The rich and powerful that now include our pastors are using the police and the courts to luck up the poor that cannot afford bail, young women that have been sexually taken advantage of and adversaries without connection. This is how they intimidated the press and the people. If it was the military government that was doing this with such impunity, people would have cried out. They will soon get to you by keeping quiet. |

With all respect, you did not get my point or you do not want to. The old reasons some manufacturers give for doing business in Nigeria out of pity, because they want to create jobs or they will close their plant unless they get forex are no longer as valid as they used to. I agree with you, again, that manufacturers face obstacles. But there are far worse obstacles in the jungle they invested in all over Africa. No country provide electricity and roads that lead to nowhere in these jungles. Dangote had to go into joint venture with the Chinese in East Africa, even after claiming he was afraid of snakes. They have to provide their own plant for electricity, roads in and out and more important little or no forex. Let us be clear, forex is a Nigerian phenomenon demanded to blackmail the Government. Dangote and Otedola are richer than some of these countries and they take their own cash (made from Nigeria) there to invest. No forex facilities. These are long term investments which they may get back by buying their arable land and use of cheap workers. They may even export some to Nigeria to get higher prices. Again, no forex facilities in their jungles. When they asked the Chinese how they were going to get their investments and loans back, they were after arable lands and resorts for travelers to feed Chinese population in future and attract tourist. Please stop giving old excuses that are no longer valid. If Innoson wants to increase their market share, they must sell cheaper. In the days we used to drive volks as our first car, many people bought and Volkswagen made profit. It is true that Nigerians prefer foreign made for taste as the writer indicated but these are the few millions that can afford it. They go to supermarket to buy tomato for ten times the price they can buy tomato in local market. But they will never be caught alive in Oyingbo market. The poor people still go to Oyinbo market anyway. Nigerians have their faults but do not blame a poor man that cannot afford uncle Ben's rice for paying the same price for ofada rice.Poor people have died lining up for free rice during election (stomach infrastructure) and some spent the whole day waiting for government rice. Not because they love to but because they have limited cash. The cash is in the hands of a limited millions and they flood the market with it raising prices for the common man. Unless that money circulates or it is mopped up, prices will continue to rise and many of the manufacturers will continue to target the highest price. |
Chief, I would like to agree with you if you had used "some" instead" of "nobody". The main reasons people go into their own business are 1) to be their own boss 2) make money, same as decent profit 3) some for creating jobs. But do not fool yourself, job creation comes from demand. You cannot create jobs unless there is a demand. Business is not charity. As for all the obstacles listed, nobody will deny that. But please note that Nigerians create manufacturing jobs in other African countries with worse obstacles, still sell for less and make profit. Unless you think jungle in the middle of nowhere in East Africa without roads, electricity, bribing misters etc. are better than Nigeria. This is what Dangote and others do in other African countries and still make profit while selling for less. There is too much money circulating in Nigeria in the hands of a few millions that can afford those prices. So many refused to sell for less. Why take the trouble of opening many locations with more employees when you can make more money with less? Business is not a charity, we do not go into it from the goodness of our heart. Its almost like a call, determination and ambition. We must always give respect to many that keep trying and have failed. Those ones do it not for charity but for dedication to their dream. nwanna89: |
Economics of scale has to do with advantages of mass production. Nigeria with it population advantage, bizmen could lower their prices to attract more patrons or buyers. Read the article again. It does not justify the brutal attack on the Akure cement dealer that was satisfied with decent profit and sold cement cheaper. Gmajor: |
From Pretty White Fiancée To Gorgeous Black Albino Wife It was a great relief to see an African country like Kenya staging Mr. and Ms. Albino. Anyone that prefers that milk color in his lady, or the closest thing to white, now do have a healthy choice. They may have actually stumbled on many, admiring them without realizing they are Albino and if they do, by the time the character of the Albino comes into play, they would be thanking their stars for such elegant partners. Preference for light skin is a big factor that leads some African women to bleach their skins. There is no beef against women that completely change the color of their skin but they can be very difficult to recognize if you are used to them in dark skin. As a lady called out one day, it took a third look after she announced her name to recognize her. It was really embarrassing to hide the fact that she could not be recognized at the first take. One has to be careful not to be judgmental. So please just move the conversation along as if nothing changed. We Heard stories of light skin African kids fathered by European sailors on the shores to time of slavery in the New World. Even when Africans cannot trace their light skins to white ancestors, they have managed to claim Jewish or Arabian heritage. The same is true of African cousins in the Diaspora. Their mother father mother were either Irish, French or Scottish origin. So it’s not surprising that a professor fabricated a history of great Zimbabwe built by Jewish descendants! More amazing is how easy it is for many of those informed or educated Africans to accept the roles of recessive genes, genetic mutation and slavery relationships with whites but find it difficult to accept the same mutation as it applies to Albinos. Even more doubtful is if some blacks realize there are white Albinos just as there are black Albinos, until they marry one. Let us face it, the closer black people look as white, the more attractive some of us find them. It is then astonishing that black Albinos are not found to be so gorgeous by the same folks. Lately, in these days of hair in different colors, hues and perms, some beautiful Albino ladies are going for the kill. You may not have noticed if the only beauty you are obsessed with is pale skin color in rainbows. Just as dark southern Europeans have been mistaken for mixed blacks or mulattos. It must be noted that even ladies that are light in complexion also bleach to look even fairer in complexion. There is no way they were going to be outshined by those dark ladies. Surprisingly, some white women also bleach their skin. It is very difficult to verify the complaints of men that date these ladies. But some movie stars have complained about the cream or soap used for the process. Some men claimed they could not sleep in the same bed with white or black bleachers! In that case, it would be prudent to date and marry an Albino. They come naturally and remain honest to themselves. If they have to change the color of their hair, perm or cornrow their hair, no problem. Many ladies already do that. It is not such a big deal anymore and most men have gotten used to different hair styles which are easier to take maintain than bleached skin. Albinos have come a long way from being anxious about their skin to a point where some of them are now proud and confident knowing that if they raise their level of buoyancy, there are people out there desiring them as partners. It is certainly a long way from the days they hid and in some areas still do, from despicable act of medicine men and ritualistic behavior. Many countries have stepped up and increased penalty for any inhuman behavior against them. Black women have been documented for giving birth to varieties of rainbow children including blue eyes white babies. It is even more so among Hispanic women as their relationships with Africans that are centuries long, may produce a white or black child after generations