Hmm...as much as Zulum is in his own rights to make this demand,he should be aware that the fishermen and farmer have no alternative but to be subservient to bokoharam because successive administrations have failed to protect them!

Some individuals in security agencies are even informants to bokoharam...that's why the war against the terrorist hasn't been successful!
Who in those war torn terrorist states in the north will give the army any info when the bad elements in d army will give a feedback to Boko boys who will eventually slaughter that family!

Blame apc government and docile Nigerians for not allowing their successive presidents to come out to debate and defend their policies!
While one of them never attended a single debate, the other was delegating individuals to talk about their policies!
From a single digit economy which apc had told Nigeria they can improve on in 2015 to a double digit in 2025!

Lol...instead of demanding transparency and accountability from an administration whose policies are failing and impoverishing Nigerians everyday, some dumb elements in their youthful stage have stupeedly preoccupied themselves with a coup that happened more than 50 years ago!
Some one even blamed the removal of the regional government structure on a military head of state but yet successive civilian presidents never deemed it fit to bring back such structure!
Will a reminder of the 1966 coup provide the basic necessities for the common man to strive in Nigeria?

After the Rwandan genocide, the Tutsi and Hutu communities chose not to dwell on past grievances but instead focused on healing, forgiveness, and rebuilding a stronger nation. When they recounted the horrors of the massacre, it was not to rekindle hatred or division—they had already learned that such actions lead to no good—but to educate the younger generation, ensuring they avoid the mistakes that led to the 1994 genocide.

Sadly, in Nigeria, we don’t seem to adopt the same mindset. We remain deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines, failing to recognize that we are all victims of the same political system and leadership. Every time I read comments on Nairaland, I find myself losing hope in the future of our country.
True!

Your Ironsi layed the foundation for failure
by abolishing regional government.

In 1959, we already had Liberty stadium, television station,
cocoa house, etc

The high commission used as an embassy in London was
acquired by Awolowo be4 the FGN took it over.

Ironsi and Nwabueze set the west back.
So if ironsi removed regional government more than 50 years ago as a military head of state, how come no civilian president including Tinubu brought it back through the constitution?
Or is the civilian government not supposed to right the wrong of the military?
This distorted and outdated narrative is clearly illogical!

Any sensible person who has studied the recent trend of event in the political sphere would ask this simple questions.....

What's the importance and purpose of this 1966 narrative that happened more than 50 years ago?

How will it help or assist an average Nigerian to access 247 electricity, reduced transport cost, affordable housing, jobs, better security system, cheaper food, education and effective health system?

Make we try get sense oh
Politics › Re: Kemi Olunloyo: The Last Kid To See Akintola Alive January 15th 1966 (pics) by bentenny(m): 8:39am On Jan 16, 2025
Amazing that some controversial elements are now speaking on a specific coup in 1966.
Surprisingly this same coup in 1966 wasn't discussed or talked about during OBJ regime or that of Yaradua or GEJ or even Buhari's 8 year tenure but how come it's now gaining momentum before and after the 2023 election!

Instead of discussing fundamental structures like state policing that will reduce insecurity in affected states or advocating for resource control so that states can generate wealth in their domain or other innovative programmes that will provide equitable prosperity for everyone, some paid propaganda machineries like Omokiri, then FFK and now mentally deranged kemi Olunloyo have now been setup to release distorted history about 1966!

My question is how does this help Nigeria to reduce insecurity, provide affordable transportation, improve on the accessibility and affordability of staple food and achieve 247 power supply in Nigeria?

So why does the president of Nigeria keep preaching about unity and oneness but are yet to condemn this recent crap by Reno,FFK and Kemi?

Actually, the above is not true.

1. Nzeogwu's father...James Nzeogwu ....worked for the precusor of NEPA. He never worked under or directly for the Sardauna as a gardener or in any capacity.

2.Nzeogwu was born in Kaduna, and that was why he was called Kaduna. He was not named by the Sardauna or any prominent Northerner (His brother Peter Nzeogwu in his biographical sketch of his older bro gives another Hausa name that he was given by the Hausa neighbours.)

3. He did not know nor was he on any name basis with the Sardauna.

Infact, read a good biography of Nzeogwu...one was written by his brother, the other by Obasanjo.
😆😆
It's well with Nigeria's history!
Politics › Re: January 15, 1966: A Morning Of Murder, Mayhem And Carnage By FFK by bentenny(m): 3:17pm On Jan 15, 2025
Be mindful a one sided story coming from a gullible and transactional individual who loves to distort history to favour his paymasters!

Interestingly, any time the eyes of some politicians from the north are about to be open about the hypocrisy of some certain individuals from the west, propaganda machinery will start reminding them of 1966 just so that the alliance will continue despite their disagreements!

