If he had wanted, the result would have been the other way round but he told people to vote their conscience which they did. All hail our honest, pragmatic and charismatic President who causes haters a lot of pain cos he doesn't even know they exist. |

No wonder his followers are now spectators of elections in far away north and south west. Since they can't have biafra, they can at least console themselves with zoo elections But earlier on, I read on Nairaland that an AIG sent to oversee the rerun election in Kano had allowed thugs to freely operate. Strange that he couldnt influence his boys not to intercept any suspicious vehicle allegedly from Ganduje's supporters. |

nairafame: Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East has warned politicians against shedding blood of Nigerians.
Bruce on Tuesday urged the military and other security agencies to protect Nigerians and prosecute offenders rather than shed blood.
The Bayelsa lawmaker, on his Twitter page, said this in reference to statement by President Muhammadu Buhari ordering the military to ‘kill’ any ballot box snatcher.
According to him, the Armed forces must realize that “they are protectors of Nigerians.”
Bruce wrote: “Nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. Nobody at all. We must direct the armed forces to realize that they are the protectors of the Nigerian people.
“Under no circumstances must they kill, maim, or injure the Nigerian people. Prosecute instead of killing.” Source: https://www.nairafame.com/2019/02/nigerias-election-prosecute-dont-kill.html Desperately defending your ballot box snatchers abi? You should be included. |

Politics › Re: Election Shift: Chris Smith Blames Buhari, Associates, Tells Trump What To Do by Beetobee(f): 1:58pm On Feb 19, 2019 |
ishiamu: Rep. Chris Smith, immediate past chairman of the United States House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, has spoken on the postponement of Nigeria elections.
His reaction was contained in a statement he signed on Monday.
The statement posted on his website reads: “Responsibility for the delay of Nigeria’s presidential election lays squarely with President Muhammadu Buhari and those close to him.
“Actions in advance of the election — including removal of Supreme Court Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen and arson attacks on Independent National Electoral Commission offices in opposition strongholds — are undermining confidence that this election and subsequent gubernatorial elections will be free and fair.
“At a minimum, the presidential election must meet the 2015 standard, which saw a peaceful transfer of power and a statement by the then-sitting president that all bloodshed must be avoided.”
Rep. Smith also called upon the Trump Administration and the State Department to focus greater attention upon Nigeria.
In addition to being sub-Saharan Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria is its biggest economy, and what happens in Nigeria has ramifications beyond its borders,” Smith said.
“Given the magnitude of global problems Secretary Pompeo must contend with, he should consider appointing a Special Envoy for Nigeria vested with full authority.
“The State Department must use all tools at its disposal, including visa denial and sanctioning authority, to hold accountable those who undermine democracy and foment sectarian and ethnic violence.”
Earlier, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), expressed her concern after Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria were postponed to February 23rd.
A statement she signed reads: “This delay impacts Nigeria’s 84 million registered voters who traveled from cities across Nigeria, as well as North America, Europe and Asia, for the sole purpose of making their voices heard at the ballot box.
“My hope is that this delay does not impact voter turnout or harm the credibility and legitimacy of the election, as the postponement could impact local, regional, and international observation missions.
“Nigeria’s electoral institutions played a critical role in ensuring that the 2015 elections were carried out in a transparent, fair, and peaceful manner. I hope to see that tradition continue during this 2019 election cycle.
“Nigeria can serve as an example for the region as a whole and I hope that this postponement does not negatively impact that potential.”

Politics › Re: Elections: Israeli Firm Debunks Alleged Contract To Jam Networks by Beetobee(f): 5:22pm On Feb 16, 2019 |
chieyine: @Naija Politico
HLSI Security Firms and Technologies, an Israeli firm has denied media reports that the company was paid to jam networks on election day.
The company in a statement issued on Saturday and made available to Naija Politico described the allegation as malicious, stressing that the company was a reputable one. Media reports had suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC), through the minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, paid the firm to jam networks on election day.
In the statement, the organisation said it had operated in Nigeria for over 12 years within which time it had not been involved or accused of any action that lacked integrity.
It said that the report and its timing clearly showed malice and the firm therefore urged the public to disregard the allegation.
“The timing of this recycled fiction clearly exposes the intention of those behind it. Undoubtedly, they are those who think that the best way to divert attention from the issues of the day is to fabricate misleading stories few hours to the election.
“Their aims are malicious as they are agents of distortion. We will not be distracted. We know who they are, and they know themselves.
“As professionals we try our best not to interfere with domestic political issues in countries where we operate. We have been working in this country for more than twelve years and at no time have we been accused of any form of integrity deficit. “The status of our firm has been verified over and again and we were never found wanting. Our records in this regard speak for themselves.
“It must be noted that while elections come and go, we will not allow these merchants of mischief to create imaginary baggage on our hard-earned global reputation.
“We are monitoring the situation closely and we will not hesitate to use necessary legal means to defend ourselves.
For avoidance of doubts, the company added that the contract which purpose was maliciously twisted was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The company added that the contract did not breach any law in Nigeria, neither does it affect the nation’s internal security.
“We are happy to release all relevant details that confirm for instance that there is no component of this project that has anything to do with telecommunications not to talk of contemplating jamming telephone signals.
“Again, those who are peddling these obsolete lies are unpatriotic elements whose sole aim is to cause panic and fear among the public.
The public should be aware and ignore them as nothing like that is being contemplated to the best of our knowledge.”
