I was on my way from Ibadan this afternoon after i spent 4hours travelling to that ancient city for my speaking session today no thanks to the road construction which is another story for another day.
On my way out of ibadan I wanted to buy fresh corn and decided to play a fast joke on the lady selling. I asked ‘I hope your corn doesn’t have Ebola’?
She looked at me a bit stunned and asked in her Ibadan dialect ‘Emi ni nje Ebola, Se oruko eniyan ni abi oruko agbado titun’? (Which one is ebola is it a person’s name of the name of a new corn)
Guess what I learnt a great lesson and that lesson has not left me ‘There is no fear of Ebola among the illiterates cos they don’t know what it is. For them life continues because they live in nature’.
Looks to me that our exposure to social media and technology is gradually becoming a curse to us than gain.
Imagine how better your life would have been without some of these BB BC’s and your smart phones? This is not for us not to take precaution but just a lesson i learnt on my way from ibadan.
Are you still afraid? Throw away your phone and join my ibadan friend to hawk Agbado cos in that world ebola doesn’t exist. lol*rotfl*

Don Jazzy should NEVER use that director again (he messed this song up), the video lacked that ENERGY and dance moves.
Someone who saw the video with me said “It had no story line, too much flash and extravagance. I would never understand why our top artistes keep using white girls to show they have money or to illustrate their wealth. Do you see white guys use black girls? Why not invest in African women? You don’t need a whole continent to feature in your video. They just killed the video…”
Another colleague said “I expected more, Don jazzy needs to know its not about how flashy or expensive the video is…we need content and meaningful things…what a complete let down, nothing new, why can’t Nigerian musicians be creative..we want fresh and edgy. This was so predictable…it could have been way better, it’s nothing out of the ordinary and some people were there on instagram making us feel as if we where missing out big time because we couldn’t watch it till today…moreover, that scene where Tiwa Savage tasted her ‘hot tea’….was a NO, NO for me – yeah it was funny but …oh please! ”

Nigeria’s biggest hip-hop awards, Smooth Production’s ‘The Headies’ is set to hold on October 25, 2014.
According to Smooth Production’s CEO, Ayo Animashaun, ‘There is no better way to reward these deserving artists where they are not only appreciated by their country, but also celebrated on a platform aligned with international brands. The honour of receiving this prestigious award in their country, that is recognized on an international level, is one of the many things Smooth Promotions aims to achieve with this years organization of The Headies.’
Last year, Olamide and Phyno both led the winnings as they took home multiple awards while Sean Tizzle won the ‘next rated’ award. Hosts for this year’s edition have not been announced yet.
The organizers have however announced that they have started accepting materials for nominations adding that only music released between July 2013 and June 2014 are eligible for entry. Submission of materials for nomination started on July 22 and will close on August 30. This year’s Headies marks the prestigious awards’ 9th year running, the awards held it’s first edition in 2006.

Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has said that an undergraduate allegedly killed by a guard at a hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos, is not a student of the institution.
Miss Busayo Ogunkoya, 22, was reportedly shot dead by one Mr. Azeez Ibrahim, a guard attached to Mambillah Hotel during a birthday party on July 5. Ibrahim was said to be drunk when he shot Ogunkoya.
In a statement signed by the Director, Communication and Marketing, Mr. Joshua Suleiman, however, the authorities at the university said while Ogunkoya was admitted into the university some years back, she had since dropped out.
“While we regret the passing away of Busayo Ogunkoya, and sympathise with her family who currently are in anguish over this irreparable loss, Babcock University wishes to state here unequivocally that the victim was not our student at the time of her death.
She was admitted into Babcock University during the 2011/2012 academic session to read Public Administration. She dropped out of the university after one semester. Since then she ceased to be out student. Therefore, she could not have been our student.’’
Confirming the incidence, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Lelma Kolle, had said, “Yes, the incident happened. The girl was in the hotel and the security man opened fire on her. Nobody knows his reason for doing that. The police have arrested the assistant manager of the hotel, the deceased’s boyfriend and the security man. The case has been transferred to the SCID.’’

The Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Shehu , has confirmed  to newsmen that 25 people died following  today’s  bomb explosion along Alkali Road, Kaduna-Abuja.  Earlier, witnesses said that  about 35 people lost their lives in the explosion as a second one went off few hours after the first.  The incident reportedly occurred around Alkali road, near Murtala Square, where muslim faithful had gathered to round up the Ramadan Tafsir led by a prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
DailyPost reports that the bomb exploded few minutes after the  programme which ended at about 1:00pm, killing people who were departing from the venue of the event through Alkali road.
Relatively, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari escaped death at the whisker in the second bomb blast as his convoy was reportedly targeted by gunmen who fired shots at vehicles conveying him and others. Buhari, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was  said to be on his way to his Daura home in  Katsina State when the second bomb exploded.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Kanuna State, Alhaji  Muktar Yero, has imposed  a 24 hour  curfew in Kaduna city following  the twin bomb explosions  that  rocked the metropolis

One person was confirmed dead while another person sustained injuries following a pandemonium that erupted at the Saw Mill area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday as officials of the Nigerian Customs Service clashed with some car dealers.
Though witnesses said two people were feared dead following the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the death of one person.
One of the witnesses toldPUNCH Metrothat trouble started when some customs officials chased a vehicle, said to be conveying suspected smuggled cosmetics products, into the Ilorin metropolis.
The source said that the driver of the vehicle resisted arrest while the customs officials, in a desperate attempt to apprehend him, fired gunshots.
It was said the shots killed the driver immediately while his assistant sustained injuries.
The source said, “An unidentified customs official shot the driver of the vehicle and he died, while his assistant sustained injuries.
“The driver is also a car dealer, who has just arrived from a trip from Benin Republic. He was stopped by customs officials on the highway. However, the suspected smuggler did not obey the customs men and sped off. The officials chased him and later shot the two occupants of the vehicle and ran away.”
Our correspondent gathered that some car dealers and youths mobilised and barricaded some roads leading to the operational office of the customs service, behind the Ilorin Praying Ground.
The aggrieved car dealers and youths were said to have wielded weapons and protested to the customs office.
They were said to have met strong resistance from customs men and anti-riot policemen that were deployed to restore normalcy in the area.
It was gathered that the policemen fired shots into the air to scare away the protesters.
Our correspondent also gathered that roads linking the customs office were blocked by the customs officials and armed policemen.
It was further gathered that authorities of a school located close to the office, the CAC Junior Secondary School, hurriedly closed the school for the day to ensure the safety of the pupils.
The PPRO confirmed the clash between the customs officials and the car dealers toPUNCH Metro.He said one person died during the crisis, adding that his remains had been deposited at a hospital morgue.
“Only one person died. We have not made any arrest, but normalcy has returned to the area. The police will not tolerate people taking laws into their hands,” he said.

Nigerians need to focus more on developingentrepreneurial skillrather than acquiringuniversity degreesin order to find relevance in Nigeria’s consumer-based economy.
This much was stated by Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese,Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukahin aLeadershipinterview.
He argued that the high incidence of unemployment in the country is due to the ill-placed emphasis on degrees.
According to the Bishop, the degree-by-all-means trend is a post-colonial mentality that must be done away with.
“We lost the script somewhere along the line, and the idea of a university degree smacks of post-colonial mentality,”Kukahsaid.
“It is only in Nigeria that you find a man with seven children who believes that all the seven children must become graduates”
Bishop Kukah said getting auniversity degreeis not a necessity for everyone, pointing to theIgbo creativeandentrepreneurshipwhich has earned them some degree of self sufficiency.

