An old Cormorant lived by a pond. His eyes had become weak and he could not spot his prey easily. The Cormorant started scheming to meet his daily need of food.

Read short and interesting stories here

One day, he saw a Fish swimming on the surface of the pond. The Cormorant called out to him and said, “Dear friend, the fishermen are going to come here in a week’s time to catch all the fish. You must immediately warn your brothers.”

The Fish quickly swam to its brothers and told them the news. All the Fish of the pond got worried. They went to the Cormorant and asked him for help.

The Cormorant told them that he had found a shallow pond near his house. Since no fisherman knew about the pond, all the Fish could stay there. The Cormorant offered to take the Fish to the new pond one at a time.

All the Fish agreed, happily.

The cunning Cormorant carried the Fish to the shallow pool of water where he could easily see till the bottom of the pool. There, he caught them, every day, to satisfy his hunger.

Career / Re: I Want To Switch Back To My Profession But I'm Confused. Help! by benniearinze: 12:48pm On Feb 20, 2018
My brother, I'll give you my honest advice.

No.1: No matter what you do, stay away from the east as much as you can. Ignore at your own peril.

No.2: My dad is an estate surveyor here in onitsha and he still regrets not moving over to lagos or abuja when he had the chance.

No.3: I'm a computer scientist so I think I can help u analyse this situation. As a graphic designer, your opportunities are endless. In the world of today, the digital way of doing things has taken over giving way to things like digital marketing etc.

If you use YouTube on a regular basis, you would've noticed that almost every video starts with an advert. These are adverts from companies willing to pay video animators and editors huge amounts of money to create very compelling and creative adverts for them.

My advise: Expand your knowledge, learn more about photography, video editing and animation. Be very excellent in these. You can even open up your own advert agency where you create very nice video ads for companies and get paid.

Pro tip: You can even align yourself to digital marketing agencies. They need people like these a lot and outsource them a great deal. Prove to them you're good at what you do and watch your business grow

A SEO Business Model That Could Make You Your First Online Income

Some days ago, I mentioned a SEO business model I have been having success with.

So here is the article I promised. I believe a lot of people can make this work for the money too.

I was motivated to write this because I have noticed many here need some sort of road map to get started.

So let's get started

Here is my six-step process to following the same business model and being profitable with it in Little to no time.

Step #1: List everything you’ve spent more than N100,000 on.

When I say everything, I really mean everything.

Car insurance (and your car), your mortgage, your college education, your last vacation; the lot.

We do this because you need a list of industries in which companies make over N100,000 per every client they get.

If we can get these companies an extra lead each month, then they can afford to pay us, at minimum, a few thousand naira for that lead.

Some of these industries are going to be obvious, such as real estate developers, and therefore competitive.

It’s imperative that you start thinking of industries “outside of the box.

Think of CCTV installation that could cost over N300,000 or Oil paintings that people can easily splurge even a million naira on.

I imagine those two things aren’t likely to have been on your list, so now you have to expand it

You need a client to your client to be worth more than N100,000 because you’re going to be sending them their next client

If they only make N1,000 per sale then we’re going to have to send them hundreds of leads before they can pay us N50,000 - N100,000 per month.

If they make enough money per lead, they can pay us N100,000 just for one.

If you’re struggling for ideas start to think of things family, friends and people in your neighbourhood have spent more than N100,000 on. The weirder and more obscure it is, the better.

Step #2: Invest time to perform keyword research

Keyword research allows you to see which terms people search Google for when looking for a product or service.

This is important because we don’t want to rank our websites for something that people don’t actually search for.

The minimum times a term or phrase must be searched for is 500 times per month.

If you’re just starting out, don’t target terms searched for more than 5,000 times per month.

They’re far more likely to be competitive and thus take more time and effort to rank for.

500 minimum searches is not an arbitrary number.

Your goal should be to rank in the top 3 search results in Google for your chosen search term.

If you rank third in Google you will receive around 7.22% of clicks. Meaning, if 100 people search for something, around seven of them will land on your website.

If 500 people search for something, 36 people will land on your website.

This means you need to get one of those 36 people per month to buy what it is that you’re offering.

The beauty of Google traffic is that the visitor to your site is highly-targeted. They’re already searching for what you have to offer.

Additionally, Google rewards websites with ‘long-tail’ traffic which will increase the number of people finding your website.

