Non.

I roll with the boys. I detest the Officious manners surrounding the Office of Prefects.

They have to be perfect in some ways.

They have to tuck in the shirts over the shorts.

They have to wear the School cap always.

They have to wear the School Tie always.

They have to eat at the Cafeteria the School provided.

They have to always be at the Assembly ground.

They are always Yes-boys/girls to the Teachers.

I can go on and on.

I don't like most of these things

Australia and Chile have both industrialised through their agriculture, mining and service industries. Industrialised doesn't just mean manufacturing; it means having an organised and educated society that can manage the country effectively, from healthcare and education to transportation and the central government.

In the 1980s, manufacturing made up 44% of Nigeria's GDP. The country had a textile industry valued at $12 billion. Nigeria assembled 150,000 automobiles and was on the threshold of becoming a developing industrialising nation with steel, aluminium, and petrochemical companies under development to support the mature manufacturing industry.

So what happened? The country didn't have an effective supply chain to support the process industries; t

U better revisit ur principle b4 u born... the teacher with whom the child spends most of the active day with-u now say the teacher should not discipline d child at all.. that he should always report to u.. is ur child his only student? If ur child beats another child, so they should tell u first and u may decide not to do anything.. won't the other child just take his revenge on his own next time

The right person for nigeria would be one who takes us off oil , cuts national assembly budget, cuts presidential villa budget, cuts the size of the civil service, removes subsides on power and let the discos charge above N250 per kwh for everyone (and prosecute power thieves hard), and really fights corruption

I doubt your candidate or their candidate were offering the above, because it means you people will cry oppressor. Nigerians no like hard road to development, which is why tinubu is taking loans to mittigate things. cheesy.
EducationRe: UK Cuts Post-Study Work Period For Foreign Graduates From 2027 by being(m):
Very correct.. this is what @mrvitalis needs to note
No matter ur export level, u must not demotivate local production.. export prices can drop and u have a crises which was the issue in 2016. Population explosion can also lead to a crises if u depend only on exports.
nairalanda1:
Yep, and they stole from Singapore, the USA, and many of their former colonies who are doing well.

Nigeria's problems started when we refused, at independence, to do what South Korea, who at 1960 was behind Senegal in per captia GDP...did . An economy based on industrial growth and development

Instead we did as the USSR did. Sell resources, import consumer goods, including the ones we could make at home. At least we had the good sense to end subsides on food, otherwise we would have long since collapsed economically. Beyond the awful state we are in now

BTW If these pple were richer, they would want to buy new clothes and so d traders will be selling new clothes(which has higher value) and they will be making even bigger millions !

Don't be quick to shut your friend up.. U should try or ask those who have tried to tap into.these opportunities, they run into different challenges that should not be there just cos it is Nigeria. A lot of those challenges should have been taken care of by the govt.. yes it is the function of the govt to create a good enabling environment for businesses.. of course pple still do well with businesses in Nigeria, but the number should be like a thousand times more if there was a good environment

quote author=helinues post=136917167]In Africa, that's a tradition for the second hand foreign clothes.

My own curiosity is, if we have Tailors that are sewing our native wear which they look glamorous, why can't those tailors start buying whatever materials they are using for the foreign clothes and start producing it here.

The shoe makers as well, why should we still be spending extra in getting foreign shoes when we have creative shoe makers across Nigeria?

Bro, it's because educational courses like vocational training center is not effective in Nigeria. If there are more tailor equiped with tailoring equipments, the price of sewing cloth will crash.

Those are the things our local representatives should be doing, the senators, HOR, HOA members
The price of sewing clothes should NOT crash pls.. We are not even paying them enough just like every other blue collar job that we underpay in Nigeria cos we underrate them... rather what can bring down prices are economies of scale, better infrastructure like cheaper power
FashionRe: Video Of Nigerians Rushing After 3rd Grade Clothes by being(m): 9:56pm On Sep 25, 2025
Cos interestingly the imported is cheaper and of higher quality.. this happens with a lot of agric products and clothes.. If the govt does not have an intelligent way of discouraging imports and encouraging local production, this level of import demand will continue..

This is really unfortunate. We need to hear from the military and security authorities what they are doing about it.
Not them.. but from the c-in-c himself on why heads have not rolled
Rather than state police, why not regional police eg SW police force, SE police etc. The head will be subject to a council with the governors of the zone, FG rep and the IG rep being council members of the zonal police force.
State police is going to be very expensive for most states and subject to the nepotism & recklessness of the gov

Note that bonds/tbs do not maximize the 20m
PoliticsRe: Local Production: Rice Mills Collapsing by being(m): 6:32am On Aug 28, 2025
Exactly it's complicated.. our production costs make us not have any comparative advantage most of the time..and so prices of locally produced goods are usually higher than imported ones which are also of higher quality... Yet, if cos of this, d nation then tow the line of importing everything, the little FX from d little crude export we do can never be enough to fill in the import demand that then arises. It means some people will not be able to buy some things they need. At the end, there is a lower avg standard of living than in the previous scenario of buying local goods at higher prices.
persius555:
The fact is simple. Nigeria cannot compete with other nations when it comes to production.
Government needs to subsidize cost of production like other nations are doing not giving out money to portfolio farmers. It'll take years of investment before we'll start to see results that'll be sustainabie.

At the moment, the government cannot continue to allow its citizens go hungry because some farmers want leverage on farm production.
A nation filled with hungry citizens is more dangerous than allowing inflow of fireign rice.

It's a complex balancing act that needs intelligent approach.