One of the wives of the late Afrobeat legend,Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Laide Anikulapo-Kuti,Nee Babayale, has revealed some shocking details about the late legend.
Though the interview was months back, I found it now and it’s so revealing. If you haven’t read it before, read it now. It was actually a video interview withTrumpet Media Group,but you can read the transcribed version after the cut.
How did you meet Fela?
I met Fela at a Sunday Jump in 1974. The shrine was opposite my house and some of my friends were selling things in front of the place, and we were just there doing our own thing, while Baba was inside doing his own thing as usual. It was the boys that made us know him well.
They came to buy cigarettes from my friends, and wanted to take candy sweets for free, and I was a kind of person that would never allow anybody take me or the people around me for a ride.
I protested, and the next thing I knew, was that a hot slap landed on the cheek of my friend selling the goods, and that’s how we started fighting, that Fela had to come out. We narrated what happened to him, so Fela took the boy that slapped my friend inside and punished him. After that, Fela sent one of his drivers to me that if I’m chanced, I should come and see him.
Initially, I didn’t want to go in, because my people must not see me in that kind of environment. I was 16 years old as at then but I had a big stature. When I got in, Fela said I should follow any of the cars to his house, but I didn’t go. That was how I knew Fela liked me, and I liked him too, so every Sunday jump, I was always going there, well-dressed. Whenever he was going in, he always looked in our direction. However, to cut the long story short, we eventually began dating.
What was your parent’s reaction when they knew you were in Kalakuta?
It was a tug-of war. My father never wanted it, because he thought people who were around Fela were hooligans, but it was a lie. Anybody who was a hooligan then was either a passer-by, or just a shrine-goer, and not part of Fela’s inner caucus, because Fela never wanted trouble from any of his people.
Fela fought with his music, but when people heard the lyrics of his songs, they thought he was a hooligan, which he was not. I was actually on break from school for two weeks when I decided to go and spend some time with Fela, but when I got there, I really enjoyed myself and didn’t want to go back to school again though I was in Form Four then. My parents went looking for me in school, but the Reverend mothers and sisters there then said they didn’t know my whereabouts even though all my properties were still in the hostel.
They began searching everywhere, but they never thought I could be in Fela’s place. It was actually Fela’s friend, who happened to be my in-law, Uncle Tayo Mott, that informed my parents that I was with Fela. He was a very close friend to Fela and was also his DJ.
What were the actions your father took?
He was always coming to harass us wherever we went. He would send boys from Shitta, Surulere, to bundle me up wherever I was, and they would carry me. My father was a prominent, well-known and outgoing person, so he knew people like King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, and IK Dairo very well, so he begged the three of them to go and plead with Fela to release his daughter.
On that fateful day when they came, I was in Fela’s room, and we had just finished doing our ‘thing.’ When Fela was informed that the three men were there to see him, he went out, and later sent for me that I should dress up and come out. When I went out, he sat me down, and asked me if I knew the three men, and I replied in the affirmative. He asked me if I knew why they were there, and I replied that I didn’t, so he told me they were there because of me.
I said why, and asked them if they knew me, but Fela calmed me down, that they were sent by my father to beg me to come back home. I then told them that there was nothing happening there that they didn’t know about because they were also in the music industry. I told them I was enjoying Fela’s music and didn’t want to go home.
Can you recollect what happened when Kalakuta Republic was invaded?
It started like a joke, but quickly escalated into war. Some traffic police officers ‘Yellow Fever’ came and said they wanted to see the person who drove a Range Rover that was in the compound because it had even numbers on its license plate, even though it was odd numbers. The gateman then told them that he was not in the best position to answer them, because as someone that wasn’t learned, he didn’t know the difference between odd and even numbers. The gateman then went inside to inform Fela, and he told them that he wasn’t coming out.
The Yellow Fever officers then went and came back with some soldiers because we were very near Abati Barracks then. When Fela was informed that there were soldiers outside, he first went into his mother’s room, because he never went out without seeing her. Beko was already in the clinic then, but when he saw what was going on, he also came into mama’s room. Before we knew what was happening, the whole thing degenerated into chaos.
How did the issue of the mass marriage come about?
