jfking2005:
You need to change the way you reason to progress in life. That Road belong to Fed govt but he choose to make life easy for the people and not wait till fed govt is ready.
68816419:
. where are you from, u think if fashola hasn't done anything in the state he will be assigned to head three big positions?, Nigeria will never have a governor like him, what ambode is currently doing, is improving on what fashola has done.
Free yourselves from mental slavery and unforced delusion. How old are you two by the way. A Fashola that can not provide low cost housing for the teaming population of Lagos, a Fashola that built Lekki rd with tax payers money only to tow the same road, a Fashola that construct borehole for 58 million per one in Lagos state where everywhere is saturated with fresh water. The borehole is not in Ibadan where you need to blast rock to get to water.

Fashola aside please is that the only road or only federal road that is in a bad condition in Lagos state ? Must Lagosian wait for Ambode to pass by other roads before he set up the machinery to ensure each and every road in Lagos state is motorable ? Did he visit each business in Lagos before he demanded tax from them ?

In as much as Fashola is exceptional among his Nigerian colleagues he remains a colossal failure when you compare his achievement with the debt portfolio he left Lagos with, add the allocation accruing to Lagos plus the Tinubu era owed local govt fund Yardua credited Fashola or with governors of other cosmopolitan cities such as Jo'burg Capetown Cairo Rabat Tunis What exactly did he do with all the fund ?

We Yoruba should educate ourselves and stop celebrating mediocrity simply because that is what Nigeria is bedeviled with. We should desist from measuring accomplishments of our governors using the colossal failure of Nigerian standards.

Lagos should be competing with cities such as Cairo Johannesburg Capetown Rabat Casablanca Alexandria Tunis. Cities where each road federal state or local is tarred to the sitting room of every citizen, cities with sewage system which Lagos completely lacks, cities with pipe borne water to every single homes etc. I have deliberately left out European Asian and American cities simply to justify the mediocrity you both are celebrating in the person of Fashola and his achievement in Lagos.

Ethiopia stated building it's railing two years after Fashola launched his with only about 10% of the cost of Fashola's Ekorail and yes you heard me correctly the cost of the Ethpoia rail is less than 10% of Ekorail and before one paid commentator start his balderdash the two rail line are of the same gauge. The KM of Fashola's Ekorail which can not be ascertain as the Lagos APC as turned the project into a pipedrain to siphone scared resources is the only thing holding back the comparison in terms of cost and KM.

Politics › Re: How Governor Ambode Earned My Utmost Respect by Ballmer: 12:17am On May 21, 2016
Tales by moonlight. This was how they hyped Fashola with barely nothing accomplished in Lagos. Private individual build road without praise or reimbursement from the govt. I wonder why Ambode should be praised for being a failure.

Please OP does Ambode think that all highways in Lagos are motorable ? If he knows they are not why wait till he pass by each one before instructing contractors to move to site ? And that is for just major road what about the intra city roads ?

Nigerians need to understand how these oil blocks ownership works. Shell, Eni, Chevron, Exxon, BP, Total and many others don't own oil blocks as much as they used to 20-30 yrs ago, due to geopolitical uncertainties...to be able to abandon and leave if Something happens without incurring huge losses, o they now prefer to lease these oil block FROM NIGERIAN OWNERS...they explore, drill and produce on it. They pay percentage of profit plus lease to these block OWNERS.
Is that now a justified reason for the abokis to have over 80% ownership of the God given resources of the Niger Delta ?
Crime › Mother Of Two, Smuggling Indian Hemp To China, Arrested In Lagos by Ballmer(op): 8:55pm On May 19, 2016
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Thursday said it had arrested a 38-year-old mother of two at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 1.155 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden in melon and other foodstuffs.
Faith Obidike was caught by anti-narcotic officers during an outward screening of passengers on Kenya Airways flight to China, the NDLEA said in a statement.
The agency said the arrest had saved the suspect from execution in China where drug trafficking attracts capital punishment.

