Rhino.5dm:SSS arrests suspected ritualists in Akure yorubaland From Julius Alabi, Akure THREE suspected ritualists and their godfather who specialised in using human beings for their illegal act have been arrested by officials of Ondo Command of the State Security Services (SSS). advertisement The suspects, Femi Alo, Kayode Ajayi and Ojo Gegeleso and their godfather, Sunday Olusola (a.k.a. Ekun), were said to have been apprehended in their hideout at Akure metropolis as they were trying to use one of their victims for ritual. Parading the suspects yesterday in Akure, the Director of SSS, Mr. Boma Spero-Jack, said many innocent people in the state had fallen victims to the deadly gang while those who could not be used for ritual were compelled to bring specific amount of money to free themselves. According to him, during the raid of the suspects' camp known as "Evil Camp" at Araromi, a Honda Accord car with registration number: Ondo AW 137 AKR and a Sports Utility Van with registration number: Lagos FC 239 EKY, belonging to their godfather, were recovered from them. "We went to action as cases of kidnapping have become a daily occurrence in Ondo State and we have been given information on how we could get them and when we got to their abode. A new victim, Ganiyat Animasan, was about to be led to their shrine at Araromi", he noted. Spero-Jack, who took reporters to the shrine at Araromi, said a married woman simply known as Funmilayo who was about boarding a vehicle from Akure to Abuja before she was kidnapped, was swindled and duped to the tune of N250,000 and was also Molested. He however said the woman miraculously escaped from the gang before she could be used for ritual. The SSS chief, however, appealed to the people of the state to board vehicles at the park since the kidnappers operated more on highways. Narrating her ordeal, Ganiyat Animasan, a student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, said she boarded the kidnappers' vehicle along Owo/Akure Expressway on her way to school. ( remember one chance started in yorubaland even before independence hence the origin of kidnapping and ritualism in nigeria) She added that suddenly, an argument ensued between two of the "passengers" she met in the vehicle and a few minutes later, she lost consciousness and found herself in a dreadful shrine. "I was about removing my underwear when men of the SSS came to rescue me from the hand of the kidnappers. If not, I would have been dead by now", she said. Three of suspects, Gegeleso, Alo and Ajayi, while speaking with The Guardian confessed to the crime, saying that they were errand boys who brought innocent people to the shrine for a fee. "We don't know what happens to the people there after we might have taken them to the shrine. The remaining job is left to our godfather because he is the head of the shrine", they said. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/jan/10/28.html |

http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/04/05/teenager-nabbed-for-kidnapping/ There was pandemonium Friday in a private school in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, southwest Nigeria, when the headteacher of the school engaged a kidnap suspect, Sodiq Abiodun,18, in a fight when he was about kidnapping some pupils of the school. The incident occurred at Nissi Nursery and Primary School, Amolaso area in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun state. Narrating the incident to our correspondent, the headteacher of the school, Mr Adeyemi Adeleke stated that if not for the vigilance of the residents, the boy would have made away with some of their pupils who were playing on a field behind the school compound. According to him,”we were all inside the school busy collating the pupils’ report cards while some pupils were on the field playing football. One of the residents just came in to alert us that a boy is with the children on the field and they suspect him. I quickly rushed down there and enquired from him about his mission. “He was speaking like a fulani boy and before I could speak further, he had removed a knife with him and we started fighting. He wounded me but with the help of the people in the area, we overpowered him and handed him over to the vigilance group in their office.” He further stated that the matter was later transferred to Ibara police station by the vigilance group afterr he had made a statement in their office, saying,”the police could not help out as we were told to follow the man to his residence to confirm whether he is sane or not.” When our correspondent visited the office of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ogun state chapter office at the Old Works Yard in Abeokuta, the camp Commandant confirmed the incident and disclosed that the boy had been taken the police station after interogation. The Camp Commandant, Mr Tunde Sunday Oshunsi said, “the boy was taken down to our office by some residents of Amolaso and the school headteacher. We discovered that he had been thoroughly beaten with cuts in many parts of his body. We interogated him and since we didn’t have a cell here to keep him, we transferred him to the police station and the police rejected him, saying he had been beaten too much. “The police advised us to follow him to his house to know his state of health.” The suspect who spoke with our correspondent in the office of the vigilance group identified himself as Sodiq Abiodun,18, an apprentice shoe maker. “I am not a kidnapper, my father caused all this. He has not allowed me to go out in the last four days. He was threatening to kill me and when I found my way to escape, I ran out,” he said. While asking for his mission in the school with a knife, the young boy stated that he wanted to protect himself from being assaulted by his father. “I didn’t mean to kidnap anybody. My father lives at Akinoshin compound in Ago Oko area of Abeokuta. My mother is blind while my father is not doing anything than to be beating me and collecting all money on me. That was why I ran out from home.” A police source from Ibara police station confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone, saying that the boy had been given back to the vigilance group to look into his matter. “It was true that they brought the boy to our station, but immediately we saw him with several cuts on his body coupled with the way he was behaving, we advised the vigilante and the school authority to follow him to his residence to confirm the state of his health first before any further steps would be taken,” the police source hinted. —Abiodun Onafuye/Abeokuta |

