This is no longer news nah, it has been happening for years. Back then in my sec. sch, our intro-tech master samples both students and teachers in his lab because the lab is in an isolated area. We were like 3 students who knew this and we dare not talk even if we talk, we can't prove it.

I've sometime ago eavesdrop girls between the age of 15-16years talking about abortion and I couldn't believe my ears I swear to God, I was just looking at them and i couldn't help but ask God to help me as a young man because i cannot pray not to have a girl child. Make no mistake, I love girl child but, MAY GOD HELP THE GIRLS OF THIS GENERATION.

Pertaining the two people in the video, they did not started doing it today, they've been doing it for a very long time and they will not stop it today. You don't know how these young girls crave for matured AmstelRock.

It has been happening years and I don't think it will ever stop.

Politics › "Abuja Has Never Been This Unsafe" - Reps Summon Mohammed Bello Over Insecurity by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:21pm On Nov 09, 2021
The house of representatives has summoned Mohammed Bello, the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), over the insecurity in Abuja.

The resolution was passed during a plenary session on Tuesday after the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance moved by Toby Okechukwu, deputy minority leader of the house.

The nation’s capital has seen a surge in the activities of gunmen in recent weeks.

While leading the debate on the motion, Okechukwu told his colleagues that urgent steps must be taken to protect lives and property in the FCT.

He also lamented the dilapidated state of infrastructure in the country’s capital, noting that even streetlights have been left unrepaired.

“Abuja has never been as unsafe as it is today due, among others, to the influx of bandits and other criminals, lack of modern security infrastructures in the city centre and the satellite towns, and non-maintenance of available ones, including CCTV installations and as little as streetlights,” he said.

“There are concerns that the poor city management bedevilling the FCT is resulting in obvious disorderliness and widespread deterioration, with serious concern the indiscriminate allocation of lands without a matching infrastructural development; and acute lack of infrastructure in the satellite towns and the resort by tax-paying citizens to self-help in territory that should ordinarily model rural development in Nigeria.”

The lawmaker also accused the FCT administration of allocating lands in green areas “in clear breach of the FCT Master Plan”.

“Concerned about the worsening poor waste management practice in the FCT, including dearth and poor maintenance of waste treatment plants, despite Minister of State, FCT’s claim of N8 billion annual expenditure on waste management in the FCT,” he said.

“Also worried about the far-reaching consequences of the absence of a full complement of the FCTA’s administrative structures for about two years since the appointment of the FCT minister, including the non-appointment of mandate secretaries, equivalents of commissioners at state level, to form the FCT executive council.”

The motion was unanimously adopted after it was put to a voice vote by Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house.

Politics › How Nigerian Banks Helped Maina To Steal Pensioner's ₦2 Billion by BeeBeeOoh(op): 6:17am On Nov 09, 2021
The judge says the two banks ought to be charged as Mr Maina's co-accused and their licences withdrawn for their roles in serving as conduits for stealing pensioners’ funds.

A Federal High Court judge, Okon Abang, on Monday, revealed the roles two Nigerian banks played in the N2 billion pension fraud perpetrated by a former chairperson of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina.

PREMIUM TIMES reported earlier that the judge sentenced Mr Maina to eight years imprisonment in his judgement at the end of two-year trial on Monday.

The judge said the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Fidelity Bank Plc were used by Mr Maina as “conduit” to defraud pensioners.

Noting that the convict’s fraudulent activities “ruined” many homes in the country, Mr Abang said the two banks ought to have been charged alongside Mr Maina for serving as “conduits” through which the stolen funds were channelled.

In the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/256/2019, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged that Mr Maina used fictitious names to open and operate various bank accounts. He also recruited his relatives that were bankers to operate fake bank accounts through which illicit funds were channelled.

“UBA and Fidelity Bank Plc should have been arraigned with the convict for illegal transactions,” Mr Abang held, adding that “their licences ought to have been withdrawn.”

“The banks benefitted from the proceeds of illegal transactions. UBA and Fidelity Bank provided the channels with which the convict (Mr Maina) used in defrauding the federal government,” Mr Abang also said.

