johnie: http://www.thesourceng.com/CoverstorySeptember22013.htm
The joke inthe political circles is that: “those Obasanjo want to destroy, he first dines and dances with.” It was the same strategy he used for the late Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo, former PDP National Chairman, Audu Ogbe, former Governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel and Atiku. In 2000, following series of disagreements between him and Okadigbo, their relationship became strained and the then president made up his mind to remove the Anambra-born politician from the Senate presidency. But he must not give Okadigbo the slightest impression of his grim design. Rather, he let Okadigbo into believing that their tiff was over.
It was a relieved Okadigbo that hosted Obasanjo to a well publicised dinner in his official Apo, Abuja official residence amidst cheers, dancing and popping of champagnes. One week after dinning with him, Obasanjo struck and allegedly orchestrated a fierce campaign for Okadigbo’s impeachment relying on a trumped up corruption charge. Okadigbo was eventually impeached on August 8, 2000.
In January 2005, it was the turn of Ogbeh to fall for Obasanjo’s poisoned chalice. His woes started on December 6, 2004 following a confidential letter he wrote to Obasanjo protesting the president’s ineptitude in handling the Anambra state crisis at that time. In the letter, Ogbeh had rued that Obasanjo looked the other way while reactionary forces turned Anambra to a battle ground. The former President’s reply to the letter was couched in name calling, insults and innuendos that suggested Ogbeh had some skeleton in his closet. What followed the exchange of letter between the two politicians was what many now consider as a bogus petition to the EFCC alleging Ogbeh had misused PDP fund.
On January 4, 2005, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP met and an elated Ogbeh thought the meeting had resolved his differences with Obasanjo moreso as the ex-General went with him to his house in Abuja to eat pounded yam. Few days after the make-believe pounded yam dinner, Obasanjo struck and forced Ogbeh to resign his position. Ogbeh is now an active member of the opposition APC.
Vintage OBJ! You are so on point, You forget that of Fayose, Atiku, Peter Odili etc |

But Obasanjo has been giving the opposition some semblance of traction.
It wouldn't be fair for him to display an open endorsement of Jonathan because doing so would contradict the sundry statements he has made lately.
Let's us wait till Buhari's campaign train hits Ogun State before drawing conclusions. I have 70% that GMB and his entourage will visit OBJ tomorrow and he will welcome them.... Might even deliver a speech tomorrow let's wait and see. |

kelechiodo: APC rally I try as much as possible to follow the campaign train of both APC and PDP via TV. And today was not different as I was changing channels from CHANNEL TV to NTA trying to catch up with the campaign. But surprisingly, what you get to hear are lies. For example in Owerri today, hear OKorocha as he spurns out lies. He started with my people, my people and then goes to baptist Buhari, Okechukwu Buhari and to the bewilderment of all and to Buhari embarrassment told the gathering that Buhari's grand mother is from Imo and that Buhari will speak Igbo to them. We are waited for the igbo speaking Buhari but we kept on hearing what look like kworuption and other inaudible sentences. I just hope that these politicians will stick to issues and stop all these lies. Okorocha lies: Buhari grand mother is an Igbo Buhari speaks Igbo There is free education in Imo etc PDP Ogun state rally I dont know what happened today in Ogun state. Who handles GEJ campaign publicity. The scanty attendance in Ogun state today is shocking. Fmr. Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu was absolutely right when he warned that GEJ marketers should be active and not docile. We all know that most of the attendance in most of these rallies are offered stipend by both parties but men, the Ogun poor attendance is absolutely too poor. Ahmadu Ali should be up and doing and I wonder why he was given such a sensitive post in his old age. Rotimi Amechi being younger is doing a very nice job in APC and sincerely, Buhari has never had it so good. @OP sorry to disapoint you, I watch APC rally live and Okorocha is the man of the people. About GMB great grandmother why not make your research first before you spew this lies... and about him speaking english ogbeni your lies will shake heaven not sure we watched the same Rally ooo. About the PDP in Ogun state, Bro i stay in Ogun state Sango Otta to be precise even that was a rented crowd you see them putting on T shirt of diffrent candidates from diffrent states, also the same GEJ campaign flag the green one they use in Oyo states was brought to Ogun states.... PDP should forget Ogun states cos 2011 defeat when they still have OBJ supporting them will be a child play to 2015 cos Amosun has done well to deserve 4 times as a Governor. |