For instance, let’s say you wish to rank for ‘Yacht Rental Lagos’. If you optimise your site for this term, you’ll also find it ranking for terms like:

Rent a yacht in Lagos
Lagos yacht rental prices
Where to rent a yacht in Lagos
These terms all receive less than 500 searches per month, but they will add to your overall traffic.

The most common place to find search volumes is Google’s own Keyword planner tool.

Step #3: Choose a domain name (and fast)

I would prefer to put this as a single sentence, rather than a step, but I can’t do that.

The reason why is because I get asked about which domain to choose more than any other question when it comes to niche sites.

Let me just say before I get into more detail: It matters 1% as much as you think it does.

That being said, choosing a domain for the this model is different to choosing one for a blog.

A blog should be brandable and ‘clean’, whereas this should be more relevant and it doesn’t have to be brandable.

My rule for choosing a domain is generally this: Pick something with one word from your chosen keyphrase and one to do with marketing and / or services.

For example, if I’m in the Yacht Rental niche then I’ll choose a name like YachtRank or YachtingLagos.

While exact-match domains (yachtrentalmiami.com) do still have some weight in Google, it’s decreasing over time and it’s generally better to stay away from them.

I recommend only getting a .net or .com domain unless you’re trying to focus on a country-specific ranking.

For example, .co.uk, .com.au or .ng are acceptable if you’re focused primarily on the UK, Australia or Nigeria.

If you spend more than 30 minutes deciding on a domain name then you’ve already spent 25 minutes too long.

Over analyse this step and you’ll over-analyse everything, which will lead to no action.

I want you to take action, so trust me on this one.

Step #4: Set-up a very basic website

The websites I build to rank consist of 4-5 pages.

Three of those pages are incredibly straight-forward (and fast) to put together. They are:

An About page
A Contact page
A Privacy Policy page
The Privacy Policy page is generated in seconds by http://privacypolicygenerator.com.

Just copy the results to a new page on your website.

My About page on each website is basically a 200-300 word ‘blurb’ of why I put the website together and who it’s for. Keep in mind that it’s unlikely this will ever be read, so don’t worry about spelling or grammatical mistakes.

Just make sure you write it yourself, so it’s unique.

There’s no excuse to having plagiarised or computer-generated content on a website that’s so small.

My Contact page is as equally simple as the Privacy Policy page, where I use a plugin like ‘Contact Form 7’ so website visitors can get in touch.

Your contact form does not have to work until your website is actually ranking.

It’s simply one of those things you should have in place to make your website appear to be a real, legitimate business.

That’s three of the five pages taken care of.

Page number four is your homepage.

This should be a page which you fill with at least 500 words of content, but preferably more than 1,000.

You can either outsource this for around $10 to someone on Upwork.com or write it yourself.

I prefer to write the content here myself (honestly) as it makes me feel like I’ve made more of an investment in the site rather than just putting up some shell, and I’m more likely to want to make it rank.

Once again, the content here is not really designed to be read by anyone. It’s simply there to make your website appear to be a ‘normal’ website, and normal websites have content on them.

I write about the niche I’m in, what my website is designed to do and who it’s for.

There is a lot of rambling, not unlike this page – heh – but it’s relevant to my niche.

Write the page for people, not search engines.

Ignore anything you may have read about ‘Keyword Density’ or ‘over-optimisation’. Just write for people and you’ll be fine.

The final page I add to the site is basically the same thing again. Another 500-1,000 words on the service or industry I’m focused on. Whether that’s yachting, pool resurfacing or office rental in Lagos.

Unlike the other pages I’ve discussed, this is optional. I just think it’s better to have 2,000 words on a website than 1,000, and that’s why I add it.

Step #5: Build backlinks to rank your website in Google

Have you ever wondered why one site ranks 10th in Google and another ranks 1st?

Does someone at Google just prefer that website?

Is one website newer than the other one?

Does one have more content?

With billions upon billions of pages in Google’s search results, I can assure you that they are not being ranked manually.

They literally couldn’t be.

Consider this: 20% of Google searches performed every single day have never been searched for before in the history of Google.

Quite incredible isn’t it?

Almost unbelievable, until you think of all the world events that happen on a daily basis.

For instance, people have just been performing billions of queries about the 2016 Rio Olympics and the results for various events.

Of course they hadn’t been searched for before: The events hadn’t happened yet.

So how does Google determine who deserves to rank for queries about Michael Phelps’ medal tally?

While I don’t want to entirely over-simplify how Google works, the core component of their ranking algorithm is backlinks.

Backlinks are links from one website to another.

Essentially, the websites ranking on page one of Google typically have more backlinks than the websites on page two of Google.

