opportunity to include key words and phrases that would help them locate the required skills on your CV

4. Education

As fresh and young graduate, you will probably want to put the education section next. But applicants who have lots of work experience place that section before education in their CVs.
Starting with your most recent education list:
Your HND/BSc. Or Masters Degree etc
The full name of the Institution of learning should be written in English, location - city and country
The period of time you have been there – month and year or year of graduation
Do not include grades unless they are above average
If you have received any academic honors, include them in this section
Do not write 2,1, or Two One instead write 2:1 as Second Class Upper
At the end of the education section, you can list any additional training or course(s) relevant to the job you are applying for

5. Experience

Using ‘Experience’ instead of ‘Work Experience’ enables you to include paid, and non-paid work, internships, volunteer work, and other experience that has helped develop your skill set. Employers care more that you have the experience rather than where you got it.
Indicate your employer, the dates of employment (month/year), your position and your key responsibilities and accomplishments
Use reverse chronological order: Start with your most recent experience and work backwards.
Use the present tense for current positions and the past tense for work you are no longer doing.
Use action verbs to describe your responsibilities and accomplishments.
Include any work-related recognition you have received at the end of this section

6. Additional Skills
Computer skills
Any other relevant skills including language proficiency

Note: Skills that are particularly relevant for a job application should also be listed under Key Skills and Experience

7. References

References Available upon request’ is optional. It is understood that you will provide them when asked to do so.
You can include about three references in your CV
Try to avoid family relatives in your CV
Make it professional: Your reference may include your colleagues at work, your head of department, your lecturer, a friend etc

.
Considering these seven parts of CV will help you design a winning CV that may earn you a call for test/interview

Founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has called on the Nigerian government to bring ailing President Muhammadu Buhari to him as he will heal him of his ailment.
Maharaj ji, who spoke at the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria also assured Nigerians that challenges confronting the nation would soon be over.

He said he was ready to heal Buhari if the presidency could bring him home.

“I do not believe in sickness. The President of Nigeria is great. And he should remain so. And that is why if he comes to me for healing, I will heal him. I have done it for several public office holders. I remembered that I treated Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), when he was afflicted by an ailment. I cured him. But he later denied me.

He said the presence of the president was needed in the country, as it would douse agitation of Nigerians and help address issues challenging the country.

According to him:

“Since he left, the acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has been acting on his behalf. And I believe he has defied Nigerians prediction that he will be a figure head. I believe he knows what he is doing.”

Maharaj Ji also condemned the ongoing indefinite industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over Federal Government unfulfilled promises, as an act aimed to draw the country’s education sector backward.

Culture › Re: Meet Ooni Of Ife’s Sisters Who Ensured The Emergence Of A New Queen by Badonasty(m): 10:34pm On Aug 15, 2017
omoashy:
There is no love-lost among them and Olori Wuraola.

The three, Princess Folashade, Princess Adesola and Princess Bimpe are sisters to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Known to always appear with the monarch to most places he went especially when he was newly installed, there is obviously a supremacy battle among them and Olori Wuraola, who was the only wife and queen in the palace.
As expected, Olori Wuraola put them in their place and this ignited a silent war.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, formally took for wife, former Wuraola Itohan Sonia Otiti Zainab Obanor on March 12, 2016. Initially all seems to be well with the queen and her in-laws but everything turned awry with what a source described as “the attitude of Olori Wuraola towards family members.”

According to a report from TheCapital.ng that broke the alleged crash of the Ooni of Ife/Olori Wuraola’s marriage, one of the reasons for the challenged union is the fact that the queen is at war with her in-laws:
The report says, “Inside sources described the marriage as a sham, plagued by suspicion, hatred and devoid of love; they accused Olori of many unpublishable things and lack of commitment to her marital vows. Even as you read she is not on talking terms with her in-laws. The allegations are as wide as they are wild.”
Though sources close to the queen have denied any marriage crash, its obvious the young marriage is challenged. The sisters, who could have being a source of help for Olori Wuraola have left her in the cold.
“Unfortunately for the sisters, they cannot narrate all they have experienced in the hands of the Queen. When they went on the USA and London tours with the king, Olori Wuraola dealt with them. Before, the sisters lived in the palace but they are no longer there. In fact, when the Ooni of Ife’s father, Price Ropo Ogunwusi, clocked 75 in March 2017, Queen Wuraola, who is a daughter-in-law, was conspicuously absent at the low key get-together,” a source close to the palace said.
At the Baba Oba’s 75th birthday, the three princesses and very few family members were present.
Well, these three princesses— Princess Folashade, Princess Adesola and Princess Bimpe— who are the Kabiyesi’s eyes and ears on the social scene, saw to it that a paramount ruler in Yoruba land did not end up with just a queen. They were said to have arranged the meeting of the new queen, Bolanle who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, with the Ooni.
Though the new queen stays in the personal house of the Ooni, she gets the attention and love of the three princesses.

