During my years in the university, confraternity was an indirect part of learning. I encountered cult threats, saw cult dominance, witnessed inter-cult rivalry but in the end, they were less bloody and we were still able to live peacefully within the"brotherhoods" mist, as they were called, camouflaging their identity. A little research on history, broadened my scope on the irony behind the birth of confraternity in Nigeria. In 1952, future Nobel Prize winning author, Wole Soyinka and a group of six friends formed the Pirate Confraternity at the elite University College, Ibadan then a part of the University of London. According to the Pirates, the "Magnificent Seven", as they called themselves, observed that the university was populated with wealthy students associated with the colonial powers and a few poorer students striving in manner and dress to be accepted by the more advantaged students, while social life was dictated by tribal affiliation. Soyinka would later note that the Pirates wanted to differentiate themselves from"stodgy establishment and its pretentious products in a new educational institution different from a culture of hypocritical and affluent middle class, different from alienated colonial aristocrats". Upon my return home after graduation, I couldn't fathom the rate at which kids under the age of 20 have been ‘fraternized’, becoming fearless and ruthless, being used as instruments of destruction and disruption, to the very stage of armed-robbery. I saw young kids openly showing off around with gangs they belong, oppressing one another including peaceful, innocent people going about their business all in the name of "I belong", then I knew the inevitable would surely happen. Reminiscing on my thoughts, the inevitable is happening and lives to my greatest disbelief is of no meaning, lifeless bodies of kids are found around the street, pits, shops and in their homes either short dead, machete or totally amputated. A scenario that got me muted for days was a boy in his early 20s who was shot dead on a Saturday morning in his barber's shop, an episode that happened blocks away from my residence, he was dragged out by 2 young boys who stopped on a bike, shot dead at point blank; I could not but wonder how boys of such age enjoy taking the lives of one another with such ease and joy. The big question remains: who is be blamed - the state of the economy, the government, the security service, our parents or ourselves?

He is making the rounds on social media Once upon a time - - The court was invaded by Fayose's thugs and a judge terribly assaulted, it was normal. - Governors who had immunity like the President were stopped from entering Ekiti, there was nothing wrong. - Fayemi a sitting governor with immunity, was tear- gassed and assaulted by Mobile Policemen, it wasn't bad. - 7 members of a 26-member Ekiti House of Assembly impeached a Speaker, nothing spoil. - Fayose's supporters ably covered by the Jonathan police blocked All major roads that lead to Ado Ekiti, it was very vèry okay. - Fayemi the sitting governor declared a state of emergency in Ekiti because of the insecurity of in state and Mr Fayose lifted it before even assuming office And now when the account of a governor being investigated for diverting the commonwealth of his poor & helpless people is frozen............. They are claiming Immunity, Immunity ko Impunity ni. If you don't have and skeleton in your cupboard then go and face EFCC and they will unfreeze your account. Or better still take them to court and the same judge you beat up the last time, His colleague will judge your case now. |