of recessive genes reappear. After all albinism is a form of genetic change of skin color in all races, not different from those whites acquired after leaving Africa for the new world. We are all Africans at some point, they say! Gail is a white lady that informed each of her boyfriends the possibility of having a black child if they got serious and get married. She did not have to inform any black boyfriend for reason that was obvious. She lost some white friends that way and also gained some. On the other hand, there is no reason for a black lady to explain the same to a black boyfriend unless she is having an affair with a white man. As more Africans men grudgingly accept or understand the recessive genes, some women may have used it as an excuse after an affair with white men to pass on white children just as some white women might. There have been a few pictures of these children making news in Europe: of African women giving birth to white babies. Their husbands posed with them making history for scientists. The odds of a recessive gene playing such a role is usually slim but possible. Nevertheless, most Africans cherish and know the difference between natural white and black beauties. We have some solemn characteristics of black beauty. People of all races, colors and rainbow can easily discern such beauty when they see it because it is striking. If all some people are after is the complexion of the skin, they have done some injustice to their taste. Since we have people that are not so pretty outside but may be sound in character, they missed the boat If you are black and you marry a lady for her skin color thinking every light skin is beautiful, you are definitely in for surprises. Your poor children may reflect the not so pretty features. It is even worse if the reason for your taste is bleached skin. Just pray you love your kids whichever way they come out. Children are known to be innocently frank, questioning the complexion of their parents compared to their own. In the case of Albino, a gorgeous one will produce beautiful children in any color. Even Albinos that are not so pretty are naturally gifted with good characters. It could be that they are trying to make up for their genetic mutation to protect their children and families. The bad ones are just as rough as any other human. We had one popular Albino boy in primary school and he was one of the worst trouble makers with the “baddest” and best jokes around! Take a good look at Albinos, they are good partners in the family. Hypocrisy Of Free Floating Currencies In Liberalized Markets Watch the steps China is taking right now to curb the free flow of capital and cash out of the country in order to firm up its currency . They have limited the amount foreign and local investors can take out. Extra justifications and bureaucracy are required for foreign medical treatment, loans or student fees and profit repatriation. Foreign economists and their African cronies whose countries drained Africa dry have heavily criticized each of these steps in Africa! We have to admire China on their currency control or manipulation to favor their market and industry. Their trading partners claimed they intentionally devalued their currency so that their exports can cheaply compete outside. Right now China has seized the control of its currency so that it can appreciate against the United States dollar. Indeed, trading partners are so confused; some are still talking about weak renminbi, not realizing China has moved to defending it. African countries in general, Nigeria and Ghana in particular were opined on devalued currency when they have no finished products to export into foreign markets except raw materials that are already sold cheaply in exchanged for expensive finished goods. In most cases the same raw material in gold, diamond, oil or even fish are wrapped up in glittering packages or cans, polished and exported back to Africa. In the case of China, they export their finished products. During our lifetime, China had famine and conquered it. In order to control their population, they instituted controversial method of birth control of one family and one child. They have been able to relax that policy because they can now feed themselves. It shows that before a country can take control of its destiny, they have to be able to feed themselves first. If you could not feed yourselves, you are subjected to blackmail and control by your feeders. We have seen currencies of other countries depreciate and appreciate but not in Africa where our currencies have only gone one way: down. Western countries that continue to preach the advantages of depreciation to African countries so that they can buy our resources and raw materials cheap, cry murder when China depreciated its currency. Instead of Africans trying to find out the reasons for their double standard, we joined them working to our disadvantages. There are local and foreign trained economists that have been crying themselves hoarse trying to convey the same message President Trump got elected on in United States, simply put: Buy Africa! If nationalism is good for the most capitalistic country in the world, it cannot be that bad for African countries. Of course, markets are rigged as regulators imposed over $204B fines . African economists with colo-mentality insist on free-floating currency and liberalized market as the only way to move our economy forward because it attracts foreign investments. We do not argue against foreign investment. We actually want foreign investment, what we guide against are predatory investors that have no interest in long term infrastructure but temporarily park foreign pension funds and edge funds in stock market that has never added value to economy. Oh yes they have criticized China too but how effective are they in shaping China’s policy? You should watch how Nigerians almost turn to fist fight on the streets about devaluation and how industries that use water and sugar to make beverages blackmailed Government on why they could not continue production and must lay off workers because they could not import their “materials” and machineries (that can be made locally) from abroad! We are talking about manufacturers that have been in these countries for almost a century but still importing “ingredients” and workers into Africa when most of what are needed are right in front of their noses locally. Even local bread makers grumbled about cassava in bread. After wheat bread content has been reduced, prices still went up so that they can import even more wheat to satisfy the taste of the consumer that do not like their local cassava in bread! The way your feeders control you is to change your taste from local food that you grow to their food that you have to import or that they command you to grow. African addiction to foreign food is not by accident; it is by plan and design. When they train our taste buds, they can leave us and we will train our children’s taste buds. The initially trainers of our taste buds do not have to be there. We perpetuate and transfer foreign taste and preferences to the next generation. Unfortunately, one generation refused to learn from the mistakes of the previous generation. Many of us remember “Structural Adjustment” and how it impoverished our middleclass professionals including our teachers and professors that never had the opportunity to build their own houses or buy another foreign made car since we never had local car production. Even if we had local production in anything, it has never been cheaper than foreign made. IMF and World Bank admitted at the International Conference in Ghana that implementation of it was wrong. Yet they come back with the same principle of devaluation of our currencies to get us into Promised Land of economic sufficiency. When these economists, supported by local cronies keep on selling us dummy principles and we keep on buying their brands, we cannot keep on blaming them. The fault is ours. The awareness today for frivolous consumption is higher than it used to be but we still need to turn it into action in terms of local production. The idea that we can sell enough raw materials to buy back finished products of the same raw material is incomprehensible if not stupid on its face. Yet this is what Africans have been encouraged to do and known to do for centuries. When we talk about toothpicks and pencils importation, it looks like trying to trivialize issues to justify out prejudice against foreign goods that are locally available. But it point to a deep-rooted