Jobs/VacanciesStaying Motivated When Negativity Seems To Be All Around You by Benissues(op): 5:53am On Jun 06, 2015
IN life, there may be times when negativity seems to surround you, suffocating your dreams and destroying your hope. When that happens, many go through their day being saturated with negativity and accepting it as a way of life. While you can’t always control what happens to you, you can control how you respond to it.

Seek to create a positive environment for yourself and you’ll begin to become more motivated to achieve your dreams and goals. Here are 10 ways to stay motivated through hard times:

1. Have an attitude of expectancy
You will get what you expect. Expect something great to happen for you every day and it will. Say aloud each morning to yourself in the mirror, “I expect something good to happen for me today!”

2. Take control over what you can, and stop worrying about what you can’t Some things are within your control, while other things are not.
Learn to recognize the difference. Refuse to worry about circumstances beyond your control. Don’t allow yourself to become so emotionally entangled that it paralyzes your progress. Things may not always work out perfectly, but the sooner you get over them, the quicker you move on to your next victory. Only you can control your own actions and reactions.

3. Read and listen to positive information
If you fill your mind with uplifting and inspiring information, it will keep you motivated. Go to the bookstore or library today and find at least one book on a positive topic that will give you a boost. You need constant reminders telling you that you are capable of achievement.

4. Be with positive people as often as possible
Negative people and conversations will have you focused on all the wrong things and may take your focus off of your goals. Seek out positive people and don’t engage in negative conversations. Instead, choose to remain neutral or just don’t participate at all. If you find yourself caught in the middle of a conversation that is going in the wrong direction, change the subject to something productive. Try saying something like, “I am focused on finishing this new project. I’m really excited about it.” If you are stuck on the phone with a negative person, you could cut it short by telling them, “I have an important appointment/meeting/conference call in five minutes and I need to finish preparing for it now.”

5. Speak positive affirmations
Words have a creative force. Regardless of what is going on around you, speak out loud what you want to happen. Write out an affirmation that you can say daily and put it up somewhere that you are sure to see it every day, like your bathroom mirror or your refrigerator.

6. Learn from your mistakes, instead of repeating them
We all make mistakes; the key is to learn from them and keep on moving. Conduct regular self-evaluations and examine how you handled situations and what you could do differently next time. Write down possible solutions and outcomes so when you are faced with a problem you can properly think through the best way to handle it.

7. Make a plan
There is a very popular saying: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"

HOW TO KNOW YOU ARE RAISING A GOOD CHILD
He uses “please”, “thank you” and “excuse me on a consistent basis.
He speaks when spoken to
He does not point out other children’s lack of manners
When he doesn’t understand something, he simply says “excuse me?” or “would you repeat that?”
He always knocks on a closed door, particularly one that leads to a bathroom or bedroom.
He removes his cap at a table in a home or restaurant.

Nairaland GeneralMessage For Ladies That Dress Indecently by Benissues(op): 4:01pm On May 25, 2015
Some young ladies arrived a Meeting wearing clothes that were quite revealing their body. Here is what the Chairman told them : He took a good look at them and made them sit. Then he said something that, they might never forget in their life. He looked at them straight in the eyes and said; "ladies, everything that God made valuable in this world is well covered and hardly to see, find or get.

1. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected.

2. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell.

3. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers of rock and to get them, you have to work hard & dig deep down to get them.

He looked at them with serious eyes and said;
"Your body is sacred & unique" You are far more precious than gold, diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too."So he added that, if you keep your treasured mineral just like gold, diamond and pearls, deeply covered up, a reputable mining organization with the requisite machinery will fly down and conduct years of extensive exploration.

First, they will contact your government (family), sign professional contracts (wedding) and mine you professionally( legal marriage). But if you leave
your precious minerals uncovered on the surface of the earth, you always attract a lot of illegal miners to come and mine you illegally.Everybody will just pick up their crude instruments and just have a dig on you just freely like that. Keep your
bodies deeply covered so that it invite professional miners to chase you.

Let us all encourage our friends and daughters to dress well and decent!

