PoliticsRe: Kano By-Election: APC's Rabiu Wins Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by bayplus: 5:42pm On Jun 21
DeLaRue:
Structure is a key advantage for APC, and PDP.

Even as broken as PDP is, there are still millions of ardent PDP supporters up and down the country. They grew up with it. It is all they know.

APC is getting to that level of inalienable support too because it too has been around for a while now.

However, new parties like NDC, and ADC are simply not well known to people in towns and villages in many parts of the country.

That's a big disadvantage for them going into the 2027 elections.
Kwakwanso defeated APC in 2023 with relatively unknown party- NNPP?

This logic doesn't hold water to reasonable people.

Nigerians will vote for any party if the mobilization is thorough.

APC defeated an incumbent president of PDP nationwide in 2015, barely a year after it was formed in 2014.

The truth is, nearly all the opposition parties are working for the Tinubu by their lazy and inactive mobilization.

They have been telling us everything wrong with Tinubu, but refused to tell us what they will do differently and how?

They cannot even unite against the incumbent. They want Nigerians to chose them but not ready to put in the works

Nigeria is gone.
Gone!!!
Gone.
Never!

Nigeria is not gone.

The criminals among us should be gone.

These criminals are within Katsina, they have friends, brothers and sisters in Katsina giving them information about important people in town. It is foolish to believe govt can defeat criminals if majority of the citizens are accomplices to the criminals. Because they get crumps from the proceeds of crimes.

How logical do you all think is for a federal govt to solve every kidnapping and banditry across Nigeria when many of these same people crying blue murder are relatives of the criminals?

Banditry and Kidnapping thrives because many citizens and security agent officers are willing collaborators.

I ask, who do we expect to rescue the General? Tinubu, the over-streched army or the Katsina state governor?

What efforts do we have within local govt and state govt to provide intelligence for the federal army to deliver?

All over the world, citizens help law enforcement agencies with critical information to prosecute criminals and nip them in the board.

Those who enable the criminals to thrive will be consumed by the consequences of the same criminality they encouraged.

If local govt and state govt are determined to pursue every criminality in their territory, the criminals will be forced out. But those who benefit from them are the ones protecting them.

The security conundrum will require the commitment and patriotism of every Nigerian. No president or govt can do it alone.

I am not interested in the APC, ADC OR NDC.

Politics is there but we should not allow politicians to use innocent citizens' blood as ponds to settle scores
BusinessRe: Kano, Not Lagos, Built Foundations Of Dangote, Rabiu’s Success — Sanusi by bayplus: 7:26pm On Jun 12
Ironfaceman:
Neither Kano or Lagos should be credited for dangotes wealth, except the person is being mischievous.

Dangote was sole beneficiary of Cement waivers and made bastard money from

Obajana Cement Plant Kogi State
Ibese Cement Plant Ogun State
Gboko Cement Plant Benue State
Okpella Cement Plant Edo State
Itori Cement Plant Ogun State

Lagos and Kano where just logistics offices
So you think Dangote is rich based on these low margin Cement factories?

So The Dangote Sugar refinery in Apapa, lagos.
The Dangote petro chemicals and fertilizer refinery in lekki both of which has given him more money and opportunities do not count?
Where is Dantata ? Dangote's Uncle that was purported to have given him a loan of N500,000 in the 70's to start Cement importation business.

Success has many families, failure has none. If Kano is that prolific as Sanusi want us to believe, he should list more billionaires who are Kano based and not politicians apart from Dangote and Isiyaku Rabiu.

May be then we can believe him.

Bua sugar refinery are all located in lagos.

Dangote was down and almost out of business during Yar'adua administration. Check majority of his associates and workers. There are not many northerners. He would have long gone out of relevant if not the quality of the associates he has from other regions. Remember Obasanjo sold Kaduna refinery to him and otedola, Yar'adua revoked the acquisition and Kaduna refinery has been the same sorry State since then.

Despite the success we see from outside, it has been an uphill battle for him to rise. We were all witnesses to what a fellow northerner, farouk of NUPRC did to him and his refinery. You can all fill the gap yourself.

Jokers, he's retired.

Make Donald Trump reason their matters fess.

A community leader, Haruna Mai Maganin Kwari Batsari, said the retired officer was expected in the town on the day of the incident to discuss community matters.

