Hkatago: The intrigues in the quest for self-determination mostly championed by socio-cultural groups in Nigeria have an underlying reason laced in agitating for the well-being of the region. We all know self-determination is a desire of groups of persons to freely choose and develop their socio-cultural, political and economic systems. I shall quickly in this short piece attempt to draw a parallel between Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and AMOTEKUN, as canvassed for by Yoruba World Congress (YWC).
The Governors of the six western states of Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos and Ogun initiated the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun. This is a security outfit based in all the six south western states, with the sole responsibility of curbing general insecurity in the region. It was formally launched on 9th January, 2020 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The establishment of the security outfit was a follow-up to the regional security summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria on June 2019 through Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission (DAWN). In support of the outfit, all the six state governors contributed 20 vehicles each, except Oyo that contributed 33 vehicles, in order to assist the operatives in carrying out their duties, making a total of 133 vehicles for the start up, they also procured 100 units of motorcycles each, making a total of 600 motorcycles.
Following the announcement of Amotekun, the Yoruba World Congress (YWC) is an umbrella body of all Yoruba socio-cultural, self-determination and advocacy groups worldwide. The group has been in the fore front in galvanising local and international support for Amotekun, just as Nmandi KANU has done/is doing with IPOB. The group’s main objectives and vision may be different but their modus operandi seems to be the same. It is safe to say that YWC would make Amotekun end up as IPOB.
Undoubtedly, an increase in the agitation for self determination has led to an increase in government responsiveness. This growing demand for secession has particularly being used as a powerful tool for political negotiation in the country that has seen the proliferation of ethnic and sub-ethnic militia groups in the political landscape of the country.
What is left to be seen is if Amotekun will eventually metamorphose into IPOB like agitation. We have a few rhetorical questions to ask. Will the creation of the sub-ethnic give the south west the political capital to clinch leadership come 2023? Are the south west political leaders are hell bent on hoodwinking the south in event the presidency is zoned to the south, edging out South east from political equation? Is it the end that will justify the means? We wait.

HigherEd: PRESS STATEMENT FROM LIVING FAITH CHURCH ON CHURCH SERVICE OF MARCH 22, 2020
*Coronavirus: Compliance with Government Order – Matters Arising*
It has become necessary to issue this statement to clarify issues surrounding why Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, the International Headquarters of Living Faith Church in Ogun State, held church service on Sunday, although with less than half of her regular worshippers.
There have been diverse responses varying from well-meaning concerns to uncharitable insinuations, misinterpretations, and unfounded allegations that the service was held in deliberate defiance of Ogun State Government ban on high-density gatherings, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Nothing can be further from the truth.
For avoidance of doubt, as stakeholders and as a responsible organisation, Living Faith Church fully supports and encourages compliance with all initiatives of government to combat the spread of this dreaded virus. However, information has to be strategically disseminated to the grassroot, noting that the Church is a family and not an industry, it is for this reason that enlightenment and sensitization from the Church platform is a most effective way to get people involved in playing their part in terms of prayers and intercessions and not just staying away from Church without knowing what to do.
Invariably, a press release from the office of the CAN President, through his Special Assistant on media on Saturday March 21, 2020, expressed the same position that members who may gather in church premises, many of whom may not be aware of this regulations should be allowed to worship for the purpose of enlightenment on the subject matter.
As we all know, the Church is made up of both literate and illiterate congregants; many are not in touch with any of the modern platforms of communication and this is what we did yesterday. Indeed, the service was devoted entirely to sensitizing and mobilizing members of the Church regarding the danger of this deadly virus and the need to comply with government directives.
The Bishop has since engaged Ogun State Government at the highest level to clarify this issue and any misgivings and reiterated the full support of the church for the State Government’s efforts to ensure public safety, towards curtailing the spread of this deadly virus. He appreciates the opportunity of direct engagement and the understanding of the government. Cooperation to safeguard public safety is not just a moral obligation or civic responsibility; the church also considers it a spiritual duty.
For instance, to show how law abiding our organisation is and in compliance with government directives, all our primary and secondary schools across the nation have been directed to close down. Also, our students at Landmark University, Omuaran, Kwara State were sent back home, while Covenant University Students, who are currently on vacation were instructed to stay back at home while awaiting further directives from government.
As a responsible and law abiding organization we wish to state that will ensure compliance with the government directives in all our churches across the state .
The Church shall continue to engage all necessary logistics to ensure compliance with government directives and continue to pray for speedy divine intervention to stem this deadly virus.

Politics › Re: Fact: Criticisms And A Revolution, Are The Two Really Synonymous? by bbamusa: 3:24pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
9jaCritic90: According to the Advanced Learners Dictionary, the word Criticism is defined as a critical judgement expressed or passed over an idea through detailed observation or feeling, or simply put, it is a critical observation derived from a detailed examination of a situation and subsequently pointing out fault observed therein.