bias against home production. We must learn how to appreciate Ijebu- and Okrika-made goods. Sometimes we want to believe that one has to be on drugs to be so induced. If you think opium was foreign gadgets like mirrors to our grandfathers, Bread and Wine of Jesus or the favorite food of Muhammad is Sunnah: these are spells on which Africans are mesmerized, you may be right. No wonder Okonkwo (of Things Fall Apart) took his horn to Church to receive wine! To Make Africa Great Again Buy Made In Africa https://www.modernghana.com/news/747469/to-make-africa-great-again-buy-made-in-africa.html# If nationalism and economic independence across Europe and America do not wake Africa up, what will? Africans were recruited during World Wars to fight in Europe for Freedom. Suddenly, it hit home – what about African freedom! We should be asking that same question that led to Africa’s political freedom. Unfortunately repossessed with economic and mental bondage made easier by the greed, selfishness and colo-mentality of our administrators and their cronies. Trump, by fiat threat to local or foreign businesses, has exposed the hypocrisy of laissez-faire just to retain jobs at home. In view of what is going on in the world today in “civilized” societies where “free trade”, globalization and capitalism propel them into advantageous nations; they now cry nationalism in the name of “Brexit” and “Make America Great Again”. Since Emerging Countries’ cheaper goods and immigrants are displacing them at home. Africa is the real victim. They want the good old days back when they repackage and made everything out of free labor of the slaves, serfs and raw materials dictated to countries of their choice. Other countries have come of age; they manufacture cheaper or better goods dumping them in their countries. Japan has perfected the art of automobile and China has perfected mass production to sell in western markets. If it’s not fair trade now, how could it be free trade when they were at advantage? It is undisputed that Africa is the richest Continent in natural resources in the world and still remains so. The fact is that the richest human that ever lived, the Queen of Sheba, is now ancient history. She depressed the price of gold around the world like many African Empires’ kings in Ghana, Mali and Songhai. Their aggrandizement in gold, diamond, art and science from Sudan to Egypt invited the fall of the last African Empire in hands of Moroccans marauders. The biggest and significant difference between these ancient times and today is disappointingly ingrained mental addiction to foreign tastes. Basically, it is the ability of Europeans, Arabs and others to convince Africans that if raw materials from their land is shipped out, manipulated, shined, painted or molded the way Africa used to shaped iron ore, terracotta or mummified royals; Africans would appreciate the same products more since they are imported as “refined”. Africa has not woken up from colo-mentality while Asian countries are big producers of local products their people appreciate but are also exporters to outside countries. Scramble for Africa, still in the slumber stage, is now between western and Asian countries. European and American’s fiercest competitor in Africa today is China. Poor African countries, they have no choice. When China comes with more favorable price, terms and condition, Africa grabs them. No country buys from any other country a whole industry of manufactured products without establishing a local factory for maintenance, parts production and eventual ability to produce and service same for 50 years except African countries! Nestlé, beer breweries and other cocoa companies are still draining Africa’s foreign reserves. We are not even talking about spacecraft, aero planes or automobile. Ajaokuta Steel is still not productive in almost half a century. They have been draining African reserves because they have to import “special” ingredients and machineries from Europe and America to make their products acceptable to Africans. We have to be fair now, even African businesses refused to improvise at home and adapt machineries locally to produce so that they could park their profits outside Africa. After fifty years, Africans still prefer ready-made products from abroad where nationalism calls for their local goods. It is one thing to sing and dance “Buy Africa” even before Fela Kuti, it takes much more to put it into practice as habit of human behavior. There is nothing new about this, yet colo-mentality drains our energy and productive effort to see African Great Again as in the days of our great Empires. It is no wonder that after our ancient and new achievement have been denied, hidden and usurped by lesser civilization, same people claim we cannot be descendants of the Greats. They came as explorers, then traded by barter. In order to save our souls and save us from the devil, they came as missionaries. Each of these has become addicted drugs of opium that is too difficult to disengage. There is no other true God but that of Christian, Muslim or other foreign God. But God said he is everywhere and he created man in his image. If there is only one God that is worshipped worldwide, he can hear our prayers everywhere in every language or name. Moreover, Heaven only help those who help themselves. So why do Africans believe that by being the most religious is the only way God can hear our prayers. Our Pastors and Imams would do and say anything to get attention and recruit followers. They have brought back the “dead”, walked on ice, predicted calamities but have never been able to lift Africa out of its miseries. Indeed, they have directed killing and maiming of fellow Africans in the name of God. Yet, one of the very few places in the whole world where religious tolerance is highest is in West Africa among the Yoruba and generally with some Africans since they do not force their belief on others. On the other hand, if you want to see a vicious African, watch what he does to his fellow African as he worships others for his salvation. Africans are not in the image of God? Though important, no matter what we write, sing or pray; we need solution as of yesterday. As difficult as it may seem after all these years, the solution is within us. It is enslavement of our mental capacity reinforced from one generation of parents to children. When we have solutions within reach, within grasp and within ourselves, we should not be struggling for a century after regulated and enforced slave trade. We still have some slavery in one form or the other. It is not ironic that of the people that voted for “nationalism” in the latest election in USA, were 81% of regular Church goers and Christian Evangelists that wanted the good old days back. But it was not the good old days for minorities and women who were deemed three quarters or less than humans. They were willing to sacrifice personal interest in healthcare, social security, unions and wage that elevated them to middleclass, for promises they knew cannot be fulfilled. This is a deep and complex psychological acculturation that has defied reality. Africa, if others will not patronize you, why not love and patronize yourselves? Bona Fide Virgin After Mastubation The doctor called to tell mother that her little daughter was no more a virgin. The father came under suspicion but luckily he worked in a coalfield away from home: back on some weekends. Since most members of the family were home on weekends, it became doubtful if the father was the predator. The young girl later told her mum she started dipping a finger in and later increased it to all fingers, dipped in at once. Fingering is a type of sex, even if done to others! Though the mother trusted her husband, especially when it comes to his children, the doctor was doubtful and wondered if any of the daughter’s brothers penetrated her. The social workers got involved as a mandated reportable offense for investigation. It could destroyed any family but for the trust and bond that existed within this particular family. Some women have been unfairly accused of protecting their men at the expense of the children. There are enough problems within families these days around infidelity. If you have a husband that is a philanderer, it increases the suspicion on him. Indeed, parents have gone after one another and used all types of smears to damage the reputation of their partners. A woman went as far as reporting the affair of her husband with a subordinate in the Navy. It not only destroyed the husband’s