He said the banks abdicated their responsibilities by failing to carry out due diligence to establish the true identities of persons in whose names Mr Maina opened and operated the fictitious bank accounts.

Nigeria in urgent need of national rebirth

The court noted the prevalence of monumental financial fraud in Nigeria’s public sector, calling for drastic measures to tackle the problem.

“The facts of this case portray the moral decadence of the society we live in. I think we need a National rebirth of guaranteed regeneration,” the judge said.

Mr Abang said while the convict lived in opulence at the expense of pensioners, his victims died in penury in Nigeria.

“Having considered the monumental fraud of how the pension funds were stolen, over N2.1 billion by the 1st Defendant (Mr Maina), it is a clear case that the convict is inhumane, heartless and has no compassion for the pensioners.

“Meanwhile, the convict, through the assistance of UBA and Fidelity Bank Plc, deprived the pensioners that gave their all to this country in their youthful age, their legitimate earnings.

“Whereas the convict was feeding fat on their sweat faraway in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), buying choice properties, driving bulletproof cars, living in affluence beyond his legitimate earnings.

“An abnormal situation requires drastic actions to send a message to those that believe in dishonesty to have a rethink; turn a new leaf.

“Dishonesty is an endemic disease in this country, that requires urgent treatment if we are to make any headway in this country,” the court declared.

‘Maina was hearless’

In the judgement that lasted four hours on Monday, the judge said Mr Maina treated hapless pensioners with “disdain and levity.”

While underscoring the plight of the pensioners whom the official stole from, Mr Abang said, “Some have suffered and died while waiting for their reward.”

“The facts of this case are sordid, immoral, and morbid,” the judge noted, adding that, “the facts portray the moral decadence in Nigeria.”

He said Mr Maina could not have earned the sum of N2 billion when his salary as a civil servant was a little above N300, 000 per month.

“The convict’s salary as a civil servant was a little above N300, 000, and could not have amounted to N2 billion even if he was saving all his salaries for 35 years,” the judge observed.

Reviewing the testimonies of witnesses in the suit, the court held that Mr Maina’s only defence witness, Ngozika Ihuoma, “testified on irrelevant issues” that were not related to the charges against Mr Maina.

The judge noted that EFCC’s nine witnesses “proved the prosecution’s case beyond reasonable doubt,” leading to Mr Maina’s conviction and sentencing on Monday.

‘Chequered history’

“This matter has a chequered history,” Mr Abang said of the drama that characterised Mr Maina’s trial.

Mr Maina had jumped bail twice in the course of the trial. He was recently arrested in Niamey, Niger Republic, where he had fled.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how a senator, Ali Ndume, was briefly jailed after he failed to provide Mr Maina, whom he had stood surety for. Mr Ndume spent five days at the Kuje correctional centre before he was granted bail.

Maina, firm to return about N2 billion within 90 days
In the verdict, the judge ordered Mr Maina to return N1 billion to the coffers of the federal government within 90 days from Monday.

Mr Maina’s company, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, the second convict, was ordered to refund the sum of N183 million as well as $223,000 to the federal government winnin 90 days from Monday.

Mr Maina’s eight years sentence would take effect from October 25, 2019, the date he was arraigned.

The company would be wound up and all its assets forfeited to the federal government, the judge ruled.

Other property forfeited to the federal government by the convicts are a bulletproof Range Rover, and houses located at Jabi and Life Camp parts of Abuja

Plea for mercy

In his plea for leniency, Mr Maina’s lawyer, Olusegun Jolawo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), urged the judge to give the convict a “second chance.”

Mr Jolawo premised his plea for clemency on the grounds that his client was battling with ill-health, despite being the “breadwinner of his immediate and extended family.”

Admitting that Mr Maina had made some “bad decisions” including jumping bail twice, the lawyer said his client was remorseful.

“With all humility, we urge the court to impose the minimum possible punishment,” Mr Jolawo pleaded.

Maina speaks

Before the sentence was handed down, Mr Maina was given the opportunity to articulate his plea for mercy.

“My Lord, I want to apologise for anything that I may have done,” the convict said.

Mr Maina ,who walked into the courtroom, aided by prison officials, said: “I also want to inform My Lord that I have a tumour which needs to be operated on urgently.”

