Politics › "Stop Your Obsession With Senate Presidency" - PDP Tells Oshiomhole by BeeBeeOoh(op): 1:55pm On Aug 12, 2018 |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, to halt his obsession to change the leadership of the Senate, as such is completely out of his reach.
The party also advised Oshiomhole to stop his childish tantrums and get educated on the fact that the positions of the Senate President and that of Deputy Senate President do not belong to political parties but to Nigerians, who elect persons into the seats through their elected representatives in the Senate. In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said Oshiomhole should “stop exposing his ignorance in thinking that the Senate leadership can be changed by his inconsequential orders as a factional chairman of a political party, when the law is settled that such power is vested only in the two-third votes, representing 73 of the 109 senators”.
“We know that Oshiomhole is under intense pressure from the Presidency to overheat the polity, distract the National Assembly members and make as much effort to cause a constitutional crisis in the country, having realised that they cannot win the 2019 general elections,” it said.
PDP warned thos3vit called desperate power grabbers to note that their actions have unlimited capacity to destroy the nation’s democracy.
“Nigerians have noted that since his imposition as the factional Chairman of the APC, Mr. Oshiomhole has done nothing but spewing hate speeches and officially introducing a thug mentality into the polity, while causing confusion in every sector of our national life, including the Federal Executive Council, the security system, our legislature as well as in his dysfunctional APC, which as an undertaker, he is finally set to bury.
“Since Oshiomhole assumed office, the nation has witnessed various unimaginable constitutional infractions, including the invasion of;Benue State House of Assembly and the Ekiti state Government House by APC-Controlled federal security agencies, the escalated harassment of federal legislators and persons perceived to be averse to APCs’ re-election bid; the siege at the residences of Senate President Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu by security agencies as well as the recent invasion of the National Assembly by security operatives,” it said. PDP urged “Nigerians and the international community to note the activities of Mr. Oshiomhole, as being directed by the Presidency, the party hold firmly that they are fighting a lost battle as they cannot cow Nigerians into changing their resolve to end this nightmare by voting the APC out and returning our nation to the path of peace, national cohesion and economic prosperity, on the platform of the repositioned PDP, come 2019.” https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/08/12/stop-your-obsession-with-senate-presidency-pdp-tells-oshiomhole/amp/

Politics › NASS Invasion: Police IG Seeks Osinbajo's Nod To Search Lawal Daura's House.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 10:12pm On Aug 09, 2018 |
Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, is seeking the permission of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, to search the residence of Lawal Daura, sacked director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), TheCable can report.
Osinbajo ordered the dismissal of Daura on Tuesday following the invasion of the National Assembly Complex.
The acting president had summoned Daura and Idris to the presidential villa in Abuja over the raid of the parliament.
Daura was later handed over to the police and whisked away to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Abuja while Mathew Seyeifa, a DSS director from Bayelsa who is next in line to him in the order of seniority, was appointed head of the agency in acting capacity.
In a letter seen by TheCable, Idris said Daura is currently under house arrest in Abuja.
He said an intelligence team of the police had quizzed the sacked DSS DG who had made some disclosure.
Idris said Daura claimed that he acted on the intelligence that some persons were planning to smuggle arms into the national assembly but wondered why Daura did not get clearance from Osinbajo or share his findings with sister security agencies.
He wrote: “The principal suspect, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura, was formally arrested and interrogated in line with the allegation made against him.
“Following the interrogation by our intelligence operatives, the following facts emerged:
“That on 7/8/2018, the suspect Lawal Musa Daura illegally used his position as the then director general of Department of State Security Service conspired with his officers and men who wore hoods and masks, invaded the national assembly complex thereby preventing and forcing the peaceful members and staff of the national assembly from gaining access to the complex without any element of crime committed or an invitation by the leadership of the national assembly.
“That the primary suspect. Mr Lawal Daura, illegally used his position as the then director-general of the Department of State Services to conspire with his officers and men who wore hoods and masks to invade the National Assembly Complex, thereby preventing members of the national assembly from gaining access to the complex without any element of crime committed.
“The DSS personnel acted like mercenaries hire to carry out execution… There is need to search the houses and premises of all the identified suspects.
“All communication gadgets such as computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices of the suspects will be thoroughly analysed.”
He accused the intelligence officer of conspiring with armed masked men to whip up sentiments against the federal government.
Idris said from the statements the sacked DSS DG made during interrogation, it is possible that he acted the script of “highly-placed politicians”.
Idris also appealed to the acting president to order that those who partook in the operation be released to the police for interrogation.
“It is crystal clear that the principal suspect Lawal Daura may be acting the script of some highly placed politicians to achieve some selfish political goals hence his unilateral and unlawful decision to invade the National Assembly complex,” he wrote.
“As it stands, the principal suspect Lawal Daura is undergoing further interrogation at our facility and is currently placed on house arrest at a private property awaiting further directives from Your Excellency.” https://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-igp-seeks-osinbajos-nod-search-dauras-house

APC national leader, Sen Bola Tinubu described PDP as a party with no vision “that believes in sharing and looting the treasury”, adding that Buhari was on course to salvage the country from 16 years of misrule and decay. Did Tinubu mean what he just said or was he making mockery of Akpabio who's just an hours old in APC? But, come to think of it; Victor Attah governed Akwa Ibom for 8years, but now in APC. Godswill Akpabio governed Akwa Ibom for 8years but now in APC also. 8 + 8 = 16. Who then destroyed Akwa Ibom for 16years? In a remark Akpabio explained that he joined the APC to assist in bringing peace and prosperity in Nigeria, adding that his nationalistic spirit would not allow him to conspire against the FG. Akpabio the peacemaker and prosperity bringer we hail thee. So, Akpabio's sin which is as red as scarlet before is now so white like snow? Our God is really a wonderful God.

