Chekitaut:Do you still supply granite? |
Response please Please how many days do I have to wait after the ground floor decking before raising blocks on it for the first floor? Secondly the blocks on my ground Floor have been completely raised from DPC and now waiting for lintel and decking but I want to leave it like that until end of February before going ahead with the next step. Is it okay leaving the blocks open for that long?(5 moths) Knowledgeable members kindly help with this urgent question. Thanks |

topsy23:Okay thanks |
twinskenny:Okay thanks cc: topsy23 Do you have a thread for your electrical work displayed and the cost of your electrical wires? |
topsy23:It’s in Portharcourt |
EgunMogaji2:Thanks for your response I asked him about Cutix and he said (it’s very expensive and We have other quality wires of reduced price, Cutix has gotten competitor with good quality But if u are ready for cutix we can go for it) according to the Electrician |
twinskenny:Thanks for the response, it’s in Portharcourt Please any recommendations for reliable electrical wire sellers in Lagos or Onitsha or any other place ? What amount can I negotiate for the Labour? |
Bosses please help me and access this quotation i got from an electrician for only the ground floor of a 2bedroom and 3bedroom flat in a 2-storey building. Please I would need all advices on the type of good wiring to use for steps to follow when wiring a building because I believe wiring is one of the most important aspect of any building. It's a rented flat but i would need good wires to buy that would last very long with good durability. He said the Labour charge is negotiable and the cost of the pipe is the bendable one for conduit, he said the boxes can stand the test of time and the distribution box is the second grade. Please I need your inputs on this!!!!

sonnie10:The job of the engineer is just to supervise the site and direct the workers to make sure they are going in line with the Plan.I don’t know how far you have gone with this project but for a project of this nature, your best bet is to negotiate everything with a contractor, preferably one with building experience like an engineer . I gave him the opportunity to source for Example carpenter and Iron bender but I wasn't satisfied because they were both overcharging me and then i got different Iron bender and Carpenter to do the jobs that's why I don't give the Engineer the room to bring his own artisans but his masons are the ones still laying the blocks and also his welder did my overhead tank stand. Please what do you mean one by one? Each artisian wants to do the work in stages e.g Ground floor then First floor and so on. So they quote their charges and materials based on each stage of the building. |
EgunMogaji2:Okay sir thanks for your response |
What is the Estimated Cost for Decking of L21.225 X W12.525m about 429sqm (with 29 pillars) 2-Storey Building in Port-Harcourt area. Please I would like to know the quantity of materials that will be needed for the decking My blocks are moulded on site (25 blocks per 1 cement Bag) (Egs: Iron Rods, Cements, Sharp Sand, Gravels, Woods, Bamboo sticks, number of persons, Casting Cost and Bricklayer Labour cost. etc. The Iron bender is going to do Chain Lintel, beams, decking beams, Staircase Hall and decking ( My Iron bender is charging me #120,000 for decking and #50,000 for Lintel chain beam) Please is this not too much for the Labour cost of Iron bending? My Engineer says Lintel 9inches with mortar, decking 6inches with granite and sharp sand. 4 blocks laid to window and then 5 blocks to lintel = total from ground to lintel is 9 blocks then plus lintel makes it 10 blocks, then add 2 more blocks then bring out a decking beam (protector of the load bearing blocks) Materials suggested by my Engineer (Y16 -90length, Y12- 320 Length, Y8 -60Length), 2 Rolls of binding wire and as for Number of bags of cement he said 60 bags plus or minus. Also please see attached quotation given to me by the carpenter (My head is paining me after seeing this oh.....omg Lintels/beams - 70k Pillars - 40k Beams - 30k Decking - 170k Staircase - 15k Loosing of decking - 50k Total Carpenter Labour cost #375,000 Please our experienced Ogas in the house I would really appreciate the amount of materials that would be needed for this and the labour cost. michlins:Thanks very much for your response and I will get back to my welder and Engineer regarding this. KolaShangOne:Thanks for the response Sir, the steel tank makes sense but its the millions that will be the concern ![]() Dijita:Sorry to hear that Sir, May God deliver us from those type of family members... I hope they eventually finish it up for you. EgunMogaji2:Okay thanks Sir for your response. I appreciate your time. ![]() |
n3xt:Okay Boss, thanks I will put all you have said into consideration. H-Beam even comes out finer from the ones I’ve seen so far |
n3xt:The building is in PHC sir. So it’s the Steel village in Port Harcourt. So you think he can’t get a new 40ft length 4inches new pipes in the market? Also please the first time you replied and said hope he’s not welding else I should go for the H-beam, please what do you mean by this? And should I put the Steel overhead tank into consideration instead of the GP tanks I instead to use? Thanks so much Boss and I appreciate your time you take in replying my questions. |
n3xt:Thanks very much Boss for your response, so far the welder has informed me he’s getting a complete length of 40ft length of 4 inches pipe (10mm thickness) at Steel village and I will also ask someone to go with him to buy the materials, it cost 140k for each of the pipes. For me I like H-Beams and most people use them but he said it’s not advisable so if he can see the complete length then his advice is notable I guess. I plan to use 2500 litres(4 no’s) of water tanks. This your picture please what type of tank is that? Do you advice I use GP tanks or is there something more reliable I can use instead like what you have on the picture ? |
Goodmorning to our Able and wonderful Building Experts here, Attached is my building plan and please you can give any advice as i just finished with the German floor since May this year. I intend to make the 2nd floor just for my family alone so it will be joint 4bedroom flat at the 2nd floor of the building. Please I am building a 2-storey building with 3 bedroom flats on the right and 2 bedroom flats on the left side. I am doe with my DPC (German floor) and I would please need advice for making my OVERHEAD TANK STAND. My Engineer advises me to use 40ft length 4inches steel Pipes with 10mm thickness, that i shouldn't use H-Beam because it doesn't last. Please is it true that H-Beam doesn't last for Overhead tank Stand? Please Gurus in the house help me out here and Guide me....Thanks cc; n3xt EgunMogaji2 Dijita KolaShangOne rotecch77 And any other member that can also advice.