That the Ogunwusi princesses keep a close-knit family cannot be ignored in the scheme of things in the palace especially with the issue of who the king marries.

Fortunately for them, their brother, the king, honours them too.
Who are these celebrity princesses? What’s about these princesses?
For Princess Folashade Fadairo who is the third child, she read English Language ditto for her younger sister, Princess Adesola Olojede. Adebimpe Daodu read Banking and Finance at the Osun State College of Technology.
Aside the fact that they co-run a business called FOLSOLBIM VENTURES, Folashade also runs a private business called FOLAR designs which is one of the most patronised beauty and gift items outfit in Lekki Ajah axis. Sola also oversees the affairs of Alpha Reign Ventures, an outfit that sells luxury phones. Adebimpe who is the last of them, was working as a health officer at Winnipeg regional health authority in Canada. The 40-year-old has relocated to Nigeria since her brother’s installation as king.

Career › Re: "There Is Money In Every Dump Ground You See In Abuja";Man Shares His Story.PICS by Badonasty(m): 10:29pm On Aug 15, 2017
ChangeIsCostant:
This story of a young man who took the bull by the horn in order to survive - is really inspiring. Despite being a graduate, the young man ventured into furniture making in Abuja to fend for himself due to lack of employment. And now it appears that the young man is getting on his feet financially as he sponsored himself through Masters degree program and is company has also been shortlisted to benefit the world bank GEM project..

Read the story as shared by The Humans Of Abuja

I came to Abuja as a corp member to serve my father's land, after our compulsory training, I found it difficult getting some where to do my primary assignment.

The beautiful female corp members where all accepted. Then I knew I had to take my destiny into my hands.

One particular day, I had only 100 naira with me and I was get back to Federal housing Lugbe. I calculated my movement and I had to walk all the way from 3 arms zone to wuse market but while I was trekking, I passed through Federal mortgage bank headquarters in central area very close to Ceddi plaza. I just walked in and asked to meet the admin personnel. That was how I met a man who happened to be the team leader in the department of organizational resources. I explained my problems to him and he asked me to drop my details and two weeks after I got a call to come to the bank. That was how I got to a placement to serve my nation.

During my service I lived in Kugbo area of Abuja. Kugbo hosts the biggest furniture market in Abuja. Every Saturday,I joined my cousin to his furniture workshop. That was how I developed interest in furniture making and interior works. By the time I passed out from NYSC, I ventured into the furniture business fulltime because by then the white, blue and red collar jobs were not coming and I decided to create my own job. I produced my first wardrobe with the last stipend NYSC paid me in 2011. Sold it and made another one and that's how I started. I had challenges but I kept moving.

In 2015 I registered my company with CAC and that's how EASTERN FOOTHILLS LTD was born. We are into the production of furniture items and interior works like wardrobes, Kitchen cabinet, sofas, school desk, dinning sets etc.

I tell people that there is money in every dump ground you see in Abuja. Just look very well and you will see the money. In every environment you find yourself ,there are business opportunities for you to exploit. Remain focused and do not be discouraged. See opportunity in any situation you find yourself.

Proceeds from my furniture business paid for my masters degree program in ABU Zaria where I studied INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS AND DIPLOMACY.

World bank saw how fast we were growing and our company was shortlisted to benefit the world bank GEM project. Our products are affordable, durable and reliable and we believe in "Made in Nigeria and Nigeria content.

