"Two things happened, it was obvious that there was a gang up to kill this bill. People that are supposed to be fasting came back and shouted nay", he said.

"We all heard it and still the presiding officer gave it to the "nays".

My question to these people that supposed to be fasting is;

1)Why did you say "No" to the development of south East?.

2) Is it your personal money that will be used for this project?.

3) Can you honestly tell me with facts what your states contributes to the project Nigeria positively more than these SE states?.
when the SE answer the reason why lagos special status bill was killed. The bill would have further prooved that lagos is a no mans land as you have always wanted us to believe. But you killed it,knowing deep inside you and sub-consciously that it belongs to the Afonjas.

Politics › Re: BREAKING: Mayhem In House Of Reps Over South-east Devt. Commission by Basic123: 6:44pm On Jun 01, 2017
metroblogger:
The House of Representatives was on Friday, engulfed in a rowdy session as members debated a bill concerning the South-East Development Commission (SEDC)

It is understood that those leading the protests in the chambers are members of the House mainly from the South-East geopolitical zone.

They are said to be upset over the abrupt withdrawal of a bill seeking to create a South-East Development Commission, despite the best efforts of House Speaker Yakubu Dogara in explaining that the bill was stepped down because its sponsor, Honourable Chukwuka Onyema, was absent from plenary.

Addressing the House on the matter, Speaker Dogara said the lawmakers were not against the bill, but that debates could not be continued due to the absence of the bill’s sponsor, Hon Onyema.

Order eventually prevailed in the House after about 15 minutes of pandemonium as the bill is now being considered by the lawmakers.

The SEDC has been one of the contentious bills in the legislature following its introduction in 2016 as a response to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) introduced in 2015.

Although its core objectives are yet to be debated, advocates of the bill say it will help tackle alleged marginalisation of the south-east and bridge the development gap of the region – a cry that’s been amplified in the present administration as manifested in the recent exclusion of the south-east in the Federal Government’s modernisation policy of railway projects nationwide.

This also comes amid heightened separatist pressures in the region that saw a massive sit-at-home on May 30 (Biafra day) that crippled economic activities across all five states and parts of the south-south.

For now, the future of the bill is at best conjectural.

Politics › Osinbajo Postpones Thursday’s Budget Signing, Presidency Gives Reasons by Basic123(op): 6:41pm On Jun 01, 2017
Osinbajo postpones Thursday’s budget signing,
Presidency gives reasons
ON June 1, 2017 6:29 PM / IN News / BY
Tony / Comments

A Presidency official has explained why the budget
signing ceremony billed for today became a no-show.

The official attributed it to the extensive
consultations between the presidency and ministers,
on one hand and National Assembly members on the
other.

The National Assembly on 11 May passed the record
7.44 trillion naira ($24.45 billion) budget for 2017.
Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo was
expected to sign the document today and reports had
said he had invited both the Senate President, Bukola
Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Yakubu Dogara to the ceremony.

However, some of the ministers were clamouring for
some changes in the budget, as the final figures
approved by the National Assembly were much lower
than what the President submitted.

Last December, President Muhammadu Buhari had
tabled a N7.298trillion budget to the Assembly, but
the lawmakers jacked the final figure to NN7.44
trillion

The budget aims to pull Nigeria out of a recession
that was caused by low global oil prices that have
slashed government revenues, weakened the Naira
and caused chronic dollar shortages.

“There are ongoing consultations between the
executive and the legislature over the budget.
Consultations have not been concluded,” Senator Ita
Enang, senior special assistant to the president on
Senate matters told Reuters.

Last year’s budget, which was passed in May 2016,
similarly faced delays, such that capital expenditure
was extended till 4 May2017, well into another budget
cycle.

Politics › Re: For Southerners. by Basic123: 4:23pm On Jun 01, 2017
shullamite:
From all your statements in this forum, it is clear that the unity of the south lies in the hands of the southerners.

The truth has been said by igbodiffender that we the southerners need to unite. If the easterners were treated nicely as our brothers and as fellow Nigerians they will not struggle to break away to form Biafra. But come to look at the whole issue on ground politically, the south is disadvantaged. I am from the Niger delta but I am very very angry to see how disunited the entire south is.

I will commend the igboes for their support for goodluck Jonathans administration and it made a lot of Niger deltans to value and see the igboes as their true brothers, but we still need the south westerners to join the fold so that the unity in the south will be complete. We have the numbers, we have the brains, we have the strength, we have the wisdom.... But why can't we unite once and for all to become strong.

Let us forget what happened in the past and forge ahead, let us forget the pains we felt during the civil war, let us forget how goodluck Jonathan lost the last election, let us forget the treachery of one another against us in the past and unite the entire south. United we stand and divided we fall.

