Hotel Artemis was overhyped and overrated on this thread.

The movie is just a simple action movie that relies on too much dialogue and exposition. 5.5/10. Average
Exactly how I feel. I made a huge mistake of not cross-checking on the Internet to see the ratings before I downloaded, now I'm left with rued decision. I can't believe I fell for its hype on this thread. SMH.

Hotel Artemis 5/10.

I don't think 'Don't Breathe' is horror. It's a thriller that has disgusting elements, like an injection thingimabob filled with sperm grin

LOL. It's horror, I even doubt there's any element of thriller inside it.

This thread has lost its glory...

Still wondering how the useless argument is worth it. 3 pages of nonsense argument. Enough of the insults.

Days where people post their personal ratings on movie and no one insulted them. But NO, some prefer forming ITK especially you, Koicereloaded. Beorn, you have also joined the bullying gang. Incase you haven't observed, people barely drop reviews to avoid being insulted. As for me, I care less about your bullshit opinion of my ratings.

Learn to converse in a mature way or get the fvck out of here. Arrant nonsense. angry
#Fact #BeSensible #StopTheInsults #LetPeopleBe
I'll take it that the "you" being referred to was me since you mentioned me. @emboldened, that's a big fat lie.

- It's either you have seen the ratings people have dropped in recent times here but in your one-sided mission to slander me, chose to act like nobody drops ratings anymore because of insults OR

- You weren't paying attention to details and missed the ratings OR

- You're to yet figure out that there are not reasonable or anticipated NEW movies out for digital downloads except for the Likes of Mamma Mia 2, hence why the ratings are sparse.

I accept my wrong in insulting the guy after initially keeping my cool, but the fact that you clearly advised ONLY one faction whilst ignoring the other faction that insulted as well, makes me doubt your peacekeeping mission.

Lastly, I didn't see this your words when the guy you are shielding pounced on the rating of Ibkayee_ and told her to not rate movie of a genre she's not a fan of. The guy had also an accomplice that supported his trashing of _Ibkayee's rating, but shockingly, you said no word and suddenly you typing these words to me and ignoring the other party. Hypocritical much?

I don't even know how to address your subtle aspersion at me about my "bullshitt opinion" about your ratings when I've never in my time on here quoted you directly to rubbish your ratings. I'm convinced your lies against me has nothing to do with this episode but rather a pent up beef you decided to vent using this episode.

P.S: Koice and Jeromeblack had in the time past disagreed with my ratings on some movies, but we discussed it maturely and I never got emotional about it, but once someone has a differing opinion to your rating, y'all go ballistic. It amazes me most times.

Apologies to ThekingIsHere for the insults.

Lol,

But for you to watch Get out without freaking out the way you did for Annabelle, i conclude that get out is just thriller.

Well, make I go watch football highlights as it is obvious I have missed some matches today

Golden globe was not stupid because that's what the marketing company tagged the primary genre initially as comedy NOT horror.

Since they decided to change the main genre to Thriller then it is still valid. The movie primary genre is still not Horror
You're kidding, right? So, Golden Globe, a credible award body were foolish not to realise it's a thriller ab initio? Peele, nko? He's dumb as well despite being the director. Oscars, nko? they're dumb for labeling it a horror movie. Everybody on earth were wrong except Universal and you. I'm done with you. Bye!

Thank you.

Many of them talk without knowing anything.

Imagine calling exorcist possessed when ita main genre is supernatural
Supernatural is a SUB-GENRE, Horror is the MAIN genre.

Some sub-genres of horror film include action horror, comedy horror, body horror[4], disaster horror, found footage[5], holiday horror, horror drama, psychological horror[6], science fiction horror, slasher, supernatural horror, gothic horror, natural horror, zombie horror, first-person horror, and teen horror.

I am using the Universal companys statement as they tagged it now as thriller.

Which is still very valid.
Therefore Peele the director was dumb as well, innit? Also Universal said it's comedy and submitted it as a comedy, you used Golden Globe award to back it up, meaning Universal were dumb before realising their mistake while Golden Globe was stupid for the comedy award they gave it when it was a thriller, innit? grin grin

This is hilarious.

So Universal company that has been there for many years (since 1912) and has marketed a lot of movies is now too small or should I say confused as you said because they didn't tag it as horror?

You guys just don't get it.

The movie primary genre was never horror. That's why universal still didn't tag it as one.
So describe Get Out to us using Peel and Universal's genre. No too type much, describe the movie for us. Be fast.

Universal company is one of the most reputable movie company in the world and are the marketers of getout, they didn't tag it as horror, so why can't I tag it as thriller or even comedy?
Where the fuck_ is the correlation between your thesis and the question I asked? Should I write the question in Pidgin if English language is the problem? Please describe Get Out to me using Peele and Universal's genres. I'm waiting.

And the main Genre is not Horror. The marketing company for Get out movie marketed it as comedy and now thriller it wasn't marketed as Horror that's why I said that the main genre isn't horror.

Hope you get it now?
Let me get this straight, so when asked to describe Get Out, you''ll say; "It's a comedy, speculative thriller and documentary, but at the end, it has no genre (taking in cognizance the opinions of Peele and Universal as your benchmark)"?

