Disclaimer:What's your clueless mind thinking? Did OBJ give such advice in 2007 and 2011? |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday advised the All Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), to recruit into their government “men and women of character” if the party wins the February 14 presidential poll. Obasanjo said such people of character and integrity abound in all political parties and also in every parts of the country, adding that when brought in, they make things better for a government, the country and the citizenry. The former president, who addressed Buhari and other APC chieftains, said the advice also applies to other political parties. The meeting, which took place at Obasanjo’s Presidential Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was also attended by Buhari’s running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Senator Barnabas Gemade; Chief Audu Ogbe; Senator Bukola Saraki; and Chief Bisi Akande, among others. Obasanjo also broke his silence on the panel of inquiry report on the Petroleum Trust Fund, an agency headed by the former head of state, saying he was convinced that Buhari made no personal gains while his headship of the agency lasted. He said the panel’s report “was not of any material importance.” Obasanjo, who noted that he is still a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party and had chosen to remain firm in the PDP at the ward level, said regardless of the political parties participating in the elections, Nigeria “comes first and should remain paramount” to him. The former Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP said he put off all engagements outside the state capital in anticipation that Buhari and his party would visit him. He urged politicians seeking votes to engage in campaign of “issues” and how to solve the nation’s “crying problems” rather than feeding them with inanities. Obasanjo, who dropped the advice in apparent reference to the campaign of falsehood and misinformation against Buhari regarding his time at PTF, said he didn’t find anything against the former military ruler in the panel report initiated to look into the book of the establishment. The former president said he called off further inquisition into the PTF when Buhari assured him that there was no personal benefit accrued to him while his tenure at the PTF lasted. Buhari in his address, said: “Your Excellency, under whom I served the most lucrative appointment of the Minister of Petroleum Resources for three and a quarter years before he sent me on course. “When I set about the programme of going round the states, somebody has the temerity to ask me that when I come to Ogun State, shall I call on Chief Olusegun Obasanjo? “I don’t think I answered the man. I just looked the other way. I think that I should not come here (Abeokuta) in whatever capacity without calling to pay my respect. “Sir, it’s a fact that you know more than all we know about the problem that we are in. But what we will do is try to convince you to believe us that we are going to do better. “We expect your understanding and support, although you insist in remaining in PDP. I have reached a certain degree of frustration in my attempt for you to try to shift a bit but you have refused. “Briefly, we have been going around three fundamental issues – security, economy, corruption. This vicious circle is what the APC is determined to break. Because without security, there is no way the country can settle down not to talk of living in it.” http://theeagleonline.com.ng/obasanjo-to-buhari-form-government-of-people-with-character/ |
Ikengawo:Look at this f00l, So Fayose also who is talking about rule of law look at what is going on in his state... GEJ is someone who is blaming someone for what he is guilty of. |

temitemi1:You are f00l a big f00l for that matter, Tinubu rule Lagos for 8yrs and the PDP at the center cannot tag him with any form of corruption, They charge him to court and he was vindicated so what else do you TANist want? Atleast we have more than 15 PDP past Governors who have been convicted and some are facing trial but none from APC so far... Even PDP National Chairman Adamu Mu'azu fwho is Former Governor is facing corruption/Embezzlement charge and you are here opening that your gutter you call mouth to spew rubbish. |

"A country that does not obey rule of law is a jungle country!" President Jonathan. How does GEJ then explain Fayose's flagrant abuse of rule of law: abuse of judiciary, abuse of legislature, disrespect for due process in Ekiti State? Fayose supervised the beating of a high court judge, the secretary of the Chief Judge of the state while the court records in the office of the CJ were torn, yet no whimper from President Jonathan. The NJC directed the IG to provide Ekiti Judges with security so that the case of eligibility against Fayose could be dispensed with. Instead, Jonathan-led Federal Government deployed stern-looking soldiers and battle-ready anti-riot policemen to seal off the court premises and ensure no judge sit on the case. They did this because the case was likely to be against Fayose and so they shut down the Judiciary because of one man and here is President Jonathan now talking about the rule of law! Fayose got away with this sacrilege with the backing of President Jonathan and this encouraged him to do more. He gave logistic support to 7 PDP members of the House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker in a House of 26 members thereby implying that 7 is greater than 19. He has been running the state with 7 legislators in a house of 26. He screened his Commissioner-nominees and passed the budget with this 7 PDP lawmakers! Jonathan did not utter any word of condemnation, and here is the same President singing the rule of law as if he was talking to primary school pupils! Jonathan should start his rule of law by first making Fayose to face the law! Nigeria has no place anymore for pretenders and weaklings like Goodluck Ebele Jonathan! A country that breaks her own laws with impunity has no chance of success in whatever she does. Keru e koo maa lo. Jonathan has no answers to Nigeria's problems. |
emiye:Welldone bro we have we have given GMB Osinbajo... TANoids should go and die. |
naijareferee:Let me ask you one question, Did GMB visit South South and South East or not? did he campaign there or not?...The problem we have is INEC... GMB have 36 states and Abuja making 37 states to go round and the time frame is not enough... In 2011 election was held in April, Why did they want it to be hold now in Feb so as to not give APC much time to campaign round and also to rig it wont work.. |