The journey toward uniting the south has already started by the way fani kayode, fayoshe and some other westerners supported nnamdi KANU during his prison days and the love they showed him after his release from prison.

Let the great leaders of south south arise, let the great leaders of the south east arise, let the great leaders of the south west arise and unite with one another and see themselves as southerners. All southerners should know that WINTER IS COMING and we need each others help to face it. Yorubas need igboes, the Niger deltans need igboes, the igboes need yorubas, the igboes need the Niger deltans, we can only succeed if we help one another and forgive one another of our past deeds. We all have made mistakes and we should not allow our mistakes to keep repeating itself. With tears in my eyes I am writing this message. Southerners wake up.
Yorubas dont form alliance blindly we have to know the reason behind it.

I wonder why you guys always forget the overwhelming support yorubas gave GEJ in 2011.

so what treachery are you talking about!

Yorubas voted for GEJ in 2011 and he was voted out in 2015 when his performance was not satisfactory to them.we dont vote base on emotion and tribe, simple!

Politics › New Ohaneze Ndigbo President Intelligent Speech. by Basic123(op): 4:11pm On Jun 01, 2017
I like d speech of d new Ohaneze Ndigbo President. Pls read objectively.

In my own opinion, d enemy of Ndigbo is Ndigbo itself. I remember a time in this country when all d 6 ministers in Jonathan's kitchen cabinet were all Igbo's. Ayim Pius Ayim was SGF, Ngozi Okonjo Iwealla was in charge finance, Emeka Wogu was in Labour and productivity, Berth Nnaji was in Power and Energy, Dieziani Madueke was d powerful minister for oil. The 6 of them outside d Federal Executive Council would meet and decide what and what not to be discussed at d larger FEC. Whatever they decided would eventually be d position of government. In 6 years, this was d situation. Okiro and Onovo had d police under their control. Ihejerika and later Minimah controlled d Army. These powerful Igbo's could do and undo. Nigeria was in their pockets. Rather than care about d poor Igbo chaps scattered all over d country, they were busy diverting billions of naira into their accounts at home and abroad. D 2nd Niger Bridge, they didn't do. They shared d money. The Lagos/Calabar rail lines passing through 9 States, 3 of them in d SE, they were not bothered. They refused to pay d Chinese d Counter part fund. They shared d money. Enugu/Onitsha, Aba/PH and other roads of economic importance to their fellow Igbo's, they abandoned.

Who is to blame? Who is marginalising d Igbo's?

You had your chance, you bungled it. There was only 1 Yoruba minister worth mentioning at d time, Akinwunmi Adesina. He was in Agric. His budget was less than 1% while Emeka Wogu in Labor had over 10% for his ministry, Ayim had unlimited access to d treasury for d benefit of himself and family members. The poor Igbo guys meant nothing to him. If an Igbo becomes President tomorrow after Jonathan, will there be any difference? The Igbo man will marginalise his fellow Igbo people.

Girls in Aba start sex at age 10 , research shows
ON October 27, 2016 7:02 PM / IN News / BY
Okogba / Comments

A medical practitioner, Dr Godwin Uwaoma, said on
Monday that girls in Aba, Abia engage in active
sexual activities from the age of 10, raising higher
chances of contracting HIV.

Uwaoma, the Chairman of the Thematic Working
Group at the Nigerian Faith Based Advisory Council
for AIDS (NFACA), told the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) in Aba that a 2014 research revealed the
development.

He said that the study was conducted to find out the
awareness of preventive measures among youths in
the secondary schools for the Department of Public
Health at the Imo State University.
“We discovered that some girls in Aba start sexual
activities at the age 10 to 12 and that at the age of
12, girls in Aba have “regular boyfriends” with whom
they agree to have sex regularly.

“This was not known before. Usually HIV prevention
was targeted at age 15 upward but we now know that
before 15 they have become sexually active.
“And there is a lot of difference between when you
are forced into it and you remove yourself thereafter
and when at this age you now have a regular partner.
“That was what we discovered and it is not normal
but an aberration but obviously the fact is there,” he
said.

At a lecture organised by the Aba chapter of the
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to mark their
week, Uwaoma called for prevention rather than cure
which was unavailable for HIV cases.
He urged the students to desist from watching
pornographic films, playing sexual games with
opposite sex and keeping bad friends to save them
from sexual temptations.

In another lecture titled “Sex and Puberty,” Dr
Kenneth Ngwogu, a lecturer at the Abia State
University, said that puberty brought changes in
character and body composition to young people.
Noting that most youths ruined their lives through
dangerous actions like early sex, Ngwogu urged them
to consult doctors or adults to manage the
challenges of puberty.

He charged the youth to desist from sexual activities
which could refocus their attention while in school to
reach their goals of becoming successful people.
