Most human or businessmen will willingly refuse more profits and more money.
Most business people who are honest will gladly pay less taxes. It is natural to want to keep more.
Apple will not willingly bring manufacturing to America to pay $10 per hour when he can pay $0.75 per hour in India and China

What happens to the millions here who need jobs, both educated and uneducated? They should just go and die so that other countries don't get upset?

How can we be in a world where all our manufacturing is done by a country like China, we saw what happened during covid when the American supply chain ground to a halt because we were s dependent on China.
Hypothetical war with China and they just shut off the manufacturing to America. Way to self sabotage your country

civil service jobs are mostly bloated and not efficient, Its just where people go to get free money and retire to fat salaries. They were subjected to 4 weeks of private sector practices ad they are all groaning
Much as this hurts the global economy , Trump is the first one to take a gigantic step to cut the trade deficit

Ha, the Trump admin are fxing dumbasses.
These figures are not tariffs other countries are charging us.
To get the "Tariff" number, they divided the country’s trade surplus with the US by its total exports (t_i = [x_i-m_i]/m_i).
Lol.
And then they tried to come up with some fancy looking formula to fool people like Bemeruca.
But if you notice in the denominator of the formula (below) two of the values(which they chose by happenstance (wink)) are .25 and 4 (which effectively cancel each other out [.25*4=1]).
It's like propaganda everyday with everything.

There you go. Trump tariffs on the top 10 countries exporting to Uncle Sam stands to raise $692 B in a year. Thats cheap change to me , I must add. Only $692B and Trump is vaccilating about increased revenues?
Back to AI. I've asked another chatbot the same question.

Total Value of Imports to America (2024)
Here are the top 10 countries exporting to the United States along with their import values:
Mexico: $509.96 billion
China: $462.62 billion
Canada: $421.21 billion
Germany: $163.39 billion
Japan: $148.1 billion
South Korea: $88.5 billion
United Kingdom: $76.5 billion
India: $66.5 billion
France: $54.2 billion
Italy: $50.3 billion
Summary
Total Imports: The total value of imports from these top 10 countries is approximately $2.1 trillion.
Estimated Tariff Revenue: If a 10% tariff is applied, the estimated revenue could be around $300 billion.

That's $692 bln raised from the American consumer offset by some demand destruction

In Dave Chappelle voice, "we like Nike trainers but we don't wanna make those shits. Keep those shits in China where it belongs".

In other words there are some products (majority of everyday products) that are just too cheap to insource. Only higher end automated engineering will relocate production (cars, chemicals etc). The hike in the rest of everyday products (clothing, food, niknaks) will be borne by the consumer
Who said prices won't rise. Those Americans spent $18.7 Trillion last year purchasing consumer goods and services Still low. 3.7% increase
Get me some prices of Growatt hybrid inverters 5-15KW from UK after a few weeks if status quo remains.

Question
What's the total value of imports to America. Better yet in the new tariff structure country based I'm sure you can compute the revenues to be raised per each country per tariff . Just do it for top 10 country exporters to America

Answer
Based on the latest available trade data and the new tariff structure announced under President Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs effective as of April 9, 2025, I’ll compute the total value of imports to the United States from the top 10 exporting countries and the estimated tariff revenues based on their respective tariff rates. The current date is April 3, 2025, and I’ll use 2024 import figures as the most recent full-year data, adjusted for the new tariff policies where applicable.
Total Value of Imports to the U.S.
In 2024, the total value of U.S. goods imports was approximately $3.2 trillion, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau data. This serves as the baseline for our calculations.
Top 10 Exporters to the U.S. (2024 Data)
Here are the top 10 countries exporting goods to the U.S. in 2024, based on available trade statistics, along with their import values and the applicable tariff rates under the new structure:
China: $536.3 billion
Tariff: 54% (20% existing + 34% reciprocal tariff effective April 9, 2025)

Mexico: $454.8 billion
Tariff: 25% (announced February 2025, effective March 4, 2025, no change noted for April)

Canada: $436.6 billion
Tariff: 25% (announced February 2025, effective March 4, 2025, no change noted for April)

Germany: $146.6 billion
Tariff: 20% (applied to EU countries under the new tariff hike)

Japan: $148.1 billion
Tariff: 24% (specific rate cited in recent policy updates)

South Korea: $131.5 billion (estimated from prior trends)
Tariff: 10% (baseline for non-specified countries under broad tariff threats)

Vietnam: $142.5 billion (estimated from growth trends)
Tariff: 46% (specific high rate cited for smaller nations in some analyses)

India: $104.2 billion (estimated from prior trends)
Tariff: 10% (baseline for non-specified countries)