career and pension, but also forfeited the children’s scholarships. Fortunately, children are now trained to speak out early to avoid and stop sexual abuse within the families and friends of the family. Usually this form of abuse has been kept secret in many communities for fear of destroying reputation. The therapy needed to overcome past, historical and secret abuses of children take its toll later in life. In the case of this girl, we cannot say she abused herself but she certainly got the family into trouble. Lately sexual abuses have been taken seriously as more women, even in later part of their lives come out with unbelievable stories. We have been warned that we should not let a few that abuse the process color our judgment, otherwise abuse of children by even the most revere clergies, powerful politicians and respected stars would not have come to light. It is also true that some are treated differently from others. A few abusers are even empowered! Does any form of masturbation qualify as sex? It also depends on whether it is administered to oneself or to another person. If masturbation does not disqualify a young lady as a virgin, MouthAction, another form of masturbation should not. When a famous person claimed he “never had sex” with that woman, he meant there was no sexual contact between the two private parts. Since it was deemed a sexual act anyway, it means a virgin even if intact, could not be a virgin! Actually many girls satisfy themselves with pre-intimacy to avoid getting pregnant and many more satisfy their boyfriends that way saving the real thing for the big day, whenever that is! It could vary from the day they get married to the day the lady is sure that the man is hers. It is called saving each other for the “D” day, nothing to do with war. Abstinence cannot be practiced with MouthAction because MouthAction can spread sexually transmitted diseases as syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV (HIV causes AIDS), HPV, genital herpes and chlamydia. Condoms have been shown to reduce the risk of some sexually transmitted diseases during vaginal sex. Many believe they are protected for MouthAction as well, but effectiveness is doubtful. Many couples engage in more satisfying oral contacts without touching the genitals. They may engage in kissing different parts of the head and chest until they climax without breaking the golden rule of exchanging genital fluids. After this act, it is debatable if each partner remains a virgin. As long as there was no penile penetration, if the relationship broke, they could start a new relationship and claim to be virgins. Mutual masturbation between two partners without penile penetration can also save virginity. Self-masturbation can be kept secret to oneself but since mutual masturbation involved more than one person, it is debatable if one can claim to be a virgin if a disaffected jilted lover claims the friend is no more a virgin. They both have inside information on one another. As long as there is no penile penetration, a new friend may accept her as a virgin. How absorbed! Virginity is no more a prerequisite for marriage these days like it used to be. However, a lady that can prove that she is a virgin may command more gold, diamond and respect from the husband than one that gave MouthAction. It can be proved medically that she is intact and still remain a virgin, saving it for the future husband. It becomes an emotional bond of trust transferred to another partner or bond that may not be as strong with a new partner. Here the bond is not the issue. People are capable of developing a stronger bond with someone they have never had sex with than with one they have had sex. It brings into question if sex increases emotional bond to a partner as we usually claim or if sex is just a physical exercise that may or may not enhance emotional feelings. Funny, men may love the sex so much that they fall in love with a prostitute with otherwise good character, asking her for marriage. There are some young men that would not get married until they see the first early signs of pregnancy. Indeed, some women may not find it easy to get pregnant and the guy may have to wait for a long time if he is really in love. The irony of that is the fault may also be with the guy. But it is the ladies that always get the blame. There were stories of young women willing to sell their virginity to the highest bidder. These women had to be certified medically that they were actually virgins. But some medical surgeons also specialize in reconstructive surgery as virginal designers. These young ladies could make enough money from men obsessed with virgins, after getting multiple reconstructive surgeries. There are also spiritual, a trust and a religious experiences of sex. The spiritual is not necessarily the religious experience. The spiritual is the ecstasy you feel in seventh heaven and religious is the guilt without permission or blessing thereof. Trust is between partners. https://www.modernghana.com/news/742744/bona-fide-virgin-after-mastubation.html# |

PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP DESERVES HIS DUES Surprise, surprise President-Elect Trump appointed former Breitbart News Network executive chairman Stephen Bannon that denied being a white nationalist but a nationalist as strategic counselor. Senator Jeff Session as AG, an anti-immigrant that couldn’t be confirmed as Federal judge for his racist views and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn with his anti-Muslim rhetoric as National Security Adviser. Seriously, were you expecting angels from Mars after that campaign? Trump’s strategist, Stephen Bannon delivered his share of votes. Anyone that expects him and his followers, now haling him, to go into old woodwork without being adequately compensated must be in a dreamland. During the campaign, Donald Trump was told to castigate some of his followers with extremist views. He echoed them and told them they were so admonished. The crowd burst out laughing. More serious and sober on 60 Minutes, he rebuked them. Older Americans usually vote Republicans at the risk of their Social Security; dislike immigrants that take care of their health needs and pay tax into dwindling contributions to support social security checks. Let Republicans cut their benefit, as reminder of what depression time felt like. Union and Government workers in Wisconsin, Indiana etc. voted in cronies of jobs outsourcing, maximum profit exacerbating income inequality and middleclass access that Democrats protect. Most of the white folks that voted for Obama for President in 2008 and 2012 did not suddenly become liberated, cultured or tolerant. Like most Americans, they witness years of progressive race relations and social enculturation while the younger ones were born into it. We should not disparage people of goodwill from all races, ethnic groups and tribes that have labored and died protesting against inequality, misogyny and injustice across the land as extremist’s voters. It is an assault on their sense of fairness to equate closet racists and those extremists that have been out of American major parties but came out of woodwork in this 2016 Election to tip the balance in favor of the Republican Party. They were attracted by President-Elect Trump that had taken over Republican Party against all odds and predictions. Does anyone really think the crowd that were shouting “Lock her up” and “Build the wall” ever voted for Obama? Eighty-one percent of evangelists and regular churchgoers that voted for Mr. Trump were regular conservatives afraid of most liberal change. They have never changed the color of their skins since God created man. Some are the religious fanatics that interpret the Bible and the Koran the way it was written which they have in common with those that interpret old written or unwritten constitutions in their countries. Change, never! They are the ones that have been telling us since slavery around the world to accept injustice from the oppressors because our reward is in heaven. Indeed, the black evangelists are not that different from their white brothers and sisters. Both were the last to accept gays, interracial marriages and women’s roles in the church or mosque. They are ready to go to war over their doctrines and highly intolerant of other beliefs or sects, even within their same religion. One would think it is the Hispanics that would come out in higher percentage voting for Hilary against Trump. But they claimed the Cubans in Florida are more conservative. When