The same dictionary described revolution as a violent process of creating an abstraction to the process of governance through unconventional process and subsequently replacing the government with the interest of the rebel group who caused the change.
While the former is recognised by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria encapsulated in the universal Freedom of Speech, expression, holding and impacting of opinion, the latter only exists in the dictionary of rebel groups who position themselves as power grabbers either through the power of a barrel or by causing civil disobedience.
Accordingly, a lot of governments across the globe have been confronted with various revolutionary groups in recent time. Typical is the Arab Spring which started in Algeria, one Buazizi a fruits seller set himself ablaze to attract sympathy. The incident ended up causing widespread civil disobedience. Ultimately, the outcome led to the creation of terrorism and various opposition armed groups now spread across the West African Region that our country is still battling to survive.
In Saudi Arabia during the height of the Arab Spring, those who identified themselves as Revolutionaries were publicly beheaded in broad daylight by the government of the Saudi Kingdom. The government justified its reason that it did so to deter the would-be revolutionaries and discourage them from thinking in that direction. Consequently, the United State Government clapped for the Saudi Government for successfully decimating the opponent and sold more weapons to them.
Also, we are all witnesses to Catalan Separatist leaders in Spain who bagged various jail terms for organising an independence referendum for a separate state of Catalonia. Their action pushed the Spain government to the extent of ordering an international arrest warrant to bundle the personality who was the former Catalan President and was subsequently arrested in Belgium, currently awaiting deportation to Spain.
During the United State civil war, the southern secessionists campaign started as “revolution” However the then President, Abraham Lincoln swiftly moved to stop them, In his inauguration speech, he said “I am not aware of any oath taken anywhere by anybody to subvert the authority of the State, but I shall have the supreme authority to preserve the State and the territory of the United State. He ultimately crushed the rebels into oblivion.
In Bahrain, opposition leaders were arrested and detained without charges, some imprisoned while others killed and others their citizenship were stripped off. In all this happening, the United State has kept mute. It went to the extent of providing diplomatic cover for Bahrain authorities against criticism during the United Nation Security Council meeting.
In the year 2013 Abdul Fatah El-Sisi of Egypt ousted the democratically elected government of Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sisi massacred thousands of those who went against him as revolutionaries at the Tahrir Square in Cairo, all in an attempt to retain the power to himself. Till today, the United State rewards El-Sisi handsomely with annual arm subsidy of $1.2 billion. Similarly, in the late 80s in China, some so-called revolutionary protester who organised themselves at the Tienanmen square never lived to tell the story.
Coming back to home Nigeria, some unpatriotic elements are suddenly advocating that President Buhari should clap for Omoyele Sowore who blatantly on a live Television organised a #RevolutioNow, to be treated with kids gloves. Calling Sowore’s claim as “freedom of speech”.
Sowore openly said he was going to remove Buhari from Presidential Villa wheather Buhari was ready or not. He further stated that the DSS was going to face dissolution while the armed forces will be disbanded. Yet people expect President Buhari to just sit down and clap!
Mind you, Kaduna Nzeagwu who assassinated Sir, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Ladoke Akintola, Brigadier Maimalari and Okotie Ebor during the 1966 coup also claimed to be a revolutionary fighter.
Colonel Haile Mengistu Mariam who toppled the Ethiopian Imperial Dynasty and assassinated Empero Haile Sellasie and subsequently buried him in soak away pit also called himself a revolutionary.
A stitch in time they say saves nine.

PervertProphet: Same Sharia State.
I thought the Sharia law is the "most perfect law". This is what they seek to force on us here in the South West. Same law usually blind to the rich Muslims exploiting the poor ones.
You see why we need to constantly speak up against the ideology of the 7th Century self professed pervert prophet whose "godly" legacy is the reason I bear this moniker.
Lots of ignorant people need to be taught about his "godly" legacies which included banning Onions and Garlic, at 54 "zam-zamming" a 9year old little girl, grabbing his own adopted son's wife after seeing her uncovered and revealing a special ayah(33:50) that gives him exclusive access to everything in skirt even from his paternal and maternal side, promising all of his adherents Hell-fire except for a select few of 70,000 or 700,000 who either have the prayer marks on their foreheads or are Jihadist suicide vests propagators.
The ideology is a dangerous one. First, they claim that the ungodly ideology is "peace" and keep screaming that "there is no compulsion in religion" and everyone should practice theirs.
Next, they perfectly spread that Taqiyya till they become the ones in majority then the "Peace" slogan immediately changes to "We alone must own the society".