Taiwan: $102.8 billion (estimated from prior trends)
Tariff: 10% (baseline for non-specified countries)

Italy: $78.5 billion (estimated from prior trends)
Tariff: 20% (applied to EU countries)

Tariff Revenue Calculations
Tariff revenue is calculated as:
Revenue = Import Value × Tariff Rate
China:
$536.3 billion × 54% = $289.602 billion

Mexico:
$454.8 billion × 25% = $113.7 billion

Canada:
$436.6 billion × 25% = $109.15 billion

Germany:
$146.6 billion × 20% = $29.32 billion

Japan:
$148.1 billion × 24% = $35.544 billion

South Korea:
$131.5 billion × 10% = $13.15 billion

Vietnam:
$142.5 billion × 46% = $65.55 billion

India:
$104.2 billion × 10% = $10.42 billion

Taiwan:
$102.8 billion × 10% = $10.28 billion

Italy:
$78.5 billion × 20% = $15.7 billion

Total Tariff Revenue from Top 10
Summing these values:
$289.602B + $113.7B + $109.15B + $29.32B + $35.544B + $13.15B + $65.55B + $10.42B + $10.28B + $15.7B = $692.416 billion
Notes
China’s Tariff: The 54% reflects the pre-existing 20% tariff from Trump’s second term plus the new 34% reciprocal tariff announced on April 2, 2025.

Mexico and Canada: The 25% rate was implemented in March 2025, with no further changes noted by April.

EU Countries (Germany, Italy): A 20% tariff applies as part of the EU-wide hike.

Japan and Vietnam: Specific rates (24% and 46%) are drawn from policy mentions, reflecting targeted adjustments.

Others (South Korea, India, Taiwan): A 10% baseline is assumed where specific rates aren’t detailed, aligning with Trump’s broad tariff threats.

These figures assume no significant import volume changes post-tariff imposition, though in reality, trade substitution or retaliation could adjust these revenues over time.

This yields an estimated $692.42 billion in tariff revenue from the top 10 exporters, a significant portion of the potential $1 trillion+ from all U.S. imports if fully applied across all trading partners.
There you go. Trump tariffs on the top 10 countries exporting to Uncle Sam stands to raise $692 B in a year. Thats cheap change to me , I must add. Only $692B and Trump is vaccilating about increased revenues?

Once in a life opportunity.
Grok tells me.

In the wake of President Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs, announced on April 2, 2025, imports from China to the United States will face a total tariff rate of 54%. This figure comes from a combination of existing tariffs and the newly imposed reciprocal tariffs. Specifically, the new policy includes a 34% reciprocal tariff on Chinese imports, which is added to the 20% tariff that was already in place from earlier measures during Trump's second term. These tariffs are part of a broader strategy to address trade imbalances and boost U.S. manufacturing, with the 34% reciprocal rate effective as of April 9, 2025, on top of the pre-existing 20%.
There wil be serious glut in products that suddenly won't have any buyers in America.
How does one take advantage. From toothpicks, handkerchiefs , electronics Chinese manufacturers will have products they can't sell. High quality products unlike say SQNY ( SONY), imitations Africa gets from China.
I'll cash in somehow. Where there is a will there is way and God never sleeps.

Matters arising.
Canada ready to drop to zero tarrif if America does.
Caveat .
Canada has aluminum and steel . They have to do it there from smelting plants . Otherwise Canada and Mexico have been hosting Chinese shops, who then sell to America duty free.
In an earlier order , Trump EO stated that every auto part has to be made in Mexico or Canada to attract 12.5% tariff. If any part of the car is imported then assembled there, it attracts another 25% . If Customs determine that many parts were imported but assembled in Canada or Mexico, the whole car is tariffed at 25%

The simple quesiton is, did Musk actually find the fraud, waste and cost savings they actually said they did?
And DOGE's site only tells us what they "claim" they found.
I'm personally not going to spend hours and days going through each claimed savings.
But the NYTimes and NPR did.
And they both wrote good investigative pieces detailing all the contracts Musk said he saved money by cutting.
Both pieces found a lot of what Musk claimed were lies or distortions.
They laid out the claim from their website, found the contract and actually showed whether it had been cancelled, was already cancelled or didn't add up to the savings Musk said.

An audit didn't have to take time with data tools available.
Give a data scientist the databases, within a few hours he/she can extract all details and visually map them out .Which is what the DOGE team did within a weekend at USAID.

For instance DOGE removed 6 million entries on Social Security if person's aged 120 years, who had been marked active. Yet the excuse was the system doesn't pay if you are 115. Why have over those aged over 120 in the system then?

As I suggested earlier there will be indictments.
