GloriousGbola: this is a link inside the articel
https://nypost.com/2024/06/05/business/democratic-senator-blasts-5b-program-as-failure-after-only-7-ev-charging-stations-open-in-3-years/
i suspect this is a big oil article
and it is obviously tangential
as i write this, my company has installed 10 charging stations in lagos . we are installing two more this week
public charging station are either ac or dc. dc are the fast charging ones . a fast charger dc is rated from 60kw to 120kw to 300kw . these can charge your vehicle in 30 minutes
installing the charger is only one part of the equation. the other part of the equation is where do you get the power from? and who pays for it?
we met with a guy who wanted to deploy 3 chargers for a bus terminal we did the maths and told him he would need a transformer to power them properly . who then pays for the power? so all those issues have to be addressed since this is public infrastructure . that is the part the article is skimming over
the other part you are missing is this is actually how you grow industries
obama took two chances in his admin - solynara and tesla. solynara failed, but without the loan, tesla would have failed as well and that is actually how governments create industries and jobs - not by tariffs On a side note about car charging and EV . I'm always critical of Green New deal with regards to reliability if renewable sources Activists have made it impossible to build nuclear power stations in the West, hydros are huge undertakings on vast amounts if land, they banning coal Literally Carbon Dioxide has been sentenced to death. Back to your charging station .EV need huge batteries, Teslas have some upto 100KW Take an average American with AC, heating and every other fancy thing. Spends average 30KW a day computed annually. One Tesla or 100KW car needs more energy than 3 houses . It's ironic to use diesel to charge EVs and for govt to waste money virtue signalling. |

China doesnt play fair, they manipulate their currency, they pay low wages, they dont care about their workers etc, Its either US meet them in using the same tactics or find other ways to counter them through tariffs
How can more regulations, taxing the rich and strong unions bring manufacturing, those 3 are all anti manufacturing. Android17: Zelensky represents the greedy and evil globalists who got used to stealing and enjoying taxpayer's money. That's the part people forget - the financial aid from the US is entirely money pried off the hands of the American taxpayers.
That money was being recirculated and redistributed to the globalists, NGOs, the DNC, personal coffers of Biden, Kamala etc as well as the bloodthirsty congressmen and women from both houses including but not limited to Lindsey Graham, Chris Murphy, Mark Kelly etc.
So Zelensky trying to end Trump is akin to an assassin that pulled the trigger. He was only doing what he was instructed to do. Trump signified the end of the largesse and like SLS said, when you fight corruption, it will fight you back. Just seen a post that Ryan Routh the guy who attempted to kill Trump at the golf club had been speaking to a contact about buying a stinger missile from Ukraine. Contact was not a Fed guy.NEW: The DOJ alleged in a late-Monday motion that would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh ATTEMPTED TO BUY A ROCKET LAUNCHER FROM A UKRAINIAN ASSOCIATE weeks before his Sept. 15 attempt.
"I need equipment so that Trump cannot get elected," Routh allegedly told his Ukrainian associate.
The DOJ also claimed that Routh was in touch with a Mexican human trafficker about smuggling Afghans into the U.S.-- and later about escaping the country after he killed Trump--and that he used stolen license plates and fake names such as “John White” and “Brian Wilson.”

Trump of course will never forgive him for that, but right now Trump will tolerate him because he wants to end the war. bemeruca: Talks have not cured the issue. By the time you know Yemen will start saying they have made nuclear weapons if Iran is successful. We know their ambitious motive. Even Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations around that region know what's at stake. That's why they are seeking protection from the US and Israel.
If Iran makes the bomb why won't the Saudis want one?
People who wake up with the chant of destroying the US, Israel, and conquering nations around should not be allowed to own a bomb like that.
America's hands-off approach will only allow chaos. We saw it when Biden was around. Iran triggered Hezbollah and Hamas.
Israel really handled all the threats around. What about their proxies? They asked them to stop attacking the US after 3 soldiers were killed. Since then the proxies have stopped attacking US bases.
They are always looking for what they can get away with. They have boxed themselves now. By showing what they could do and how they could spread ballistic missiles to terrorist actors, they cannot be trusted with a bomb like that. That program must shut down They should send a dud tomahawk through Khameneis bedroom window. That's the language bullies understand. Why would he not? FBI last year reported Iran had smuggled an anti-aircraft missile to shoot down Trump plane. A tomahawk would bring him to the table. Reagan bombed Gadaffi' s tent , his stance changed forever and he started cozying up to the west. |