Everything from Education, Musicians, Christians, LGBT peeps, Atheists, Shia Muslims, Ahmadiyya Muslims, Poets, Actors, etc are all served the quit notice. They are next told that the regressive system of laws termed Sharia Law is way better than the Secular laws of countries that were derived from Judeo-Christian principles and values thousand of years before theirs. Their Sharia law that goes hard only on the uneducated poor ones while leaving out their rich who even as members of the Saudi Arabia Ruling Class and elite Sheikh class jet out regularly to party at clubs all over Europe and Dubai.
They fail to imagine that if other groups had their own form of "Sharia Laws" and enforced theirs. They will never even be opportuned to demand for their own set of laws forced upon the rest of us.
The funny thing is all these other groups from the Educationists, Poets, Art creatives, Hollywood actors, LGBT peeps, Atheists, Christians, etc are always docile and even support these Sharia peeps till they become the majority and lol! They repay them back with ingratitude and next turn on all these other groups that support them and boot them out stopping their rights to freedom of worship, gathering, association, etc except they pay the Jizyah.
If the West of Nigeria (The Intellectual Base of this Country) falls to this Sharia Madness. Then, all hope is lost for the largest gathering of blacks on the Continent. To think that there are educated individuals amongst them who join in calling for this Sharia Insanity not only bewilders me but also amuses me. One has to be a special kind of idiot to follow the ideology of a 7th Century pervert prophet whom as you learn more about his life. You get repulsed by the fact that 1.7 billion people would still consider this Pervert murderous pedophile as one they must follow.
How do you follow one that your morals is way better than? you need to go back to school, stop attacking Islam for his crime. Islam did not asked him to loot his subjects. this man is criminal simple.... |

[quote author=Idokojimmy post=83855921]The media space has been awash with reports about the reported disengagement of about thirty five aides working or that were formerly working with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Several dailies had claimed that the affected aides had their Villa tags withdrawn on Wednesday and Thursday. The reports further hinted that the aides were appointed in August.
Although the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation that purportedly issued the disengagement letters denied that such sack took place, Dailytrust on Thursday released the names and portfolios of the affected aides.
I will reproduce some of the names and their portfolios for Nigerians to decide whether Osinbajo really needs the affected aides in the first place; I. Arukino Umukoro- SA, Niger Delta II. Edobor Iyamu SSA, Niger Delta III. Gambo Manzo SA, Political IV. Bisi Ogungbemi SA, Political Matters V. Bala Liman Mohammed SSA Economy VI. Akin Soetan SSA, Economic matters VII. Yosola Akinbi SSA, NEC VIII. Edirin Akemu SSA, Industry, Trade & Investment IX. Yussuf Ali SA, Power regulations X. Morakinyo Beckley SA, Off-grid power XI. Tochi Nwachukwu SA, Power Privatisation XII. Tola Asekun SSA, National boundary commission XIII. Lanre Osinbona- SSA, ICT XIV. Imeh Okon- SSA, Infrastructure XV. Jide Awolowo- SA, Oil and Gas XVI. Lilian Idiaghe- SA, Research, Legal and Compliance XVII. Dolapo Bright SSA, Agro-Allied Value Chain XVIII. Toyosi Onaolapo SA, Community engagement XIX. Aondaver Kuttuh Technical Assistant, Rule of Law XX. Ife Adebayo SA, Innovation.
One of the campaign promises of the current administration was reduction in the cost of governance. Such agenda of course can only be achieved if irrelevant political appointments are not made and political appointees deemed surplus to requirement are disengaged.
Does Osinbajo need two SA and SSA on Niger Delta when we have a full Ministry and a Commission called NDDC? Does the Vice President has need for two SAs on Political and Political matters? What duplicity is this? What politics is he playing? Does the Professor of Law have any need for 4 aides on Economic matters even when his Economic Management Team has been disbanded with Buhari setting up the Economic Advisory Council?
I can go on and on. Let me remind my readers that some Agencies and Programmes that were hitherto under the supervision of the Vice President have been ceded to some Ministries. These aides were assisting Osinbajo when they were still under the office of the Vice President. No wonder the aides were deployed to the relevant Ministries and Agencies. Why force aides on Ministers who might have engaged aides already, performing the same duties as those redeployed to their ministries? Of course they became redundant and must be discarded.
Those weaving their whole argument around 2023 and power tussle between the VP and the fictitious cabal must have a rethink and consider the overall interest of the country. Today, a large chunk of the nation's budget is set aside for recurrent expenditure with little or nothing for capital projects. Yet we complain about the slow pace of development in the country. How can we grow when one man that makes little or no contribution to economic policies have 4 SAs and SSAs? SAs on Niger Delta, which is not even under his watch?
Going forward, the Presidency should review appointment of aides to make room for efficiency. A Vice President with over 85 aides defies logic in the real sense of it. [/quote Yunana Dungs wrote this piece from Jos, Plateau State and could be reached via yarise@yahoo.com
