I hope that frozen car isn't yours? How often do people change their car battery in Canada?

Maybe in 10 years. My friend said she has not changed her battery in 10 years

Wetin person eye no go see.
Na so I take enter one chance.

I was coming from work on Friday, when I met this Indian guy at the bus station. We got talking and some brief introduction about what we do for a living and all. He asked for my number, saying he may be able to connect me with his boss who seem to be looking for Electrical Engineers. We exchanged numbers actually. He said he would get back to me over the weekend.

I was a bit delighted, and was thinking maybe my miracle don dey load. grin . Na so I holla am for Saturday evening. He called me back and said he spoke with his boss and he said he would need to know me first before anything can be done. Therefore, I should meet with him(the Indian guy) tomorrow(Sunday) at 7pm as that is the only free time in his schedule. Lol.

To cut the long story short, na so I go meet this guy for one McDonalds on McLaughlin. To my greatest dismay, the guy begin yarn opata about building Pipeline. Pipeline? In short he was introducing a form of MLM or some Investment scheme.

I dey look the guy head like say make I cut am. This guy chose the wrong client. If na for Lagos, I know wetin I suppose do you. I just sitdown listen well as he dey quote Robert Kiyosaki et al. After the whole drama, I was even expecting him to buy me a snack or something. The guy dey ask stupid questions. He was surprised to hear I pay $550 as rent and he thought my shoes are very nice. Poor Indian guy.

I guess my miracle never load finish. sad

Sounds like You are in Missisauga / Brampton. More like Brampton. That McLaughlin rings a bell. Czaratwork cooks good afang soup. Make I post her number here?
Hahahaha. (Runs away).

Mire222 and Zibah14 please what is your full name. I will ask someone else to check the letters this afternoon. He told me a bunch of letters are ready. I know Osuji asked for same. I will try get at it today. For the 25th travel, please send me a mail now, let me quickly forward to him.

Sorry, 24hrs not enough to run the day with this - 23 degrees.

You are missing the point here, you did not ask them to contact you, people are allowed to pm each but when people as question openly here rather than giving an answer here you asked that person to contact or pm you for an answer..that is questionable and that was the case in question here.

Justwise,
I would appreciate you provide instances for the bold statement. Use the copy and paste function.

I was not going to respond but I will not let anyone spoil my reputation.

First of all, I think either yourself or Seun Osewa is very unserious. Great Ife people apply better cognitive reasoning to situations. I am shocked!!
So let me clarify, and this is what happens when people fail to apply common sense to the most basic things. Did you expect I ask people to send their Driving Letter and copy of license to a public forum, then I help them to forward to FRSC from there?

I cannot count how many people sent me their letters and copy of license and I helped in the little way I can, to ensure my ex-colleague gets the letter out in good time. Or did anyone complain I collected a fee, rather I used my own resources to appreciate the FRSC team.
I am not the kind of person that sits behind faceless handle and convulse shit. The people I have interacted with here, know me, my real name and where I work. So Mr. Justwise, you need to get your acts together. Thus, the ban is very good. And it is because of this kind of ill-thoughts actions NL is still at the stage where it is, the forum has failed to develop like the country called Nigeria.

PS, Osewa was not paying me, rather on the flip side, the users here spend their time and data to contribute to forum. People visit here to assist others, because Together Everyone Achieves More. It is a T.E.A.M. effort. This is what other countries have mastered. See how Brampton has bn taken over by Indians. Markam and North York by the Chinese. I am yet to see where Nigerians and Africans are taking over.

Please apply for Next Ban.

I woke up one day in October 2017, and saw this pop up that I was being suspended till Dec 31. I did not know what it meant until I tried to respond to a query. Reached out to Osewa and team and there was no response. And since I was not being paid for providing content on the blog, I told myself I would use those minutes for other productive matters.

Those who reached out to me, I still provided the help I could. And guess what….? I have met quite a number of people from NL in person. Met this Nigerian Guy at Acces, we exchanged numbers. It was just last week he said “I think we have communicated before, I sent you a Whatsapp Chat and you responded” I said I am not sure. He said he will look for the chat, and boooom na true o. Cool guy. Make we dey do good. If he was to assassinate me, na easy does it he would have taken me out.

Met Czar two or three times now. I even ate her Ogbono when I visited her in Mississauga. She has a creepy landlady.
For the Driving License, my guy is off that project. He doesn’t have direct hold on them again.
So what has been happening while I was away… I was going to resume to NL on Jan 1, after ban elapsed. I just told myself, this blog owner is unserious. I am not being paid for it, I am banning myself too.

Czaratwork can disturb! Choi… Since I don’t know why my handle was suspended, the next time they might ban me till 2025. So until I know their reason(s) I dey hiatus.

Thanks for sharing this here. I remember reading this story somewhere and was terrified. That was one of the reasons I started this thread. There is nothing as good as researching and planning ahead. Even better, here on nairaland, we have the luxury of contacting people (fellow country members) who's had first hand experience. At least, when you are making the move, you know what to prepare for, plan ahead, not get into trouble and have short cuts.

On this note, I will like to appreciate every single one of you, who have opened your heart to share your personal experiences. You will never know the number of people (families) you have encouraged, improved their lives, guided to make the correct decision.
May God shower his abundant blessings on you and open up doors of favour for you in Canada!

May Canada be green for us as we gain wisdom!!

The dude summarised it all. Planning ahead is key, be nimble, be flexible and be agile.

