Education / Police Didn't Arrest Any Of Our Lecturers, Ambrose Alli University Says by Benite: 8:45pm On Apr 19, 2017
The management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State on Wednesday described as ‘false’ the claim by the state police command that it had arrested some academic staff of the institution for alleged cult-related activities.

The higher institution also threatened to institute legal action against the Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, if he fails to retract his statement and tender an apology within 48 hours.

Gwandu had, during a press briefing on Tuesday, said that some AAU lecturers were arrested and firearms recovered from them.

He had listed items recovered from a professor of the university to include a double-barreled gun, single-barreled gun and one pump action.

The Police commissioner also expressed concern over the alleged rate of cultism in and around the institution, which he said had claimed many lives.

He also said that the Police had discovered “more than 14 beheaded students” during an inspection.

Gwandu had said, “We have a lot of issues with that particular university. There are some senior lecturers that were apprehended with firearms. So, we are going to arrest those who are mentoring and those who are real cultists and charge them to court.”

But the university, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edward Aihevba, said the claims by the Police commissioner were not only false but also embarrassing, as the AAU had not received any cult-related report ‎involving its staff and students.

It said, “We hereby state unequivocally that Ambrose Alli University has had no issue of cult-related activities since the inception of the administration of Prof. Ignatius Onimawo and his management team.

“There has been no report from the Police Force or any individual or groups for that matter concerning any incident of cultism or cult-related activities.

“The Police Commissioner and his team could not have arrested any staff of the university or (recorded) 14 students dead and not make a report, formal or informal, to the authorities of Ambrose Alli University.”

The university added, “We want to assure the general public that there is and there has been peace within and around the university environment. There is no cult activity and no death of any student in the university.

“We hereby demand that the Edo State Police Commissioner retracts his statement and apologise to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, within 48 hours; failing which the university will not hesitate to institute legal proceedings.

So bad i know this man.
Very humble.
Apart from this Nigerian Police should investigate and apprehend those Police (robbers) stationed between ISTH irrua and mopol junction Ekpoma they are rogues.
The stay at a non functioning filling station there and collect #100 from bike men everyday, defaulters are harassed and beaten.
IGP should investigate this allegation properly.
They almost killed a bike man with 2 passengers in my presence for refusing to give them #100.
They mostly come out early morning and block road leading to isth from mopol junction both irrua town and express side.

Politics / Fayose Cautions DSS Over Planned Detention Of Apostle Suleiman by Benite: 9:34pm On Jan 29, 2017
Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has warned the Department of State Services (DSS) over the planned detention and trial of Apostle Johnson Suleiman of The Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide and the General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide International (Winners’ Chapel International), Bishop David Oyedepo, describing it as indirect invitation to religious crisis in the country.
Governor Fayose alleged that; “There is plan to charge Apostle Suleiman and Bishop Oyedepo for incitement and attempt to cause public disorder on Friday, and make sure that they are not granted so to get them remanded in Kuje Prison perpetually.”
He said this plan was to humiliate these men of God as well as silence them and create fear in other people that may want to speak against the heinous crime against humanity being committed daily while perpetrators are being shielded by the federal government. In a statement issued on Sunday by is Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said the DSS should tell Nigerians how many of the Fulani herdsmen that killed thousands of Nigerians across the country have been arrested before going after Nigerians who merely expressed their frustration over the to failure of the federal government to protect them.
The governor said; “Even though the DSS has allowed commonsense to prevail by properly inviting Apostle Suleiman as against the gestapo manner with which the service attempted to abduct him last week Wednesday, it is still questionable that the DSS is more interested in a man who threatened to defend himself against any attack by Fulani herdsmen rather than those herdsmen that murdered thousands of Nigerians. The governor said; “it is sad and worrisome that after muzzling opposition politicians, judiciary and the press, the APC led federal government has taking its desperation to suppress dissenting voices in the country to the House of God.” Governor Fayose maintained that; “If the DSS had acted swiftly like it is doing on Apostle Suleiman so-called inciting comments when people were being killed by herdsmen across the country, so many lives would have been saved.” He advised the government and the DSS not to go ahead with these plans as it will heat up the polity and threaten the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians, calling on well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the federal government to desist from acts capable of throwing the country into further crisis.
Governor Fayose, who reiterated his call for the release of the head of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention since late 2015 despite that the court ruled that he should be released, affirmed that “he will continue to stand for Nigeria and its people, not for any religion and it is my position that rights of all Nigerians must be respected and protected.” The governor urged the APC led federal government to pay attention to the economy it destroyed, with the aim to revamping it and saving Nigerians from the hunger ravaging the land. “Nigeria is already being ravaged by war of hunger, economic recession, job loss and lack of leadership direction. It will be disastrous for the country to be plunged into religious crisis. “Apart from during the civil war, Nigerians have not been badly divided as a nation as we are under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. Killings under this government in 18 months are more than what was witnessed in the last 20 years,” the governor said

Foreign Affairs / Eq. Guinea Opposition Denounces Jammeh's Arrival Calls Him "Waste Of Africa" by Benite: 7:52pm On Jan 23, 2017
ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast –  Equatorial Guinea's opposition has denounced the government's decision to welcome exiled Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, who flew to the Central African nation over the weekend after 22 years in power.
Andres Esono Ondo, secretary general of the Convergence for Social Democracy, said in an email Monday that President Teodoro Obiang would be responsible "for what might occur" as a result of Jammeh's presence on the country's soil.