the whole legitimacy of Hispanic group is being questioned, it does not make a difference which one is from Cuba or Guatemala. They will all suffer the same consequences before they realize who is from Mexico or Honduras. Indeed, the President-Elect bragged that he got more Hispanic votes. Enough blame has been cast on white women that did not vote for their own massively. It was even speculated that some of them enjoyed Mr. Trump locker room talk because they were so exposed and heard it from many boyfriends and husbands. After all, some were women that turned down a pay raise so that they would not make more than their husbands; until he lost his job. There is nothing wrong accepting and respecting husbands as the head of the family. They see most of the women against Trump as liberal liberated women envious of men. They burn their bra and cry sexual harassment at the same time. Of course women cannot be lumped or categorized into one camp or the other and some women do not belong to either camp. Some women are just sick and tired of hearing about Hilary Clinton for so many years and like elder Mrs. Bush, wanted someone else that is neither Clinton nor Bush to run. Others blamed the African Americans for not coming out like they did for Obama. Haba, ninety percent of them came out for Obama, but eighty percent came out for Clinton. Well, well, well! This is pushing it. Those that did not come out in percentages close to 70, not to mention 80% should be the last group to blame African Americans. 80% was still a high number if it is taken into consideration that black mass incarceration was signed into law during Bill Clinton’s reign. Moreover, black men have always been in the fore front of Civil Rights where they were mostly assaulted, jailed and killed in the process. Indeed, they have never been the main beneficiaries of Civil Rights gains. They have been the angry black men the country hardly listened to or took seriously. They have the highest unemployment rate even in good times. More of them are in the correctional system or on their way than any group of men. Donald Trump exploited that. Compare and contrast that to angry white men that propelled President-Elect Trump to victory! The helplessness and lack of jobs in the new economy of technology, automation and skillful training was in the black community well before the technology started affecting white men’s jobs. But most hardly care less. It is usually after the devastating community effect have been accomplished that most regretted “3 strikes” law. But black and white were equal drugs users. Nevertheless, the coalition Hilary Clinton brought into the political process won her majority votes. Yes, what matters is the electoral votes that is justified on the basis of vast rural areas with less population to avoid domination by concentrated populations in cities. In this modern age, there is no excuse that the same result cannot be achieved while taking both factors into consideration without one overshadowing the other. We must be clear, majority of white people voted for Senator McCain and Governor Romney. Most of the difference of about ten percent that took President-Elect Trump over Secretary Clinton have never voted for Obama. If anything, most of Obama white voters were probably dejected about their choice in the election and stayed home. If there are enough white voters of goodwill willing to live in peace and harmony with people of different races and ethnic group, nobody should lay the fault at their feet; as Obama voters that switched. Didn't the judges think about the rule of law before taking kickbacks, sometimes through lawyers acting as a front for them. It make brilliant lawyers that cannot win their cases without bribing the judges look incompetent. |
Osinbajo Ridiculed United Looters Of Nigeria At Harvard https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/235101/osinbajo-ridiculed-united-looters-of-nigeria-at-harvard.html# The Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo was invited to Harvard University Divinity School to give a lecture on Boko Haram by Professor Olupono. He gave informed overview in limited time last Thursday. It was the follow-up questions that caught the writer’s attention. What provoked his comment about United Looters of Nigeria was whether the money allocated to the military was well spent. A week earlier, former President Jonathan had defended it with arm purchased. When someone asked about differential treatment and marginalization, the Vice President as a skillful lawyer and Senior Advocate noted that when Nigerians loot, they do it as united clique of people. You would find different ethnic and religious groups united. But as soon as they cry marginalization, it usually comes at the expense of one ethnic group inciting other members that would hardly share their loot. The whole audience roar in approval and laughter! On his way out after the lecture, this guy kept on asking him why the Executive was attacking the Judiciary without due process or the rule of law in a democracy. Before the V.P walked closer, this writer had given the same guy a piece of his mind. He was asked if the countries that applied the rule of law and due process in a democracy granted bail to their worst offenders. If he knew that Western Democracy would kidnap, worldwide, their worst terrorist suspects! Corruption in Nigeria is worse than terrorism many countries face. The last time we checked, Western Democracy kidnapped suspected terrorists in Europe and American without due process or the rule of law. Indeed, some of them are still in Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. This kept the guy quiet for a while until the Vice President got closer. Since he was given all the attention he wanted during and after the lecture, there was no point arguing with him again. The real question for the Vice President should have been why the Country waited this long, until Buhari, to deal with corrupt judges on the bench. Some of them have frustrated efforts by dedicated prosecutors to bring rogues to justice. It became easier to convict looters outside the Country than inside because some of these judges were bribed by many parties before them. The Nigerian Bar Association know these corrupt judges that soil the reputations of people of high caliber that make up their profession. No government wants to be seen as tampering with the judiciary because of the separation of power. However, it is not a license to take kickbacks and hide under the rule of law, due process and democracy. There is no immunity for judges to commit a criminal act while in office and wrap themselves in democracy. It can be very frustrating for a counsel to go before a judge knowing that no matter how good the case or how sharp your skill, your case would be decided by how deep the pocket of your clients are. Even more frustrating for the clients that know they are right in their pursuit of justice. This is what leaves a country poorer in morality, ethics and fairness. A country without law and order becomes a jungle without sins. Our judges must uphold the law, not subvert the law. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came up through the legal system and as a former practitioner of law in government and private practice know a thing or two about the corrupt judges defiling their profession. We have all been in a position where we could not raise our voices in front of an oppressor, even when we know who the culprits were. By the time you become the Vice-President, your President would tap your knowledge about corruption in your profession. Whenever a body is afflicted with metastatic cancer, nothing can save it but a radical surgery or the body dies! Nobody gives that type of cancer due process or the rule of law in a democracy. This is why the Western Democracy we inherit these rules from fight terror with everything they’ve got. If they do not, there will be no country to protect. These corrupt people have no more stake in Nigeria. Their children and close families are living and schooling abroad. So if Nigeria breaks today, corrupt judges like their political cronies have nothing to lose. They actually have more to gain since they would have exported their foreign currencies outside. Crying bloody murder and rape of democracy would not fool those well aware of their games. It is the innocent, naïve and uninitiated that would fall for their hypocrisy. One of the judges claimed he made his money from selling rice! Haba, even mama Fatai whose rice is