on the day of application submission 23rd of May, your continuous follow up on the update of my application and telling me to be patience they will issue me a visa as it was a right , to composing all the emails correspondence back and forth with the embassy from 23rd may - 17th July.
Even the last email sent on the 17th July a day before my appointment with the consular for 18th July, we went through the script as i was worried but you kept on reassuring me my visa will be issued.

On the day of my appointment with consular you left what you were doing ,stayed on the phone and helped with the flight reservation the consular was requesting for before issuing my visa.

So book an appointment and fill out the visa application form. How you fill out the form must be consistent with the category of visa you are applying for.

Below is a link to the Schengen visa application form. Make sure you fill in the form correctly, and observe the area with asterisk, where you (family members of EU citizens) don't have to fill.

You don't have to fill in your work details, uni details, proof of funds, if you are coming back or not, proof of accommodations, buy health insurance, etc. Also, the only evidence you should submit to the embassy is your legalized marriage certificate, a copy of your husband's Hungarian passport, filled out application form, and your international passport. Thats all.

When it comes to visa applications for EU family members, the documents that you should submit are exhaustive in nature. Meaning that you cant be required to submit what is not necessary. Also, the application is free.

Show this to your husband, it should be clear to him. Also, if you need a legal underpinning of everything I have written here, then I refer you to the document released by the European Commission titled ´Com (2020) 395 final´.Start from page 97, or part III (link below).

Thank you for your response, I need all the help i can get. Now on applying for EU Route your marriage must be registered in Eu from the information i gathered. My husband tried to register the marriage in slovenia when he left Nigeria after sending the document requested by the embassy, marriage cert., police report, doing authentication in abuja and sending it over there , he couldn't get an appointment as he was frustrated at a point with the slow response rate but i will appreciate any information that will make the process easy for us thank you and waiting for your feedback .

You guys should just go through the EU route. It's fast(max two weeks processing time), free of charge, and the visa must be issued to you, you can't be denied.

Directive 2004/EC/58 grants all EU citizens the right to move and reside in any EU countries, and that right is extended to family members of EU citizens regardless of their citizenship.

But before EU law takes effect, the EU citizen, in this case, your husband must exercise, or intend to exercise his EU freedom of movement rights, then you can benefit from that provision as a family member.

So he should write a formal letter that he is travelling with you to maybe Spain (the EU country of destination doesn't matter), and that you, his wife will be accompanying him along. Then fill the Schengen visa form correctly. Then submit your application at the country's embassy you intend to visit.

There are sections in the visa application form that indicates that family members of EU citizens don't have to fill, such as travel expenses, hotels, work, or if you'll come back. And the application is free for you.

Since your case will be dealt under a legal term known as 'lex specialis', all the difficult requirements they use to deny others do not apply to you. The only thing you need to prove is your family relationship with an EU citizen. That's all.

If you need help, let me know. The visa is hard for you to get because you're not applying through the easy route, and the embassy will not tell you, since your ignorance is how they make money. I repeat, the embassy can not deny you the visa, it's a right.

I have been married to my Slovenian husband for a year and getting the family reunification visa is not a walk in the park as we all know. So hubby decided i should come with a visit visa this summer to get married again in Slovenia and immediately start process while in Slovenia. Slovenia doesn't have an embassy in Nigeria, so Hungary represents them in Nigeria. The issue is hubby doesn’t have his own apartment; he stays in his family house in Slovenia with his mum & brother who are the co-owners of the house in Slovenia. The issue now is hubby wanted an earlier date in June but i got appointment date for July in Hungary.
