It would be better for the USA or a credible group of Anglo-Saxons to colonize Nigeria and impose FREE MARKET rules that would generate high living standards for the Nigerian people over the long term, and of course the COLONISTS would become EXTREMELY wealthy too. That's exactly what has happened in South Africa. White South Africans have the HIGHEST LIVING STANDARDS of any White people in the world, while Black South Africans have the 2nd highest living standards among national groups of Negroes in the world. There's strong likelihood that even during Apartheid, Black South Africans had higher living standards than Nigerians.

That's the reason Black South Africans don't have a high rate of migration to Western Europe or North America. They have their own White Slaves providing the ideological and practical scaffolding upon which the entire population can work hard and build a highly developed nation.

Yes, independence and self determination is good as a distinct state of existence. When ANY consideration of economic well being is introduced to a discussion of nationhood, then there's clearly some trade offs and balancing to be made to achieve superlative development. That's why 20% of the population of Venezuela has FLED THE COUNTRY since 2014 when Socialism was being imposed on the country. That's 8 million people that have CHOSEN higher living standards over social justice and national self determination.

That's why so many people on this discussion thread live in Western Europe & North America, we PREFER White domination over Black rule. Yeah it sounds really bad, immoral and self hating, but it's true no matter how stridently anyone denies it. Black Africans are even now CELEBRATING the growing availability of CHINESE kindness as an alternative to Euro-Whites perfidy. Zimbabwe chose dignity, independence and self determination and kicked out Whites and brought in the Chinese. It's over 20 years now, almost a generation. Hopefully it's worked out well for them.

Yes, the USA has done the right thing here, including buying the crude oil that was going to China & Cuba, I'd rather we take it...but buying it is OK too. Hopefully THE PEOPLE of Venezuela will choose better governments for themselves going forward and yes that may mean fighting the USA for the right to do so, but in my view they would do better as a colony of the USA. Same as Nigeria would do better under UK rule, but who wants to be called a RACIST?

Nations need to be careful with these developments.
These projects that China are building are to improve access to it's raw materials. Roads,railways ,ports, airports etc.

Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable.

That Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before. Wars for regime change or oil that are sold as strength but turn into chaos, and American families pay the price.

The American people do not want this, and they are tired of being lied to.

This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s cronies.

The President is putting troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no benefit at home.

America needs leadership whose priorities are lowering costs for working families, enforcing the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and — most importantly — putting the American people first.