enhanced with fried plantain and beans, the whole neighborhood got addicted to, never had a fraction of their money in foreign currency at home. All crooked businessmen claim they made their money from trade but never paid commensurable tax to governments reflecting their income. The Country itself is getting poorer as they bleed it dry, not richer. A kid stole from her mother. When queried, she said she wanted to go to Congress. That’s what they do! While Osinbajo trumpeted the success of President Buhari on Boko Haram and Corruption, some of his demeanor came through watching him closely. Unlike other politicians that gave similar lecture, he was prepared, unassuming, reassuring and confident in his delivery and answers. Some undiscerning people may undermine his stature; his skill in the courtroom and among peers showed a man that was able to overcome physique with hard work and intellect. Of course most politicians are brilliant, for someone that made his way through the system, this man still has a clean record that he can be proud of. Meeting him for the first time, without claiming to be a prophet or a palm reader, Osinbajo may have just started a long career as a Vice-President. If he keeps it up and not tempted by all the feferities and accolades that come with the staff of office, he may have the highest role to play in the future of Nigeria governance. He happens to be another Nigerian where clean and permanent leaders still evade presentation from the Western part presently, to the rest of the Country. Osinbajo, like other conscientious Nigerians may be that leader. He is still considerably young and talented. The writer is aware of who appointed him for Buhari, but sometimes God works in a mysterious ways amazing us. As long as he remains steadfast with Buhari in their fight against corruption, no matter whose ball is squeezed, Osinbajo has a long way to go. UN Can Create United Country Of Refugees There are no people more disrespected, oppressed, alienated, despised and castigated than the refugees no matter where they are. What is surprising is the amount of money allocated to the welfare and management by most of the countries including some of those countries where they are despised. We are talking about billions of dollars that could start a new country. Even policing them for their own protection cost money. It was inspiring to see them at Rio Olympic.[s][/s] Most refugees and migrants always start from afresh. Agriculture from scratch to the finished product must be foundation of United Countries of Refugees so that they could be sufficiently fed to the point where they could export their products. It does not make sense to create another basket case country looking for hand-out from the rest of the world. In other words, the world richest countries must not create another country just to feed their raw materials. Some countries like Italy, Canada and even United States locate some of these refugees in areas where their population is dying. Indeed, most countries dare not expose to their citizens that immigrants are needed in view of their dwindling birth rate and lack of young ones to support their elderly population’s social security. The indignities meted out to refugees have been heightened by the disruption of African and Middle East countries by nation builders. It is hard for most people to believe that South Africa handles one third or fourth of world’s refugees and migrants. It has resulted in xenophobia among neighbors and fellow Africans that used to get along especially during the era of Apartheid when Africans unite in the struggle for Independence and Freedom from oppressors. South Africans are disillusioned and also in need. Lebanon with a population of 4 million, harbors 1.5 million Syrian refugees. Just as world powers have tried to shape individual countries according to their economic dreams as suppliers of raw materials that can be sold back to them as finished goods, African and some Asian countries have home grown dictators that have sent many of their talents out in the cold crossing seas and deserts looking for saviors among their colonial masters. By the time they find out that they can only become second-class citizens, they rationalize their plight. United Country of Refugees should be totally different from safe-zones where people of war-torn countries could settle. It must also be different from Israel where existing people were forced to give up their land with the consequences of civil wars and strife. If anything, we have to learn from those two types of creation in forming United Country of Refugees. Others may argue that there is no more habitable land. There are, China created islands in the South sea! This is why the rich and the powerful are searching the Universe for another planet where they can move to as they destroy the only planet we know: denying climate and global warning. In creating another country for refugees, we must re-define who qualifies and in what numbers. We know that once there are civil wars, helpless refugees are created. On top of that are economic refugees and conscientious migrants. Nobody thinks it was going to be easy to define. What is clear is that we are dislocated around the world by terrorism that has lowered our tolerance for one another. It is political suicide to welcome them. Class, political and religious divide between people in the same country has fractured civilized living and created enmity across the bridges. In that case, a classless, nonpolitical and nonreligious community could be a starting point. In other words, could humans function without class, religion or political beliefs? It has been postulated that Muslim refugees coming into Christian countries should leave their religion behind as essential qualification for acceptance. It becomes a question of which is more important to each refugee. Indeed, some refugees, running away from wars and economic ruins have opted to become Christians to enhance their acceptability into the new country. We also know that in Saudi Arabia, one of the conditions to work and stay temporarily is to abide by the Muslim (Sharia) laws. You cannot establish a Church or try to convert anyone in many of them. Religion is very important to man and we have always created one to instill the fear of God. Even among those that do not believe in religion, most think about some superior being. When we are alone, weak and desperate most people look up to something. We can call it love, luck, charm or devil. We pray for something to lean on when in need. Since some people believe that God created man in his image, some of us look for someone to lean on. Political belief is easier in these days of mix economy. The days of serfs and lords are gone but capitalism with a human face remains just as socialism with capitalist tendencies to create incentive to work hard and produce. But we have to be sincere; some people are followers while others are leaders. Even if each refugee is given a million dollars into their new country, by the end of a year or two, some will become penniless while others become billionaires. Money creates class. Whether we like it or not, classes will emerge in the new United Country of Refugees! People send their money differently. While some spend frivolously, others are guided in their spending, saving more than they spend. Indeed, the poor are more generous to one another than the wealthy. The very rich do not start giving their money away, until they get old and cannot take it with them. Even then , it’s among insightful or broadminded. See G. Soro. Waiting to solve or neutralize religious, political and economic interest is another form of procrastination. The united Countries of Refugees can be administered by the present United Nation taking representatives from the refugees and migrants until such a time when they can be granted Independence under laid down constitution that would minimize religious and ethnic differences. Most refugees and migrants always start from scratch in their new homes. Therefore, looking for space of land to allocate the refugees is a task in itself. If United Nation actually finds a land for United Country of Refugees, it may actually encourage more refugees from regimes they do not like or they disagree with. What is clear is that man has the capacity to create a new country but may lack the ability to sustain it. Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris offered to buy 1 of two privately owned Greek islands for Arab/African migrants and refugees. |
