Whatever! Most-of-you in the sense many Nigerians. Whether you are among them or not is not important to me because I didn't even put you in that position in the first place.

In my post, I said, the author of the article didn't emphasized on the nature the immigrants were deported which is found on this SOURCE below.

http://www.nytimes.com/1985/05/05/world/expelled-foreigners-pouring-out-of-nigeria-by-the-associated-press.html

It clearly explains the cruelty of the then dictator who only was acting on his predecessor's action(a civilian) he deposed on a coup d'etat. It is surprising how you think deportation would have solved the problem of Boko Haram. The fact that the insurgents are mainly Nigerians speaks volumes of your understanding of terrorism. Fighting it is more complicated than merely deporting ILLEGAL immigrants from the country.
It is well known that coups d'etat were the norm in those days. Also, the deposed Shehu Shagari's administration was the worst ever seen, a title wrestled away from it by the current (GEJ) administration. To have thought things would continue like that for years, having just won another tenure, and in an era where soldiers were still very interested in governance, must have saddened a lot! In essence, I justify that particular coup d'etat.
Don't quote me out of context. Again, with strict immigration laws, and its implementation, the issue of Boko Haram wouldn't have been the way it is. It is known that the group had a lot of members who were foreigners (mostly Chadians and Nigeriens)
.
You may choose to continue to rigmarole, but I think I've made my points clear enough.
Also, please deal with it, the "Dictator" has come to be our president! Afterall, the "shoeless" one was once so!

It's not demeaning to his personality as a dictator then. Yet most of you would cry foul when Europeans and South Africans repatriate black Africans. Whether they are ILLEGAL immigrants or not he deported immigrants in their thousands during his rootless regime and the author of the article didn't even emphasized on the nature those immigrants were deported because it's irrelevant at that point in time.
First, count me out of the "most of you" group. If you don't have a business doing/being an illegal immigrant in a country, you deserve repatriation as the government of the nation deemed fit!
You also mentioned that it wasn't emphasized, but was one of the first description of him in the article. It does tell you something.
Again, Buhari only reminded ILLEGAL immigrants that they are not wanted here, and that is it. If subsequent governments had followed suit, I'm sure the issue of Boko Haram, with Chadian and Nigerien infiltrating our borders, won't be as grevious as it is, if at all it happened.

This your post is very laughable! Aren't you saying the same thing as the NY Times that Buhari regime expelled immigrants? You are a funny Buhari(former dictator) defender indeed! Jeez!
Immigration: Immigration is the movement of people into a country to which they are not native in order to settle there, especially as permanent residents or future citizens.
Illegal immigration: is the migration of people across
national borders in a way that is contrary to the immigration laws of the destination country. In general, an
undocumented immigrant (also called an illegal
immigrant or unauthorized immigrant or other terms) is
a person who enters and remains in a country without a
valid visa or permit from that country, or who has
overstayed the duration of a visa that has been granted, or
whose visa has been cancelled.

Chimamanda Adichie said, the easiest way to disposes a people (story) is to start with secondly. You obviously know that the use of immigrants as against illegal immigrants was damning to the personality of GMB.
Politics / Re: Subsidy 101: Q &A On Subsidy. by bandely(m): 1:30pm On May 27, 2015
kinibigdeal:

Your comment are too loopsided. The fact that you said you were against it in 2012 due to your unfounded fact speaks alot about your personality and you supporting it now enapse my conclusion. The protest against subsidy in 2012 was highly political and not for the interest of the nation, the calculation was to render this present administration ungovernable in lieu of their interest in 2015 which really work for them perfectly. Majority of the policy GEJ administration had then was strongly opposed through press and whatever platform because of their political calculation of 2015. The effect was, the more you oppose a beneficial policy, the more the aesthetic decay compiled and remain unsolved. Now the consequence of their unfounded critics is what they want to carry now which is almost impossible to solve in 8years. The problem we have as a nation is that our critics are never issue based but political gain
Your own thinking seems loopsided itself. You thought I fell for the media propaganda, which is not correct. In 2011,(a time when the media "favoured" Jonathan) I voted Buhari, having foresaw that Jonathan will not be who he portrayed himself to be. It was too evident as I checked about him from his days as Deputy Governor and Governor of Bayelsa State, down to when the election was approaching then. I was not really surprised when he began to show Nigeria the real stuff he was made of.
Let me ask you again, if they had removed the subsidy, what do you think will happen to the money saved from it? Use the case of the SURE-P fund and the unremitted funds from NNPC, as a guide.
Edit:
Gov Babangida Aliyu just said there was nothing like SURE-P, so when the government "partly removed the subsidy", the money it said is set aside was all facade! Please justify this and use it to answer my question again, of what would still happen to total removal of subsidy.