Doesn't that sound extremely dumb to you? huh huh embarassed

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 8:41pm On Sep 25, 2018
TheKingIsHere:
You just ignorant and dumb so I will explain your contradiction in simple terms.

Me: Both Get out and Upgrade are sub genre hence it shouldn't be regarded as full fledged horror movies.

You: Get out is horror because it is a psychological horror while upgrade is not horror because it was marketed as a sci fi movie

Me: Then that means that Get out is not a full fledged horror because it was marketed as a comedy now thriller not horror.
The emboldened is wrong. A movie CANNOT be sub-genre, RATHER a movie CAN HAVE a sub-genre but MUST HAVE A MAIN GENRE.
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 8:30pm On Sep 25, 2018
TheKingIsHere:
The question ia who tagged Get out primary genre as horror?

We all know that upgrade was tagged by it's producers, director and marketing company as sci fi.

What am saying is that Get out primary genre was never tagged as horror.

Its director called it a documentary while it's marketing company never tagged it today as horror. I have provided evidence to this.

So therefore its primary genre of get out is more of comedy/ thriller/ drama.. Not horror.
Bro, an Aba shoemaker can decide to market his self-made shoes as Gucci, does it make a Gucci shoe? Absolutely not. Same way the director or marketer can decide to market a film in a genre that wasn't made to be its primary genre. The expose by you should've told you why the director and Universal are clueless. Let me expantiate.

1. Universal, according to you, submitted it as a comedy.
2. Peele, the director immediately rejected that notion.
3. Universal, aware of their gaffe and cluelessness changed the genre to Speculative Thriller. Another confusion from Universal. This showed that they're clueless.
4. Peele then decided to join in the comedic show by labelling it a documentary which IMHO, it's not. Get Out had absolutely nothing to do with documentary.
5. Peele having realized he's clueless and wrong in labeling it a documentary, then took foolishness to a whole different level by saying it had no genre. That right there shows Peele was high on crack when he said that because no movie ever made doesn't fit into a genre.

So. despite all these tomfoolery by Peele and Universal, you chose to join them and chose TWO opinions over the opinions of several film critics? huh huh

Bro, I don laff tire. Koicereloaded is right. The guy is dumb.

A film can fit into many genres- but it will always have a primary genre.

Deadpool is a comedy but it will always be a superhero movie first. A superhero movie that fits into action/comedy.

This is simple to understand. Even though I might not show it, I have mad respect for you and koice. You guys take time to explain movies to dumb people- aside from your reviews.

Both of you are dumb.

Do you know more than the director of the movie who tagged Get out as a documentary? or said that “Get Out” doesn’t fit into a genre, and described it as a “social thriller.”

You stated that Upgrade draws his sub-genre from another genre's sub that why it isnt a horror movie. Is that not the same for Get out that was also nominated under the category of Comedy and music in 75th Globe awards?

Doesn't that show that Get out too also draws his sub-genre from another genre's sub?

Thats the reason why I stated all along that you are just contradicting yourself.
You're missing the salient points. To break it down in its simplest form, Koice was trying to tell you that:

1. Get Out has its MAJOR/PRIMARY genre as HORROR before its sub-genre could be whatever you, the director or the award organizers decide to tag it

2. While Upgrade has its MAJOR/PRIMARY genre as SCI-FI before its sub-genre could be whatever you, the director or the award organizers decide to tag it.

I hope you got the difference?

Ogbeni keep quiet. Get out did not come to cinemas in Nigeria.

I watch all major movies at the cinema. That is my hobby. I waited for "get out" to come to Silverbird or genesis cinemas but it did not come out.

I think the evil dead remake too didnt come out as well.
My bad then, I thought it did. But I insist, it not coming to Naija cinemas had nothing to do with superstition. What's even superstitious about the movie that other horror movies that have been shown in our cinemas don't have? Or you think cinema owners give a hoot about any worthless superstition when there's money to be made?

my theory why it wasn't shown is; it's probably because it's a low budget movie and it had no major star attractions in its cast, hence no massive hype surrounding it before people discovered it's a nice horror movie. It's probably why it wasn't really considered to be shown in our cinemas then. I mean, I even initially refused to watch it due to I'd some suspicions over the movie and its lesser known actors until my cousin convinced me to watch it.

Nigerians are too superstitious. This is why a lot of horror movies don't get shown in cinemas.

"Get out" didn't come out in Nigerian cinema. The first black horror Hollywood movie.

You're wrong to assert such. Nigerians are way too superstitious, but other horror movies have been shown in the cinema too, so Get Out not coming out in our cinemas had nothing to do with superstition, that's if you're 100% sure the movie was shown in the cinemas in the first place.

I’ve been meaning to watch Mamma Mia 2, just seems like it would be a feel good film. Haven’t watched part 1 either though
If you're a big fan of ABBA, you'll enjoy the part 1 because while the storyline was weak to me, the classic ABBA ballads were strong enough to power it through, plus I think it's a "girlie" (I hope I'm not coming off as a sexist using that phrase) film. I think you'll love it. The songs got me reminiscing of my childhood days and made me remember it's been over 10 years since I last played an ABBA song.

Mamma Mia! 6/10.