Planned attack/Ambush
Very few people can truly comprehend what is going on in Nigeria and why it has become hydraheaded to resolve the insecurity.

This bandits has fellow Nigerians working for them as informants, they have powerful politicians in every community shielding them from prosecution. If the military attack them, you see villagers who benefit from the ransom collected by the bandits on the television crying that they are innocent.

If religious leader like sheik Gumi can openly support bandits, it tells a lot about the tribal and religious dimension of the insecurity challenge we have.

If Trump becomes the president of Nigeria and deploy the entire US military assets to fight insecurity here, it will be futile as long as Nigerians are willing to work with the criminals in the night and cry blue murder in the morning. These criminals have infiltrated the security agencies with their sympathizers who share the next move of govt to them in advance. How do you fight outside enemies when you have more people within your team working for the enemies?

There is no difference among the top political parties we have. But we can't stomach the truth
Very true!

Same of Same.

Tinubu is unlikely to win the 2027 by performance. Especially his disregard for Nigerians and their sufferings. If I am to rate him, I will objectively give him 39.5%.

That said, no one among the other contenders can do better in my honest assessment.

Atiku, Obi, Kwakwanso, Jonathan or Makinde.

We need serious reformer that is selfless.

I do not know tomorrow but if the antecedents, personalities and characters of these contenders are subjected to thorough analysis and scrutiny, these guys will do worst.

The Nigeria and Nigerians Jonathan left in 2015 is far better than now.

Merely changing the faces of the criminals in aso rock will never change the country. They are all greedy bunch taking turns to steal us dry.

Many Zombies are still routing for one of these others to take over without thorough assessment.

Just like a couple who care more about the "one day" wedding than the marriage itself.

If another "useless banga" enters Aso Rock, we will begin to kneel down again.

Tinubu and the rest of the presidential candidates are the worst of us..

The real, Selfless and sincere Nigerians who can lead this country with fear of God cannot afford to waste N100million naira to buy ordinary nomination form.

Only those who have stacked up "stolen wealth" wealth can spend such humongous amount on election and Nigerians too are making financial demands in advance. So do not blame politicians for recouping their investments if you only want to vote for those who can pay you to vote.

If VDM is asking us not to vote APC, which in my opinion is a good advice. We should ask him, where is genuine alternative? I cannot see any one.

Is it the same greedy opposition that has failed to unite?

May be we will get it right when AI can think for us all, as it is, the common sense is very scarce in Nigeria. We have suffered for far too long to continue to experiment different unfortunate politicians who keep destroying the future of Nigeria. Imagine if Buhari did not become the president 1n 2015, we would have thought we missed a military general who would have dealt with Boko haram and other insecurity. But here we are.

Tinubu is slightly the "Cleanest among the dirty shirts currently in our country's wardrobe, he does not deserve Second term but no one else good enough to truly make significant difference. . Tinubu will not win competitive election if there is a united front against him, but the opposition are giving him the trophy by their actions and greed.

Getting a skill is fine but a graduate becoming a brick layer and Barber doesn't sound cool to me.
Why does it not sound cool?

What if the goal is to have a chain of branded barbing salon?

A graduate bricklayer can end up becoming a structural engineer or take further career path in any of the numerous fields in the construction industry and be the best in the market.

What is not "cool" is if he remains a bricklayer more than one or two years.

We do not need to look down on little beginning. Dangote said he worked in Kano and Iddo loading beans into trucks. A bricklayer today can buy the same mansion he built for others in years to come.

Where you start doesn't matter, staying too long there is what should be discouraged.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: "Nigeria, Did I Offend You?" - Man Asks 4 Years After NYSC Without A Job by bayplus: 8:05am On May 12
I read through all the comments above and I can see some meaningful and practical advice offered by those who were once in similar situation years back and are now doing better.

In the same vein, I read the comments of some people who cannot situate problems properly and will blame federal government or their village people for their inability to get their wives pregnant.

Please note, I am not a fan of Tinubu or APC, I think they have done well in some areas but woefully in many other areas.

That said, 98% of fresh graduates rarely get jobs immediately after service. We have millions of graduates leaving our universities every year and joining those already in the labour market, that shows a very tough competition. Many do not even prepare ahead by learning new skills during holidays. Volunteer to work with experience mentors.

The gentleman has not told us his class of degree and course of study, I was once a fresh graduate, an employee, i also worked in human resources dept and finally an employer.

