lexy2014: off point. how is that related to the questions I asked?
how does having a yoruba name disqualify Akpata from winning?
was the slogan "Edo no be Lagos" coined because of Yoruba name? I'm referring to the guy quoted not you. That guy is an hypocrite |

shegzee43: Tribal sentiments will destroy Nigeria before the economy. What is Yoruba name? What is mother tongue? That's why you have to put state of origin on a CV. That's a man from SE saying that. I remembered when the they called others tribalist for rejecting GRV. |

was the slogan "Edo no be Lagos" coined because of Yoruba name? Hypocrisy at play. When GRV was rejected for not being able to speak the language some people said it was tribalism. |
Politics › Re: Olumide Akpata Emerges LP Governorship Candidate In Edo by Beolly(m): 4:56pm On Feb 23, 2024 |
Ezewuzie01: It is looking like APC will win. PDP chose a man who cannot speak his mother's tongue and needs an interpreter talk to his own people, while LP chose a man who has a Yoruba name and lives in Lagos in contravention to the popular Edo slogan that Edo no be Lagos. I thought they said they don't practice tribalism in Edo State, why should his inability to speak the language be an issue?? When Yoruba people said GRV can't speak the language some people said it's not necessary and tagged it tribalism. So the LP candidate having a Yoruba name is also an issue? There are people from Akoko Edo who speak and bear Yoruba name. I hope when others do the same thing nobody would complain. |

aswani: Not sure because he was the one that told the Edo North aspirants to step down so he can push an Edo south person in Denco, imagine Ẹdo South that did 8 years doing another 4 óntop.
Baba Oshio miscalculated badly, very badlyy indeed. You don't understand the Dynamics. It would be hypocritical of him to bring in any candidate from Edo North after his own term considering he's from their too. And 2016 is not 2024. The bulk of votes is from Edo south and PDP is going to pick someone from the central. Normally Edo central don't like Oshiomole or APC, so they won't get any vote from that side. It's pointless picking a candidate from the central. So the only way they could possibly win is to pick someone from Edo south where the bulk of voters are and then get a large chunk of votes from Edo North and that's it. Benin people would likely go for the PDP man from Edo central if APC doesn't pick a candidate from Benin. If that senator from Edo central becomes the candidate him and Ighodalo would split votes in esan. It would left for Benin to decide I don't see Benin people voting APC except their son is on the ballot. |

shortgun: Obasanjo, Yaradua and Goodluck Jonathan all succeeded and brought progress to the country as presidents because they were all detribalized and made appointments based on merit and not based on political affiliations, religion or ethnicity.
Buhari and Tinubu failed and brought suffering and pains to Nigerians because as president they are more concerned about the religion, ethnicity and political affiliations of a person before they are given appointments, even in critical sectors of the economy. I thought you said you don't need appointment. So why are you writing a long epistle? |

NaMe4: I doubt. Both of them who are not politically sagacious in the first place were the primary cause of what ensued in the last Edo Guber election. They repeated it last weekend.
If they insist on such buffoonery in this attempt to amend cracks by players at the National level, in fact, they would be ignored just as the last time.
There are more important, pressing national issues than doing the bidding of one man who enjoyed the goodwill of his people, but repeatedly insists on paying back by imposing his interest on the same people.
Pacify him?
Hope you remember how he was thrown out as national chairman a few years ago due to this his approach to politics. Which Goodwill does Oshiomole enjoy? |

Dpharisee: If Igbos join it will be tagged IPOB and the Fulani dominated Army will be unleashed as we saw under Buhari. Do you remember how Igbos were mocked and Buhari cheered here with these humiliating and dehumanising pictures for peacefully protesting against injustice and marginalisation.
Not forgetting the killing by the Army of 'General' Ikonso (pictured below) young man who put his life on the line to protect Igbo communities from rampaging Fulani militia based on the warning by Nnamdi Kanu long before other Nigerians realised what was coming ahead now called 'bandits' which has led to the current food crisis as farming communities are no longer able to feed themselves as farmers are killed or kidnapped or asked to pay tax and ransom before planting and harvesting in several states.
Igbos have sacrificed enough for Nigeria, they are always the first targets of riots in the North with their shops either burnt or looted and never compensated by the Govt if they survive with their lives.
Please lets leave Igbos out of this, allow them to breathe Always trying to claim to be the victim. Who claimed Buhari was dead and was replaced by a Sudanese? |

It was also agreed in that meeting that the position will be zone to edo central (esan zone) for the sake of equity and the major benefactor of this is Sen. Monday okpebolo.