When Kalakuta Republic was invaded and we all had different injuries, mine was on my navel, and all the other women making jest of me that I would never have a baby, even though I was just about 20 years old then. I really wanted to have children because of the special treatment Fela gave his children. I then decided to look outside because Fela didn’t want to have any more children then.
He went to one Baba JK in Idi Oro in Mushin to make his s***m watery. He was always drinking African medicine there, and that was what neutralized his s***m. So many women were always getting pregnant for him that he was terminating about six different pregnancies per day. It was Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti that used to terminate it then. They’re all dead now; me too, I’m going to die one day, but it’s always good to put things right for the records.
There was another girl then who I was close with, Adunni, so I told her that we should look for people who we would have children for. She had a baby for a taxi driver, while I had my baby for a journalist, Steve, with Punch Newspapers. He usually reported whatever activity Fela was involved in all round the world. He was the kind of person I needed at that time. There was a time we were in Ghana in Hotel Presidential, and that was the time I went in with him. Shortly after that, I started experiencing morning sickness, and when it was confirmed that I was pregnant, I was very happy.
Soon after that, Fela called me to go in with him, and I told him that I was pregnant. He said, ‘What’ and I repeated it. He came from the third floor to the first floor to Mama’s room, and he told her, “Maami, you know what, Laide is pregnant.’ Mama asked him who was responsible, and he told her he was the one to cover me up. Mama then said ‘Fine’ because she knew Fela liked me and I liked Fela. Mama never knew that I had intercourse with Steve, even though his room was directly opposite mama’s own in Ghana. This is a true life story. I want you to bring it out and let people know.
After that time, Fela now called Steve and the press that ‘these women have suffered a lot with me, so if anyone of them wants, they can marry me and be having children.’ Steve said if that was what he wanted, then, no problem. So Fela put out a notebook and said that the people who want to marry him out of all the women in the shrine should put their names down. In all, we were 27 that wrote our names, and Fela told the rest that if they didn’t write their names, he wouldn’t sleep with them.
On the day of the wedding ceremony, Fela’s best pal, Tunji Braithwaite, who was supposed to join us together, ran away from his chambers, saying that he had never seen such a thing before for a man to marry 27 women at the same time. He had thought it was a joke when Fela told him earlier. The following day, Fela called an Ifa priest and they came to join us together at Hotel Parisona in Anthony, Lagos. Fela put money on everybody’s heads and we collected our certificates of marriage to him.
Can you describe how it felt like being with him?
Fela was a true living legend. He was the one and only man that God put in our midst, but people never knew his worth until he was gone. Fela was always chewing music in his mouth whatever he was doing. Whether he was eating, driving, or with a woman in the room, he was always chewing music in his mouth with his pen and paper with him always. He was very good at writing in short-hand; in fact he was good at everything you can ever think of. There was nothing he did wrong; except you didn’t know him. He was a messiah; if we had given him a chance, Nigeria would have changed, but people like Obasanjo never gave him a chance.
Whenever Fela wanted to make music, he sang about the things around him.
Talking about bedroom matters, how did Fela rotate between his numerous wives?
Fela always called his wives based on how he enjoyed them; if he did not enjoy you, he would not call you. Even after the marriage, it continued like that.

Here are some silly things that girls do in the name of love:
1. Living in the same room with a man who has not paid your bride-price or wedded you; this is foolishness of you.
2. Accepting to be a second wife. Yu are a living dead, you have a better option, yu better think big.
3. Wearing the engagement ring of a man who doesn’t even know your parents or house. You are wasting yur time & blessing.
4. Using your boyfriend’s picture as your profile picture on Facebook, thus blocking serious and potential suitors. Hey, you have missed it all.
5. Giving your virginity to a man who has not paid your bride-price. You have lost yur dignity in life.
6. Cooking food regularly and washing clothes for your boyfriend. That was a big mistake of your life
7. Disobeying your parents for the sake of a man you are dating. You are out of yur brain
8. Giving s*x to a man simply because he promised to marry you. Haba! Na only yhu waka come?
9. Sending your Unclad pictures to your boyfriend. Chaii dia is God O! shame on yhu
10. A man will beat you and you will still be saying that you can not do without him; hmm you need deliverance
11. A man cheats on you and you still say that you can never quit him, Hmm you need prayer. And hot factory reset slap.