Politics › NASS Invasion: Arrest Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Akpabio, Others - Arewa Youth Tells FG by BeeBeeOoh(op): 7:52pm On Aug 08, 2018 |
Two Northern groups, Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) and the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have called on the Federal Government to investigate suspected collaborators in the invasion of the National Assembly, on Tuesday.
In separate statements issued and signed by the President of the groups, Abdulazeez Suleiman and Shettima Yerima for NEN and AYCF, respectively, they said “the action taken by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on former DSS DG Lawal Daura, should be extended to co-conspirators, which they claimed inluced, APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, Godswill Akpabio, Abba Kyari and host of others.”
According to the NEN “While welcoming the prompt action by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, we at the Northern Emancipation Network believed that Lawal Daura couldn’t have acted alone in such monumental national disgrace.
“To avoid making Daura a scapegoat in a lethal power play that is already putting the image of Nigeria to question in the eyes of the international community, other conspirators should also be booked.
“It should be recalled that Senator Abu Ibrahim had insisted openly that there would never be peace unless the subsisting leadership of the National Assembly is changed.
“In sane climes, such inflammatory unguarded utterances are not condoned, especially when they are followed by action.
“We commend the Nigerian public especially the press and the civil society for rising up promptly and standing firm to save the nation’s democracy.
“We call on the international community to intensify viligance on Nigeria as the 2019 round of fresh elections draws near,” the statement read from NEN.
AYCF on its part said, “Our close look at the unfolding siege on the National Assembly in a desperate bid to launch a coup against a democratically-elected Senate President Bukola Saraki was a smear on decorum, antithetical to democracy and its institutions. This clear case of treasonable felony against our collective conscience is condemnable in the strongest of words. It has once again ridiculed our image as a democratic and independent nation.
“We suspect enemies of democracy behind the desperate bid to use force in grabbing power out of the hand of the Senate President.
“We commend acting President Yemi Osinbajo’s prompt response to the brigandage of the Lawal Daura’s gestapo style of truncating democracy.
“We call for stiff sanctions by way of arrests of other collaborators in this national ridicule, notably Abba Kyari Senator Abu Ibrahim, senators Adamu Abdullahi, Godswill Akpabio, Ahmed Lawan, Adams Oshiomhole and Abba Kyari, in order to send the right signals that the long arm of law is set to catch up with the lawbreakers in our midst.
“We call for the immediate setting up of a special panel of Inques to deal with this brazen impunity. Meanwhile, we still look forward to series of arrests of other principal suspects in this uncivilised militarisation and impunity against the Senate President and the institution of the National Assembly, whether within or outside the corridors of power.
“We make bold to say that any action short of arresting the political desperados behind this uncivilised, disgraceful incident at the National Assembly and against the Number Three most-respected office in the land, should be resisted by our compatriots
“We urge the acting President to stick to his guns regarding efforts to ensure compliance with constitutional provisions and dealing ruthlessly with abuse of office by any government official, no matter how highly-placed”. http://dailypost.ng/2018/08/08/nass-invasion-arewa-youths-want-tinubu-abba-kyari-akpabio-oshiomhole-others-arrested/ |

Politics › Nigeria Needs Another Iron Leader Like Abacha, He's Still The Best - Gen. Onoja by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:28am On Aug 08, 2018 |
Former military governor of Katsina and Plateau State, Gen Lawrence Anebi Onoja has stated that Nigeria needs another ‘iron leader’ like late dictator, General Sani Abacha.
Onoja said the situation in Nigeria needed a man with ‘iron fist’ so as to save the nation from total collapse.
Speaking exclusively with DAILY POST on Tuesday in his Abuja home, the elder statesman, who would clock 70 on Friday, lamented that it was so sad Nigerian leaders were leaving the country worse than they met it.
The former Principal Staff Officer to the late Abacha said Nigeria was now a lawless nation that a man could stock N2 billion in his room and would walk freely on the streets without being arrested and forced to face the law.
He said, “He (Abaccha) was an effective leader, I keep telling people this. You know Abacha was the one who built the national hospital. Do you know under Abacha, dollar was N85 for five years under the advice of the late Prof Aluko?
“Do you know that under Abacha you don’t have to go to America or UK, you would have to look towards Russia or China because he felt the Americans were cheating us? Apart from the fact some overzealous staff were doing certain things which he didn’t know about, I would rate him high above those who had ruled us.
“We need a man like that, we need a no-nonsense man like him. Nigeria was once described by an expert as a lawless country and I agree with him.
“It would interest you to know that there are three ingredient of democracy, one is patriotism, the other is rule of law and accountability but none exists in this country,
“People don’t account for money being given to them. People think about their family and not the country they are elected to serve.
“If you go to countries like Indonesia and China, their founding fathers used iron hands.
“You can’t lead a country where there is no law. Where people would keep two billion in their house and nobody is saying anything.
“I think Nigeria needs a man with iron hand like Abacha. This is my personal opinion, not because I served under him but because I think this country needs a man with hard-fist,” the soft-spoken British-trained infantry general said. http://dailypost.ng/2018/08/08/nigeria-needs-another-iron-leader-like-abacha-hes-still-best-gen-onoja/Lalasticlala, Mynd44