I be ogboju ode ninu igbo irunmole grin

Congrats on your drivers license. You must be car shopping by now.

Salford Salford.... You did not give me the specific info I asked via email. I have madam's contact o, don't get it twisted. That Kitchen strike is looming. you will chop your poundo yam in powder (Wa je iyen e ni isu)

@Car shopping... Me wey don buy car, collect insurance quote before DriveTest. Iyen lo n pe ni "I must pass this test at once by faith."
I reached out to the instructor on a Saturday and told him we are going for testing on Thursday. (He did the booking becos I wasn't getting any date b4 19th.) He asked, have you driven in CDN before I said No. He said you can't pass this test. I looked him in the eye and said "I am passing" and we are going for it in 5 days. (That 19th was key becos car seller don dey disturb my voicemail say make I come commot the car from them showroom, and I said give me till 19th. They had said I cannot take delivery of the car becos I don't have a G).

After Day 1, instructor now had confidence in me that your driving is very good, You just need to learn the instructions. Come see MSB Rhythm. Me I changed it to MSTH = Mirror Signal Turn your Head

You know they said once examiner match brake for you, that is the end of testing. My examiner matched brake o. I said It was still orange so I could still go. I asked "have I failed the test" She said "Sir, please continue with the drive test" So test continue o. We got to carpark, did all the maneuvers, reverse packing, straight line parking.... When I hear that word congratulation, omo.... that was a solid nice birthday gift. Everyone had said they won't give you from G1 to G (Since you have never driven in Canada before). I kept rebuking allllllllllllllll of them say I must collect this thing. It was God jare.

Kwasi took four of us there. He picked me up at 4.15am in Brampton, We drove down to Toronto to pick the other 3 candidates before heading to test location. Omo... the place far die. 3 went for G, one went for G2. I was the only obote among the G testers. Other two don dey drive for Canada on G2. I passed, Jamaican Passed, but the other Nigerian lady did not make it.

Those instructors are making stupid money. 30 dollars per session and they can have like 5 sessions in a day. On drive test date, He took four of us there, that is 200*4 = 800 Dollars. cool cash. Nontaxable becos na cash transactions. The first day they told me I was going to pay 200 dollars for test date for him to take me there and use his car, I wanted to have a heart attack. 200 ginni for what? why wasn't I told before we started this whole thing?. I just said, I must not pay this 200 twice. Okay... continue with the process. I will bring you your money tomorrow.

I got a good deal on insurance as a member of HRPA.

Where is Maternal. I don miss my padi of life.

Congratulations man.
But why is it expensive like this? Isnt it $25 for computer test and $55 for Road test??
At least, thats how much it costs in SK. Not sure of other provinces.

105 = knowledge test
120= 4 driving sessions with instructor
90 = G road test
200 = instructor taking you to test centre on the day of test and gives about an hour session through the routes and telling you the speed limit etc. Like mock sha. This 200 ranges from 100 - 200. Depending on the distance of location to test centre.

Ballerz I salut ur excellent "drivemanship" lol. Congrats bro. U have encouraged me greatly. Have been driving here for like 2 weeks but with my Nigerian drivers license. Still scared of the actual driving test But I will draw courage from you now. I sent you an email request...pls reply ur country man abeg. Gracias

Have you done the G1 test? If you have, you can no longer use your Nig license or the International license. (Because you are now in the dataBase, other licenses become null and void, says kwasi)

you are very correct as I missed that part cos one will have to write final level papers of ACCA.

@ballerz pls help us ask your friend about his ICAN to CPA. How many papers he wrote to get the CPA so that we can compare both and decide which route will be d best.

Someone called on Sunday and he explained everything. I was not listening. She can explain to you guys. But I know he mentioned Tax laws and then went on to Capstone stages. The cost was about 6k CDN. from ICAN to CPA. His firm picked up about 4,500. So direct cost to him was cushioned.

Good day Virtual Fam. I know we have discussed telephone bill, hydro and some other bills at different times. My thought- Is it possible for our seniors to list and put bill estimates per month in their diff areas, provinces? I feel it will give a clearer pic & help one way or another.
Break down

Monthly bills - Gas, Bus, Uber, Lau Lau, Mortgage, Car Finance. All dependent on you.

House Rent = 2 bedroom basement/Condo 900 - 1700. Ideally, you can get 2bedroom for 1100/1200. If you share with a correct person, it comes to 550/600. Mostly bills are inclusive. Check Kjiji to get an idea
. You can rent it and then get a partner on Kjiji

Car insurance per car = Depends on your class of License. If you hold a G it could range from 170 - 200. if you hold a G2, could be about 200 - 300. All dependent on what you have covered. THere is 3rd Party to comprehensive

Phone bills - Chatr - 25 - 50. WIND - 45 - 70, BELL, Rogers, Fido Telus - 80 - 105. All depends on what you want. Iphone 8 is out and Ipone X is on the way. Note 8 too is hot in the market. Spend this money

Wifi n land line = 70 (If wifi only, combined with landline and premium TV could be as high as 170 if going with BELL (You can use style get quote from them when you chat with an agent)

Feeding for individual/family per month = 200. Can get to- 400 (If u dey chop like wobia, grin grin grin runs away)

School fees/daycare/pre school = School is virtually free. Public and Catholic schools

After school if applicable - Dunno. Children leave school around 3pm. They do 9- 3pm. SOme schools have embedded daycare to keep them till when you close from work

Hydro - Depends on how you run it.
Water bill - Depends on how you use it