Flanked on both sides by armed prison personnel who shielded him from the horde of cameras that were stationed outside the courtroom, Mr Maina was seen acknowledging cheers from his friends and associates as he walked into a waiting van after he was sentenced.

Phones › 5G: Deployment Won't Affect Nigerians Health - NCC Assures NASS by BeeBeeOoh(op): 6:46pm On Nov 08, 2021
The Executive Vice Chairman of the National Communication Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta has again assured Nigerians of the safety of their health with the proposed 5G network.

Danbatta gave the assurance when he appeared before the National Assembly joint committee on Communications to defend his commission’s 2022 budget proposal.

The NCC’s response was sequel to the fear raised by some members of the joint committee about the fears being expressed by Nigerians over the deployment of the new technology.

Danbatta said the agency proposed to generate N632.39bn in 2022 from the sale of 5G spectrum to telecommunications firms, among other revenue sources.

He said, “The revenue would be realised through the sales of 5G spectrum, fines among others.

“Concerning the fears about the 5G spectrum, we share the same concern because it is justified and we have been sensitising Nigerians about the safety of the new technology. The 5G network we are going to launch has no harm.”

“Up till date, there is no credible evidence about the health hazard of the 5G technology, therefore it is safe.”

He added that the 5G Spectrum network was good for the economy and the nation’s social transformation.

He said, “There is no medical evidence from the World Health Organisation indicating any harmful effect of the spectrum on the health of the end users.

“NCC has enjoined Nigerians at the national level to disabuse their minds on the purported harmful effect of the spectrum and we will continue to sensitise them on the spectrum until everybody embraces the use of the 5G network,”
he explained.

The Executive Vice Chairman also disclosed that with the launch of Computer Incidence Response Team, telecommunications networks across the country are secured against any form of cyber attack.

“Recently, not up to a month ago, the commission unveiled its computer incidence responsive which is a certified round protection for cyber attacks against telecommunication network.

“I am very very proud to bring this information to the knowledge of the general public, that all over the country our computers are secured from cyber attacks.

“This effort is going to be intensified in order to ensure the safety of our computers,” he noted.

For the commission’s main budget, he said a sum of N86.2bn was proposed for recurrent expenditures, N29.36bn is for Capital while N2.55bn was earmarked for Special Projects.

Danbatta, while defending his agency’s budget before the Senate MTEF/FSP panels in September, had said, the agency could generate up to N400bn from the spectrum auction next year.

Danbatta said his agency projected a budget of N162bn for 2021. He, however, added that in the first quarter of 2021, “we have exceeded that amount because we were able to generate N181bn.”

“This is because two of our mobile network operators, the MTN and Airtel, requested for spectrum and that really gave us a lot of revenue.”

The NCC boss had said, “Each slot of the 5G spectrum is going for an exact price of N75bn. However, in an auction, it can go as high as N100bn.

“The exact price for the Spectrum auction, in 2022 will give the Federal Government, N300bn. When the projected revenue is added to it, we are expecting well over N400bn because it is an auction.

Politics › 2023: SWAGA Will Save APC From Embarrassing Defeat - Senator Adeyeye by BeeBeeOoh(op): 1:36pm On Nov 08, 2021
Former Minister of Works and the National Chairman, South-west Agenda for Tinubu 2023 presidential ambition (SWAGA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has said the group has started aggressive mobilisation of voters across the state to save the All Progressives Congress (APC) from imminent defeat in the 2022 governorship election.

Adeyeye said the APC-led government of Governor Kayode Fayemi has disappointed the people, describing SWAGA as the only saving grace for the party, “which commands the respect of aggrieved party members and the public.”

The group leader stated this in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, at the weekend while addressing APC members at the conclusion of the mobilisation efforts of the group across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The former minister expressed regret that the APC in the state has lost popularity despite being the ruling party owing to alleged politics of hatred and alienation being played by those loyal to Fayemi.

Adeyeye said: “SWAGA is now a movement that has taken over Ekiti State. If they conduct any primary for governorship in the state and presidency today, SWAGA will win. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who we are promoting is a man who doesn’t forget his people unlike betrayers that we have here. So SWAGA is the right way to tread.