Politics › Re: Buhari Earns $58bn In 27 Months To Jonathan’s $454bn In 6 Years by Badonasty(m): 3:55pm On Aug 15, 2017
kahal29:
Nigeria’s earnings from oil production and sales in the 27 months President Muhammadu Buhari has been in office is far less than what the previous government led by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan earned in one year, Daily Sun can authoritatively reveal.

Since the Buhari government came to power, oil price has been in the all-time low, to the extent that a barrel of oil once sold for $27. Previous oil price peaked at $120 per barrel once, during the Jonathan’s government.

According to figures from the Organisation of Oil Producing Exporting Countries (OPEC) on Nigeria’s oil earnings since 2010 till date, the Buhari government has raked in $58 billion since coming to office.

A breakdown of the oil revenue by the Buhari government showed that between June and December 2015, the government earned $16 billion. In 2016, the Buhari government earned $26 billion, while it has raked in $16 billion this year, between January and July. The statistics showed that the Jonathan government earned a total of $453.5 billion between 2010 and 2015.

A breakdown of the Jonathan government’s earning showed that $70.7 billion was earned in 2010, $100.1 billion in 2011 and $96.9 billion in 2012.

Also, the Jonathan government earned $86.9 billion in 2013, $77.9 billion in 2014 and $21 billion between January and May 2015.

Meanwhile, the Buhari government has received kudos from the European Union (EU) and the United States government over its prudence in managing scarce resources.

According to EU officials, who pleaded anonymity, the Buhari government has shown responsibility in managing funds, in the face of low revenue.

The official said it was commendable that even when Nigeria’s revenue has nose-dived, the Buhari government has been able to meet its obligations.

“The EU is impressed that the Nigerian government has been afloat despite the drop in oil earning. From what we gathered, the government has been meeting its obligations. This is commendable,” he said.

When reminded that the Federal Government had borrowed to finance the budget, he said this was acceptable, as no country would survive without borrowing. He said as long as there was conscious effort to fight corruption, whatever money borrowed will be used for the purpose it was meant.

“There is no problem about borrowing, as long as the money is used for the stated purpose. We have seen this in Nigeria under the current government. This is good development,” the EU official said.

On the part of the United States, the country’s official said the Nigerian government had shown fiscal responsibility.

According to a top US official, who would not want to be mentioned, for a government that is not earning much money to be running shows the ingenuity in economic management.

He said that the Buhari government has shown determination to ensure that government revenue was not frittered away by corrupt officials, adding: “This is the greatest plus for the Nigerian government.”

The US officials said if the Buhari government could keep afloat in economic distress, it means that the government would do more for the country if the economic were buoyant.

In another development, the Presidency has said that the President Buhari administration was handed an economy ravaged by years of mismanagement and corruption.

In a statement, Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, while reacting to statements credited to former president Jonathan and Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said: “Under the previous administration, there was money but now things are very hard.”

The presidential aide added: “It is understandable that Dr. Jonathan kept his comments short, because a cursory look at any sector clearly indicated that he and his government presided over the most monumental and tragic economic mismanagement recorded in our national history.

“The oil sector boomed under his tenure, with oil prices as high as 120 dollars and peace in the Nigeria Delta. Nigeria earned unprecedented dollar revenues. Sadly, that is where the story turns sour.

“There is nothing to show for the revenues earned; no major capital project was completed, neither power generation, road development, rail nor agriculture benefited from the windfall earnings.

“Rather, the administration presided over the diversion of oil revenues on such a massive scale that even without the protection now accorded to Whistle blowers, the then Central Bank Governor blew not only a whistle but a trumpet.”

Highlighting the atrocities perpetrated under Jonathan’s government, Shehu said: “Indeed the president once celebrated having the largest number of private jets, whilst our youths languished without jobs, our fields stood idle and our factories began the layoff of workers.

“Government simply reticulated oil revenue through personal spending by corrupt leaders, wasteful expenses and salaries. This was done rather than investing in what would grow the economy. Economies grow due to capital investment in assets like seaports, airports, power plants, railways, roads and housing.”

He lamented that Nigeria could not record a single major infrastructural project in the last 10 years, saying, “in short the money was mismanaged. Shehu said President Buhari’s administration was left with the task of facing serious economic challenges from the oil majors, which included the demand for six billion dollars owed by Nigeria for oil that had already been sold or stolen.