Politics / Re: Subsidy 101: Q &A On Subsidy. by bandely(m): 11:06am On May 27, 2015
I see some folks hammering it that they told the rest of
Nigeria that "subsidy" should have been totally removed in
2012.
Well, I (and I know a lot of people too) supported the "non-
removal of subsidy" then on the grounds that:
1. Technically, they may not have been anything called
subsidy, as GMB reiterates in his recent interview with Daily
Trust. Rather, what we might have had were loopholes for
people who were hell-bent of running the country aground.
Suffice to say the "subsidy" may have been a facade
2. The second and most important one is that, even if there
is subsidy, the government of the day (2012) cannot be
trusted with the money realized from total removal of
subsidy, due to the perceived gargantuan corruption and
misappropriation that went unabated in the administration.
The logic was, we know they are going to steal it, then let's
have it in whatever manner instead.
I make bold to say it was the best decision to take as at then, and I'd gladly support it again (given the same
circumstance), afterall, in the end, the GEJ administration
did not act contrary to our belief that the money would
"disappeared" via corrupt means as witnessed with SURE-P
fund, the CBN-NNPC $20Billion among others.
However, an opportunity presents itself for GMB to totally
remove the subsidy, if at all the scheme exists! Nigerians
won't complain much this time, afterall, they've bought it
already this week for around 500naira per litre.

NY Times, get your facts right! Shehu Shagari was the one who ordered immigrants (mostly Ghanaians) out of Nigeria in January 1983, Buhari took over in December 1983, and only ordered ILLEGAL immigrants out.

The lackadaisical attitude of many Nigerians as related to
social issues is quite appalling to say the least. I remember
when we were faced with issues in UI, with protest a means
of addressing such issues, some folks would tell you that
they can't be bothered. In their parlance, they will utter
words such as "Is it not just a small amount of increment, I
can afford it", "Please I didn't come to school to protest".
The same is the case for an average Nigerian who feels that
once he has the cash to buy it, then everything is alright. For
daring to go ahead and call for a change, especially through
protests, he would refer to you as jobless! This i-dont-give-a-
damn disposition of ours has made things reached its lowest ebb.
A Nigerian man sees no reason to protest or viciously hold
those at the helms of affairs responsible for epileptic power,
afterall he has 'I better pass my neighbour" and he can
afford to fill its tank.
Today, the situation is dire, there is neither the electricity
nor the fuel to power the generator. It is dark over here, but
not lovely! I must say that the maxim of "not my business"
must never be extended to social issues because, just as one of my favourite artiste, Asa "one day the river will overflow, and there will be nowhere else for us to go. And we will run, wishing we had put out the fire" Indeed there is fire on mountain, I can only pray that President Muhammadu Buhari has enough resources to put out the fire.

MODs, please edit the title of the thread. There was no citation as to where NUC released such fact, therefore we cannot take the opinion of the author of the article as a fact.
It is wrong and unethical to attribute this news to NUC when we cannot find a supporting document/site. Suffice to say that this may pass as falsification or distortion of facts.
NB: I have no issues with whichever state tops, but to attribute this to NUC when we can't find evidence is wrong. Can I also copy an article from FakeNaijaNews.com that says a Nigerian is the first person to land on the moon, and then attribute it to NASA?

Our telecommunication companies are busy chasing Nigerian celebrities with cash and other perks, while their tariffs still remain on the high. It is utter waste to me. Why not restructure your tariffs to be more beneficial to the people and see how we will begin to port to your network. Another issue is the CSR, well, that is a matter for another time.