A businesswoman has been handed a bill for around £100,000 after a judge ruled that she had deceived her ex-husband into thinking he was the father of the son she gave birth to following fertility treatment. Judge Deborah Taylor ordered the woman to pay £40,000 damages and pick up her ex-husband's lawyers' bills - said to total about £60,000 - after a trial at Central London County Court. Judge Taylor analysed the case at a hearing earlier this week and ruled in favour of the man today.
Politics#vote Your Conscience: Do Not Sell Out……a Solemn Call by Benissues(op): 6:53pm On Mar 20, 2015
VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE: DO NOT SELL OUT……a solemn call.
It is needed I write this piece, cos my heart is bleeding and its few days to the general election, were politicians are joggling and jostling for votes not because of what of they will bring to the table, but a grand plan to hassle power and satisfy their insatiable and gullible stomach, stashing billions of dollars(not Naira) in their Swiss accounts.
Another painful one is the fact that there is re-cycling of the leadership of this nation. A nation where the party youth leader is a septuagenarian (above 70years). Those that told us we are the leaders of tomorrow, fast-forward they are still our leaders smh.
I want us to stand up with one voice and say: No Selling Out……cos we have the power (PVC) to decide our future no one is taking that from us(NIGERIAN YOUTH). And you, I mean you must make conscious effort to decide where the tide will tilt towards, after another four years of waiting for promises made to be fulfilled we are still in the same spot, very pathetic. Not to talk of high rate of insecurity, unemployment (even those that are employed are under-employed), hunger, kidnaping, decadence of the educational sector etc. The question steering us in the face is: Can we continue like this (moving in a vicious cycle) the answer is NO.
This remind me of the last election (2011), where I happen to be a Registration Officer in one the sensitive wards in a northern state, I saw in reality what this so called leaders can do….i was in the middle of two opposition parties chasing me all around with big and fat cash just for me to give-in into their devilish and satanic trick to manipulate results in my ward….anyway that is a story for another day. Then I knew this people do not really have us at heart. It is sardonic and pathetic that even some cannot recite the national anthem (laughable I guess), they do not even know the roads to their wards except during elections.
Remember: You cannot eat your cake and have it. Vote wisely wether TRANSFORMATION or CHANGE.
Good bless Nigeria, God bless Nairaland and God bless Nigerian Youth.

BusinessDangote, Alakija, Rabiu, Adenuga Make N2trn In 2013 by Benissues(op): 12:16am On Jan 03, 2014
The combined net worth of four Nigerian billionaires, Aliko Dangote, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Abdulsamad Rabiu and Mike Adenuga, grew by N2.024 trillion ($12.65 billion) in 2013, according to data released by Forbes yesterday.
The amount is about half of the N4.99 trillion budget put forward by the Federal Government and approved by the National Assembly in the 2013 fiscal year.
Forbes, in a report entitled The Biggest African Billionaire Gainers in 2013, listed Dangote, Africa’s richest man, as the biggest gainer in terms of increase in net worth.
He gained $10.1 billion (N1.62 trillion) in 2013, to end the year with a net worth of $22.9 billion (N3.66 trillion), up from $12.8 billion as at the end of December 2012.
Nigeria’s richest woman
Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, owner of Famfa Oil Limited, was named the fourth biggest gainer in 2013, as her wealth increased by $1.9 billion (N304 billion) to end the year with a net worth of $2.5 billion (N400 billion).
Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman, BUA Group, was named the ninth biggest African gainer in 2013 by Forbes, with a $550 million (N88 billion) increase in wealth to end the year with a total net worth of $1.2 billion (N192 billion).
Nigeria’s second richest man and Chairman of Globacom, Mr. Mike Adenuga, was named the 15th biggest gainer, with a gain of $100 million (N16 billion) to end the year with a net worth of $4.7 billion (N752 billion).
According to Forbes, the biggest catalyst for the increase in Dangote’s net worth was his Dangote Cement shares, which has experienced a 74 per cent run-up over the last 12 months.
Forbes further noted that the increase in Folorunsho Alakija’s net worth is as a result of new information made available to it on the true value of her company’s interest in Agbami, information that had been verified by analysts in the industry.
Rabiu
On Abdulsamad Rabiu, Forbes said: “Rabiu joins the ranks of Africa’s richest and the world’s billionaires for the first time based on success at his BUA Group, whose biggest businesses are sugar refining and cement.
“BUA Group annual revenues are estimated at $2 billion. The group also does business in real estate, steel, port concessions, manufacturing, oil gas and shipping.
“Rabiu, the son of a businessman, set up his own business in 1988, importing rice, sugar and edible oils as well as iron and steel rods.”
Adenuga
Commenting on Adenuga, the Forbes report said: “He built his fortune in oil production and telecom.
“His mobile telecom outfit, Globacom, has over 25 million subscribers in Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.
“He also owns Conoil Producing, a large indigenous oil exploration company.
“Adenuga studied in the United States and went into business for himself in Nigeria, starting by running his mother’s sawmill business, distributing lace and Coca-Cola.
“He hit the big time when the military regime of former President Ibrahim Babangida awarded him construction contracts and his first oil prospecting license with which he became the first Nigerian to strike oil in commercial quantities.”

