The usual, really. Someone started trouble, but when it gets too much for her, she ran to the mods, then brags about it later. undecided
Why do people even to run to mods at the slightest opportunity? That innocent post of mine you quoted was hidden and this one may suffer the same fate. Ask the mod that hid it to state a rule I broke up and he can't. I don't understand how someone would sit behind his device and hide any post that doesn't resonate well with him despite it not breaking any freaking rule.

If someone can abuse his power on a forum, I shudder at what evil they'll commit if given such a position offline.

I liked it a lot too. Anti-feminists may not like it because the key characters in the story are women. Sophie Turner haters may not like it. Nerds who have read all the Dark Phoenix comics may also be disappointed. But for everyone else, I think it’s a solid, entertaining movie. I would rate it 7/10 easily.
I know every human has(ve) a hater(s), but I don't think Sophie Turner has courted many haters like Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) for the film to have such a negative and forgettable reviews. Anti-feminism is also not a strong factor for the film's disappointing run at the Box Office so far. Methinks, it had to do with a insipid or bad or worn-out story/script.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

I’m flummoxed that with the incipient Disney buyout and this being the finale to Fox’s X-Men, they didn’t put this movie into the hands of someone with more experience. It’s limpidly obvious Kinberg hasn’t directed a movie of this scale and magnitude before.

Overall, I’m not sure what else to verbally express about this except that it’s genuinely hallow and unavailingly futile. The script is awful, and while the cast endeavored their best, they couldn't save this one.

5/10
Two unimpressive ratings from you and Ibk on Dark Phoenix. Thanks guys for helping me dodge the bullet.

X Men: Dark Phoenix

Neither groundbreaking nor terrible, left the cinema satisfied.

Don’t think it’s as terrible as it’s being portrayed online (23% at Rotten Tomatoes for example? Lool gaddamn), it’s a watchable movie.

Some great action scenes, passable storyline with a few cliche parts, basic dialogue. LOVED the main theme song.

Urm, absolutely NO character development for the villains, they were just there…and did bad guy stuff, bleh.

Overall I'd rate it about 6.4

@Beorn dearie kiss
Thanks for the review, dearie. kiss

Will have ample opportunity to decide to whether to go see it at the cinema next weekend or not.

Nah, she's perfectly okay. I know someone that doesn't watch movies. He's always telling me "how do people enjoy watching movies?" To him, we that love movies probably need deliverance as well.

Sorry to bother you but @ bolded Mr Beorn, I am very much interested in knowing how you knew that your so-called female coworker friend usually laugh whenever she is watching movies during the midnight.

Is sleeping on the same bed with her overnight part of your job specifications? undecided
grin grin

That's what she told me. I can't be doubting her. Plus whenever she's asking our colleagues for movies, she's always seeking for horror movies mostly. I've never seen any lady with much thirst for horror movies like her.

Why on earth will you binge on horror movies?? Your subconscious will definitely regurgitate what you have stuffed with. In my case, I rarely have bad dreams when I watch horror films, but there are a few exceptions. Annabelle was worse than Hereditary, scared me more but did not cause me nightmares. Hereditary did. That film is just plain nasty.
Different strokes for different folks. Variety is the spice of life, I guess.

I have a co-worker friend, a lady for that matter, she stockpiles Horror movies in her laptop and only enjoy horror movies from 12am upwards. She laughs while watching it. No iota of fear at all. grin

The movie is great. You have to account for the fact that it was made far back when horror movies where far and few in between.

Books usually come out better than the movies
You made a good point in your first paragraph. Same reason I pointed out in my penultimate post.

The shining

6/10

So I was reading the book, I was at the last chapters when I came to the thread and happened upon the horror movies discussion which piqued my interest in seeing a horror flick; being aware that the book had an adaptation I decided to see it. I read some positive reviews about the movie and even discovered it was dubbed one of the best horror movies but boy I was in for some disappointment. The movie does not come close to the book and the book wasn't all that great but it was miles better than the movie.
I found the movie to be decent and a let down at the same time, the only part I really enjoyed (SPOILERS AHEAD) was when the kid lured the monster into the hedge maze, ran to a certain distance, retraced his steps and got rid of his tracks to where he hid thereby getting rid of the monster by trapping it in the maze.

