Religion / Re: 700 Club's Pat Robertson Says Haiti Paying For 'pact To The Devil' by BellaRouge(f): 7:52am On Jan 15, 2010
I watched CNN for a few hours last night and had tears falling down my cheeks just seeing the severity of the disaster. There were dead bodies on the ground, injured people screaming for help and mothers crying holding their injured babies.  It was very a disheartening image. For Pat Robertson to simply conclude that all this suffering was as a result of the Haitians' "pact with the devil" is upsetting and appalling. What exactly is he trying to insinuate? That deadly natural disasters are God's wrath on evil and sinful people?  Is Robertson trying to explain to us why God does the things he does? Only God knows why such things happens. Did he not make similar comments about Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 attacks? Robertson's radical opinions are merely that- HIS opinions.

Assuming we were explaining the event from a scientific point of view, the 7.0 magnitude earthquake was caused by friction between two tectonic plates. Naturally, when high magnitude earthquakes occur, buildings collapse causing injuries and deaths. The tectonic plates did not decide to move because of the Haitians' "pact with the devil." Such events are called natural disasters because they occur as a result pre-existing natural hazard. Simple!

Since Mr. Robertson is well informed about the motives behind God's action, why doesn't he enlighten us by explaining why seemingly "good" people are suffering all over the world? Heck, I'm sure he'll come up with one of his theories as an explanation. There really is a fundamental flaw in his thinking.
Music/Radio / Work-out Music! by BellaRouge(f): 6:42am On Jan 15, 2010
Hello Ladies and Gents!

So I work-out at a gym about 4-5 times. It's almost impossible for me to work-out without my mp3 player as my music keeps me going especially during my cardio exercises. The problem is I'm getting sick of my work-out playlist and have been searching for new songs to listen to as I work-out. Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck finding songs that fuel my adrenaline.

My question to you Nairalanders is: What songs gets you pumped and excited? Any suggestions are welcome regardless of music genre. I listen to hip/hop, reggae, soca, fuji, etc etc

A few songs on my playlist include;
- Overkilling remix- M.I and co
- Yankuluya- Timaya
- Boom Boom Pow- Black Eyed Peas
- Decale Gwada
- Max it up- Destra
- Pon de Replay- Rihanna

Gracias in advance!  smiley
Foreign Affairs / Re: Why Do Nigerians Look Up To America? by BellaRouge(f): 4:52am On Sep 21, 2009
Firstly, I don't agree with your assumption that Nigerians look up to America. Then, assuming you were correct, all you've done in your post is make a list of claims based on your interpretation of America's actions, not facts. Lastly, as humans, when we hold someone in high esteem, we generally don't admire them for their negative qualities but their positive qualities and actions. After all, no one's perfect. Despite your list of America's "faults", America is a nation that has undoubtedly accomplished a lot of things.

Music Business / Re: P Square Out With An Outrageous Album by BellaRouge(f): 11:03am On Sep 19, 2009
I lurveee P-Square to death but I'm not really feeling this new album. I've heard a a few tracks off the album and I was a little bit disappointment. I still love them though because they're still my future hubbies. Maybe the songs will eventually grow on me.
Romance / Re: Is It A Crime For A Man To Be A Virgin Till He Get Married?. by BellaRouge(f): 10:43am On Sep 19, 2009
Nope, it's not a crime. It's a matter of personal preference.

Mr. Sege
Soooo these girls have "crushes on you" and "hate you so much" at the same time, huh? Buhahahahahaha that takes special skills man.
Well, you want these ladies to stop crushing on you, right? That's easy- just tone down the sexiness a little. Stop shaving, don't cut your hair, don't brush your teeth- that should solve your problem.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Jimmy Carter: Obama Heckler Is A Racist by BellaRouge(f): 10:28am On Sep 19, 2009
Congressman Wilson was definitely out of line for his blatant disrespect of the position of the Presidency but in his defense, he was just caught up in the heat of the moment. The issue of healthcare reform is the hot button issue at the moment. I'm not all that suprised that an event like that occurred as a result of the healthcare debate. Though I understand Carter's argument about racism but concluding that Wilson's comments were based on racist sentiments seems a bit farfetched to me. Wilson apologized, Obama (the person who should be the most offended by Wilson's outcry) accepted his apology. I think it's time we moved on.

Health / Re: Pls, What Is The Best Treatment For Eczema Skin Disease by BellaRouge(f): 9:26am On Sep 19, 2009
I suggest you go see a dermatologist who would most likely prescribe a topical ointment to help treat your eczema. I know eczema can be a bother. It's really a matter of trial and error though. A certain treatment might work for one person and not another. Best of luck. I hope you find something that works for you!

Family / Re: You Must Get Pregnant Before We Can Wed! by BellaRouge(f): 6:59am On Oct 28, 2007
I dont see anything wrong with a man making such a request. Some men really want kids and that is their way of ensuring that their bride-to-be is capable of having children. It's perfectly understandable.

Fashion / Re: Ear Piercing: Good Or Bad Thing? by BellaRouge(f): 5:02am On May 16, 2006
Body piercings, regardless of if they are on a male or female, are a means of self expression, like tattoos. Guys with earrings are non-conformists because they dont mind deviating from society's set norms of the "typical guy." I really do applaud them for that because not conforming to what the soceity expects of you promotes individuality. Personally, I dont have a problem with piercings except when it becomes very distractive to other people.

Am I going to get my eyebrows or lips pierced? Absolutely not, because I dont care much for the pain involved.
Family / Re: Should Wives Submit To Their Husbands? by BellaRouge(f): 4:34am On May 16, 2006
Wives should not have to submit to their husbands. "To respect" and "to submit to" are two different things. In a marriage both the husband and the wife should respect each other, but no one should be superior to the other; equality is key!

Education / Re: Are Men Smarter Than Women? by BellaRouge(f): 2:06am On May 11, 2006
Nope, men are not smarter than women. I guess it depends on the individual. It's just as unfair to say that "men are smarter" as it is to say "women are smarter". Each individual is different.

You can't commit violent crimes when you are locked up in prison either! What makes the death penalty a better option than putting a criminal in jail?

"Violent crimes like Armed robbery, rape, and unjustified destruction of property should be purnished by Death (after you get to place your argument in court)"

Statistics show that the death penalty does not deter crime. Besides, killing someone for whatever reason is murder and murder is never justified. The "an eye for an eye" mentality solves nothing.

PS: Why would you want to impose the Yoruba language on all Nigerian citizens?

Politics / Re: Would You Run For Nigerian Presidency? by BellaRouge(f): 5:34am On May 09, 2006
@ Afeni,

So, if you were to ban the constitution, what set of laws or rules would prevent you from becoming the next Nigerian dictator? By reading your platform, I have to say that your regime sounds more like a dictatorship than anything else. I also detect a hint of communism.

LOL at #11 and #5. Do you really think that is possible to just create a religion? Besides, banning any religion would not only be undemocratic but also unacceptable!

"Imprison and later execute all past heads of States"- Sounds like something that Abacha would do. undecided
