Mimiko, emerging political leader – Wabara
On March 24, 2012 · In News
12:31 am

The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has been described by the former Senate President, Adolphous Wabara as an emerging political leader even as his Niger State counterpart, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu advised him to ignore manipulators and propagandists plotting against him.

Senator Wabara made the declaration Thursday night at the Nigerian Tribune Awards ceremony where Mimiko won the Governor Of The Year Award. The award took place at the Sheraton Hotels Abuja.

He said all eyes should be on Mimiko as an emerging political leader adding that the award should spur him to do more for humanity.

His Niger state counterpart, Alhaji Aliyu at the event praised the Ondo State governor for standing out among his peers. He particularly gave him kudos for demonstrating enough courage to leave the People’s Democratic Party when he was short changed and opted for a new platform to contest the gubernatorial election in the state four months to the election and still got the people’s mandate.

Stressing that the governor is leaving his footprints on the sand of time, Aliyu urged Mimiko not to be bothered about manipulators who are plotting against him saying that it is obvious the governor is loved and has the support of his people.

“You are Omoluabi, if you can leave our party four months to an election and you were able to get your people’s mandate it means you are loved by your people. Because you are a man of character you left us and proved that you are wanted by your people even when you crossed to a new party. “Don’t worry about people who would want to manipulate the situation, you are a very good man” Babangida said.

Also at the event, the Chairman of the Tribune stable , Chief Mrs HID Awolowo described Mimiko as one among equals, while the Senate President , David Mark called him a performer together with whom he acted on behalf of NADECO, a civil formation which fought for the enthronement of democracy in the country.

Recieving the award, Mimiko said it will serve as a challenge for his government to do more.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ondo state, we thank The Tribune title as this award will serve as a challenge for us to do more “ the governor said remarking that Tribune is testimony to the genius of its founder, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

alj harem: Aregbesola is a loud mouth person. all these I use to agree with Beaf before until it took an ethnic dimension. I wonder how a sane human, I mean A SANE HUMAN BEING would compare Akwa Ibom or Imo to Lagos in recent years ?
If you are not stup!d, please tell us how comparing Akwa Ibom to Lagos is an "ethnic dimension?"
Lol! There's so much to laugh at on NL!

In my opinion, Akpabio is the best governor in Nigeria. What is ethnic dimension to that? This whole mixing of ethnicity and politics is due to the obnoxious politics of ACN. Thanks to ACN, these days, there are all sorts of animals roaming NL and employing ethnic blackmail to protect their political interests. The place is packed tight with fungi and fools (you are number one); its like a disease infection.

What is the ethnic dimension in my prefering Akpabio to Fashola? The US ambassador also rated Akpabio as the best in wikileaks, so what was the ethnic dimension?

You are an unrepentant fool.

CuteTj: Sorry to say, by criticising Ibori despite him sharing ethnic blood with you doesn't mean you have done anything special. Anybody that doesn't criticise a tried and convicted thief like Ibori then must be a thief. In as much as i believe him to be an islamic extremist and don't subscribe to his brand of politics, If Aregbesola does ANYTHING POSITIVE or anything worth applauding, applaud him despite you not subscribing to his ethnically bigotted politics. I admit that i don't like the PDP for anything but from time to time, i applaud members of PDP irrespective of the ethnic group they belong to if they do anything positive.
Oga, the only two people from ACN that I can applaud are Oshiomole and Fashola.
Aregbesola is a thug and Tinubu is a forger (and many other grimy things), both are fraudsters at the head of a bigotted party. Nothing on Earth can make me praise either of them.

Can you imagine what these guys can determine just by listening to the audio of an engine?
Freaky! Scary!

The FIA have reportedly declared Red Bull's Renault engine legal after questions were raised by rivals Mercedes.

Following Red Bull's queries about Mercedes' rear wing, the tables were turned in Sepang when the latter asked for clarification about the reigning World Champ's engines.

As of this season teams are only permitted to cut up four cylinders off-throttle through the corners, however, Mercedes - based on audio analysis - believed Red Bull could be cutting more.

The team raised their concerns with the FIA, who reportedly declared that there is nothing illegal about Red Bull's engine mapping.

This is a sentiment echoed by McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh who explained the situation, telling grandprix.com: "Mercedes has presented us with some audio analysis. It's quite complex but the upshot is, they say it shows that Red Bull are cutting more than four cylinders, which you are not allowed to do.

"Actually, the cut pattern is not determined, so you can cut as many cylinders in whatever order you like. We've got the data and we can see quite clearly that there are four cylinders being injected, four cylinders firing and they are timed at the right time, so there's every reason to suppose that there's combustion going on.