“They said it is direct primary, and that makes us happy. They won’t be able to rig any election. The executives loyal to Governor Fayemi are fake; we are the authentic ones that conducted the ward, local government and state congresses in line with the guidelines of our party, others were imposed.

“Let us begin the grassroots politicking. Don’t be afraid of anybody, this government has got to its twilight. Don’t be deceived by their antics, nothing good will come from them again.

“Instead of going out to canvass for votes, they are doing their permutations on laptop computers, and that has always been their idea, but we are in the streets working because we know the value of our people.”

Also reacting to the need for the state APC to be rejigged and be more united, the state Chairman of SWAGA, Senator Tony Adeniyi (SAN), said the large turnout of APC members had confirmed the group’s acceptability in the state.

Meanwhile, a pro-APC movement in Ekiti State, ‘Just Keep on Following Group’, has warned the party’s governorship aspirants and their handlers against exhibiting tendencies that could create crises and whittle down the party’s support base ahead of the 2022 poll.

The group Publicity Secretary, Victor Irewolede, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti at the weekend, appealed to party members to exercise restraint and have implicit confidence in the leadership of the party on issue of equity and fairness.

It said it was particularly worried over the baseless and unfounded rumours being circulated that Governor Fayemi and his wife, Bisi, were angling to impose one of the interested aspirants on the party, describing it as a concocted lie that could divide the APC.

43-year-old Man Arrested For Beating Daughter To Death Over Persistent Crying

The Osun State Government on Sunday said it arrested a resident identified simply as Sanjo, in Osogbo, the state capital, for allegedly beating his child to death.

The state Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Olubukola Olaboopo, in a statement, said the 43-year-old suspect, who lived around the Alekuwodo area, had been handed over to the police.

Olaboopo, who claimed the ministry got wind of the crime through a source, said government officials moved in and arrested the suspect.

The statement quoted Sanjo as saying he got married to his wife in 2008 and they had five children.

“It was the third child that I beat unintentionally to death.

“My wife left the child with me and she started crying. I did all I could to placate her, but she kept crying. Something just came upon me and I beat the two months old baby to death. My wife and I buried the child on our farmland,”
he added.

But the statement said Sanjo’s wife, while being interrogated, claimed that four of their five children had died, leaving them with only the last child.

She explained that she conspired with her husband to kill two of the children due to poverty, while they dumped one child around the Osogbo Technical School area.

Olaboopo warned that the state government would not condone acts of violence and child abuse, vowing that anyone caught would face the wrath of the law.

Politics › AnambraDecides: APC Rejects Election Result, Alleges Rigging by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:55pm On Nov 07, 2021
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Anambra State, Mr. Basil Ejidike, has called for the cancelation of the yet-to-be-concluded governorship election in the state.

Ejidike, in a statement Sunday night in Awka, accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), of rigging the election, in connivance with “corrupt-minded INEC officials”.

He said: “What is happening in Anambra is never an election but big time electoral fraud and malpractice.

“We want the whole world to hear our voice that we will never accept the outcome of the Anambra gubernatorial election.

“The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and the sitting Governor, Willie Obiano, manipulated the whole electoral system and we will stand to resist it.

“Ndi Anambra wants an APC Governor and there’s nothing anyone can do to deny them that opportunity.

“We virtually won in all the local government, but Willie Obiano and Charles Soludo, through instrumentality, corrupt-minded INEC officers, subverted the whole process in favour of APGA.

“We want INEC to cancel the election and fix a date for a fresh election devoid of manipulations and malpractices.”

The Anambra APC Chairman vowed to head to the court, should INEC insist on declaring the APGA candidate winner of the governorship election.

According to him, “But if INEC goes ahead to announce the results, we will definitely challenge the election process at the court of law, up-to Supreme Court. Nobody can intimidate us.”

Responding to the allegation, the chairman of APGA in the state, Nobert Obi, who spoke on phone, described the APC accusation as uncalled for, noting that everyone witnessed a free and fair election.

He said: “I don’t want to talk about the accusation. The accusation is uncalled for as everyone witnessed a free and fair election. I don’t know where they got such information from.”