Politics › How President Jonathan Covered Up The NIS Employment Scam.. by bashydemy(op): 5:24pm On Jan 12, 2015 |
One of the hall marks of Jonathan’s Presidency is the out frequent breaks of scandals involving officials of the administration concerning mindless corruption and graft. Since the inception of the Jonathan’s regime on 6th May 2010 we have had more than ten political scandals that borders on corruption. These are the pension fund gate, malabu gate; $20 billion gate; Siemens gate; N10 billion Minister of Petroleum Resources gates, South Africa gate and immigration gate to mention just but a few. In this short essay, I will restrict myself to the immigration gate that shocked the nation early this year because it poignantly captured how endemic and pandemic corruption and impunity have become in the country under the watch of President Jonathan.. The Nigeria Immigration gate was a recruitment scam perpetrated in the Office of the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro whose minister supervises the Nigeria Immigration Service. The Nigeria Immigration gate led to the untimely death of more than 19 young Nigerians that thronged the various immigration recruitment centres across the country in April, 2014 in order to be recruited into the Nigeria Immigration Service. It was established after the incident that available vacancies in the Nigeria Immigration Service were for only about 3000 placements. Apart from those that died, hundreds of these applicants sustained various degrees of injury after stampedes broke out in the various recruitment centres across the country because of poor crowd control measures. It was undeniable that the huge turnout of applicants was beyond the control of the immigration officials. The huge turnout of more than 500,000 young Nigerians in the various recruitment centres hunger for employment starkly and glaringly brought to the fore the chronic unemployment problem in the country despite phantom economic growth rate bandied by the government. It was later found that the recruitment was done without the approval of the Board of Customs, Immigration and Prisons, that is statutory responsible for the recruitments, promotion and discipline in the Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Immigration and the Nigeria Prisons Services. However, the Minister of Interior illegally, exploitatively and mindlessly collected N1000 each from more than 500,000 desperate and poor young Nigerians. Some of these young people have been on the unemployment queue for so many after leaving schools. What a pity! It is conservatively estimated that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro would have fleeced more than N500 Million from these hundreds of thousands of hapless and desperate young Nigerians who responded to an advertisement to apply for jobs placement in the Nigeria Immigration Service. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro is from Benue State. He is a well-known crony of the President of the Nigerian Senate, David Mark. A reliable source says that the contract for the recruitment in the Nigeria Immigration Service was indeed awarded by the Minister without a shred of competitive bidding contrary to the Procurement Act. It is widely believed that Abba Moro was recommenced to President Jonathan for appointment as Minister by David Mark. David Mark and President Jonathan enjoy a chummy relationship. So after this scandal broke out many Nigerians predicted that nothing would happen to Abba Moro because he is a crony of David Mark and that President Jonathan would do nothing. Events that have transpired since that incident and the fact that President Jonathan has bluntly refused to do anything to Abba Moro definitely proved these pundits right. Recall that the Senate constituted a Committee to investigate the incident. The Report of the Committee has not seen the light of the day. How can the Senate Committee do anything when it a crony/protégé of the President of the Senate, David Mark is involved in this sordid scam? It is disheartening that this matter has been swept under the carpet. In a well-run country Minister Abba Moro and all those fingered to have been responsible for this calamity would have been sacked and made to face criminal prosecution for negligence and fraud. But not in Nigeria under President Jonathan! Meanwhile, President Jonathan in his reaction to the incident promised to give automatic employment to relatives of those that died in the incident has not been fulfilled more than six months after the incident. At about the same time this incident