While there are a lot of things to worry about in my country this particular one disgusts me crazily.

Meet this pretty lady. A lot of Nigerians will probably be familiar with her but just in case you don't know her. Her name is Anita Natacha Akide, also known as Symply_tacha or Tacha.

Tacha is a social media influencer, make-up artist and Youtuber. Most of her videos consist of her either showing off her breasts or twerking. Last year, she made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Famously for staging her own kidnap and also staging a wedding proposal all in the name of getting attention.

In 2019 Tacha got into the Big Brother Naija house (the Nigerian version of the Big brother franchise). She often acted pompous and rude towards every other housemate. She was always involved in one fight or the other in the house, calling housemates names and often bragged about how big she was on social media. She also claimed she was bigger than the show (Like seriously??).

Her constant bragging on how she was going to remain in the house till the 99th day (the show finale) cos her ‘fans’ will keep voting for her was no secret.

To be fair she was right. Although highly controversial, she had gained a large number of fans (or ‘Titans’ as they call themselves) and social media following during the show. As her fellow housemates grew tired of her, she was often nominated every week but her fans always made sure she topped the voting polls, escaping eviction as a result.

She was a hot favorite to win the show. But as fate may have it Tacha finally outdid herself and got disqualified on the 89th day, much to the dismay of her ‘Titans’.

The showrunners had finally had enough of her. She physically assaulted a fellow housemate on 3 occasions during one of her usual brawls.

Now in case you were wondering, all these don’t disgust me. What disgusts me is the attitude of her so-called titans and some Nigerian celebrities

Upon tacha’s disqualification, there was a public outcry from her ‘Titans’. After raining several insults on the show and coming up with lots of conspiracy theories.

They ultimately decided to donate the cash price(60million naira) for her by creating a Gofundme account.

The account has raised over a thousand euros so far.

A few of our so-called celebrities also came out and said they are ready to raise the money for her some even promising to give her the 50million naira.

Now all these disgust me!

Do you know people who need this money more?
In a country with one of the highest poverty rates in the world. Where several children are dying of hunger and can barely take a meal a day. A country with lots of internally displaced people due to insurgency. A country where a child in the slums barely makes it through primary education.

SARS (a unit of the Nigerian police) are harassing young boys and extorting them of their hard-earned money in broad daylight every day and we are yet to find a common voice. Several youths are put in jail just because they speak up against the government. They laugh at us and we do nothing

Yet here we are, glorifying hypocrisy. Staging online protests. Ready to donate money to some internet personality who was the source of her own downfall.

If only we could channel our energy and money into more pressing issues.

Our president once famously said. “Nigerian youths are lazy”. He was insulted and ridiculed.

I want people who read it to cry after reading. Write in a way where your readers will feel your pains and start crying half way through the book.

Write it in a way that will scare any youth who loves gambling. If there were too much masturbation involved in your journey, loneliness, pains, etc. write all of them down and don't hold back. Don't correct typos — just keep typing and let it flow effortlessly.
