Well, not really.
The security guys were the ones trying to cause confusion. They said I must have the amount with me even if it will eventually be returned because I already told them I was on scholarship.

Actually, I tried to go with the amount but the lack of new notes couldn't allow. When they told me I must have the cash with me, I tried to get 30k from POS but the guys said he was going to deduct 10k as his charges!

I just went back to the Embassy to see how things would play out and fortunately, I was eventually allowed in. However, another guy who wasn't with the cash was turned back in my presence although I'm not sure what he was applying for and if he has any scholarship.

For someone who got a PhD scholarship from a research group in Bielefeld, should he book his appointment in Lagos or Abuja considering the clause that those that got scholarship can book appointment in Abuja. The person resides in the south

Two types... Shared apartment, WG where you may share a kitchen and bathroom with 1-4 persons. There are also self con, good place.

Bielefeld is a small city, you should get a self con for less, but apply to Studentenwohnheim (dorm) already to save immediate housing stress.
1. You may no longer be able to have traditional 3 times a day. It can get less or more after you spend a few months not knowing what you are doing in some cases (it's normal BTW).
2. You can have the cheap private health insurance like Mawista but if you know you have preexisting health challenges or your working hours exceed 120 h per month, take public. Better you start with simple Mawista though.

Rent: 350-450
Insurance: 40-220 (Depending on your age and current health condition)
Feeding: 100-150 (Depending on WHAT and how much you eat of course)
Transportation (local): possibly covered in your semester contribution fee
Semester fee: 150-500 (Depending on your school)
Winter clothing: depending on your taste and time of purchase (now, winter clothes are pretty cheap).
Bicycle: later on... 😂

You'll be alright depending on your alrightness level wherever you are now.

I do not know the salary grade you talked about but for a PhD position, you can survive. Although you will not be able to solve your village people problems.

Yes, the appointment is for data capture.
A family member, friend, neighbour, boss, colleague, a member of the religious group which you belong to can stand as guarantor. He or she will fill, sign, and get the form stamped (yes, you or your guarantor will take the form to a High Court to get it stamped by the Commissioner for Oaths). Before going to stamp it, attach to the form a passport photo of your guarantor. It must either be filled in black ink pen or in blue ink pen. Lastly, your guarantor must attach the Photocopies of his or her valid Nigerian passport data page and NIN slip or a valid Nigeria driver's license.
