CrimeEdo State Head Of Service Kidnapped, Driver Killed - Tribune by Benite(op): 9:13pm On Dec 19, 2020
The crime wave in Benin City, the Edo State capital, took a dive on Saturday evening as the Head of Service, Mr Anthony Okungbowa, was kidnapped.

Tribune Online gathered that Okungbowa, who was appointed HOS by Governor Godwin Obaseki in April, was kidnapped along Oza Road in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.

A source in the Edo Civil Service, who confirmed the incident but asked that he should not be mentioned, disclosed that the gunmen also killed Okungbowa’s official driver before taking him away.

The victim was said to have gone to the locality where he was kidnapped to attend a social event.

“He was kidnapped on his way back to Benin City after attending a social event in Oza. His driver was killed,” the source added.

Another top civil servant who is also close to the kidnapped Head of Service, and worked in tje Ministry of Justice, from where Okugbowa was made the Hhead of Service, also pleading anonymity, simply said “we just got the information. It is true.”

HealthReopen FMC Lokoja, Lawmaker Begs Health Minister - The Nation by Benite(op): 4:02pm On Nov 01, 2020
A member of the House of Representatives from Kogi, Tajudeen Yusuf, has appealed to Federal Government to reopen the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, in the interest of the people of the state.

The lawmaker, representing Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency, made the appeal in a statement obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lokoja.

He said that the closure of the facility for the past four months had affected the health of the people, saying that so many innocent lives have been lost due to the prolonged closure.

Yusuf appealed to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, to use his good office by ordering the reopening of the centre to save residents from avoidable deaths.

“The continued closure has meant more deaths for patients whose health complications would have been better managed at FMC Lokoja,” the lawmaker said.

It would be recalled that armed thugs had in July invaded the hospital and attacked staff, vandalised equipment, furniture and other property of the centre.

The incident forced the management to order the closure of the facility which was also at the centre of a disagreement with the state government over the COVID-19 status of the Chief Imam of Kabba, Alhaji Abubakar Ejibunu

The FMC had referred Ejibunu to the National Hospital Abuja where he tested positive for COVID-19, a development which resulted in a dispute between the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the state government.

The state government immediately rejected the result, saying its Ministry of Health was not carried along in the series of tests conducted on the patient.

But Yusuf, however, argued that the ordinary citizens should not be made to continue to suffer for this, and urged the Federal Ministry of Health to reopen the hospital in the interest of justice and fairness.

“The FMC, Lokoja, the only tertiary federal health facility in the confluence state, offering quality, professional services to indigenes and residents in the state, was closed on the order of the Federal Ministry of Health, following an alleged invasion of the hospital by thugs.

“Since then, our people have been travelling all the way to Abuja or Akure, Ibadan and Lagos for health conditions that could otherwise be treated at FMC, Lokoja.

“Patients with prior medical appointments now face the rigours of travelling, even at the risk of further complicating their health challenges.

“Many indigent patients are now forced to live in precarious conditions and several of those who can afford the trips to Abuja or other cities face increased likelihood of death.

“People from all the three senatorial districts and seven federal constituencies in Kogi State are stridently appealing to the conscience of the minister and others in authority for the reopening of FMC, Lokoja,” the lawmaker said in the statement.

According to him, the senselessness of a few irrational elements should not be the basis for which Kogi residents are punished.

FMC Lokoja has been shutdown for the past 4 months now. Every attempt at reopening the hospital has met stiff resistance by powers that be.
Imagine Minister of Health being begged to re-open the only functional Federal Tertiary hospital in the state. Shows the unserious and unwillingness of our leaders to make adequate health care accessible to the people.

2. The man was a retiree of CBN a d pays the wife N100k and children N50k each every month but they starved him of food. It's his brothers that feeds him.
3. This same daughter asked his out of their house when he came to ask them why they beat up their father.
4. The said girl is in Law School and still behaves stupidly.
5. The man built a house but the wife a d children insisted that he'll be buried behind the house which his immediate brothers and kinsmen object that he be buried in front of his house.
6. Despite the money given to the woman she cooks with firewood upstairs.
7. The woman and children were asking the man's Will to be read while the corpse was still in the mortuary.
8. Anyone that cares should come to Oguta, Imo State to verify for himself or herself.