It's the same machinery successfully used to keep everyone divided knowing it serves their purpose!

My question is why should the actions of a few individuals be used to exert revenge or blame on the region where they come from?

Why should an individual or citizens from the middle belt be blamed for the actions of yakubu gown or should the citizens from the South East be made responsible for the actions of agu ironsi?

Why blame the collective actions of few military men to assassinate individuals from a certain region on the citizens of the states where these individuals come from?

Do the Jews still blame today Germans for the wicked acts of Adolf Hitler?

All I know is that it's easy for politicians to keep average Nigerians apart....just use religion and ethnic bigotry!

I don't have problems with company's running the distribution and generation at some point they are necessary. My issue lies with the privileged position these companies have in crippling the regulatory mechanisms in the state that is supposed to ensure that these private companies carry out their obligations in a responsible manner and are held accountable.
Otherwise, what we will have is predatory anarchy where power companies will charge customers exorbitantly, refuse to address faults and complaints as we see in the present Disco arrangement.

A community's transformer is bad they complain to a disco that refuses to repair the transformer for over a year, the community buys a new transformer the Disco is saying that the community has to pay for the 1-year period they never had supply before it can install the transformer it never bought. See my point?

A corporate entity that is out to make profit and not add value is dangerous to society.
Okay I know what you talking about!
That's the regulatory agency just like NERC nationwide in the state that ensure and demand accountability and transparency from companies in the power sector!
This is where the state assembly members are supposed to provide proper oversight functions by setting up laws that will protect both the consumer and the electricity provider at various sectors of the electricity chain!

They are also mandated to constitute the state regulatory agency made up of reputable individuals from pressure groups who will ensure that electricity companies in the transmission sector are responsible for providing and maintaining equipments like transmission lines, feeder pillars, transformers etc

The earlier an independent federal, state and LGA policing structure is fully implemented as an act in the constitution, this avoidable incidents will continue unabated!

A centralized security system from Abuja cannot adequately secure communities in states!

In saner climes, the electorates will be pressuring their senators or HOR members into signing the decentralization of civil security!
In Nigeria, even in communities that have been ravaged by insecurity, the citizens esp most of youthful population will ask their representatives 'wetin u get for the boys?'
Or 'baba drop something for us oh'

When we are serious,we will personally start withdrawing NA members who have failed their constituents!

Is it really the state or a private company doing it? This clarification is necessary if a private company is doing it on behalf of the state nothing has changed. Customers will still be ripped off.
Good question!
While Buhari was the one that signed the amendment of the electricity act which now empowers states to generate, transmit and distribute electricity, Tinubu assent to the same act was to expand or authorize other players in the power sector to also come in and provide electricity!
So back to ur question.....it will likely be under the authority of the states but at some point in the future, they will have to outsource certain sections of the 'food chain' to private companies to ensure transparency and accountability!

Dbestbrest:
I want to use this moment to thank and appreciate our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for having the boldness to sign the executive bill that transferred the generation and distribution of electricity to states. Ekiti State quickly keyed in to it and has now started generating and distributing their own electricity with the completion of the first phase. The State Governor Oyebanji had gone ahead to purchase a lot of transformers to be distributed to streets, communities and other areas that are yet to be connected to the grid. The time for revolution has just began. Many young people that had abandoned their trades to be riding okada will soon go back to practice their trades with the improvement in electricity supplies. Real change is here. other governors that are yet to start must wake up from their slumber and think beyond the box. Before the end of this year we expect improvement in the states that had gotten license now
So it's now Tinubu not Buhari that signed the electricity bill into law😆😆
As much as I don't like Buhari,it would be unfair to not credit him for ensuring that such important bill was signed into law!
Now apc miscreants want to use what Buhari clearly did to credit Tinubu showing that there is absolutely nothing he has done so far apart from inflicting sufferings on Nigeria!

Can someone please explain what this means? How will it benefit the states or the people in those states? Should we be worried?

The post did not explain anything to us, they just assume everyone has an idea what this means and how it benefits them🙄🙄🙄
In a nutshell, those states are now incharge of the running of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity or are no longer receiving electricity from the national grid as they can now provide electricity for their citizens!

This question is bereft of logic!
Obi is a citizen of Nigeria has every right just like everyone on X to condemn the kidnappings and insecurity happening every where in Nigeria!
But If I may ask....of all the opposition candidates that keep criticizing the government and condemning insecurity, why is that of Obi so sensitive to APC and their ignorant followers?
Sowore,Atiku and other opposition candidates have been condemning insecurity through their X handles....why is Obi's own very peculiar to APC goons?