The perspective changes as I move into each of these stages in life. And wvwry perspective is justifiable.

It is an illusion and very delusional to expect the country to provide job for you. No country has enough jobs to go round. Except where strict communism is the order of the day like North Korea and we all see the quality of life from afar. No one has a say in anything.

Back to the issue, I went through same ordeal as a graduate in the 90's. WAEC Conducted tests for over half a million of us on behalf of this same First Bank, we had several other interviews until we were shortlisted to 80 graduate trainees. and the military was in power then, The last stage of the interview was conducted at the headquarters (Asabia House). A lady ask if i know any one powerful enough to help me stay in the game. That brilliancy is no longer useful, at that stage what they require is either you can get a big business man or woman who can do mega business with the bank or powerful politicians who can move large govt funds into first bank. That was when the new generation banks like Zenith, GTB, Diamond were springing up. I had no one to help and I lost out.

The issue is,millions of graduates have a wrong mindset of what being a university graduate means. Yes, it means you are more enlightened, you can and you should be reasonable in your assessment of issues. However, it is not and will never be a meal ticket.

Most Fresh graduates are unemployable, this young man will remain in the labour market if he doesn't change his mindset, as an employer, we see graduates who know next to nothing wants to be paid 500k or 800k per month. Yet some secondary graduate will do a far better job than them, they do not take the initiative to improve their situation, They are always on Tiktok, facebook, instagram etc to consume content and while away their lives, they detest anything that will take them out of their comfort zones, they are not motivated to learn ,even if it will be a volunteer service that you can add to your CV.

They are unwilling to learn new skills, they do not want to learn any vocational skills, they just want money to spend. There are free courses about anything online, a graduate of any field can do teaching job, including home coaching, can learn new skills free including digital marketing, project management etc online. Can even get remote job abroad.

This guy lack capacity and mindset to help the would-be employer, anyone who cannot improve himself, cannot help the employer, they will be a liability. Employers do not need staff who is desperate for job, they need people who can add value to their company and take it higher. And people who can add value to others usually start from themselves.

Even if he gets a job, he is highly likely going to lose the job with his current mindset. He has a sense of entitlement, that he has served Nigeria well in 9months of NYSC, therefore, he should automatically get a job out of the millions who probably did better. For the same university education he got here for peanut, he will pay the student loan for the rest of his life if it were in America, you may argue about the quality though.

We give too much importance to govt in our lives and that makes the govt feel important and trample on our rights as citizens.

When an average Nigerian realizes that no one is coming to help him, not govt, not family nor friends, his perspective to get up and start doing something legit fot himself will change for the better.

Time is life, 24hrs is not enough to some of us, much less waste 4years waiting. I developed many skills while I was an undergraduates, I learned Hair Cuts (Barbing) for men, floor and wall Tiling, electrical technician, House Paint production and also paint houses, I learnt Aluminum window production & installation in Dopemu, it was the period of transitionfrom louvres windows to Aluminium then, I learn tailoring from my late father and many more then.

I finally went to Automedics in Agidingbi to learn Auto-mechanics even as a businessowner with 10units 40ft trucks. It was very inconvenient for me every evening, including weekends but I had to, because the auto mechanics were ripping me off big time, so to stop that I needed to know more. And the knowledge i got protected me and my trucks afterwards. I bought scanner and I could detect faults and what parts to be replaced.

My point is, your asset is what you know and you can do, not a sheet of paper called certificate. It is the responsibility of every individual to make themselves useful to the society in anyway possible, not the responsibility of the society. There are billions of people all over the world without education of any sort. If you have been one of the few lucky ones to acquire university education, is there a reasonable justification to wait for govt or Nigeria to make yourself useful to the society?

All politicians are the same, I don't take them serious including obi, Atiku , Tinubu etc
Yes all politicians are the same because 90% of Nigerians are like the politicians, we glorify and elevate personalities based on tribe and religion.

We judge fellow Nigerians based on where he or she comes from. Check all our govt institutions, who are the ones working in the hospitals?, in the schools?, in the police force? At the Airports, Seaports, In customs, PHCN, PENGASSAN, in CBN? Emefiele who corruptly built 753 duplexes will complain things are not working, Accountant General who siphoned N140billion naira, Former Minister of Power who was just sentenced this week for stealing N33billion meant for power will condemn poor electricity in Nigeria as members of opposition.