CrimeGod Punish Me If I Was Involved – Ex-minister Accused Of Stripping Staff Naked by Benite(op): 10:04am On Sep 27, 2020
Former Minister of State for Petroleum, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has called on God to “punish” him, if he was involved in the stripping of four workers at his hotel in Effurun, Uvwie council area of Delta state.

In a press conference held at his country home in Oginibo, Ughelli South council area of the state, Gbagi stressed that the said staff were not employees of the hotel, but “freelancers”, adding that there are records to show to the fact.

The ex-minister has been in the news for the dehumanizing treatment meted on four staff, comprising three women and a male, identified as Gloria Oguzie, Victor Ephraim, Roselyn Okiemute and Archibong Precious, in the past week.

Several rights groups and activists have taken to protest, calling for the arrest and prosecution of the hotelier.

The Inspector General of Police in a statement in Abuja, on Friday, assured that the Police had commenced investigation into the matter and would ensure justice is served, no matter whose ox is gored.

Olorogun Gbagi, however, attributed the trending video and photos to the handiwork of political detractors seeking to truncate his plans to contest for the 2023 gubernatorial race in the state.

“There was nothing as you have read, that happened. The people you saw in those pictures are not staff of my hotel. Legally, documentarily, they are not staff of the hotel. They are freelancers.

“Were you to do a forensic analysis of the video for my body on those pictures, and you find me there, I will resign from politics.

“I invited the Police from Ebrumede to take them. I will never descend to do such (strip people naked). It was politically motivated. I will not strip anybody’s daughter naked or strip any person.

“This, to me, is just a distraction. I am resolute, I am contesting in 2023. Let God punish me if I touched any of the girls or was involved in their stripping. I am prepared. I know what they are planning,” Gbagi stated.

He further disclosed that he had not received any invitation from the Police and that he “will graciously attend any invitation of the Nigerian Police.”

HealthResident Doctors Suspend Nationwide Strike by Benite(op): 8:25pm On Sep 10, 2020
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended the nationwide industrial action.

Dr Aliyu Sokumba who is the President of NARD confirmed this to Channels Television on Thursday evening.

Dr Sokumba disclosed that the union will review the progress made in talks with the Federal Government in two weeks.

On Wednesday, the Federal Government and the doctors reached an agreement in a bid to end the industrial action.

During the meeting which almost took the entire day, NARD had disclosed that it will liaise with the executive council with a view to calling off the strike.

Both parties had been in talks to resolve the issues which led to NARD declaring an end to the country-wide strike.

After the meeting, the Federal said an additional N8.9 billion has been approved to pay up a large chunk of the June 2020 COVID-19 allowance to all health workers across the nation,

This was revealed by Senator Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Ngige stated that the implementation of the payment of the Special Hazard and Inducement Allowance has been concluded, stressing that this has been cash-backed and the mandate sent to the Central Bank of Nigeria for payments to start with effect from September 9.

According to him, this will bring the total disbursement to about N288 billion.

The doctors embarked on the strike to resolve issues bothering on group life insurance for doctors and other health care workers, payment of death-in-service benefit to next of kin/beneficiaries, universal implementation of the medical Residency Training Act in all Federal and state hospitals, immediate review of the hazard allowance of healthcare workers and payment of the COVID-19 inducement allowance

CelebritiesD’Banj Continues ₦1.5 Billion Libel Case As Seyitan Withdraws Petition by Benite(op): 7:38am On Jul 25, 2020
Musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj, is forging ahead with the N1.5bn libel suit filed against Miss Seyitan Babatayo, who accused him of rape, despite the latter withdrawing a petition submitted to the Inspector-General of Police.

D’Banj’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), disclosed this in an interview with Saturday PUNCH on Friday.

“They withdrew their petition but the police said they could not prove a case of rape against D’Banj. This fact should not be hidden. It is based on this they are begging him to withdraw the case but I have not received any letter from my client asking me to withdraw the case. So, the case in court is still alive,” Ozekhome said.