In a statement over the weekend, opposition groups said welcoming Jammeh was like welcoming "the waste of Africa."

Obiang's government not yet commented on Jammeh's presence in Equatorial Guinea.

Jammeh lost the December election to Adama Barrow but refused to step down, forcing Barrow to be inaugurated last week in Senegal. Barrow is now planning his return to Gambia.

Foreign Affairs / Leave Us Alone, Sergey Mavrodi Writes Nigerian Bloggers, Journalists by Benite: 9:39pm On Dec 18, 2016
Irked by what he described as bad press against the wonder-bank, Mavrodi Mundial Movement, MMM, its founder, Sergey Mavrodi, has written an open letter to Nigerian journalists, “analysts” and all kinds of “experts” who according to him are guilty of causing unnecessary panic and tension among MMM participants in the country.
Mavrodi who expressed his disappointed about the way MMM is being painted in the media, said emphatically that “MMM will be back in January” while stating that the rumour about the scheme collapse should stop.
Mavrodi’s open letter is coming after a one-month freezing of confirmed “Mavros” notice was sent to MMM Nigeria participants on Dec 12, 2016. Sergey Mavrodi went ahead to describe articles from Nigerians journalists and bloggers as “provocative and worthless.” His statement read: “Dear journalists, “analysts” and all kinds of “experts”! Please stop using MMM to gain cheap popularity. Leave us alone and let us work without interference. I’m just astonished by your irresponsibility and cynical attitude. Interests of millions of people, your fellow citizens are at stake. Don’t you have any sympathy for them? Why are you fueling hysteria around MMM and provoking a panic? Why are you doing this so diligently and persistently, what is your purpose? “In fact, absolutely all your provocative and worthless articles and “analyses” (I said “worthless” because you do not have any real information about what happens in the System, and might have never had; you simply invent everything, fabricate it) are merely negative: “MMM has collapsed!!!.. MMM will not be working in January!!!..” etc. “Are you intentionally presenting all of it in such a manner and whipping up tension by any means possible in order to increase the ratings of your publications and attract attention to them? Don’t you care about people at all? “So, nothing has collapsed, and MMM will safely resume its work in January, as announced. Suspension of work for holidays is a usual thing, merely working moment, no more than that. It would have remained a normal, just a part of the usual routine, and might have gone almost unnoticed if it were not for your totally cynical and irresponsible attempts to advertise yourself, create a scandal out of nowhere, and make the most of this news topic in any possible way. “Again, leave MMM alone and let us work. Nothing has collapsed, and MMM will perfectly resume its work in January. We Can Change the World!”

Politics / Apologies Within 72 Hours Or Be Dragged To Court - Edo APC Women To Monarch by Benite: 10:19am On Oct 29, 2016
Edo APC women rise against suspended Uromi monarch

OKOGBA
28 OCT 2016

*Ask him to tender apology within 72 hours or be dragged to court

By SIMON EBEGBULEM

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) women in Edo state, have issued a 72- hour ultimatum to the suspended Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie, to apologize to women of the state over his alleged attack on one of their own, Mrs. Betty Okoebor or they will drag him to court.

Woman leader of the party in the state, Dr Aisosa Amadasun, who addressed journalists yesterday, called on men in the state, civil society organizations and all Edo women regardless of party affiliations to speak out on the issue, asserting “we need to extract apology from the monarch for the sake of the dignity of our women”.

The state government had on Thursday suspended the monarch for his alleged attack on Mrs Okoebor and failure to respond to the query issued to him by the state government. The government statement further threatened to depose the Onojie if after seven days he fails to tender apologies to the victim and the state government.

However, Dr. Amadasun, who commended the state government for suspending the monarch, said “it will serve as deterrence to those who think the weak has no place in their midst”. “I want to specially thank the state Executive Council for the timely intervention and attempt to right the wrongs perpetrated against one of our own – the weak in the society.

Nice one though but the design is too plenty, the Eagle should have looked up to God, the Elephant should have appeared bold as in Enyimba itself and that book its about to step on better not be the Bible or else they should better reverse the position.