NNPC is rotten today because of bad Nigerians. We are having insecurity because of bad Nigerians. No country in the world can survive if just 5% of their population go in to crimes. What is the total combined population of all the security agencies to deal with a society where everyone thinks only their survival matters? The Bandits, Boko Haram, Kidnappers, Ritualists, armed robbers, Yahoo plus gang, Producers of fake and Adulterated products killing and damaging people's kidneys, those who import fake break pads leading to accidents etc are all Nigerians they are not ghosts, If an average citizen does not think it is bad to make money by destroying fellow Nigerians, what manner of security forces can resolve that? Govt at all levels have their roles to play but the biggest responsibility is ours as citizens. We are not sincere and we do not truly desire the change.

Those People who criticized the govt of Buhari, Obasanjo, Jonathan's yesterday are keeping quiet now because Tinubu is their brother or they know somebody who is benefitting from the status quo, tomorrow when another man from another region comes in, people from that region will keep quiet and we want a true change?

Politicians know we are largely gullible people and with some money, they can get enough stupid people to vote and rig for them. Those who know better are in the minority. A politician once said, it is cheaper and less stressful to target the voters in the rural areas, they ask less questions, they are ok with a derica tin of rice and N1000 naira but those in the cities will ask so many questions, insult you and your forefathers and will still demand a fortune just for one vote.

We are looking for an angel in Aso Rock who can turn Nigeria to Dubai but we want to continue in our evil ways.We can change Tinubu to Obi and Atiku or bring Trump from America or Putin from Russia, if we do not see ourselves as Nigerians first and protect each other's well being regardlessof tribe or religion, nothing will change even if the faces of occupants of Aso Rock keep changing, because our leaders are byproducts of our larger society. And a fruit cannot drop too far from its tree.

We must destroy the enemies within us, Enemies of greed, survival mode, destroy others to make money at all costs, tribalism, religious politics etc

We must be the change you want to see.

This is exactly my point.

I feel sorry for all those engaging in ethnic banters over elections that the real Nigerians regardless of tribe do not benefit, only their families and cronies enjoy their administration.

Check history of all the past leaders, both military and civilians.

From my observation, the tribe of all the past presidents tend to suffer more when their brother is in power.

I ask, has Jonathan ascendancy to power significantly changed the conditions of Ijaw people or Niger Deltans?

Has an average Hausa-Fulani been better off as a tribe ? Are yorubas doing much better economically now?

Will an average Igbo, be much better off when Obi gets to power?

Our religious and ethnic biases have given root to our problem as a nation,

Just imagine Nigeria playing as a team on the field with the best 11 available from any tribe. Strictly based on merit.

We will all be far better.

Changing the faces of politicians will not achieve a better result, it will worsen it.

If Obi wins, he will still work with the likes of Malami, Aregbeshola, El rufai etc who were part of the Buhari administration. The jury is out there on their performance.

We cannot continue to do things same way and expect a different result. That is call madness or "delulu"

We need the youths who can build a new Nigeria with long and medium term vision. Not immediate gain.

They will build from grass root, taking over local govts. After some about 10yrs, they move to states and eventually go for the federal.

But this idea of waking up 8months to election and everyone wants to be president and no one is willing to build and sacrifice will keep us in a worse mess than we are currently in.

A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Now we are likely to have APC, And scattered opposition across NDC, ADC, LP and possibly more.

And you all expect a different result?

Good luck to you all.

I refuse to be part of the "Delulus"

Anyway na Jonathan mumu sha …. With his presidency, he would’ve dealt with the opposition
These are some of the divisive comments that has polarized the country and as long as people like you turn nigeriain politics to tribal issue, the politicians win.

Jonathan is an Ijaw man, he has moved on, yorubas we're not direct beneficiaries of Jonathan's defeat. If you have true sense of memory. The likes of Atiku and the 5pdp governors like Amaechi and Co teamed up with the north and southwest to defeat Jonathan.

Goodluck gave all the best of his administration to the Igbos. Yorubas were marginalized, even south-south was marginalized during jonathanto the Igbos enjoyed. Yorubas did not complained, they teamed up to defeat him.

While I do not believe in tribal politics, it is an ill wind that blows no one any good.

