PoliticsRe: Lagos Plans IPP For State Tertiary Institutions by BarryX(m): 3:19pm On Jun 08, 2013
naptu2: It's not such a novel idea in Lagos.

It all started with the Enron/AES barge idea of the early 2000s. The problem with that idea was that the government had to sell the electricity to NEPA which was supposed to distribute a percentage of the electricity within Lagos. However, NEPA didn't keep to its side of the agreement. All these happened during the Tinubu Administration.

The Fashola Administration built the Island Power Plant with the hope that it would eventually be able to sell electricity directly to the consumer. The Federal Government didn't sell any of the distribution companies to Lagos State (by law the Federal Government is in charge of electricity distribution), so the government decided to limit distribution to government facilities. The Island Power plant currently provides 24hrs power to Lagos House Marina, General Hospital Marina, Island Maternity, Lagos High Court Igbosere, Magistrate Court Igbosere and it also powers street lights on the island.

Another IPP project is planned for the Shomolu area. Somolu is the printing centre of Lagos. Many printing companies are located there. The government hopes to take these companies off the national grid and onto the Shomolu IPP (using the experience gained from the Lagos IPP which has been up and running for about 2 years now).
Nice explanation: BUT how is the distribution going to look like considering the fact that Most of the Tertiary Institutions are sparsely located ?

Above all»»» GRAISE is still the most beautiful,
Though I have a thing for LUPEY embodiment considering the ARSEnal et al----- Her Acceptance scores some points too!
BUT the most concise and witty reply to questions will be ADAOBI
Congrats to the Winner-----We need the spirit of being Good Losers in Nigeria because the lack of it is probably the cause of the security situation we have currently.

Still don't know how feasible the idea of IPP in tertiary institutions is going to pan out. It's a novel idea no doubt BUT I see "White-elephantiasis" written all over it. Don't see how he's going to complete it before 2014 though

Abbott: What a shame!
The man just disgraced his head.
He lacks tact, wisdom, judgment and sense.
What he does not understand is that, he has humiliated not his wife but his manhood, his very essence before his Protocol officer...
He is worthless than a loaf of agege bread...all the money in the world notwithstanding.
I'm interested in knowing how he humiliated his "manhood" .Whenever I hear that word these days Patience Jonathan readily comes to Mind