Omofaye99: While the point you made seems valid. I believe Trump's aggressive approach is misguided and ultimately harms consumers. Americans way of life is different from other countries, the hurt is way worst compare to say Nigeria if we compare socioeconomic context of both. Instead, why not consider a quota tariff on imported goods? This would protect domestic production without leading to a broad price increase that resembles a trade war. It’s a more balanced way to support local industries while keeping options affordable for consumers.
My Opinion. The American economy did not take off when MBAs took over and sent manufacturing abroad. They get very good returns for their business acumen. Only problem. You are sending jobs to IP thieves, who have a different agenda than yours.Yours may be to uplift their economy ,theirs is dethrone you as the world's superpower by hook or crook. Omofaye99: You made a good point. I also agree that zero tariffs on every product is unrealistic. While tariffs can play a role in addressing trade imbalances, relying on them as the sole solution is misguided. Like you stated many companies have moved manufacturing to countries like Vietnam and Canada, instead of bringing jobs back to the US. Why is that?
I think the focus should be on finding solutions that address the underlying issues prompting companies to manufacture abroad, Instead of resorting to blanket tariffs, which can harm American consumers and businesses. One of the biggest factors is unions and democrat policies especially on minimum wages. Don't know whether it passed ,gig workers were also on democrat radar in terns of wages and benefits .⁰ |

GloriousGbola: No I don't use raid. Not cost effective for me. I would have to have twice as many drives so I could do raid 1.
Right now I have 8 external data storage drives 8tb x 5,4tb x 3.so I would need double this and a really really large drive bay.
I did consider raid 0 once because it is supposed to double your file access speed, but that is what they call living dangerously.
Not sure how you recover from a disaster in such a situation
Actually it is very easy to block people from stealing data
Hard disk encryption and secure boot and block services like drop box
I have a microsoft account. I have set up the family in the same way Everyone in my family has their encryption keys automatically backed up to my account. So if I move a disk from one pc to another, all I need to do is log into my account to get the key.
I am currently doing same for our office. Setup a Microsoft company account so if I encrypt the drives I have access to the key.
On an enterprise level IT simply needs a policy or system for automatic backing up of the encryption keys
usb port blocking is either from os or from bios. If it is from os, boot the pc using a live disk and you have the files. That is the goal of secure boot. Blocking this loophole with secure boot running you can't boot another os. Of course this means supervisor password that is backed up somewhere. Our it then had no real secure data policy beyond blocking usb at os level
Modern devices can block usb from bios. It is for IT to enforce. A backup us only good if it works Believe you me I have so many different backups, on a weekend I restore them to VMs to make sure they will work . That's also the sane with encryption. You never know. I'm saying this from experience. As for RAID, I always ensure the OS disks are mirrored and both bootable . Frequent testing. That's for servers . I have Linux samba servers that I store backups too in the office. Storage is cheap nowadays. |

That's one or two hard drive partitioned. For him computer is for play. Plays games from 2004 😂😂 and he wants me to assume his system is powerful.
Now I know why gloriousgbola was acting like he knows anything about nnpc and why he said they don't employ IT guys 😂 As for preventing users from copying data ,that's a hard one. One can use encryption but if the AD database gets corrupt, you sweat bullets. Always tell staff , everything can be monitored and that's enough for nearly every employee. Locking down USB ports is so 2000. One can still open a document, copy and paste it elsewhere. It's a very tall order to prevent determined employee from siphoning data |

IjeBos: The detainees get due process. You sound like you don't understand what that means. More of a win for the Venezuelans than Trump no matter what your degenerate self thinks.
A wanna be immigrant against due process for immigrants. A nutty world with nutty people. Two rulings. Judge had ordered the gang member be brought back by midnight yesterday. Trump appeal was thrown out but SCOTUS CJ stayed the order . A judge demanded with a timeline for the govt to negotiate with a foreign govt . To return a potential criminal back to US soil.. This guy had lost all appeals and finally claimed assylum. Judge only ordered he should not be sent to El Salvador because his life would be in danger In the second ruling , SCOTUS by 5-4 ruling lifted the Restraining order of using the Invasion Act to deport The court also held that the president can use the Act , but the deportees would have a due process . But they are held in Texas, only a judge in Texas can listen to their pleadings. Not Boasberg in DC , court ruled basically he has no jurisdiction. I'll write more about him and his next step, which should be impeachement, disbarring. Plainly speaking a judge can sit on the runway and ask any Deportees under the act to show their visa as long as the govt can show he was a gang member so prescribed. It's absurd that anyone can cross the border illegally but To deport him an immigration judge has to Okay it. Joe Biden let in over 5 million ( possibly 12) illegals cross. There are 700 immigration judges to oversee removal of millions . That's a joke. Was a deliberate effort by Biden handlers to ship in illegals. Kamala would have given them citizenship or whatever legal status she could confer including voting rights. Conclusion. Democrats were importing voters. America escaped a bullet. |