happened in Nigeria, a similar one occurred in the Republic of South Korea when a ferry (MV Sewol) carrying hundreds of pass angers travelling from the port of Incheon in the North West to the Southern resort Island of Jeju capsized and sank and resulted in the death of hundreds of people. The incident was attributed to official negligence and the resultant national furore led to the resignation of the South Korea Prime Minister, Mr. Chung Hong- Won and the prosecution of the Captain and his crew of the vessel for negligence, homicide and abandoning ship. But in Nigeria, Minister Abba Moro is still in office and there is an official cover up of this horrible incident. Surely, South Korea is one country that its government have regard for its people; but not in Nigeria, where the government treat it people with absolute contempt and distain. In South Korea, government is responsive and responsible and there is strong enforcement of law and order. In Nigeria, there is no respect for the rule of law, and law and order is hardly enforced when those in authority breached the law. This particular incident and the nonchalant manner President Jonathan has handled it should be a pointer to Nigerian youths how low they are rated in the scheme of affairs under this administration. In the light of the above, will any reasonable young and unemployed person afford to cast his vote in the forthcoming election for President Jonathan and the PDP? |

Politics › I Don’t See Myself As A Nigerian; I’m An A Enemy Of The State” – Asari Dokubo by bashydemy(op): 12:56pm On Jan 12, 2015 |
Founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mr Asari Dokubo, has denied himself citizenship of the nation Nigeria.
The former freedom fighter said he couldn’t establish anything in a ‘strange land’ where his enemies abound.
Dokubo stated this while speaking as guest in ‘Rubbin Minds’, a programme on the Channels Television on Sunday.
The Niger Delta indigene who had vowed to make blood flow on the streets of the country if Jonathan loses as president of the nation come February 14, publicly declared that he had no regret dumping Nigeria for neighboring Benin Republic.
When asked why he did not establish his institution in the country, a fire-splitting Asari said: “I am a businessman. My business is mostly centered around education. I have about four schools.
“I have crèche, nursery and secondary school, King Amachree International School in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. I have King Amachree Automobile and ICT Academy and I have King Amachree Arts Academy and King Amachree Sports Academy.
“Its only education that I do. By March, King Amachree African University will come on board”.
He noted that his passion for education, despite not completing his own university education, was because the quality of education being offered in Nigeria was very inadequate as he believes “it just prepares people to speak English, to write and to make noise.
“Any student who graduates from my school is skilled,”.
Asked why, according to reports, he has a university in the Republic of Benin rather than building it in Nigeria, he said, “I don’t see myself as a Nigerian and I cannot establish a school in an enemy territory.
“For over 30 years, I’ve been at loggerheads with the Nigerian Government, first as a Student Union leader, then President of National Union of Rivers State Students, participating in student unionism.
“I have been an enemy of the Nigerian state, so to say. Up till today, there’s a treason trial hanging on my head and you cannot just put your business in an environment where one person would get up and say ‘I close down this business’.
“I want somewhere where I can express myself and flourish and that’s what I’m doing. We started small but gradually we are becoming bigger and bigger.”
Asari Dokubo, who became a citizen of the neighbouring Republic of Benin in 2013 maintained that he had never been a Nigerian citizen.
“I have never been a Nigerian. Nations are not created by force…they are created by the people. You saw Scotland trying to vote yes or no. Today no Scottish man can say ‘I’m not a Briton’ because majority of Scottish people have accepted to remain in the British Union.”
He also gave his opinion about Nigeria’s 2014 National Conference, maintaining that the existence of a “no-go-area”, among other issues, meant that the country was yet to hold a sovereign national conference, which he had demanded for 30 years.
“We don’t want a situation where somebody will arrogate to himself the power to decide the fate of other people. We want a Nigeria that recognizes that there are different nations no matter how small they are, and they are accorded the same space in Nigeria,” he added. http://dailypost.ng/2015/01/12/dont-see-nigerian-im-enemy-state-asari-dokubo-watch/ |