He said it was only aggressive borrowing by the Ministry of Finance, under Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, that prevented Federal Government from also owing salaries.

“The economic wisdom of borrowing to pay recurrent bills is a questionable one, particularly as those paid would have included over 45,000 that have subsequently been removed by the Buhari led administration as ghost workers.

“It also included the lavish costs of chartering private jets, first class travel and other wasteful acts that have been eliminated under this administration. To compound the problem, the government was borrowing heavily and owed contractors and international oil companies.”

On what the Buhari government is doing, Shehu said it had also increased spending on capital projects, especially on infrastructure needed to make Nigerian businesses competitive and create jobs. He said government had blocked the leakages that allowed its revenues to be siphoned into private hands while focusing on other key sectors that could create jobs and or generate revenue such as agriculture, solid minerals and manufacturing.

According to him, if these things had been done when the oil price was as high as 120 dollars per barrel, Nigeria will not be in the current predicament.

“We would not be suffering now if we had no cash reserves but we had power, or a rail system, or good roads, or good housing. But we don’t have money and we don’t have the projects either’” he said.

According to him, there was no justification for residents to mete out any form of punishment on any suspect without recourse to the rule of law.

He said: “On August 8, a distress call was received at Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Station that some people suspected to be ritualists/kidnappers were seen hiding in a canal at Obadeyi Bus Stop, along Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway.

The DPO led a team of policemen to the spot and on getting there, they met a large violent crowd trying to lynch the so called suspects. As the policemen were trying to rescue the alleged suspects, the crowd descended on them, beating and throwing stones at them.”

Owoseni said six policemen were arrested for extortion, attempted murder and defilement, adding that they would be prosecuted. Those arrested for extortion and armed robbery are – Sergeants Benjamin Oboh, Onyenedu Kennedy and Monday Ekhigato.

One Sergeant Sylvanus Emeche was nabbed for attempted murder after shooting a woman, Mrs. Oluchi Okafor and her children on July 24, at Ajao Estate.

Education › Re: LAUTECH: We Are Incapacitated Not Insensitive - Aregbesola by Badonasty(m): 8:06am On Aug 15, 2017
Akanbi22:
The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has expressed what he considered the bane of smooth academic activities at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology(LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, which is jointly owned by the Osun and Oyo State governments, saying the two states were financially incapacitated, and not an act of insensitivity.

The governor disclosed this on Sunday , while playing host to some medical students from the Osun State University, who recently returned from Ukraine, after the completion of their studies, solely sponsored by the Osun state government.

Aregbesola explained that the frustrations of the students of LAUTECH, as well as their parents in the face of the unending strike should be a thing of concern to all and sundry, adding that such action portends a great danger to the future of the students.

He argued that it is practically irrational for anybody to think that the two owner states are insensitive towards the plights of the students , stressing that the reality is that the two states were incapacitated financially.

“I am using this medium to appeal to the striking lecturers of LAUTECH to please return to work in the interest of the students whose future are being jeopardized.

“I urge them to reason along the same line of thought of the two owner states for a solution to be quickly found in solving the problem.

“It will be wrong for anybody to have the notion that the two owner state governors are being insensitive towards the situation of the school.

“It is not a matter of being insensitive, the truth is that the two owner states are financially incapacitated if they want to meet the demands of the striking lecturers, there is no way you can give what you don’t have.

“If the higher cadre of the civil service in Osun can agree to be collecting a fraction of their salaries because of the harsh economic condition government has found itself, I see no reason why the LAUTECH lectures can’t reason with government”. Aregbesola said.

Aregbesola emphasized the need for fiscal responsibility and transparency in the financial management of the ivory tower, noting that the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the University should ordinarily be of great help in the running of the school, to the extent of making it self-reliant like many of its status.

He insisted that a thorough and open audit of the LAUTECH accounts remains non-negotiable as an integral panacea to the crisis rocking the school.

“If UNIOSUN with fewer numbers of students than LAUTECH could run successfully within its internally generated revenue, I see no reason why LAUTECH with more students population can not run itself.

“We want this problem to be over so that our children can return to school and pursue their academic carrier.

“I appeal to the lecturers to return to class while a proper audit of the school will be done so as to unravel the real problem of the school and we can correct it”, Aregbesola stressed.