SportsManchester City Close In On Nigerian Starlet Chidi Nwakali by Benissues(op): 10:17am On Jan 01, 2014
Manchester City are closing in on a deal for 17-year-old central midfielder Chidi Nwakali, Goal can reveal.

MAN CITY LATEST
Nwakali, who was a key figure in the Nigeria squad which won the Under-17 World Cup in November, will fly to Manchester from Lagos with his parents to hold talks with City chiefs on January 2.

If a deal is completed, Nwakali will earn £300,000 a year in wages, fees and add-ons from the day he turns 18 on December 26.

Nwakali is also adept at playing in defence and currently represents Shuttle Sports Academy in Lagos.

The move follows a failed attempt to sign 17-year-old striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who has verbally agreed a deal with Porto amid heavy interest from City.

Iheanacho played alongside Nwakali in Nigeria’s Under-17 World Cup triumph and ended as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.

Diamond Bank Rewards Customers In Special Year-End Draw

Diamond Bank PLC, a leading player in the Nigerian Retail banking space, has announced a year-end special draw, under the DiamondXtra Reward Scheme, to reward loyal customers of its DiamondXtra account. The Draw will hold at the Iron and Building Materials Market, OrileIganmu, Lagos, on Friday, December 27, 2013.

At the Year-end special draw, 35 customers would win N1million each, 1 customer will win N2million and the luckiest customer will win Salary4Life (earns N100,000 every month for 20 years). Continue...

Commenting on the draw, Head, Corporate Communications of the Bank, Mrs. AyonaTrimnell said, “The DiamondXtra account is a special savings account designed for individuals who want to build up their savings gradually. It is an interest-yielding savings account which allows the deposit of both cash and third party cheques. In addition, DiamondXtra account holders receive a cheque book and an ATM card with which they can withdraw from their account at any Diamond Bank branch. It is a simple and straightforward savings account that comes with a low minimum opening amount of N5,000.”

The DiamondXtra Reward Scheme is currently the longest running reward scheme in Nigeria. It was launched in July 2008 in a bid to encourage a savings culture and also to reward customers for their loyalty. The draws are held weekly (every Friday), monthly (every last Friday of the Month) and to mark special occasions as determined by the Bank.

The Salary 4Life is a unique feature of the DiamondXtra account in which Diamond Bank pays the sum of N100,000.00 into the customer’s account every month for the next 20 years. The draws are conducted through an electronic process approved by the National Lottery & Regulatory Commission and the Consumer Protection Council and which is also verified by the renowned auditing firm, KPMG Professional Services. Every N5,000.00 deposited by the customer increases the customer’s chances of winning as the winning tickets are chosen by a random draw.

Amongst the numerous benefits of running a DiamondXtra account is a free access to all Diamond Bank electronic banking channels like Diamond Online, Diamond Mobile and Diamond Dial. DiamondXtra  account holders also enjoy a free life assurance cover of N50,000.

DiamondXtra customers also have access to a secured credit card called the DiamondXtra VISA Credit Card which allows them access to a credit limit of up to 75% of the funds in their account without dipping into valuable savings, hence granting them the privilege of qualifying for the weekly and monthly draws. To enjoy the benefits of the Reward Scheme, existing DiamondXtra account holders must have a minimum of N5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira) in their account. Multiples of ₦5,000 deposits increase the customers’ chances of winning.

Since the reward scheme commenced, over 1,000 loyal customers have been rewarded with cash prizes valued at over N2bn in total.

Technology MarketWhy Obama Can’t Use Iphone by Benissues(op): 9:35am On Dec 06, 2013
Thursday, 05 December 2013 18:42
The troubled mobile phone maker BlackBerry still has at least one very loyal customer: U.S. President Barack Obama.

At a meeting with youth on Wednesday to promote his landmark healthcare law, Obama said he is not allowed to have Apple's smart phone, the iPhone, for "security reasons," though he still uses Apple's tablet computer, the iPad.