As much as the igbos love to insult yorubas, we had more prominent yorubas who supported Obi in 2023 and a whole lot of yoruba youths voted for Obi too.

But the obidients believe they are so many, their votes alone can take Obi to Aso Rock and if that does not happen, the election must have been rigged.

Those who insult other tribes for political reasons are all part of the problem. Every nigerian regardless of tribe they come from will face same economic challenges. How many Ijaws have become better since Jonathan?, were the northerners any better when Buhari was in power? Or what percentage of yorubas were appointed by Tinubu apart from his cronies when he was the governor of lagos? And may be a handful supporters and agberos.

I will vote for a genuine, intelligent and committed leader regardless of his tribe.

This tribalism and religious sentiments is denying us credible leadership.

Instead of asking the candidates what can they do differently.

We are all shouting "Emilokan!"

It is south turn, it is south east turn etc.

The young generation needs to move away from this shackles, otherwise nothing will change.

Those people you mentioned came from SouthSouth but grew up in Ajegunle or relocated to lagos.

Fact is fact, no matter how it is twisted. Before Living in Bondage, There were already several celluloid film makers in the southwest like Hubert Ogunde, Duro Ladipupo, Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala) etc. Yoruba culture aligns with parties and entertainment on weekends, hence why there are more successful traditional musicians always busy on weekends. Even the mushroom ones.
Yorubas patronize musicians and entertainment generally much more than other tribes in Nigeria due to cultural reasons.

For years you are not able to sell electricity to your huge population and make money as a government, all you do is tax tax and tax

It’s somehow shameful

Please made amendments
I can't agree less with you.

We have very incompetent and visionless leadership across the country both at local, state and federal level.

What does it take a serious govt to create a Public Private Partnership to raise private money to buy as many busses as possible and put them on the BRT Roads to generate income for the investors.

In actual fact, what we need across Nigeria is not even busses but trains criss-crossing the states and the country, with our population density, and potential to drive our economy to higher growth, it is obvious that the governments at all levels cannot meet the infrastrural development require by Nigerians in 2026, certainly not at this miserable pace, when Nigerians will have to queue for 2 to 3hours to get a BRT Bus cannot be an acceptable standard.

BRT is not cost effective, a single train can have 30coaches and each coach can accommodate 120 passengers. And it will be faster and cheaper, our so called leaders go abroad and see all these but they are too busy with politics to think of governance.

The stockmarket is awashed with institutional investors looking for viable investment opportunities to invest in, why these state govts cannot harness these investors with incentives beats my imagination.

President Bola Tinubu is only showing gratitude to Obasanjo for helping him to win 2023 presidential election.

Regardless of their past relationship, if not for Obasanjo and Doyin Okupe (May God Rest His Soul) Atiku/Obi presidency would have given PDP the "Comeback" to power as Buhari was not too keen on Tinubu becoming his successor then.

Obasanjo will do anything to prevent Atiku to get into power and he knew the combo of Atiku and Obi will leave Tinubu in the dust, especially with the tacit support of Buhari to a northern successor. It was strategic move to take out Peter Obi to go Solo and fragment the opposition and that eventually weakened the opposition.

Imagine if Atiku and Obi combined their votes. Your guess is as good as mine.

Tinubu has shown that strategy beats noisemaking.

Many xtians may not have voted massively for Atiku/Obi candidacy but the likelihood of defeating a disaster govt like Buhari was high then.

And for those who do not understand how the economy works, the consequences of yesterday's mismanagement by Jonathan and Buhari is what we are facing today, every enlightened and well informed Nigerian knew we were already bankcrupt when Buhari handed over. It was all packaged to kick the can down the road. The Buhari's finance minister cried out they were in serious financial crisis, Emiefele was printing money recklessly and you all want a thriving economy overnight?

Politics aside, we all know to destroy is easier than to build, I am no supporter of any political party.

My mission is to educate those who can reflect and the brainless will still insult. It is expected. But it will not change the fact. Those who think Obasanjo hates tinubu and APC should go check which party iyabo obasanjo is working for now.

What a shame. A disgraced country for a reason. Tinubu and Buhari will be remembered as men who destroyed Nigeria.
Is it not ironic?

Same Nigerians (Especially bittered ones amongst us) love to denigrate and call their only country they have "A Zoo" and when the rest of the world see how we ridicule our country and do the same through our passport and we still behave like an Ostrich.

