hamzeiy: The last time I checked the gregorian calendar that we all use today was a christain calendar as declared by the then pope gregory (google is your freind) yet a secular country like nigeria and other muslim dominated states in nigeria still recognise it. Not because we are blind to its roots but because its an un necessary topic to get disturbed about. Christains just hate to see muslims identify with their fate yet they want peace. I wonder where the peace would come from when you dont respect my way of life. In as much as celebrating the islamic new year has no islamic foundation thus it is not important but you can as well tell the govt to stop the two islamically recognised Eid celebrations as a secular country then probably dec. 25 would be our secular holiday isnt it? Hmmm #these days you see muguz every where You have the most difficult and cunning set of Christians you can find anywhere in Nigeria. |

babaolofin: I want the Anambrans to answer me. There was conflict between kogi & anambra community over an oil well in that area. It seems on nairaland, people that have answers to technical or intelligence questions keep quiet, most of the time, you find sensation , diverted, rude or insultive response.
On your question, the answers are in my earlier postings on this thread. New technologies have made discovery of new oil wells possible all over the world. They should have allowed the private investors to do that having wasted billion of dollars earlier. Private investors should also invest in the Benue basin.
The South West has link to Niger Delta basin as well to Dahomey basin in upper area. While billion of dollars was earlier wasted in the Chad basin, what stopped them from spending fraction of that money to prospect for oil in the South West? Imagine if late Pa Folawiyo with little education but strong will & faith in God had not taken the risk to venture into Aje Oilfield in the Dahomey Basin? Ogun State had been inviting them, I know they will not come until a private investor has finished all the major survey & analysis. those illiterates calling others "parasites" don't know the source rock is in the SW. |

IamLEGEND1: Shekau defends his group's terror attacks with Islamic teachings..... Which when you look at it isn't a total lie,but sensible Muslims know that Jihad in the modern age transcends bloodshed and carnage. Child marriage has been a cultural norm among many northern tribes long before Islam came to the region......and anyone, regardless of tribe or religion should have the common sense to know that child marriage is a vice that should have no place in our current society. +Yerima is a fanatical former lawmaker who decided to flagrantly & publicly disobey the constitution of a secular country and of the people who elected him and made him who he is..... He simply interpreted the Quran to suit his pedophilic depravity. But if I am wrong, do refer me to where it is the Quran explicitly permits acts like that. I am not a Muslim..... But suffice it to say, a major number of those close to me are. It'll be incredibly hypocritical, not to mention counterintuitive If I held any disdain for Muslims in general when I've got Muslim relatives whom I love.
I honestly don't even know what to make of your comment. Are you a Muslim? And if you are, does it mean you actually think child marriage should be allowed? now we know where you're speaking from. |

Modified: before the next set of idiots with twitchy fingers decide to quote me & call me an IPOB E-warrior.... Know that I am Fulani and the north is my home. That doesn't mean I should be in support of child marriage irrespective of the geo-political zone it occurs. I simply referred to the north because the most popular case of child marriage is attributed to a northern senator.
Now,quote me & type nonsense make i end you. hypocrisy won't allow you guys to hide your stupidity. You're now Fulani . Liar! Your southern brothers rape for years girls even if they're 70 years old. Condemn that first. |

Laid2001: Olubadan was never present at the coronation.!!
He made his stand clear on it even before it was done by the governor.
There were cases filed by Ladoja and others ahead of the so called coronation and that was why the coronation was done in a hurry, announced on Friday and done on Sunday to make sure, the court can not issue an interim injunction against it.
In any case, aggrieved parties are allowed to seek redress after an event that tramples on their right collectively and as an individual.
And there was a law on Ibadan rulership which had not been amended appropriately before the so called coronation.!!. The governor acted on a submission of his committee even before going to the state assembly to change the affected law. I support Olubadan . I don't like how politicians play with traditional institution. But if the coronation event that took place of the main bowl of the stadium was what I saw on bisi olatilo show, then I think I saw olubadan there. |

Ngokafor: @op your attempt at emotional blackmail and distortion of facts will not work...Lets assume the north is 'marginalised' and are keeping quiet...Must everyone keep quiet too and mope around helplessly because others are??...
If you lots decide to keep quiet in the face of injustice,Igbos will not...
Be that as it may, north is not marginaled in any way and has never been...They have the highest number of FG patronage in this country...the little developement there is Fg-induced in every indices while the reverse is the case for SE.
..Up untill recently, most developements in the SE are purely private efforts by individuals cos FG presence in every shape, size and form.is near zero...
.However iagree we have dead-beats as leaders in the SE we are not saying you should keep, but must the shoe-shiner or northerners in the east should not be identified and asked to be killed because you think they're your problem, before your cry can be heard. |