In other words, they got more websites to link to them and thus Google views the result as being more important.

A second part is coming up soon.

Watch this space.

Very nice and concise.

But bro, I need to ask two quick questions:

1. At the beginning, you promised to show us a way of seeing the exact number of queries that a particular keyword has, do you still have it in mind or have u forgotten?

2. I've been hearing a lot about backlink building, please bro can u throw more light on how exactly to do this?

Edit: Number 1 question has been answered, thanks alot bro

The Infinix Hot 5 is the latest addition to the Hot series which is a budget smartphone introduced by Infinix Mobility. The Infinix Hot 5 is the successor to the Hot 4 and Hot 4 pro of last year which has proved to be a huge success in Nigeria. Today, we’re going to be looking at the Infinix Hot 5 specs and price in Nigeria.

The Infinix Hot 5 is tagged ‘My Mobile Cinema’. The most obvious change that’s seen in the Hot 5 when compared to Hot 4 is the change in design.

Infinix Hot 5 Specs

Other Features:

The biggest change to the design of the Hot 5 is the addition of front facing speakers with Dirac 3D stereo surrounding for improved sound quality. The hot 5 supports dual “micro” sim which can be accessed by removing the back cover. This device supports 2G & 3G network but does not support 4G LTE. The Hot 5 also has fingerprint sensor.

I won't say these specs are too good, considering the fact that these same specs are also available in the hot 4 pro but I may be wrong. What are your thoughts?

Politics / BREAKING: Governor Obaseki Wins Edo Election Petition Tribunal by benniearinze: 1:23pm On Apr 14, 2017
Governor Godwin Obaseki’s election, has been upheld by the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, that sat in Benin on Friday.

Justice Ahmed Badamosi dismissed petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, declaring that it lacked merit.

The Tribunal also said that the reliance of the petitioners on the ticking of the name of a prospective voter on the left side of the voters’ register, to mark complete accreditation was only an administrative guideline for election officials.

According to the election tribunal, all the witnesses’ evidence only gave credence to the September 26, 2016 election.

According to Twitter user, @shina_pitta, there were wild celebrations and loud chants of “Obaseki” and “APC”, after the judgement was delivered.

Governor Obaseki responded by waving his party’s flag proudly and acknowledging greetings from the crowd.

Phones / How To Find Your Lost Or Stolen Android Phone by benniearinze: 2:10pm On Apr 13, 2017
It’s a common metaphor that there’s no worse feeling than feeling the side of your pocket for your phone and you don’t feel it. Mehn, your heart must undoubtedly skip a beat or two. You might have something important stashed somewhere in the phone or perhaps, all your pictures, and confidential stuff are inside the phone somewhere. That’s why we decided to publish a post on how to find your lost or stolen android phone (Even if you’re living in Nigeria).

How to Find your lost or stolen Android Phone from your Computer.

The good news is that you can quickly find your missing handset with Google’s Android Device Manager, even if you don’t have the app installed. Grab your computer (if you don’t have your computer, see the next section), connect to the internet, open Chrome, and make sure you’re logged in to your Google account (seriously, this part is crucial). Type “Where is my phone” in Chrome’s omnibox or you can just visit google.com and type “Where is my phone”. This will do a search, and Google will automatically load a mini Android Device Manager window inside of the search results. During my testing, I found this little box to be pretty hit and miss in terms of accuracy, so for the sake of finding your phone quickly, go ahead and hit the first link: “Android Device Manager.”

This will bring up the Device Manager site—you may or may not have to log into your Google account again here—and immediately start tracking your device. If you happen to have multiple phones and tablets, you can use the small drop down to find the one that’s missing.

Once you’ve told the Device Manager to find your missing phone, it’ll start tracking and should find it within a few seconds (supposing your phone ain’t off). It’ll provide the time it was located, the location, and the accuracy range. This will give you a damn good idea of where your phone is.

PS: This works well if your data connection is on and your phone is also on of course. But don't worry, incase it's switched off somehow, android device manager will still tell you the last place it was seen at.
Screenshot of mine below...

There are so many other options. For instance, you also have the option to
1. Lock up your device by creating an immediate lockscreen
2. Ringing or calling the device so you can hear it ringing and pick it wherever you dropped it

Phones / Concept Pictures Of The Iphone 8. Which Design Do You Like The Most? by benniearinze: 1:21pm On Apr 08, 2017
It’s believed that Apple will announce the iPhone 8 in September, but that because of the advanced production technology the device will require, it won’t actually hit store shelves until a couple of months after that. According to reports, the 3D sensing technology and OLED display are what’s causing Apple to push the release back.