When Nigerians will go to other countries illegally, involve in Drugs, Fraud etc. When many nigerians aid criminality in their daily lives, would you blame other countries avoiding our presence in their society?

Even when you admonish some of them to stay away from activities that will damage Nigeria's reputation abroad, they are quick to tell us to mind our business, as you were not the one who got the visa for them to travel.

Forgetting that whatever anyone carrying that passport does, it will hunt the over 200million of others.

The problem is Nigerians, may be because we are the most populated African country, we seem to have the good, the bad and the worst among us, and those worst ones are everywhere spoiling the image of the country for the rest of us sharing similar passport with them.

These criminal elements are in every majority or minority tribes. So no tribe is immune to this characters.

Most of these other countries do not even apply for foreign visas.

It is these same nigerians that will go and apply for visa in other west Africa countries when the appointmentdate from the embassiesin Nigeria are too far

Until we look in the mirror and amend our ways, we may continue having this image challenge.

Those who want to traffic drugs, human traficckers, Yahoo guys etc should remember that your negative actions and inactions will come to hunt the entire country including generations yet unborn.

When we are all ready to be a good ambassador of our country, we will rank among the best not only in Africa but in the world.

They are not smart, probably why they ended up as security guards.
Haven't they stayed long enough at the job to know that CCTV covers all activities there?
Hmmmm.

You think being smart is the issue?

Integrity is the issue here. Some people including the writer says they guys lost their job because of 20k.

These two comments reveal a disturbing thought process.

Please bear in mind, the smartest of criminals will always get caught, however long it takes. A criminal is one mistake away from being caught. Crime doesn't pay.

Secondly, they didn't lose their job because of 20k, they lost it because they lack trust and integrity, such may even arrange for the bank to be robbed.

They must have been doing it before they eventually got nabbed.

Money can do so much but it is better to earn it legitimately and with peace of mind

If you compare some of these current politicians and this woman you'll realize she's a saint.
So, UK should leave her alone?

And tomorrow you will cry to high heaven that Nigeria has failed his citizens when they do not get adequate Healthcare, support or Education etc.

Because there are bigger thieves yet to be prosecuted, so we should leave he small ones alone?

Nigerians are indeed the problems of Nigeria. They worship their oppressors foolishly.

It may seem insignificant now but gradually the Southwest is beginning to lose its edge that Awolowo bestowed on the region with regards to education. The heroes their youth worship on social media are the ones without an education. In its place, there's beginning to be a proliferation and tacit support for Internet fraud, prostitution, thuggery, forceful begging and other vices. It's time for self introspection and a hard reset.
I bet to disagree.

You cannot have any society with 100% compliance.

The likes of Peller have been around for ages, he may not have been academically gifted. If not for social media, his likes will end up being an artisan. Which not bad. But thank God for Social Media.

If you check JAMB and university admission intake every year, you will still see a growing trend in the south west in terms of numbers. I am not talking about the highest score student oh. Because comprehension is a challenge for some bigots.

Southwest is also the headquarters of Artisans, Auto technicians, Electricians. Etc, if you go to any part of Nigeria, especially in the nothern region, and even as far as Abidjan, you will realise majority of the Auto technicians are from Southwest.

You need the combination of academic and technical skills to build a nation.

Back to Peller, those who think education is a scam because they have made some quick and unsustainable incomem mostly through social media will soon learn their lessons down the line. Like the bible say "A fool and his money, will soon depart each other".
PoliticsRe: Sachet Alcohol Ban Threatens Five Million Jobs, Distillers Warn NAFDAC by bayplus: 8:14am On Jan 24
bunmioguns:
This is a very tricky situation for the country right now.

On one hand, you have to look at the economic implications. At a time when the cost of living is high and companies are already leaving Nigeria, shutting down an entire sector that employs over 5 million people (directly and indirectly) could be devastating.

These unions have a point, massive job losses usually lead to increased insecurity.

On the other hand, we can't ignore why NAFDAC and the Senate are pushing for this. The 'sachet culture' has made hard liquor too affordable and accessible to minors and even school children. The environmental impact of these small plastics is also a major issue.

The middle ground should probably be stricter regulation and enforcement of age limits rather than an outright ban that kills local industries.

If they can regulate big bottles, they should find a way to monitor the distribution of these smaller ones without throwing millions of people into the labor market.