D’Banj had on July 3, 2020, filed a defamation suit before an FCT High Court requesting the court to order Seyitan to tender a letter of apology for the accusations directed at him, which he claimed has caused him “embarrassment, ridicule, derision, marital disharmony, mental agony, and psychological trauma.”

Seyitan, who had accused D’Banj of raping her in 2018, later wrote a letter to the IG withdrawing the petition.

In his response to the letter, the IG through the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Umar Sanda, said investigation had discontinued due to lack of evidence.

The letter posted on Twitter by blogger, Kemi Olunloyo, read in part, “In view of the foregoing facts, investigation was discontinued as no substantial evidence to prove the allegation of rape against the suspect.”

Human rights group, Stand To End Rape Initiative, popularly known as STER, said Seyitan decided to end the case without receiving any monetary compensation.

STER, which was actively in support of Seyitan’s quest for justice, thanked everyone.

The statement read in part, “On July 13, 2020, Ms. Babatayo (Seyitan) informed STER that a private non-monetary agreement was reached with D’Banj’s team. We, therefore, present this statement as the full account of our stewardship on this matter.”

Seyitan had accused D’Banj of raping her at Glee Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos in December 2018, an allegation he has denied several times.

Speaking with Saturday PUNCH on Friday, a lawyer to Seyitan, Mr. Tommy Ojoge-Daniel, said D’Banj had yet to effect service on his client.

Ojoge-Daniel said his client decided to withdraw the complaint against D’Banj for personal reasons. He, however, said they would not be intimidated by the N1.5bn libel suit.

“We have not yet been served with the processes. However, we are not afraid of any libel suit. Our client only decided to withdraw the petition for personal reasons,” the lawyer said.

Dr Cairo that was alledged to have paid money for students scholarship into his personal account while students on scholarship are suffering is blowing hot , imagine the effrontery, it can only be in Nigeria. In sane climes Cairo Should be in jail by now. Cairo is a born thief, whose only aim in NDDC is to loot. 81billion gone in 4 months with no visible project and then your priority is past leaders while you are presently worse. I thank God for wisdom of Joy Nunieh not to succumb to the looters theatrics.

PoliticsRe: Mention NASS Members Who Got NDDC Contracts, Reps Tell Akpabio by Benite:
For those that watched the panel, you will notice Akpabio was just trying to find a way out by not answering their questions and blackmailing the house committee members. The video circulating round of the chairman asking Apkabio to stop talking was because the clash with the female lawmaker then was percieved by him to becoming rowdy. Unfortunately for the Chairman he didnt know that Akpabio wanted that to send to his online Publicist as diversionary which the female Lawmaker (May God bless her) in her wisdom had perceived hence her stand.
Do you know that when the chairman calmed everyone, Akpabio was asked to bring evidence about the contract given to the chairman, he could not, meaning he lied and Akpabio apologised and withdrew his statement. That part of the video is not in circulation courtesy his e-warriors.
In sane country Akpabio being indicted for stealing 30 files (which he acknowledged at the panel), usurping the managent of NDDC and other corrupt practices should have been sacked and jailed as deterrent to others, IMC dissolved and those culprits jailed and Nunieh reinstated with presidential backing.
On a final note i want to appreciate that Hon Benard or so who made Akpabio to be mute lol and that female house of reps member (whoever knows her name should drop it here) she is a hero and needs to be appreciated.
Pls take time to watch the full video of the probe, you will weep for this country.
PoliticsRe: Thomas Ereyitobi To Akpabio: You Came Here To Mislead Nigerians by Benite:
Akpabio couldnt answer any question straight forward rather he was lying and withdrawing statements made by him throughout the probe.
It is obvious all allegations by Nunieh of Akpabio's corrupt practices and usurping the role of management of NDDC using privileged presidential powers were true %100.
PoliticsRe: Kemebradikumo Pondei Slumps During Reps Committee Interrogation by Benite:
I just pray his hands are clean because Akpabio will just use him as a scape goat for his loot since he knows how to tell others to take oath and sign for money to be stolen.
Nunieh was wise.
Finally, i watched the video of them giving him water when he collapsed undecided.
Imagine giving an unconscious patient water sad, meaning all the money being budgeted for National assembly, they couldn't get a doctor or trained health personnel by the side incase of medical emergency.
