Nigeria SPEAKER inspects Dome Isolation Centre Donated by Chairman This Day Newspaper in Abuja
COVID-19: Gbajabiamila inspects FCT isolation centre
…expresses satisfaction over facility
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over efforts put together by some stakeholders to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Gbajabiamila spoke when he paid an inspection visit to one of the isolation centres in FCT located at the Thisday Dome, where he noted that the action by the Sahara Group, Thisday Media Group and CCECC who put resources together for the conversion of the event centre to an over 300-bed isolation centre was commendable and worthy of emulation.
The Speaker, who was accompanied by Chairmen of the House Committees on Health Service, Health Institutions and the Ad hoc Committee on Covid-19, Rep. Tanko Sununu, Rep. Pascal Obi and Rep. Haruna Mshelia respectively, among others was received at the facility by the Minister of State for Health, Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, the Chairman of Thisday Media Group, Nduka Obaigbena, Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Group, Tope Shonubi, among others.
Noting that the visit was part of the oversight responsibility of the House, the Speaker said: "What I’m seeing here today is even beyond my expectation, a comprehensive well-equipped facility, about 300-bed isolation centre.
"The people that put this together thought about everything, there’s an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and the facility is made as comfortable as possible for whoever is coming here, whether as workers or as patients.
“We are here as part of our oversight to see what is going on and the state of preparedness. We are happy because with facilities like this will ensure proper management of the virus that seems to have ravaged the whole world.
“This is commendable for the three groups, who have deployed the use of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into the establishment of this place. There can’t be any Corporate Social Responsibly beyond this," Gbajabiamila said.
On his part, the Minister of State for Health, Mamora, said from what was put on ground, the concerns over where to keep infected people after being tested and confirmed have been addressed with the facility.
He said the centre would go a long way in the fight against Covid-19 in the FCT and the country as a whole.
Thisday Newspapers Chairman, Obaigbena and Sahara Group CEO, Shonubi said the need for all hands to be on deck to tackle the disease was the reason they put resources together to put up the facility.
The Speaker and his entourage were conducted round the facility by the project coordinator Dr Peter Nmadu.

Lanre Lasisi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, House of Representatives.

Let me tell you the truth is your prayers in the inner recesses of your rooms are heard by God Almighty more than the prayers you've been praying precovid 19 which were all ruse till covid came unannounced. The tension is easing thanks to your private prayers. Vultures are also waiting to take your money by the vulnerability you imposed on yourself by not reading your bible and meditating on it and praying in your own as the Bible rightly prescribed for us all not listening to fantastic lies from pastors. This is exact opposite of what happened on Ibadan recently. Infact worst. This is total miscarriage of justice in the face of palpable evidence of adultry against the policeman. These things have been happening for a long time in Nigeria and have been happening with impunity in Nigeria by bad eggs like this policeman within the force. Very unprofessional and unacceptable in a period when people supposed to be locked down and maintain social distancing. This man must be tried and the truth brought out and let the whole world see that justice is being done. Something here is not just adding up. Seemingly the victim is now at the receiving end of injustice. The police officer should have been beheaded if it were some hot tempered man he did this to. He should count himself lucky he's still alive to perpetrate injustice. If the Nigerian police force should allow this to slide without thorough investigation and conviction. Then it is not worth having a police force but a crime force. My two cents.

Romance / Re: Her Parents Rejected Me Because I Am A Polytechnic Graduate by baysol: 7:53am On May 04, 2020
landmark86:
I graduated from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
She also graduated from Babcock University.

We both met in 2015 during our NYSC at River State. We serve in the same PPA. She is good, lovely and caring. And to crown it all she is beautiful. I mean so beautiful.

It all started with friendship which later led to relationship. We share so many things together during our time in River State as per what the future holds.

After our NYSC, we both went back to our various base. She is based in Lagos while I reside in Osun. Immediate I finished my NYSC, I got a job with a private organisation as a factory supervisor. But she went further for her Masters in Covenant University, Otta. Despite the distance we still communicate from time to time and at times I do find time to check on her in Otta, while she also do check on me in Osogbo.

After her M.sc, her dad got her a job with a big company in Lagos.

Last year December she came to Osogbo as usual to check on me but fortunately she met my parents and my siblings at my place. They all love and accept her. When she was leaving the next day she told me that her parents told her that they want to meet her fiancé.

12th January, 2020 I travelled down to Lagos to meet her parents. When getting there I met her parents with her only sister. Her dad ask of my parents, state, my qualification and what I do for a living. I told him and immediately he stood up and told me he will never allow his daughter to marry an HND holder.

He said he can't send his daughter to a university & end up marry an HND holder. Never!!! Though my gal is not in support of that, even ever since that time till now she's not her self in that house.
I truly love her and I know she truly love me too. But her parents is the major concern.
Should I call it quit?

Please your advise is needed, what should I do?
My dear friend
You can't replace paper qualification with love. Who knows whether you are under test by the parents to see if you truly love her, their first eye ball. In life when you desire someone and its mutual you must cultivate a never say die attitude. Never surrender never give up. It is well.

The policeman is stupid and I believe he did what he did for the cameras. The right thing would have been to put the lady on handcuffs to restrain her. What if she had a sharp object hidden in her clothes. A professional police officer anywhere in the world would have asked his boys to restrain the raging tiger of a woman and not the other way round.
Agreed, absolutely correct.. she has broken the law in the first place so there is a recourse to arrest her instead of allowing her to trash around like that. Someone could be killed or badly hurt.

I tell you. It's disgusting seeing all these devil's advocates spewing sentimental trash all over the place. She was caught in the act of flouting the lockdown order. Who says the officer can't claim she was resisting arrest and that's how the supposed slap "mistakenly" came about. He could claim the intention wasn't to slap her, but his hand was only deflected to strike her across the face.

She had it coming when she broke the law, in the first place.
Thank you Jare. Just plain and simple. This goes further to address the behavioural pattern among the yorubas who use their beautiful language badly rather than to advantage. The guy is also yoruba, you are at fault obviously not locked down. I mean instead of altercation and undue violence why not in good language negotiate and possibly apologize for wrong doing even the neighbours would not have known about it. What I seems not to comprehend is these stupid solidarity being peddled here in the name of police high handedness and killings. This is not related in any way and don't let us compare apple and orange here. Our women must learn to eschew this kind of behaviour and respect men. Police are now trying to be your friend but with this attitude?

Hi everyone, hope y'all safe. I am going to hit the road straight up.

My wife's sister, 24, visited us two days before the lockdown in Lagos and was hoping to travel in the next three days. Unfortunately for her, the lock down thwarted her plan.

Now, my wife, together with our 3 year old boy, always leaves the house during the day to go gossip with her friends, living only her sister and me at home.

The problem is, my wife's sister has been looking at me somehow, like she wants me to have sex with her. The other day she saw me and was smiling like I gifted her some money, like a fish. Yesterday, she wore a blouse that left her n.pples dangling back and forth as she walked around the house.

Guys please, I am in a dilemma. And, good god, the girl is finer and hotter than her sister, the gossip.

What do you want me to do?

No insult please.
Use the need for social distancing as excuse to bring your wife back home, until her sister leaves. If care is not taken at this rate you will fall into her trap.