Both the government and the distillers need to sit down and find a compromise that protects both jobs and public health.
The outright ban is the most efficient and effective solution.

How do you regulate distribution? How do you monitor how many kids can access it? The entire Civil servants in both federal and all the states in Nigeria including police and army will not be sufficient to monitor the distribution.

There is no 5million jobs to protect anywhere. It is a lie. Before the advent of sachet liquor, all these companies were in existence. Their major consumers now are the secondary school students and bus drivers while on steering.

To allow these enemy of progress is to destroy the future of innocent children just because some few shameless people who obviously have alternative sizes to produce want to make bigger profits at the expense of the lives of our children and passengers who may become endangered when the drivers are high on Alomo.

We want business to thrive, we need value added businesses not destructive ones like drugs wrapped in the name of sachet drinks. I think NDLEA should even go after all these manufacturers of these destructive substances.

I ask, what are the benefits of consuming these sachet drinks?

Imagine the audacity to protest the ban of a particular size affecting the minors! Do these people have children at all.

May be Yahoo Boys, Ritualists, kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Bandits and Suicide Bombers too will soon carry placards to protest the military attacks will destroy 50million jobs!

Of what economic benefits are jobs that destroy the lives of millions. Drug pushers can justify their activities too based on how many jobs they can provide.

This is arrant nonsense and those guys who went for the protest should bury their heads in shame because they would not want their children to be part of the victims.

how do you decongest Lagos? Let Federal characters be felt in other zones such as seaports, International Airports, Embassies, Multinational companies and Lagos will automatically be decongested.
Not sure the above recommendations will suffice to decongest lagos.

Those who are old enough to know the lagos before the federal government relocated to Abuja will tell you, nothing significant has changes and it is the same all over the world. From Indian, to Brazil, to South Africa and so on, Beijing has not stopped the growth of Shanghai. New York is equally congested.

The common traits is that, humans prefer to gravitate towards an already developed environment than to be part of the suffering communities waiting for power, roads, and other infrastructures to pass through their communities.

Quality of life is the driving force.

And you will see that for every single family moving out of the city, another 5 or more are demanding for a space to stay in the same city.

The solution is affordable and reliable efficient inter-modal transportation. That will include by water, by road (Mass transit not Danfo) and by good quality, medium speed trains.

A right thinking state like lagos can achieve that seamlessly if they will adopt private public partnership. Imagine if Lagos and Ogun state collaborate with private capital to build rail tracks and coaches from Ogijo to Marina, from Ifo-idi-iroko Shango-ota to Marina and this rail lines can get to marina in 30mins.

And another one from Ibadan to Ojota in 40mins.

You will be amazed how many people will prefer to live in Ogun or oyo state.

And private capital will be deployed under build, own and transfer back to government after 30 or 35yrs as it is done in other climes.

But we rather borrow money we cannot pay back from China and build rail track to Niger republic for political reasons instead of economic.

When we have good and efficient transport network, people would move on their own.

But the current structure where states and federal wants to fund everything through reckless borrowing because of corruption. Will keep us at the same level.

What I worry about is favourable terms and conditions that will benefit the host communities and Nigerians at large.

Hype and propaganda party. It is almost 3 years since they took over from Buhari yet nothing has improved regarding the issuance of passports.
That's a fat lie!

I am no fan of APC, but I have applied, paid and booked physical capturing appointments all done online for myself, family and friends too. And all received their passports without paying anything extra.

The truth of the matter is, many immigration officers who have built their lives around bribes are frustrating the efforts in-house. If you go to their office to capture, they will ask you "who is handling your job?", if You claim nobody. They will ask you to check back in 3months but if you mention a staff, they will ask you to check back in two weeks.

Often times, these passports are ready but out of greed and deliberate means to frustrate those Nigerians who prefer not to bribe.

So we cannot blame govt for everything otherwise we will be seen as "brainless critics".

Most problems we face in Nigeria are largely created by Nigerians to exploit fellow and innocent Nigerians and yet they turn around to blame govt.

I won't be surprised if we have kidnappers, bandits and terrorists here who are part of those criticizing the govt over insecurity.

We do not realise how our individual greeds creates national disaster for everyone of us.

Like they say, what goes around, comes around.

If you believe Nigeria is a "cursed and disgraced country" what does that tell about you?.

