@Rottweiler,
Sorry about the loss of your dad.
I'm surprised to find out that such traditions still exist. It's a bit sad because as you said, there really isnt any significance to such practices.

When I log on to my computer, I usually check my email right away. I dont do the whole "virus scan" deal because I'd like to think that my computer is immune to all viruses.

Car TalkRe: How Much Are Gas Prices In Nigeria? by BellaRouge(f): 2:01am On May 03, 2006
Gas prices are ridiculously high everywhere! Personally, I think that everyone should boycott gas and ride bikes (or walk) everywhere- demand for oil would go down and prices would also decrease (and you get good exercise.)

EducationRe: Post Your Research by BellaRouge(f): 2:30am On Apr 03, 2006
I've been doing some research on something called "extraordinary renditions" for my American Public Policy class.
In short, "Extraordinary Renditioning" is a CIA endorsed program that enables CIA agents to render terrorist suspects to a country where torture is an acceptable interrogation tactic. It's sort of like outsourcing torture. As of right now, it's not illegal but the "Torture Outsourcing Prevention Act", which is yet to be passed as a law, would make it illegal.
It's a very interesting topic but the sad part is that I have to write a PAPER on it!

ahhh the normal way now 'rig the election"
I'm sure that fraudulent elections are not the norm in Nigeria. Didnt "rigging" stop a while ago? Besides, how would anyone know if an election is rigged or not?

Nigeria is the land of the impossible. You never know. It's not like Nigerian presidents are elected anyway.
If Nigerian presidents arent elected, then how do they get into office? It's a democracy, isnt it?

Chippla Vandu believes that Nigerian women in government will be less corrupt.
I dont know if women will be less corrupt but I do know that a woman would have a different way of solving Naija's problems. A woman's way might be the right way!

Besides a female Nigerian president would be like a role model to Nigerian women. It would enable women to see that they can have a voice in government.

Your great grand-daughter would be running against my great grand-daughter cool

LiteratureRe: Some Interesting Books You Have Read by BellaRouge(f): 2:38am On Apr 02, 2006
I dont really remember, I just know that it made me cry.

From what I remember, it was about an African American girl who wished she was white. She was a victim of sexual abuse from her father and her mother did nothing to stop it!
At the end of the book, she becomes crazy (literally!). She was talking to herself, she thought she was white. It was just very, very sad!

I bet you'd cry if you read it cry
PoliticsWill Nigeria Ever Have A Female President? by BellaRouge(op): 2:33am On Apr 02, 2006

Hello Nairalanders,

Will Nigeria ever have a female President?

Personally, I don't think that it's going to happen in the next fifty years because it seems like the majority of Nigerian men still view women as "followers" rather than "leaders" angry.

What do you think?

Does a Igbo man have an better chance at the Presidency than ANY woman?

EducationRe: Your School Anthem by BellaRouge(f): 5:16am On Mar 30, 2006
I attended Brainfield Secondary School in Port-Harcourt. I loved that school so much. The teachers used to beat everyone with sticks and umbrella but, it's all good. I remember that I used to cry like a little baby when I was "flogged" cry.

Anyways, the anthem went something like this;

Brainfield College, Brainfield College,
Brainfield college, my dear dream college.

Citadel of morals
Citadel of discipline
Citadel of academic excellence.

Bla, bla, that's all I remember.

Bad- It's way too populated.