“It is sad that while government is worried over the number of Nigerians on death row in other nations, a mother of two children is still smuggling drugs to China where drug trafficking is punishable by death,” said Muhammad Abdallah, Chairman, NDLEA.
“Her arrest here has saved the country from embarrassment. It has equally prevented her family from the pain of losing a loved one under the circumstance. The NDLEA will not relent in saving lives and promoting the image of Nigeria.”
Mr. Abdallah, a retired Colonel, said the NDLEA needs fund to embark on aggressive anti-drug public enlightenment, adding that most Nigerians in foreign prisons for drug trafficking did not depart Nigeria with narcotics. “Most Nigerians who are in foreign prisons for drug trafficking did not take drugs from Nigeria,” he said. from Nigeria,” he said.

“Some others were lured with fake promises of job opportunities by members of drug trafficking organisations only to find themselves stranded and vulnerable to drug trafficking. Those travelling abroad in search of greener pastures must make adequate preparation for the period they will stay and also possess requisite technical skills. We are planning elaborate public sensitisation campaign to address this challenge.”

Ms. Obidike said she was contacted by her friend on social media to smuggle the drugs to China.
“I am a trader,” said the suspect who lives in Onitsha, Anambra State. “I used to travel to China to buy my goods since 2014. My WhatsApp friend asked me to buy the drug and take to China. “He promised to give me a handsome reward when I get to China. Unfortunately, the drug was detected during search at the Lagos airport. I am married with two children.” The NDLEA said it is continuing investigations and would charge the suspect to court soon.

Your hatred for Igbos is glaring. It's terribly crazy!
Are you aware that that rail line traverses South West and South South, but merely touches the borders of South East at 2 points. It means it won't make a lot of sense using that rail line to travel from Onitsha to Aba because the distance will be far more than the road distance, but you can use it to travel from Calabar to Benin or from Ore to Lagos, and it won't be father than going by road.
Yet in all these things, you chose to focus your attack on Igbos. Despite all you hatred on Igbos, we will keep moving forward. Let that sink into your head.

Your governors should lobby or beg for it. It might be a right but in a situation where you are being denied such monumental development opportunity you should beg/lobby for it. Lagos did and the Igbo's can do it too after they squandered the opportunity to have it on a platter of gold under their son Jonathan and more importantlly Igbo should quit lamenting about marginalisation when you are neither here or there.

Politics › Re: The Lagos Calabar Rail Controversy: What everyone should know by Ballmer:
Writer like this OP is why I continuously wonder if the brains of over 99% Igbo on NL is not damaged

Matthewbriggs:
There is an intense effort by some people to change the narrative regarding the controversial Lagos-Calabar rail project.

The current spin been told is that SE&SS senators are against the progress of their people, so as to spite this administration.
Can anyone see how articulate the OP is with his post yet he does not have the intelligence to figure out the only senator that as spoken out on the inclusion of the budget is Gbenga Ashafa from the SouthWest. He can not comprehend every other senator that as spoken against the inclusion either through the back or front door as been from the SE/SS.

This OP can write so well but lack the intelligence to understand a northerner senator would have shut his or her mouth not minding the project was sneaked in tru the window or back door so long it is beneficial to his regions or tribe he'd support it.

Matthewbriggs:
1. We have an incompetent Executive - The current budget fiasco paints the executive as a bunch of confused people with no strong coordination internal and externally with Nigerians. Starting from a shoddy budget that went missing, the budget padding controversy and now the failure to adequately communicate what has really transpired in this Lagos - Calabar issue. Instead, she has chosen to throw blames as opposed to really taking responsibility and proposing a way to fix this situation. Committing gaffes upon gaffes for something very sensitive as the budget that powers the livelihood of over 200million Nigerians is a grouse sign of incompetence APC would never tolerate this from PDP if they were the opposition.
While this OP is clearly right about the gaffe from the president and the minister what happened to his medula that should remind him that the reason why we have the supplementary budget is simply because the gaffe in the initial budget were outrageous and untenable which necessitated the need for the now acceptable supplementary budget yet he based his argument on a document already discarded by the senate. A document which was aslo confirmed by the presidency as a fraud.