African Politicians Are Schemers Not Policy Or Law Makers It is painfully humiliating when flagrant budget padding and stealing not known as corruption were also displayed to the external world. When salary was not paid, one resorted to stealing to feed family. Hijacking money was not only in the Rio Olympics; our foreign embassies suffer the same indignities. Unpaid rents are forcing landlords to kick out foreign officers, our teachers and workers locally. This is how university students started going into nefarious activities. Who is next, our professors? Most societies elect leaders to make policies and laws governing their countries. But African countries have lost control of their politicians. They are schemers whose only goal is to rob their communities blind. They may have been elected as Presidents, senators and representatives, what we have in place are people that created special niche for themselves to legally drain the treasury with outrageous salaries that are out of step with their fellow citizens and the world. When it gets to the point when IBB, a former military President of Nigeria said what had been obvious to everyone: that politicians should have been made part time workers, our suspicion has been confirmed long ago. In disguise of discharging their responsibilities, they dole out and execute contracts to cronies. After all, their self-remuneration, there is hardly anything left for infrastructure or to develop the country. That is highway robbery not governance. Any fund allocated for projects, people, pension, housing, schools and health are hijacked. Not even money kept in the Central Bank is secured. The President can order the Governor of Central Bank to deliver cash to any location specified in his order. What is surprising is how they get away with their jumbo salaries and allocating themselves contracts when common people are not paid salaries. Our Olympics soccer players could not travel well in advance before the match and had to be bailed out by other sources. They were not sure the money given to them as a personal gift by a Japanese mogul would get to them when authorities want the money channeled through our officials. Somebody was already planning how to hijack their personal money. If anyone ever accused a Nigerian official of hijacking, diverting or stealing funds, they would rather sue you. National players had complained that they had to pay to play in order to represent the country. Their salaries are usually withheld by some obsequious officials waiting to be bribed before they release some of the salaries, if any. Even coaches have to beg before their salaries, signed and sealed by agreement, are paid. They are yet to withhold salaries of foreign coaches. The fact is if the first officer decided to be honest, you can still bet your last meal that the next officer will embezzle the fund. No matter how honest the first line officers are, down the line salary, pension, gratuities or anything in form of money and material properties will not get to the recipients it was meant for. This has become a national “privilege” to be the first on line hijacker-caretaker or better still, the next politician. Nigerians are known among Africans for their bombastic arrogance and extravagant spending on dinners with expensive wines, jewelries mined in Africa but refined outside, on women, cars and houses that deserve the attention of the rich and famous. When we look at the sources of the money, reasonable persons must wonder if our humiliation is worth padding and stealing. What type of people watch their own suffer, humiliated, starved, rut across the desert and sea just because they want to be the only rich persons among so many? Even capitalism used welfare as shock absorbers to prevent bloody revolution. But in countries without safety nets for the poor, desperate and educated class that have paid their dues are lacking basic source of sustenance. Oppressors of these people still do not face the anger of the masses. Every once in a while we hear the sporadic shouts of oyeshi, barawo or ole. But do not last enough or sustained by the owners of the future. Those are the university students. They are the most passive in a generation since they can afford all the man-made material toys and gadgets. Without Uranium from Niger, Gold from Ghana, diamond from Sierra Leone, most of these gadgets cannot work. Whatever they paid us in raw material, they get back in 100 folds. African countries cannot go on this way when the solution lies in our hands. We encourage and aggrandize these politicians to put us in perpetual poverty with no questions asked. Oppressors like children, do not spit out sugar in their mouths. They must be forced to vomit every penny they have accumulated and hijacked for the benefit of all. Even slave traders had to weigh the cost of revolts in the high seas, at home and abroad to calculated the cost of doing dirty business. These politicians are worse than our chiefs that sold us to slave traders. By turning them into part-time politicians, it will reduce the amount of legal stealing. But for other forms of bleeding the treasury, you may have to introduce Biblical “eye for an eye” and Sharia law for the rich since Sharia law only punish the poor. Yet people claim you cannot apply arcade laws into a modern society. There would be no Sharia if it applied to the governors that introduced it. They will fight it tooth and nail with democracy, rule of law, innocent until proven guilty or overwhelm the court with multitude lawyers. Above par or appearance of wrongdoing is not in the lexicon of our politicians. They may even sue and share the award with their corrupt judge and lawyer. That is if they do not destroy your career. |
WHERE ELSE ARE BUDGET PADDING STEALING & EMBEZZLEMENT EXCUSED Only in Nigeria would looters have the nerve, bold enough and stand up with impunity to define sneaking billions into budget padding, stealing, embezzlement, diverting salaries, diverting local government allocation into personal pockets for safe keeping, false declaration and extravagant spending on self could be excused as not corruption. In the same country if a hungry man dared steal food from the market, he would face jungle justice. Where is jungle justice for our looters? Until Babangida and Abacha made corruption official, there were voluntary tips or “dash” and then “ten percent”. One declared corruption as some family allowance, while the other made the country’s treasury his personal property. Actually, there was a coup partly because of “ten percenters” as corruption by young Army officers that took over. Little did they realize that their leaders in the Armed Forces would turn to “militricians” to compete in looting the treasury dry. We have people in high places as President of the Senate, his Deputy President and the Speaker of the House seating tight after being accused. Even when some of them have been charged to courts; colleagues abandoned their duties to appear in shameful solidarity, to intimidate the Court. The Senate President had more lawyers than witnesses, including foreign counsel, Senior Advocates of Nigeria and Queens Counsel. All expenses paid from the same purse they looted. The country has metamorphosed from rouges and vagabonds that could not get a decent lady to marry for fear of soiling lady family’s name to the most sought after bridegroom. As society degenerates, nobody cares again about corrupting the children and the next generation. They have become lost in their haste to get rich by any means possible. But then if they steal enough, they figure they could live anywhere in the world forsaking the country they leeched to death. Senators and Representatives pad up constituency allowance for special projects at hometowns. They are the ones that give out the contract, supervise them and approve all as done: making them the bidder and the executioner of fake projects that never existed in the first place. The President and the Governors have security votes they spend anyway they want. In short, there are some many ways to abuse the treasury legally apart from other illegal contracts. All it takes in any case is to attract foreign buyers or partner, either corporations or individuals that can deliver foreign money into their accounts that can be spent in the foreign countries. Africans patronize other countries more that they patronize one another. The products made in African are not attractive enough and not worth spending their time and foreign currencies on. It has been said that even countries