Apple was one of several tech companies that may have allowed the National Security Agency (NSA) direct access to servers containing customer data, according to revelations by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The companies deny the allegation.

Obama fought to keep his BlackBerry after coming to the White House in 2009, though he said only 10 people have his personal email address. Neither George W. Bush nor Bill Clinton used email during their presidencies.

BlackBerry, a Canadian company formerly known as Research In Motion Ltd, virtually invented the idea of on-the-go email, but lost its market stranglehold as rivals brought out more consumer-friendly devices, like Apple's iPhone and phones using Google's Android software.

The company recently halted plans to be sold and is trying to chart a new course by focusing on large business and government clients.

EducationVarsity Graduate Forges Gov’s Letter-head Paper by Benissues(op): 5:04pm On Nov 29, 2013
Lafia – The State Security Services (SSS) said on Friday in Lafia that it had arrested a university graduate (names withheld) for allegedly forging the official letter-head paper of the Nasarawa State Governor’s Office.
Mr Ngobiowei Awoikiega, the Assistant Director (Security) of the service in the state, said that the suspect was a graduate of Business Administration from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He said the suspect was arrested in Akwanga, headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state by operatives of the service following a tip-off.
Awoikiega alleged that the suspect used the forged letter-head paper and subsequently forged the signature of the Secretary to the State Government, Zainab Abdulmumin, to introduce himself and one other person whose name could not be disclosed with the intent of gaining employment at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi.
According to him, the suspect has made useful statements on the alleged offence.
“Unknown to officials of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, the management honoured the letter printed on the fake letter-headed paper from the Governor’s Office by offering a provisional employment to his (suspect’s) client.”
Ngobiowei advised the general public to avoid falling victims of the activities of persons with fraudulent intentions.
Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect admitted committing the offence, saying that he did it because he could not secure employment since 2009 after his graduation from the university. (NAN)

HealthProcessed Meat ‘significantly Harms Sperm Quality’ by Benissues(op): 7:41am On Nov 23, 2013
Print  Email
Category: Natural Health Published: Thursday, 24 October 2013 00:00 Written by EDITOR Hits: 1373
MEN, who eat just one rasher of bacon a day could be reducing their chances of becoming fathers. Half a portion of processed meat such as a rasher or a small sausage can significantly harm sperm quality, scientists believe.

Those, who want to boost the odds of having a child should eat fish instead – with species such as cod or halibut appearing to have a particularly dramatic effect on fertility.

The findings add to the growing evidence that a couple’s chances of having children is strongly governed by their lifestyle- with smoking, alcohol and stress having a detrimental effect and exercise and diet enhancing it.

Experts are still unclear why certain foods can harm or promote fertility, but red meat is thought to contain high levels of pesticides and other substances that can interfere with hormones. White fish is rich in zinc, which is believed to boost fertility.

In a study to be presented this week at a meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in Boston, Harvard University researchers compared the eating habits of 156 men undergoing In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment with their partners.

They were each questioned how often they ate a range of foods including processed meat, white meat, red meat, white fish and tuna or salmon. Men who consumed just half a portion of processed meat a day had just 5.5 per cent ‘normal’ shaped sperm cells, compared to 7.2 per cent of those, who ate less.

Men, who had dishes containing white fish at least every other day – or half a portion daily – had far better sperm quality than those, who ate it rarely.

Lead researcher Dr. Myriam Afeiche said, “we found the effect of processed meat intake lowered quality and fish raised quality.”

But Dr. Allan Pacey, chairman of the British Fertility Society, was cautious about the findings.

“The relationship between diet and men’s fertility is an interesting one and there is certainly now convincing evidence that men, who eat more fresh fruit and vegetables have better sperm than men, who don’t,” he said.

“However, less is known about the fertility of men with poor diets and whether specific foods can be linked to poor sperm quality.

“In this instance, the authors link men’s intake of processed meat with the size and shape of their sperm. This may be a real effect, but the study is small and we know that accurately measuring sperm size and shape in the laboratory is fraught with error.

“However, it is already known that high intake of processed meat is linked to other health issues and so advising men to limit their intake of processed food may improve their health generally, as well as, possibly be good for their fertility.”

Last year, Cambridge University researchers calculated that the number of cases of bowel cancer, heart disease and diabetes would drop by 10 per cent if men halved their intake of processed meat.