Wednesday, 11 April 2012 14:01 Spain said Wednesday that one of its nationals had gone missing in southwestern Nigeria and was feared kidnapped. The disappearance of the man "has all the characteristics of a kidnapping for economic reasons," said Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo. Spanish media reported that the missing man is a 58-year-old doctor who works for a clinic belonging to a foundation financially supported by Catholic institution Opus Dei in southwestern Nigeria, a predominantly Christian area. "The organisation he works for has asked for total discretion," the foreign minister added as he arrived in parliament. "It is in the southwest of the country, not in the north, so there are no political implications of any type." Spain's embassy in Nigeria was working with the local authorities to resolve the case and the foreign ministry was in "permanent contact" with the man's family, a foreign ministry spokesman said. http://www.ipaidabribenaija.com/index.php/latest-news/item/2208-spanish-doctor-missing-in-nigeria-feared-kidnapped |

alj harem keep shooting yourself |
Ileke-IdI:would you like to see pictures of ekiti. considering your from the worst state ever in terms of development you have no buisness comenting on this thread |
all4naija: Why do you always state the obvious? Do you even read your comments before posting some of them?ode, i guesss its only igbos that migrate ,may i ask you what yoruba people are doing all over the north ,southeast an south south ,same with edos, urobos ,fulanis etc this is 2012 there should be no room for stupidity anymore, just because igbos are the most likely to succeed wherever they go does not mean they migrate more than others |
Wasquad: Biasness is absolutely shit here, talk abt Ogun where elite, prominent pple r frm. somebody is here talkin abt Anambra mtsheeeeeew!!!!!!!!!!!!no matter how you want to compare anambra will still beat ogun anyday anytime , go and compete with your peers. |
9jadelta: sentiment apart.. I give it to d sw states... Even those that didnt go to school are willing to learn...a few more years and you people will catch up with the north in terms of illiteracy while you keep shouting we are the best |
gbogboti: I feel u. They have the Punch newspaper so don't be surprise. They know how to make plenty noise about whatever they do. Be it small or great. You think all the First class and 2.1 they litter about were all merited? Lie! This is the. Secret, they have made all Nigerians believed that they are the most educated. Hence, claim they are the most intelligent. So when they release 200 first class and 3500 2.1 from a single graduating set, you won't question them. So also, they are making a way for them in the labour market. So bro, all na sense and psychology. Is just like the North making you believe that the are more in number compare to any other region in naija. So when they are we are greater in number on a census scale you will think twice when u want to question them. All na make believe. I work with quite a number of 2.1 from the South-West. I swear, I go just dey wonder how them carry make their 2.1? But "since them be Yoruba", its OK. Na dem go school and know book pass.they can only fool people with it in lagos and maybe other yoruba states, here in the east nobody cares, igbo women get upper hand then others have to hursle their way tru whether you igbo, white , yoruba asian, nobody gives a damn where your from and what school you attended thats why yorubas dont make it in the east despite their population here cus no room for wuru wuru and manipulations. |
slimderek: In Imo Students are Paid monthly...and yorubas had the so called free education like you claimed why didnt it boost them. |
alj harem: If the quality of education is that high, why don't people go to those states for their university admin ? The universities and states people go to of which I know of areyour smater than this, all nigerian universities even mushroom universities are filled to the brim hence federal govt is trying to build more and encouraging private ones, stop this siliness man , who told you people want to go to those schools. damm |
alj harem: thus they are illiterate ?lol i hope this rubbish ypu posted is not making you feel good right now , den una no get respect , how dare you compare anambra, imo with osun state na wa oo wetin i no go see for nairaland |
Yeske!:lol this people itre me , they are never tired of fabricating lies its no longer a secret the states with highest literacy rate are imo ,anambra, delta, abia, rivers ,edo ,cross rivers in no particular order |
this should answer your question to an extent Female literacy is seen as the key to raising living standards for the next generation. For example, a newborn child is far likelier to survive if its mother is well-educated. In Nigeria we see a stark contrast between the mainly Muslim north and the Christian and animist south. In some northern states less than 5% of women can read and write, whereas in some Igbo areas more than 90% are literate.

Dede1: The problem in Nigeria rests with people such as you and your ilk who would want to go to war because certain groups of people do not want to share this same nationality with you.i thought am the only one that cant figure out why people shit in their pants when crtain other people want to be on their own . humanly it makes not fucking sense considering these groups where all on their own before and where doing just fine |
Shollypopz: why are some Nairaland guys so bitter against naija girls??!! i mean how bad were ur hearts brokenwhat their saying is actually true, they might be doing it out of mischief but unfortunately its even worse than that , our women have turned to something else but i prefer to blame the nigerian system for that |
shymmex: Since, Nigeria seems to be getting worse by - it's high time we started clamouring for regional integration, and development as proposed by Prof. Wole Soyinka. We need to take power away from the center. Each region should include tribes, or groups - with a common ancestry, and language group. I believe regional government will encourage competition among each region, and enable developments in all part of the countryi hope yorubas are ready to fight hausa fulanis for kwara and kogi |
its time to stop blaming poverty and unemployment for wicked crimes in nigeria , we just have too many wicked souls walking around this country tufia |