A classified US document obtained by SaharaReporters has revealed that the American government in February 2009 banned Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State from getting a visa to enter the US. It is unclear whether the ban remains in force. Ayo Fayose Mr. Fayose’s wife, Feyisetan Helen Olayemi Fayose, whose date of birth was given as January 8, 1964, was also targeted for the visa ban. The document showed that the US Embassy recommended the cancellation of her existing visa, which was supposed to be valid until February 2010. Other members of the governor’s family recommended for the 2009 visa ban included his first son, Oluwajomiloju John Fayose, born on February 18, 1992. His B2 visa was recommended for cancellation even though it was supposed to be valid until July 27, 2010. Also covered by the 2009 visa prohibition recommendation were Mr. Fayose’s two others sons, Ayorogbayimika Mine Fayose, born August 1, 1995, and Chukwuemeka Boluwatife Fayose, born November 5, 1997. Both were to have their existing visas rescinded, even though the visas were supposed to be current till July 27, 2010. An interagency committee at the US Mission in Nigeria decided to target Mr. Fayose for visa ineligibility by asking President Barack Obama to invoke Presidential Proclamation 7750 (PP7750), after Mr. Fayose's impeachment in 2006. The classified document indicated that Mr. Fayose had stolen as much as $81 million from the coffers of Ekiti State during his inaugural tenure as governor, Apart from the main allegation of corrupt enrichment, in which Mr. Fayose was accused of using several companies to steal from Ekiti State, he was also portrayed as having “provided stipends to people to attend his rallies and paid journalists to write favorable stories.” In excluding Mr. Fayose from entry into the US, the US Embassy also remarked that the governor was involved in the “triggering of events,” citing him for using political violence to corrupt elections. The classified document provided a list of persons murdered by associates of Mr. Fayose. The murder victims include Tunde Omojola and Ayo Daramola, both of them murdered by well-known aides or associates of Mr. Fayose. Mr. Fayose was also suspected of involvement in the attempted assassinations of Taiwo Fasuba, then chairman of Ado-Ekiti local government area, and Afe Babalola, a prominent lawyer who hails from Ekiti State. In a text message to SaharaReporters, Mr. Fayose suggested that the visa restrictions had been lifted or that his immediate family members were never barred from entering the US after all. “My family (wife and son) was in the US last summer,” the governor stated in the text. His text further stated, “I have only been to the US only twice in my life. During my trial by EFCC between 2007 and 2014, in 2009 the court [asked] that my passport be deposited with the court. I approached the American Embassy for renewal [and they] said I can come back after the trial. I have since won my case at the Ado Ekiti Federal High Court in 2014, which discharged and acquitted me. I have not approached the US Embassy since then.” Mr. Fayose added he was not aware of any continuing visa ban targeting him even though he admitted to our reporter that when he approached the US Consulate in February 2009, he was told to go and conclude his corruption trial. He stated that he had not applied to the US Consulate for travel ever since he controversially became governor again in a highly tainted election in 2014. SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Fayose went into hiding for several months after he was impeached as governor of Ekiti State. He then approached the US Consulate on February 13, 2009, seeking a visa to visit the US for an “urgent medical issue,” but his application was denied Source: http://saharareporters.com/2016/04/09/governor-fayose-was-banned-entering-us-over-corruption-political-violence |

For years, people were wondering when can they stop wearing condoms while having s*x with their partners, well it looks like the time is right around the corner. It seems the long awaited cure for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) - a lentivirus that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, AIDS, has been invented by scientists. Below is how popular U.S gossip website, MediaTakeOut reported the story; For years, people were wondering WHEN CAN THEY REMOVE THEIR CONDOMS . . . well it looks like it's right around the corner. Scientists have for the FIRST TIME EVER - proved that they can CURE HIV. Yesterday scientists CONFIRMED that they were able to edit out HIV-1 DNA from the genome of human immune cells, preventing virus replication and reinfection of the cleared cells. In layman's language, they used GENE THERAPY to cure HIV in HUMAN cells. Dr. Kamel Khalili, director of the Comprehensive NeuroAIDS Center at Temple University claims that they are ready to put his new gene therapy into a new drug that will cure HIV in patients even after they stop taking the drugs. "The findings are important on multiple levels. They demonstrate the effectiveness of our gene editing system in eliminating HIV from the DNA of CD4 T-cells and, by introducing mutations into the viral genome, permanently inactivating its replication. Further, they show that the system can protect cells from reinfection and that the technology is safe for the cells, with no toxic effects," Khalili said in a press releases http://mediatakeout.com/299179/off-with-the-condoms-they-did-it-scientists-finally-found-a-cure-for-hiv-its-still-early-but-it-looks-like-they-did-it.html |

its quite a suprise late-night when I was watching hip tv, as usual they display a short information on the artist who sang the ongoing song, but to my greatest suprise I saw this, " skiibii graduated from the university of ado ekiti where he studied mass communication" , I actually finished from this school in the same faculty of art and there is no mass communication, the closest you could get is english or the just accredited theatre art, someone should please get me intouch with skiibii, is there another university of ado ekiti (now ekiti state university) or can he tell me where he got the certificate, because nobody actually care if he had a degree or not before trying to show off, he could have just use a department that is actually in existence in the school, so him lie go just dey hidden |