The iPhone 8 is expected to be the most expensive iPhone to date, according to a Fast Company report. The device could come in at above $1000, that's pretty bulky for the average Nigerian but of course, those who can afford it can always buy it.

Remember, it's the almighty iphone that we're talking about here.

Tell us which one you would like the iphone 8 to come with.

I loved Tecno, but that was then.
I'm now a happy user of Xiaomi Mi5s.

Used Phantom Z A7
Used C5
Used C8
Used W4 gave it out lately.

but after discovering Xiaomi, I resolved that Tecno did not met the standards.

I remembered one time, after moving to Sokoto. I was trying to port MIUI 8 to my W4 but I forgot to make a backup of my rom (Stupid huh), mistakenly the phone got stuck in bootloop. I dont have upto 1.5GB at the time (to download stock W4's rom). So, I started asking for Carlcare's office and luckily it's just few blocks away from my apartment.

I went there and after explaining what happened to the the so called carlcare staff, to my surprise the lady told me that I'll have to pay N26K for engine or whatever... lol

Phones / Tecno Is At It Again...here Is The Tecno Camon CX Unboxing Live From Nigeria by benniearinze: 5:27pm On Mar 27, 2017
And so the long awaited Tecno Camon CX was recently launched in Nairobi, Kenya (why didn’t they launch it in naija sef?). Anyway, lucky me, I finally got my hands on one and today you’re going with me on a journey. The journey to the Tecno Camon CX Unboxing and mini-review.

So let’s get to it ASAP..

One quick look at the carton, they said getting the Camon CX means you get 1GB data free and a socialite pack free for 11 months as soon as you activate a glo sim. Also, if you put in a registered MTN sim, you get 100% data bonus for the first 6 months, now this is what I call pure bribe. (I’m preparing to browse free for the next 11 months shaa, hope you’re with me?)

Another bribe is on the way, they said if your Tecno Camon CX screen unfortunately cracks within the first three months of purchase, you get a free replacement. (I am not praying my own spoils shaa). Let’s see the Tecno Camon CX Unboxing.

Key Specifications:

5.5-inch FHD IPS Touch Display

1.5GHz octa-core

Android 7.0 (Nougat) with HiOS

2GB RAM and 16GB Storage with support for memory card up to 128GB (Ahrg, why not 3GB RAM nah, which one is 16GB ROM again? #sad)

Dual 16MP Rear Camera with dualflash and 16MP Front Camera with ringflash (You’re my 1 and only)

4G LTE (up to 150Mbps)

Fingerprint Sensor (Rear)

3200 mAh Battery with Fast Charging (Eeeh, we know! It’s not too bad shaa)

Summary:

Ok, it’s time to round off and tell you what is what from what we’ve observed about the Tecno Camon CX unboxing we just did. We’re doing this based on our first impressions of the phone. Ok… go..

Display: The 5.5 inch FHD IPS Touchscreen is dope and so is everything about the display of the Camon CX.

Processor: The 1.5 GHz processor is ok to me shaa, but still they should have raised it to 2.0 just like the Phantom 6 unless they intentionally did it shaa, so none of Tecno phones could compete with the Phantom 6.

Operating System: Perfect (No other words explain it better)

Memory: 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM are ok shaa but still not comparable to that of the Phantom 6 which spots a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Still it’s ok.

Camera: Perfect is an understatement (If there is anything more than perfect, that’s what the camera is for now. Even the iphone 7 camera no near am, quote me anywhere)

Battery: Not too awesome, especially for a heavy user (but e try shaa)

Other miscellaneous features: They’re just okay.

The full unboxing with many graphic images of the real-life Camon CX can be seen here->http://myphones.com.ng/tecno-camon-cx-unboxing-review/

Welcome to the reign of Tecno!!

Source: http://myphones.com.ng/huawei-p10-specs-price-nigeria/

Today we present you the Huawei P10 specs and price in Nigeria. The Huawei P10 is another wonder phone from the Chinese manufacturers Huawei who are tipped to be the closest competitors to Samsung mobile as far as Android phones are concerned.

The only thing with Huawei mobile phones is that they are relatively costly to the average Nigerian man especially when compared to its Chinese counterparts Tecno, Infinix, Gionee, Innjoo and co. But again, when compared to the costs of some Samsung phones, cost-wise, it is a better option.