"Moreover, the throttle opening at that point is not any more than it is normally, so if they are doing anything funny they are not opening the throttle any more, so it negates the arguments a lot.

"As far as we are concerned it's entirely legal because they are not cutting more than four cylinders, which is what the contention is."

While admitting with ‘ogboju’ (boldface) that he recently collected ‘something’ from Segun Mimiko, which appears as a deliberate preemptive strategy to prevent any later-day possible revelation of same by the Mimiko camp, he then gets to work to spin and present in good light the ignoble action of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State which has been variously described as the worse display of leadership by any Nigerian in recent time. Aregbesola apart from launching a personal tirade against a fellow governor was said to have come to the occasion with a retinue of ‘Osun Apalara team’ with some of them acting as his personal slaves. Eye witnesses at the event said that some of the Apalara Group held something that looked like giant hand made fans behind him like the old ‘dongaris’ (palace slaves) as he flaunted his power and newly acquired status of importance. He was said to have abandoned the podium prepared for all other governors claiming it was not good enough with one being ferried specially from Oshogbo by some of the ‘Apalara slaves’ that attended to his personal needs. So much for somebody who claimed to be fighting for the interest of the Yoruba! One must repeat a question that has been asked – Was Aregbesola fighting for the interest of Yorubaland or the interest of the free access by his master to the wealth of Yorubaland? Did Aregbesola’s behavior qualify as that of an Omoluabi?

At every given opportunity you attack ACN and Aregbesola. ACN/PDP wats the difference between them? They are just a bunch of thugs who want power at all cost but you never attack PDP despite evidence of their corrupt and inept leadership. You even mentioned in one of your posts that PDP is the only party for Nigeria (you said something of that nature but not exactly in those word). PDP is one of Nigeria's biggest. It seems you are a card carrying member of the PDP so not to worry, i understand your point of view. (And provide evidence that Aregbesola slapped all those you claim he slapped).

It is ok to beat our chests in the presence of foreigners, but only for the sake of our pride.
When we at home or in each others company, we must admit the bitter truth to ourselves.

Sometimes I see Nigerians making derogatory remarks about Zimbabwe, but they do not realise that Zimbabwe is far better than Nigeria in almost every developmental index. They have a 90% litteracy rate, manufacturing contributes to 10% of their GDP (projected to rise to 30% in the next two years. They have one of the best road networks in Africa and just like in Europe, if you break down there are phone numbers you can call and somebody will come out to help you. There are very few armed robberies and power cuts.

We should at least strive to be like Zimbabwe before insulting that country in public for no other reason than, we think we are some phucking giant of Africa. What sort of giant cannot manufacture a phucking pin? angry

N44m Bribery: EFCC questions Hembe
On March 23, 2012 · In News
7:35 pm

Abuja – (NAN) Mr Herman Hembe, a member of the House of Representatives, appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday for allegedly asking for N44 million from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Hembe, the immediate past chairman of the House Committee on the Capital Market, was accused of demanding the money by Ms Aruma Oteh, the Director-General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hembe was still with the EFCC as of 3 p.m. on Friday.

An official of the commission, who preferred anonymity because he was not permitted to speak on the matter, confirmed to NAN that the lawmaker and some of members of the House had come to honour the EFCC’s invitation.

“As I speak with you, he (Hembe) is here and being questioned,’’ he said.

He declined further comment.

The source, however, was not able to confirm if Oteh had also honoured the commission’s invitation.

The lawmaker was sighted in front of the commission’s office at about 10 a.m. but went into the premises on sighting photo journalists.

It will be recalled that during House public hearing on the activities of the Stock and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 18, Oteh accused Hembe of demanding N44 million bribe from her.

She also said that Hembe had not returned the estacode he had collected for an abortive SEC-sponsored trip to the Dominican Republic for a conference on emerging markets.

Hembe resigned as chairman of the committee on account of the allegations while the House of Representatives set up a new committee to continue the probe.

Igbo people can dish it out but they can't take it, well that's how it seems anyway wink. Don't you know this is only NL? Come on, time to take a chill pill my man. It's no big thing.
The bolded is definite.
Like I said, cultures are different. In a multi-cultural World, the person who goes poking fun at other ethnic groups and spreading hate, while thinking they would see it as banter is little different from a fool. The reason is, in cultures where people are of few words, things simply get quietly written in a little black book.

So please, let us keep "banter" out of descriptions of peoples identities. It isn't fun.