that are corrupt, still make substantial progress than most countries in Africa. While those countries spend their loot and create jobs at home, Africans spend and create jobs outside. It is an ingrained mentality that the greatest pursuit of pleasure or happiness for many Africans is to be recognized outside. Even if it means they have to sell other Africans out into penury. So we are willing to sell one another like our old chiefs sold out the slaves and eventually themselves when they ran out of slaves. Therefore, in spite of all the awards and degrees earned, accumulated or bestowed on Africans by foreign universities and international bodies, our continent continues to wallow in dismal failure because no matter how much we try, we cannot be like Europeans or Americans; at most we can only remain second best. No international body would give an award to an African that does not gratify them, we know they are not that stupid to give us more than they get. So no matter how much out looters accumulate, they find it convenient to invest most of it where they do not belong because they and their children can only be tolerated for a while at best, discriminated against and humiliated at worst. If Africans want to be respected, we could have achieved more in our countries that would attract other countries we run to. In short, until Africans showcase Africa’s ingenuity to the world, no black man will be respected. At some point we have to examine the integrity of the people we elect as politicians and if money is the sole attraction to politics, look for way to discourage it. The only problem is that men of integrity, when elected turn to vagabonds. In cases where majority are willing to pay whatever the consequences for corruption, people of known good character would rather join them if they cannot fight them. A good example is Kongi Senator turned into thug and abuser. The major reason politicians steal is to have money they can convert to foreign currency and spend like a drunken sailor on luxury houses, cars and imported sussies. Indeed, Nigerians are known in foreign markets for their expensive tastes. Since champagne is their people’s drink, the most expensive Scotch whiskies are sold to Nigerians. Lately heard they have special chef that makes cakes costing thousand of pounds or dollars which is millions at home: for a cake! God needs their lives to save Nigeria. If not shipped to Ivory Coast, they are sent to Lagos. The lucky ones beat their chest on separation, yet they will not stop heading West on a daily basis. God have mercy on the little children and the rest of us. |
Celebrating Abudance In The Midst Of Poverty The few of us that live in gross opulence and luxury within each African country where most people suffer in squalor have no conscience unless we give some back. When growing up, we celebrated with the rich for their hard work, blood and sweat. When we saw a beautiful house, we praised the success of their owners, as we were encouraged to struggle and work as hard so that we could achieve the same. In recognition we always said: No there ime Papa born am O! Cultural adornment, appreciation and acknowledgement used in the past to pay praise singers have been bastardized. It started with sticking money on the celebrant’s and well-wisher heads or dance contests until money-miss-road turned it into hobby at every party to buy fame. They started hiring police to hold cash or follow them while they sprayed money. It has now gone viral with the use of spray guns. There is so much money fingers cannot spray it fast enough. It must be clearly stated that everyone has the right to spend her money the way he wishes. So if you work hard for it, nobody should grudge your style unless you spite others. Indeed, this writer was once told to change the money he wanted to give into singles and spray celebrant and his wife. This might have saved them the embarrassment that no one sprayed in his video! Today the rich are no longer respected. Even the hard working ones that made their money pure and clean have become suspects. Indeed, there are classes within the rich. We now have the filthy rich and the poor. Unlike the rich of those days, these nouveau riche are ready to sacrifice human lives including their own to be filthy rich, not just rich. They are so blinded by their own earlier poverty, they are indifferent to excessive aggrandizement to spite the poor. Lately, we see all types of currencies flooding the dancing area like flakes falling from the sky. The old timers that worked very hard for their money have gone back to the old fashioned way of giving celebrants money in envelops or writing checks so that they would not be confused with looters, drug dealers and 419ners. Actually, many might embarrass themselves competing with spray guns dishing out money faster than it could be printed. When salaries are not paid, retirees are not paid, hard working and well educated that have played by the rules are left out to beg and suffer; it is not surprising that young and old people resort to unsavory ways to make ends meet. Grandfathers and grandmothers are caught at the airports trying to smuggle drugs out of the country or used as drug courier. There is something fundamental wrong that one administration after the next has become indifferent to. The amount of illegal and underground cash driving the markets has flooded the economy with increasing price of goods and services beyond the means of average earners. In order to live a comfortable life with regular supply of clean water and alternate electricity modestly, one has to earn more than the average Bobo. It takes more to keep our heads just above water. Since when have we become beggars in order to eat? We ask politicians to create enabling environment so that every family has enough money and can afford to buy food for every member of their households. Instead, they have turn food into a lottery for the starving poor and dwindling middle class. When it gets to a point where people are stepped on and a few crushed to death just to get a bag of rice, garri or tuber of yam, there is no reason to celebrate. What is nauseating is that politicians distribute food and essential items freely in order to curry votes and favorable ratings from those that are willing to subject themselves to their whims and caprices as being kind, generous and graceful. We encourage more of them to take us for granted. It is hard to believe that we have to be starved almost to death before we differentiate the devils from the lesser devils. Won fi owo Abu fi se Abu la lejo. They take a tiny little bit out of the money they stole from us to placard the novice, naïve and the desperate ones among us. They have mansions and luxury cars in every major city of the world, from what they padded in the contracts, budgets, fathom salaries of ghost workers and outright looting even when our politicians are the highest paid in the world. The governors have turned local governments into their subsidiary piggy banks. Any reasonable observer would expect this is what would ache people in individual African countries and a good reason to set up special courts to try and jail these vagabonds. We are more willing to tolerate looters and find excuses under democracy, the rule of law and order. Even when they are tried and convicted, crocks have supporters wondering why them and not others. So if police cannot flag down everyone speeding on the road, no one must be punished. While there are valid cases of abuse and selective prosecution, the best way to make sure every dog has its day is to change one government after the next. It is the only way we can have crooks probing and punishing crooks. This is how it is usually done in countries we emulate so much with parties of different ideologies and principles. There is every reason to turn against those who turn us into hungry man, women and children by looting the treasury dry. People want meat in every pot, garri in every bowl and clean water to drink rather than stay on the line for the mercy of their politicians using our money as hand- outs for problems they intentionally created for people that are not lame, blind or deaf. We are so engrossed in ethnic baiting, every disagreement flare up into violence. Yet others are calling for civil and ethnic wars. If a country has not gone through civil war before, that country could learn from those that had. Those that had civil war are calling for more. Separation into countries has not cured border fights in Sudan, Somalia or Rwanda.