Will the OP claim he does not understand this I doubt and this bring us back to what exactly is wrong with the reasoning of some of the Igbo's on NL and why instead of appreciating what is beneficial to them would rather antagonize these laudable incentives just to spite Buhari.

While the OP might be right about the dangers of having warring faction in the APC it should be noted the party is bound to suffer more from any effect of their disunity than Nigeria. In fact I believe this is a blessing in disguise to keep the polilooters from both the APC n PDP in check. The adage only a thief can trace the footpath of another thief does justice to this notion.

The Saraki looting crew will always be mindful of every financial transaction it undertake while it continously seek space at disgracing any gaffe from the Buhari/Tinubu crew. Nigeria can only be the winner with such a situation.

Politics › Is Biafra And Biafran Truly Afflicted With Brain Damage ? by Ballmer(op):
Why are there so many Igbo's suffereing from basic intelligence reasoning after the loss of the last presidential election by Ebele Jonathan ?

I made this assertion based on the argument by these Biafrans with absurd reasoning.

Why do Igbo's find it tasking to understand the Lagos - Calabar rail will help to alleviate poverty from their erosion ravaged land ?

Why do they not understand it will help to bolster the economy of the connecting states with less Biafrans having to escape from the harsh economic realities of Biafra to Lagos ?

Now there have been several argument back and fort concerning padding of the 2016 budget with the senate arguing what was included n what was not in the budget.

The Senate claimed the Lagos Calabar rail was not included in the budget only for senator Gbenga Ashafa who chairs the senate committee on land transportation publicly to make a categorical statement that this project was included in the supplementary budget and not the main one.

Now every discerning Nigerian with a brain understood why the budget was supplemented and should also be able to judge what budget is valid or not but not this Biafrans simply because accepting the supplementary budget as the valid document would automatically put an end to their thirst to wail. We all know wailing is synonymous with Biafran as blood is to vampires.

When the senate could no longer find a hiding place to shortchange Nigerian, the wailing Biafrans inclusive came out to declare that it does not accept budget from ministers. The same ministers it confirmed to head the various ministries who in turns render stewardship of each ministry.

This same senate led by Saraki that those not accept budget from ministers mischievously forget it predecessors accepted budget from the former finance minister without any noise.

This same senate that refuse the inclusion of the Lagos Calabar rail because it was submitted by the minister of transportation claiming budgetary proposals should only be submitted by the president refuse to inform Nigeria the president never included the senators constituency project it stealthy included into the budget.

Now, with all the above highlights some deranged Biafrans goes about jubilating that a project that could help emancipate their region as been mysteriously expunged from the supplementary budget which we all know is the valid document after the discovery of several anomaly from the initial budget submitted by the president.

In the midst of all the intrigues and the barrage of criticism against Buhari from the Biafran am forced to ask what sort of agony pervase the the south east as a result of Jonathan's reelection lose ?

Why is the brains of almost all the Igbo's on NL in turmoil as a result of this defeat and more importantly why can't this Biafran discern BTW what is beneficial to them and what is not any more ?

While arguing yesterday on this same subject one igbotic ipob disclosed that what the SE need is a seaport and not the rail and I wonder why any human could reason so shabily to the extent he can not comprehend since Buhari is not ready to build a seaport he should make do with the rail or he could easily have queried his soul on why their son Ebele Jonathan never built them a seaport in the midst of plenty yet he expect Buhari whom they detest should be the one to do that.

I sincerely seek a valid reasoning to what as gone wrong with the brains of most Biafrans after the 2015 defeat at the polls. I can understand they feel defeated but that is not a new thing in Nigeria to these Biafrans, their fore fathers have always been defeated starting from Zik the president with no power to Aguyi Ironsi that destroyed confederalism with which every single hamlet in Nigeria was experiencing growth to Ojukwu the general who wanted to be fed by his enemy while they were at war. Defeatism could indeed be brain recking, I pray the igbotic race is able to grow out of its clueless and position itself in a more encompassing climate before 2019.