It is foolish to transfer your hatred of the current occupant of Aso Rock to the entire country as if Nigeria is same as Tinubu.

Many who criticized Nigeria from outside, will still beg the same Nigeria to come to their rescue for evacuation when there is a problem.. we remember those who were caught in the Russia-Ukrain War.

Even if you wish to change your nationality in the future, as at today, you breathe, eat and live Nigeria. Is that not enough to be grateful for? Is there any country without challenges in this world?

Where is the foolish Giant of Africa?
Here you go!

No country is self sufficient in everything.

None of these country is up to 100million in population.

A family of 4 and a family of 14 can not have same quality of life.

You think the same efforts required to provide food for 2 people will be required to provide for 20people?

We can do better. I provide my own electricity because I can afford it.

It is almost 2years since power generation, transmission and distribution has been decentralized. Why have the state governors not increasing the generation and distribution in their states?

This degeneration of power infrastructures did not happen overnight and can not be fixed over night.

But regardless, we are still the Giant of Africa and we will forever be.

Other countries know we are. Only those among us who could not see deeper and are only fixated on the problems instead of opportunities are the ones always seeing and talking down on their fatherland as foolish.

When you insult your entire family outside, you fail to realise that the "Real shame is not on them, it is on you".

Because next time, all of you will get the insults from the neighborhood. Then it would be too late to reverse.

If you are a citizen of a "foolish country", what does that make you?

You can answer that yourself

I'm not even surprised that Nigeria under tinubu made the list ...

Look at the countries that made the list, they are Islamic terrorists countries . Nigeria isn't an Islamic country but she made the list.

South Africa is the new giant of Africa . Nigeria has since lost the position to south Africa .
There is a name they give children who discredit their family house with left hand.

Some of you get excited about every negative issues associated with Nigeria. Yet you all carry the same identity and passports.

Have you pondered to ask.

"Who suffers if Nigeria gets worst?

"Who benefits when Nigeria gets better?"

I was recently in China and I met a lot of our brothers from the East living in Guanzghou-China complaining about how the Chinese immigration are exploiting them heavily just to grt residency permit

They said unlike other African countries, the Nigeria Embassy is not helping for fight for them.

There are consequences of demarketing your country just because you hate the govt in power.

If Tinubu leaves tomorrow morning, you think Nigeria's image will return immediately.

Wise people know it is easy to destroy than to re-build.

We can de-market Tinubu's govt but let us all know must of us do not have another country for now.

You all should desist from doing this to our beloved country. Nigeria has enormous challenges but equally have enormous potentials and until you travel out before you appreciate the difference despite the challenges.

Ask those in Europe, Canada and so on.

It could be far much better but we are not the worst. I do not think we should be on this list.

Benin Republic , Mauritania,Uganda, Yemen, iraq, Belarus, should be included and many more.

But most western data and statistics are always biased against Africa. Only the gullibles take them serious.

Better go wash your brain. This tribalistic outlook of the world can not help you. The politicians you are defending so badly have bonds and dealings that transcend tribes and religions...they know where they meet at midnight to eat from the same plate.

They stir up religion and tribalism to keep folks like you distracted...while they steal you blind.

Fashola is not any different from the other Nigerian politicians.
The real problem here is that average nigerian is expecting a Saint in leadership but are not different from their leaders if given the opportunity.

Many here complaining about government do not exist in their street.

Our leaders are our mirrors.

No leader is perfect and neither can you. If you used to respect Babatynde Fashola and you no longer respect him because he went to politics. Not that you have practical evidence of his malfeasance or misconduct or stealing while in office.

Yet you no longer respect him.

That sends a bad signal to credible Nigerians who cares and can help clean up the polity that they will lose their credibility, even if they did their best, just for participantion.. This is why they say "Politics is a very dirty game". Yet you all want Saints to participate.

The same Nigerians who will arrange special jamb centre's for their kids will complain govt is not doing anything to fix education.

They are the ones who will remove iron drainage covers and guide from a newly built road and bridges, rail tracks etc.

Have you wondered why the previous govts always better than the current govt?

Because we continue to grow in bad character as a nation.

It is not about individuals, a nation is built by every member of the country called citizens.

We all can stay behind our keyboards and type what we feel is wrong with our country but until we all see it as a collective responsibility regardless of who is in power, things may not get better anytime soon.

Do your bits and I will do my bit too.

I always ask