They should have stayed faithful to the book.
I remember watching the movie after KoiceReloaded_ suggested it to me and ended up terribly disappointed. Despite its high rating on RT and MC, the movie was so boring I gave it either 3 or 4/10 rating. The Shinning still remains the most boring horror movie I've ever watched, though I acknowledged the fact that if I'd watched in my childhood days, I'd have rated it high and probably enjoyed it. Too bad I watched it as an adult.

I used to think I was too harsh with my rating as Koice pointed out, until I watched Ready Player One and in the movie, one of the clues revealed that The Shinning was the novel whose movie adaptation the writer (Stephen King) hated. So, I guess if the writer of the novel felt disappointed with the movie adaption, anyone that feels that way will probably be right as well. cheesy

Thank God the season 4 of Blindspot is over. Time to move on from the shitty show. The season finale is so dumb and filled with plot holes larger than Atlantic Ocean all in an effort to end the season with suspense. Even if HBO takes over the show, I ain't coming back. Whack series.

Check out their looks man, in the movie. They could have cast pure Asian and Arabic acts for the roles (although taking a good look at the actor one can see that he does look Arabic), that would have been better. o.pussy was somehow right, Hollywood are guilty of taking a prominent characters of a certain race and changing them into something western. See what they did with gods of Egypt.
Octopussy was somehow right, I agree, and she's right on the actress that was used not the actor. There was a major uproar because she's half-Indian and Princess Jasmine was of Arabic ancestry in the novel. They got that totally wrong.

Yes, Hollywood are guilty of that, and even when they use the same race, they ignore the actors from that continent. For example, I feel it's a travesty casting Whittaker as the voodoo priest in Black Panther when we have African actors resident in Africa that would've pulled off that role better than Whittaker. Pete Edochie would've been a better option. But they don't trust African-based actors. It's disrespectful. That's the same way that Arabs lashed out against Aladdin because Disney neglected Arabian actors and actresses based in Asia for their European based ones.

Honestly, I've been shocked ever since i confirmed the ratings for myself, still can't shake it off.
That's lowest rating I've seen from a Marvel movie.

But then again, I might still see it at the cinema since Rotten Tomatoes are no longer reliable. I mean, they gave Captain Marvel a high rating despite it being a shitty movie, what's to say that Dark Phoenix won't be a good movie even if given a low rating by the fraudulent RT?

First appearance matters. When I look at the dude who played Freddie Mercury, he looks every bit middle-eastern. Same with Mowgli. I can't mistake Mowgli for a white kid. I look at this fellow and he looks Caucasian. C'mon, you have seen the original source material. Did Aladdin look remotely European? I should be able to identify a character's race, especially when it based on an Arabian character.

Either that or whoever took the promotional photo did a piss poor job.
The lady that played Princess Jazmine caused a bit of an uproar, but I don't think such was heard of concerning Aladdin. Below is the pic of the actor, doesn't he look Arabic to you?

For the fact that they use (I got 5 on It by the Luniz) as a suspense theme in a high tension scene literally turned it to a comedy for me.

Imagine using one of Migos songs as theme music in The Conjuring.
This people made Hans Zimmer to look like a demi-God.
Us was a totally forgettable horror movie. Yawned till the end.

Hollywood has Europeanised a middle eastern character. Aladdin is an Arab man, not European. The Princess also looks Spanish/Mexican instead of Arab/Asian.

Smh.
Wrong on all counts. You'd have made a research before arriving at your conclusion.

Abeg, Tom Cruise doesn't deserve any Oscar win jare, the dude is just stereotyped to the action genre. If it's those who deserves or ought to have won an Oscar, then it should be the likes of Edward Norton, Joaquin Phoenix, Jonny Depp, Brad Pitt ,Robert Downey Jr. And If care is not taken, i fear winning an Oscar might elude some of them, the same way it eluded the likes of Harrison Ford, Liam Neeson(For his performance in Schindler's List).
IMO, while Schindler's List deserved and won 7 Oscar awards, Liam's portrayal of Schindler was not too 'wowing' as to win an Oscar award. The storyline, the directing and general brilliance of the film (using black and white format to tell the story) were the main ingredients that made that movie a classic, not Liam's acting.
