Yes, I would have assumed what you thought, but I've had a couple of experiences that taught me otherwise. The only time I think you won't get stopped is when in a convoy of expensive cars w/ a Helix in front.
I've been pulled over in the East in my Dad's Mercedes SUV by road safety, while an overloaded bus, with mis-matched tires spewing black smoke was in front of me and didn't get stopped. By you theory who should have road safety pulled over?
And as you've mentioned I've been in that dangerous situation (out of movie) where someone attempted to stop me at a checkpoint while I had a mopo/soldier in the passenger seat in a tinted car. They quickly let us pass as the driver slowed down and the mopo opened the window and pulled up his gun.
I've been pulled over a couple of times while driving an expensive car in Lagos. I've been pulled over with my girl while she drove her expensive car in Lagos. I drove to the east one year from Lagos and we took my cousin's Sienna instead of a nicer car. And what was funny, though we got pulled over some (Christmas), the guy in front of us, was driving a Brand New red Mercedes GLE. And every checkpoint he would stop, roll down his window, drop cash and drive off. Lol. Because he knew it was more efficient than being forced to stop, arguing your case and saving 1or 2k. We kept laughing everything we saw him do that.
The difference from my experience is that they are somewhat more careful pulling over nicer cars. Like I can be somewhat more abusive with them esp. given my accent, because they aren't sure who I am.

Speaks to why African Americans get more sub-standard health care than their white counterparts even from African American Doctors. The fact that the police officers were black does not exonerate them from racism. Black Lives Matter is fighting against institutional racism and not individual racism. They accuse the US police of being racist against blacks. Those black police officers cannot try that shit with a white man or woman. Lots of blacks hate fellow blacks and process the same mindset as a white nationalist/KKK/far right extremist. Even on nairaland lots of Nigerians hate anything black and always promote the white narrative and agenda - culturally, politically or socially. I think these are vestiges of slavery and colonalisation, in which few blacks were given white privilege in exchange for helping the enslavers/colonialists oppress his people.

As an example of how someone can hate his own people, I have a childhood friend when went to the US after this secondary education. He became very successful working in Telecoms in the US. He married a black American. He came to Nigeria when his dad died. I went for the burial as I was very close to the family. I asked him how he relates to Nigerians in the US, he told me he never relates to Nigerians because he believes all Nigerians are scammers. In effect he hates Nigerians. I was shocked. After his dad's death this guy abandoned his siblings who are struggling to survive. I never saw or heard from him again.
